I've just recently upgraded from the E200 to the SPV M1000. I'm fairly new to all the functions as I just used the E200 just as a phone.
Am I doing something wrong as I can't seem to recieve MMS any more, or set seperate ring tones to particular contacts.
Also I've noticed there is a ROM updade to 1.72, what benifits would this give me, and where can I get hold of it...
Thanks, in advance
seperate ringtones require a 3th party program
mms require that it's setup in mms composer and under connections
I am in the same position, I have just upgraded to an M1000 to find no MMS, the problem it seems is not setting up the MMS connection, it is that there is no version of MMS Composer installed on the phone. Does anybody know where I can get this software? I understand EzWAP might solve the problem but it has mixed reviews and some people say MMS doesn't work on the M1000 with it.
I think the software that is used by other networks is made by Arcsoft, but I can't find anywhere to download the software from,
Cheers in advance of any help
I'm surpised to hear Orange don't supply an MMS Composer? I use an XDAII on Orange and the MMS Compose O2 supplied works fine when configured for Orange. You can happily use the MMS Composer .cab file found here. Just copy to the m1000 and double click to install.
If you feel up to it you can unhide and unprotect the extended ROM, copy the cab file there and edit the config.txt file, then re-protect the extended ROM. That way if you hard reset, the MMS Composer .cab will automatically be re-installed. More details on doing this (it's relatively straightforward) can be found here.
Thanks for the link, it has installed fine on my phone. Do you know where to get the Orange settings for MMS? I was told I need to set up a new connection then configure the Composer, but I rang Orange and the best they could do was send a SIM update which did nothing at all!!
Cheers,
Fin
Yes, forgot that part! See here, the guide is for XDAII users but if you read through it you'll find the relevant sections for configuring MMS which apply to the Orange network regardless of whether you use an m1000, XDAII etc.
Dont know if yo will see this message seeing as it was last week but on the orange website there is now a rom upgrade which gives you a mms composer i have just downloaded it and it works fine....takes a while to upgrade though
Thanks, I meant to put something on this thread about the new ROM update, downloaded it the other day and it is great! Orange are bizarre though, I emailed them about a new ROM only a few days before and got a reply saying that MMS was not going to be supported at all on the M1000, so I was a bit shocked to see the update only two days after!
New Rom update
Thanks, I spoke with Orange yesterday about the MMS and they told me there is a new ROM update. I've downloaded it and applied. However when I restored all the data via xBackup the menu and application had gone. I tried this twice from the hard reset and the same applied, so I just rebuilt it manually.
After two weeks of having my Exec running in Basic Mode, I decided to try out Corporate mode as I had read that it would be faster. I hard reset and immediately noticed a massive speed difference. However, after I soft reset the device after entering Mobile web and wap settings for O2, the MMS account disappeared- all the settings were there in MMS configuration but the account was nowhere to be seen. Has anybody else encountered this or do people not bother with MMS? I think in the meantime, until I can find a solution I will have to go back to Basic mode which is defintely slower
Very grateful for any help,
Fin
This is the best news I have heard, I never use MMS, in Australia if your MMS get delivered your really lucky so I never use it.
I am going to change to corporate O2 Rom.
Well at least some good came out of me swearing at my phone for an hour!

Probably related to the WM5 'feature' where settings changes are lost if you soft reset within a few minutes of making the change.
I had exactly the same problem in corporate mode.
So I reinstalled ArcSoft MMS Composer, and then followed the same procedure required for installing MMS on Himalaya WM5.0.
I've detailed the relevant instructions after re-installing the MMS Composer:
1. Soft-reset
2. After this , go the messaging application. click on Inbox you should see a new account there called MMS.
If not click on Menu>Tools>New Account
Create a dummy email account (it doesn't matter what info you fill in, just make it up) but at the Account information select MMS as the account type and click next.
Then finish going through the account creation, again for the server information making anything up.
3. Once that is completed clock on Menu>MMS Configuration then click the servers tab.
I suspect, however, that re-installing the composer may not be nessesary, as it may be just the registry settings for the MMS composer which were lost, so I've attached the registry entry I think might get it back (MMS-part.reg) - when followed by the steps above and also the full registry entry (MMS.reg)...but this is just a thought - re-installing the program worked for me
Which of the CAB files on the Extended Rom will reinstall the Arcsoft MMS Composer. I am in the same boat, have hard reset to Coporate Mode but MMS is not setup. In the Messages section, I have MMS Configuration option under Menu, and the registry settings all look OK, but I can't seem to find the MMS Composer software anywhere on the EXEC.
TIA

