Hello,
My MDAII has been a stellar performer until recently. The active sync process has been working since the initial connection to the host. Now when I try to active sync, I get the connection sound on both the host and the MDAII. Then a Communications Error box with the white X and red circle comes up stating "Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. Remote Networking could not start due to a critical error (Error 635). I tried a soft reset, hard reset on the MDAII, re-installing active sync on the host and still the same error. I tried upgrading the firmware on the MDAII but the process failed for what seemed to be the same type of error. I tried connecting the MDAII to another host and got the same problem. USB and Irda present the same Comm Error dialog box. It would seem there is a hardware problem in the MDAII. Any ideas from the wise gurus on this forum?
Thank-you for your time in reading this. Michael Peters.
i have just bought an mda vario on tmobile and i cant get it to connect to my microsoft active sync.
i downloaded 4.1 and it still doesnt work.
the vario connected fine with my friends laptop.
can some help me out
At a guess you've got a firewall on your machine, and it's not just Windows Firewall.
If you could tell us your configuration it would help, but meanwhile there's an excellent troubleshooting guide by Chris de Herrera on
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x.htm
Sygate products seem to be fundamentally incompatible , but try opening up ports as described and see if you get any joy
(This should be in the wiki, I'll have an edit)
how do i get my system configration for you , also when connect the vario to my friends laptop , it turns the computer off and i get a blue screen with error message
hello people
i´ve got a problem with my Activ Sync...
If i want to connect my wizard with my Notebook nothing happend.
i don´t know what´s the problem, because at the beginning there are no problems, but after a hard-reset there´s no connection.
Sorry about my english, it isn`t very good (i´am german ! But I hope someone helps me ...
Here are some informations about my system: Win XP with Active Sync 4.1 and a VPA compact 2 :?: :?
I have had similar issues with ActiveSync before, and usually what you will end up doing is reinstalling the ActiveSync version that you have on both your laptop and your Wizard. Are you getting any messages at all when you dock your device? Does ActiveSync display a message saying "Trying to connect" or "Looking for device"?
thanks...
the problem was a hub. i had a hub between the wizard and the laptop. without the hub the connection is possible and the problem isn´t there.
but on my desktop, (no hub between desktop and wizard) there´s the problem still existing. the desktop try to connect and search a connection, but... there isn´t any connection...
Troubleshooting ActiveSync is a pain, isn't it? OK, I have a couple of things you can try...hopefully one of them will work...
1. If you have a firewall running (and yes, believe it or not Windows firewall can even be an issue), it needs to be configured to allow ActiveSync applications to work. For that, you'll need to consult the software provider's manual or their web site. Most of them have already identified this as a problem.
2. If you have partnered to this desktop before, make sure that the partnership names haven't changed. In other words your laptop is calling your wizard by the same name as your desktop.
3. Are you running a home network? I think I saw this in another post here, that VPN clients can be an issue because the computer is viewing your mobile hookup as a network connection. Uninstalling the clients can sometimes provide the cure.
I hope that this helps.
shaker,
please ensure you have XP Service Pack 2 on both machines.
ciao!
hi everyone,
i have an artemis (mobile5) and the OS in my computer is VISTA, i tried to install activesync 4.5 but it told me cannot run on this computer, i downloaded the activesync for vista from microsoft website, but nothing....
Please if anyone know how to sync, send me a message
thank you in advance
I don't use Vista, but I think you should try Windows Mobile Device Center which is designed for replacing ActiveSync in Windows Vista.
Hmmmm yes if you have Vista, like I do, then it's not Activesync, but Windows Mobile Device Centre. Have you downloaded this?
When connecting my Artemis to Vista, it connects, but then takes a good 30 seconds before it begins synicing, but then completes very quickly.
If you have WMDC, what firewall are you using? Is WMDC and Sync Centre blocked?
thank you for your help, i already have wmdc but i think the problem is from the firewall, i sould disable it . i will try when i arrive home. thank you very much
anoir - have you now resolved this?
my vista notebook does not sync with my p3300!
no reaction at all from windows mobile device center!
try go to settings - connections -USB to PC and uncheck "enable advanced network functionality"
this worked for me. started to sync after 10 sec
Thank you did the trick
I've been using ActiveSync for my iMate Jam for the past 2 years through the USB connection on my laptop.
Last week I signed up for a 3G broadband connection with MTN (South African company) and got a E220 HSDPA modem which also connects through USB port.
Since installing it there seems to be something blocking ActiveSync through the USB as although ActiveSync does 'Connect', it can't synchronize. (Syncronise is lowlighted)
Uninstalling fixes the problem, so it definately is something in that software conflicting with ActiveSync. Obviously uninstalling is not a workable solution as my broadband won't work, and I need it.
I've downloaded and installed the latest ActiveSync and applications, but it made no difference.
My PC is a Dell Inspiron 640m running XP SP2 and my PPC is a iMate Jam running Windows Mobile 2003SE. I know ActiveSync uses port 990.
I've searched the www for a solution without success. Tried calling MTN support, but their techies were busy and not available..."
Has anyone got any suggestions on how I can fix this - Please.

Alternatively, if someone can point me at a website where I can find out how to set up synchronisation using BlueTooth between my Dell (Windows XP SP2) and iMate Jam (Windows Mobile 2003SE) I'd be very happy. I can only find sites that refer to other combinations and I'm unable to get it right.
Thanks
