HTC Wizard + MobileNavigator 5

Hello, I'm new to the forum.
I'm interested in using the HTC Wizard with a GPS software managing TMC like Navigon MobileNavigator 5.
Does anyone have any experience with this match?
Thank you in advance.
tried Navigon with my MDA and its very very slow
Hi,
I also use NM5 on the MDA. I think it's working fine when you overclock the MDA
If installed the map on the SD-Card and NM5 itself in the RAM.
Regards,
I am using TOMTOM - it takes less resources than Mobile Navigator and is working fine! You can have a TMC like support from TOMTOM using GPRS and a PLUS Service of TOMTOM- that is with a yearly extra fee - but you do not need a more expensive TMC GPS solution.
You have to calculate what is better for you.
@wawibu: How do you do?
Navigon on Qtek 9100
It´s work very fine and fast. No problems.
Qtek 9100 with Navigon 5.2.5
I've got a demo copy of Mapopolis on my 8125. I'm using a Holux GPSlim236 over BT to get GPS info.
Overall it works fine. It has a few quirks, like not always picking the route I would take but that's to be expected I guess. Searching large maps like Cook County, IL will sometimes freeze the device for a few seconds while it looks and sometimes will not come up with the address match. The voices do not impress me either, but it does get you to where you need to be.
I'm probalby still going to buy TomTom for the US though. From what I've seen and read, TomTom beats all, and it's only $50 more than Mapopolis.

to tom tom or not to tom tom?

hi, got an exec and been using it for a year now and still loving it as of october i am going to be driving a taxi so, wondered what peoples advice would be, is the exec reliable and usable enough to use as sat nav for my taxi? iv trawled through the forum and read lots about the tom tom issues and im wondering whether or not to just buy an independant tom tom device and keep my exec free as as phone? i will be using my o2 bluetooth headset whilst driving and will need to be able to take calls on it.
also if you think i should stay true to my exec and tomtom her up, any suggestions on where to buy from and best gps unit etc? seen THIS on ebay, was going to use a copy of my mates tom tom but, thinking maybe it would be more reliable to just buy a genuine copy????
many thanks in advance
Hi bobby,
To be honest Tomtom works perfectly on the XDA Exec. I have a MDA Pro(T-mobile version) and i have no problems. At first there were some problems with trying to setup the bluetooth gps recievers with tomtom but that was before version 5.21 was released.
Using the phone at the same time as running tomtom is easily done. the gps reciever does not interfere with a bluetooth headset whatsoever. I have a sony erricsson HBH-300 bluetooth headset with my MDA Pro and i always take calls while using tomtom.
As it goes with the retail version of tomtom the only difference you will get is that you will have the option to subscribe to live traffic updates.
The item you have seen in ebay looks quite good. i have the same gps reciever as that deal which i know is really good but as for the holder you may want to consider getting a holder specific for the Exec as you may want to put it in landscape mode when not using tomtom.
Here are a couple of options for you for the GPS holders and recievers:

Hope this helps you, if you would like a couple of pictures of my setup please let me know.
Been using TomTom on T-Mobile MDA Pro for 9 weeks...upgraded from HP iPAQ 6515 and loving it!!!!!
The screen quality is far superior and it works like a charm
I've been using both TomTom and iGo on my Qtek9000, they work very well. I think I prefer iGo, but it's just a matter of taste I guess.
Make sure to get version 5.21 of TomTom, otherwise a bluetooth GPS reciever won't work.
hi, I use my universal, mda pro, as a sat nav and it works perfectly no issues whatsoever. I'm running tt5.21 with map of uk plus v632 the gps reciever is holux gpslim 236 which is brilliant I highly recommand this one as to the mount I have pdahut holder which does its job but there is 2 probs with it..putting the device in and out of the mount involves two hands and the stability. plus the mount is passive one. all after all is a good combination I'm very happy with it. I cannot comment on using bt headset cos I m not using yet but I am experiencing huge lags answering the phone while navigating..I use wired headset that came with the universal.
cheers, cudo
muchos gracias senors 8) thought i was gonna have to go and fork out for a whole new unti for a moment
ps. 'itwasntme' if you could mail me a pic or two of your set up il be forever in your debt mate

GPS navigation on a T-mobile MDA

I have a T-mobile MDA and I want to get a GPS navigation reciever. I have the maps but all I need is the unit that will actually do the blinking on the maps to tell my location. I have a miniSD port on my MDA and I have a 2GB minisd card for it. anyone have an MDA and got theirs to work?
do you know where I can buy one? I am looking for something fairly cheap, not the 300 units. thanks.
can I get it on ebay
could I get the GPS on ebay? what would I need to look for?

tomtom5, but I have a cd with another one, have no idea which.
tomtom 5 is good but bit outdated it should work just fine with any bluetooth receiver, just make sure when buying a receiver check out the specs like if its the latest sirfIII and check out how many channels it can recieve obviously higher the better.
From Argentina
Hi, i live in Argentina, so i dont use the TomTom.
I bought on eBay a BT GPS, brand i-Blue.
It works fine, and i even get satellite reception inside my home (the sensibility is awsome).
Im using a vectorial map of my country which is fully routeable, and runs with Garmin QUE software on the PDA.
Since Garmin requires the GPS to be a Garmin one, i have a software call franson which emulates a Garmin GPS based on the iBlue Data.
There is also an open-source solution to this, but its a little tricky.
When you buy a BT GPS, check out how many satellites it can handle, battery life, and try to get one with and external antena MMCX connector.
I got mine for about 60 bucks plus shipping.
It uses a cheap Nokia-cellphone battery so i can replace it cheap.
Excuse my english, im spanish.
Ps: to get maps working into garming QUE, you just put the MiniSD on the computer, open Mapsource (garmin version of QUE for the PC) and download the maps to the Flash. Then, when you start the QUE, it will load the maps by itself.

How to use GPS on Htc 8525?

hi guys, i want to use GPS on my htc 8525 but i dont know how. Can u tell me some options to use GPS on htc 8525 without paying any monthly charges? I heard about gps reciever or microsd card gps etc... but i dont know how. help me thank you
Get TomTom or another GPS software that doesn't use data, and pick yourself up a bluetooth GPS receiver. When I had my 8525 I had a GlobalSat BT-359W receiver that I picked up @ Amazon and TomTom 6 and it worked like a charm. I've since upgraded to a Tilt (built in GPS) and TomTom 7.
You will have to pick up at least a 1 GB microSD card because the TomTom maps are 600 - 800 mb...depending on which ones you get. I would recommend something bigger though.
Hi there, i just bought a GlobalSat BT-359w like your and i have tomtom software too? so how can i make it work on my phone now. plz help thanks