Hi you wonderfull helpfull people!!
I did a search on this and can find various settings etc but cant seem to find anything specific!!
I purchased a Orange SPV M500 but I have an O2 Contract Sim, so I unlocked the M500 (Using the wonderfull software from here - thanks for that by the way!) and am now using my O2 sim in the phone. Now ringing people and sending text is obviously OK, however I have a problem connection to the net and sending email's MMS and its all down to my GPRS settings still being set at the Orange ones.
I tried to ammend the settings by getting them from the O2 website (I am unable to send them to my phone as you have to select the phone you use, and obviously they dont have the M500 in their list as they dont sell it, I tried to get the settings for thier XDA but it doesn't work) I tried to put them in the M500, but there seems to be more settings on their website than there is space for on the M500!!!
Help!!!
The main reason I got the phone was for net access and now I havn't got it LOL
So does anyone else have an M500 running an O2 Sim and have the GPRS working and if so can you help pleaaaasssseee
thanks in advance to any replies!

Hi
Try this the file has been posted on here b4, but could not find it so ive attached it to this message.
delete all of the setting in connections, copy the cab to your phone and run it useing file manager. you have to do a soft reset, check in MMS settings that you are useing the o2uk and delete the orange settings.
hope it helps
i used it on a mda compact, hope it helps
Thanks alot thats a great help.
I will do this when I can get on my own PC (Im at work and we have a download/upload block grrrr) so will hopefully try in in the next few days!
When you say delet all settings do you mean go to the GPRS main page and tap and hold till the delet option comes up and delete each thing set up (i.e there is the O2 one I created and the original Orange one) or just go in to each profile and just clear all the info in the fields? Sorry just want to double check thats all!!!
And does it matter which folder I copy it to in my phone, or shall I just whack it in the root directory or something?
Thanks again BTW can't wait to try this
Hi
I deleted all the setting that where on the phone, (MDA compact) when u run the cab it will create all the seting u nead so no need for the old ones, if you are unsure back up the phone with active sync then if u have any problems you car put it back as it was.
copy the cab anywhere u like, then run it useing file manager and it will set up the gprs settings for u

Thats absoloutley great, I'll try this when I get the chance. Thanks dearly!
heya i have the same problem and im trying to use this, where is the file manager on the spv m500??
I've recently acquired an xda mini s from 02 as a free upgrade, however i want to put a vodafone sim card in it.
I've got the gprs working, but the mms isnt at all.
I've tried numerous cab files, can anyone help? maybe typing the settings in by hand?
please
Jaxx
sounds like you've done a soft reset after a hard reset bypassing the extended rom install? The only way to get the MMS application is to hard reset and do a "Basic" install then remove the O2 stuff from the Windows startup folder. Once you've done this you'll have the MMS app with O2 settings that you can just change to Vodafone settings.
Ok, tried this and still not workin.
What is going on here?!
do you meand MMS isn't working still or you still don't even have MMS in Pocket outlook
Do a search for removing the O2 stuff, there are many topics with the cab files to install to recover the MMS inbox
If however you have the inbox, just not the settings call vodafone and get them to tell / e-mail you
or go here http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
I managed to fix this problem finally.
The problem was that the MMS software was trying to connect using the vodafone Live access point, which isn't correct. had to set up a whole new connection for the MMS settings, it is now working fine.
Any chance you could post those settings here as I'm having exactly the same problem?
SMS is fine it's just the MMS I cant get working, Inbox is there just the setting that seem to be wrong.
This helped me out:

I can now send, but not receive MMS with my voda sim on my mini-s
Perfect Thanks,
I can now send and recieve MMS, SMS and Surf the "world wide wait"
Not sure why you cant recieve MMS though, I followed your instructions to the letter and all worked straight away, albeit a bit slow but then I think that's a tarrif thing with Vodafone. (I'm on a corporate contract with my own unlocked Mini-s)
I dont suppose you know the URL to access the Vodafone live site as well do you?
Hello, I have the same issue. But l'm on O2 , using o2 mini S , device. I can receive and download MMS , but I can't send MMS to another person. Is the any thing I miss? l'm using corporate mode.
Not sure about the corporate mode but I do know that unless you have the settings in exactly the right places you will have problems.
This link from earlier in the post should help you solve your problem though.
The second link is for Vodafone but use it to give you an idea of where you should be setting up the various elements.
You could also try searching for "O2 MMS Settings"

