This is an issue with chinese homepage that's width wider than 240 pixel.
The new WM2003 'one column' function will usually force a page with width wider than 240 to fit to screen
Nevertheless, while viewing chinese homepages, this function doesnt work at all (it actually work with pocketpc 2002's PIE fit to screen function)
are there any software / registry hack that can fix this problem?
I had tried multiIE, pieplus 1.2 and ftxpbrowser
Although Netfront 3.1 works, but it does not support avantgo
PIEplus sometimes help, but not all the time....
If you do not understand what I m asking ,
use PIE and go to

PLEASE HELP
Hi,
I just installed the new K-Jam rom (K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship) and everything seems to be working fine apart from opera 8.5 beta 2 which worked very well with my older rom and now opera displays gibberish in the URL (address) line - it's similar to the windows windings font with lot's of weird characters.
The pages that I browse display ok too apart from some content like the google "search" button.
It seems to me like the wrong font is used in some parts of opera
Any ideas?
Works fine here, give me a url you are having issues with and I will try it on my KJAM with the latest ROM and Opera B2
I am having the same problems with Opera since ROM upgrade. When typing in a URL or a google search or anything, the font is similar to windings (i.e. not readable).
i found this beta really slow and screen becomes unresponsive using wifi. Installed cos of tabs but gone back to IE.
I managed to solve this problem by using Tweaks2k2.NET:
* I copied a verdana font from my windows xp machine to the pocketpc windows folder
* using Tweaks2k2.NET - chose the verdana as the default system font.
* Problem solved.
Just wondering what people are using to browse the web (other than the default browser) ?
I've tried Opera Mobile but it seems to play around with some of the text on the input area and screen (odd).
hi, had the same problem with opera. browsing seems fine in terms of speed but the language is distorted. i read the support page of opera, though it supports windows mobile 5.0 they said if you can't find your mobile phone in the support list then it's not compatible. they're suggesting opera mini instead but i haven't tried it yet.
currently im using netfront v3.3 which is so far the most stable for my atom. and browsing is so fast unlike PIE (sucks!). you should try mini-mozilla too.
for opera got funny character in input text. just copy the font arial.ttf from your pc window to atom /windows directory. and soft reset.
What do you know ... copying the font over work .... thanks Mazam.
Just out of interest, how does Opera compare to the others (Netfront etc.), are there really any major differences ?
No, don't use Opera. It's writen in Java and have good support for smartphone. Too bad. It's not really for PDA.
You can try Minimo - Firefox for PPC. Here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
One of the Minimo's good side is it show web pages with java script perfectly. Unlike Opera. Maybe Minimo load slower Opera little bit but it good enough for me.

Click to collapse
what do you mean opera is java platform.. that is opera mini, what i'm using is opera for mobiles...
u can go here http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/winmobileppc/
Opera mini 8.5 is bar none the best browser, especially when used with the 'fit to screen' option. After using it, netfront, pie, and all the others feel 'broken'.
I wanted to use Persian on my mobile but I couldn't install Windows Arabic with Persian support on my Hermes Softbank X01 which has a locked rom with Japanese WM5. I tried so many different commercially available keyboards and softwares, finally this is what worked for me at no charge:
1- On a clean installation of my windows, I installed Ecatco trial for Persian from http://www.ectaco.com/Language-Support-Persian-for-Pocket-PC (actually there are 2 or 3 other packages that none worked for me incl. paragon) There are Ectaco packages for other rtl middle-eastern languages.
With this installation I got Persian font and UTF recognition in internet explorer. Typing Persian in Windows environment (even Japanese outlook) is OK however the IE shows separated LTR characters. There is no choice by default for the text direction and practically it is useless.
2- After hours of thinking, I tried the new version of Minimo (Mozilla browser for PDA). It solved the problem of text direction. Moreover, unlike old fashioned IE, Minimo is an excellent and full featured browser. I just wish my Hermes had a little bit of more base RAM. BTW, you can download the latest (still beta?) version of this smart browser from http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
Now I can catch on my news reading in Persian on the way to work on board Tokyo Metro!
I have a Problem with Opera. When i try to enter my user data for example in stutdivz.net. The window of Opera start to get black from right to left and when i type 15 letters the hole window is black. I use RUU_Diamond_HTC_GER_1.93.407.1 ROM.
I have the same problem on another site. Maybe a newer Opera Mobile version will improve on this behaviour. Or try Pocket Internet Explorer. Not as nice, but it worked for me..
Now I have install Opera 9.5 "VGA 1938 - Full Install to Device Memory" and now it seems to be OK!
Ok, good to know, thanks!
