hi all . merry emas to all . my question is i just bought a bluetooth dongle for my land pc . so i can hook up to the net with my XDA mini . and surf the net thru my adsl on my XDA . ... how can i tell if i am still useing the o2 connection or my adsl or does it just take over when i hook the XDA up to the land pc while the land pc is on the net . is there something i am missing hear . is there something i need to do to my XDA to tell it i dont want to be connected thru o2 to the net . as i want to use my adsl connection to surf on my XDA how can i do this can someone help .also i just seen on ebay there is a cd u can buy that has all the apps for the phone is this full software or just trial software . ant of u guys bought this kind of thing before cheers

you can, you might have better luck than me. im still trying to connect to the net, i can view files from my pc and sync via activesync but thats it.

I have got the xda2s recently as well and I have been trying to connect to the internet via my router at home, but no use.....is it from the software or it needs some sort of upgrading steps??
I hope some one who is proffessional in this matter could reply to us and tell us what to do?

My brand new xda 2i has been unlocked and I am on vodafone and everything works perfectly apart from the wifi. I am wanting to connect via wifi from my xda 2i to my netgear wireless router which is connected to my pc on a 2 mb broadband connection.
But its hopeless. I have had the device for a week now and nobody seems to have a clue on how we set this up. i am getting all sorts of advice but none of it works. Is there anyone out there that has the answer to our prayers?

I offer to help. But you seem to want instant gratification, with no effort on your part. That's not going to work. Nor is doing everything everyone says. How many times will you post the same thread? To connect you need to do a series of steps. Little baby steps. Their can be a number of reasons why you can't connect, part of connecting is finding out what is wrong.
Not wanting to do it that way, I suggest you find someone local you can pay to stop by your home and set it up for you.

Im the proud owner of a shiny new XDA11i and would like to connect it to the net via a standard wired modem , ie not via GPRS / wifi/my lap top etc .
I travel and often have acess to a phone point . what is the best way to move on this one , GPRS will cost me a fortune , where as dial up is 1p per min !!!!.
Ive seen ads for SDIO modems ? do they mean removing my memory card though ?
Is there a modem availiable that will fit in the serial port at the base ? or is there a modem that comes with a USB connector that I could use ?
Any thoughts? Im sure that Im not the only person who is curious about this .

hi all i just had a big falling out with aol over them billing me 2 times in one month . i now dont have my land pc connection . i only have my xda2i and it seems to be fine to use on the net . (my question) is there any way i can use my xda for the connection and do the browsing with my pc . so i dont have to strain my eyes using the screen on the xda while i surf the net . can this be done . cheers for reading

hi guyz i downloaded the wmwifi router 1.52 yesterday ....i have an
htc touch(elf)
and i want to do this (pc)internet--->htc touch--->laptop
means i wanna share my pc internet to the laptop throught my ppc....
i tried it in all the way i posibble could but nthing happns.....the connection is successful but the it shows limited connectivity on both pc n laptop while the ppc sayz it cant obtain an ip.....
plz help

With the help of a couple of other people I have got this working on my G1 in adhoc mode. It acts as an access point to allow tethering. Laptop --> WiFi-->3G/Edge
This will take advantage of the 3G connection and use the wifi as the local lan.
I DID NOT do all the work on this.

connect my ppc via usb to the pc tat has internet thn enabling the usb to wifi option in wmwifi router so it can act as an access point...thn connecting my laptop to it....!!!!
now the thing is my laptop connects bt has no internet..!!!!

Just get a twisted - pair utp cable, and plug one side in your pc, one in your laptop.
Share the connection of the pocket pc, and your ready to go.
helloo............the idea is to make my ppc a router..!!!!!
Look for how to turn ur PPC as USB wifi
or
Make things simple, get a router/access point.
Enable Internet Connection Sharing in the PC. Google how to share internet in win and u will find it.
I think this is the simplest and the best solution.

You want to what? Why would you need to share the internet on your PC to your laptop? Just get a $30 router from WalMart for that.
If you want to turn your PPC into a router, WMWiFiRouter is what you need. But this lets you connect your laptop to the internet over your phone's DATA CONNECTION!
I have used WiFiRouter for a long time now, it is alright aside from draining the battery beyond anything imaginable and turning my HTC Touch Pro (Alltel) into a toaster over...
I have heard about XDA releasing a Free version of wifi sharing for vga devices like my Alltel HTC Touch Pro... where is the link to this, I googled/searched/went to Engadget/Gizmodo etc and can't seem to find it...

is the Laptop going to access pc internet thw ppc or do you want both to use cell data?
I have an htc diamond and have tried most of the things you all talk about but still to no avail, I want to use my diamond as a router for my lap top, i'm not the best w/coms so can someone help me that is patient

are you sure u can surf net using ur college wifi...have u tried using a laptop to surf...?

That thread which I mentioned is basically using your phone's wireless chip to look for wireless networks, making your phone a wireless modem