Hi folks,
I just received my HTC TyTn today and thought I would post to say that it is AWESOME! So much smaller and pocketable than the Exec, 802.11G and a very slick keyboard.
Also, and more importantly, I found that the O2 Settings CAB from my old XDA EXEC works 100% perfectly on this device for setting up MMS / 3G GPRS / WAP etc. Its a single cab which simply installs those settings and no other O2 Active junk etc. Bear in mind this is for O2 UK only and will probably screw-up your device if you are using it in another territory.
I fully tested this with email / terminal services / mms messages and all worked perfectly. I have attached the CAB in a Zip archive (don't forget to log in to see it).
I hope someone finds this useful.
All the best,
Codeus
lol wish i had this when i got mine, i had to manually enter the settings which was a right pain....does the cab install the settings for the http AP over GPRS/3G rather than the standard wap one??
Yes, the Exec which I got the .cab from is also a GPRS 3G phone. so it works perfectly.
I tend to copy useful little cabs like this to my flash card and make them read-only so I can reinstall should I ever have to hard-reset on the road.

This is a very handy Cab file. It is likely to be for those who have a data tarriff i.e subscribed to mobile.O2.co.uk and not payandgo.o2.uk. However all is not lost because you can still install the cab file and then through connections menus you can tweak them for payand go. The following reference shows the different entries between payg and contract:
http://www.mphone.co.uk/mms_wap_settings_o2.html
Installing the cab file. Just download it either directly to your device or to PC. Do not extract or expand the file if it's on your PC just open active sync, use the explore button to open your device files and put it where you want (storage card for preference). Go to your device and tap/double tap the Cab and it will run.

I've just noticed your in the US. This cab file is for UK so I guess not much use for you. What I said about Cab files still applies in general though. You'll often find a choice as to whether you want to download a Cab file or an EXE file. Generally (not always) you run Exe files on your computer and they install to your device (while your conected with activesync). Cab files you copy onto your device and just tap them to run them. I like these cos I can store all the good ones on my SDcard and if I ever have to hard reset I have them all ready to tap and install again without resorting to the PC to reinstall everything.

plse help am nw at dis
Brillant, thank you
Thanks for that CAB, just used it to get my Kaiser working.
Just had to change the username and password in the settings and works perfectly.
Many thanks for sharing it.
I tried using this cab, and so far it seems to be all good, but I still can't get my MMS working. They haven't worked since I moved to 02 last year and still using my Vario II.
I've just flashed the Faria32 rom and I'm loving everything so far. I was hoping that this would now start working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or is it just part of the deal with using a non O2 handset? Internet seems to be working fine... just no mms.
Incoming MMS problems on o2 PAYG fixed
I've had a problem with O2 PAYG, after installing the CAB and changing settings from contract to PAYG everything worked except incoming MMS (outgoing was ok). Eventuially I set O2 Active as my work connection, altered the O2 Active access point to payandgo.o2.co.uk, username=payandgo and password=password. The only proxy set was WAP=193.113.200.195:9201 In the MMS settings, the everything was left as default (connect using O2 Active, gateway 193.113.200.195, port 8080, server http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002)
Not sure why I had to use O2 Active instead of my internet connection with WAP proxy set, but it works now. Happy Bunny
Incidentaially, O2 refused to help me because the Hermes (O2 Trion) is only supported on contract. I guess if you are on PAYG, you could move to a simplicity plan for a month, get O2 to help, then go back to PAYG and change the settings back to the payandgo ones.
One of the reasons I went back to O2 is cos I've always had good customer service... I'm beginning to rethink that with their "computer says no!" help...
Thanks for the help i'm going to see if the O2 Active settings help me at all.
Anno 2009 still working, thank you.
tytn 2 gprs probs on o2 pay and go
hey all
if u are a pay and go customer (im on o2) when ur setting up ur connections simply enter the contract APN in the access point area..not the pay and go one as its restricted. I did this and boom the tytn was on the net! I suspect this could be the same for other pay and go sims. Hope this helps those of u who were bangin their head against the gprs wall of pay and go smartfone world.
Here's the cab file for setting up gprs and mms for PAYG.
Sorry for being such a noob, but what do I do with the cab files after downloading them..?
Where do I copy them to..?
Do I extract them..?

Download, copy to device (anywhere, even storage card), run on the device and let it install. That's it.
thanks this worked great on my pay and go O2 HTC Touch Diamond P3700
