I have the O2 Exec and wanted to get the battery icon back in the taskbar, but without going in to the Extended ROM and removing the o2 program that gets rid of it and do a Hard Reset.
Is there anyway (perhaps a registry editing) that allows this to work?

HKLM\services\power\ShowIcon
Change the 0 to 1
Then soft rest
The battery Icon shou;ld appear on the taskbar.

Got an exec, installed in Basic Mode, and evey time I reboot, I get the above mesage.. any thoughts?
You need to remove three files from the "\Windows\Startup" folder.
Active.lnk - causing the message you mentioned
Connections.exe.lnk
BatteryNFO.lnk - if you don't want the O2 battery icon on the top bar. If you take out o2 battery Icon, you can re-activate the standard battery icon (in the bottom right corner) with the following registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000001
If set to "0", this icon is disabled - for use when the o2 one is active.
Cheers - trying all that now....
~EDIT: Worked an absolute treat, thanks!
Howsitgoin all
I have removed the battery, and the screen rotation tool, but cannot find the reg hack to remove this, any suggestions?
Search the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr and change the DWORD Keep to 0, soft-reset and voila !!!
Sorry for my bad english ...
Be aware that all you do is hide the icon. The service itself keeps running.
RE
Hey bro,
How do you hide the battery and the screen rotation tool?
Which entries in the registry do I need to alter?
Thanks

Although they are greyed out, you can still enable/disable them by using the Settings menu. You will not get a GUI confirmation that they are on/off though, have to depend on the LED's.
it caused me a problem on the original rom, but on the latest rom it works fine for me to activate using an icon, or as I prefer Fn right arrow
GUI ?
Any idea/ workaround on how to get the GUI confirmation that they are on/off ?
I have this bar right above my soft keys (calendar and contacts) which is displaying battery status. How can I get rid of it. It is occupying my precious today screen space.
Remove init_tray from windows\startup
see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276300&highlight=init_tray
That works for the battery status. I have another program which is still showing up there. Is there another place I need to look at?
Try a soft reset. When the device starts up the comm manager bar should have gone.
i think that one appears when u do a bluetooth activesync connection...try disconnecting activesync...if this is the case there must be some reg key to solve it...
Whats the program, then it'll be easier to help you. Its probably in the registry.
At the bottom of the Today screen, you got your SOFT button functions written, and some icons for applications like Comm Manager & Battery.
Personally, I don't care for that section of the today screen.
I wish to use that space taken on my screen to have more TODAY plugins.
Is there such a mod/hack/registry tweak/whatever to do so?
you can remove the battery and comm manager icon by editing the registry like so:
Remove the Battery Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000000
Remove the Wireless Manager Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000
As for the soft key buttons, I do not believe there is a way to remove that bottom bar.
there is a possibility to remove the soft keys from the today screen:
use VJToggleToday2alpha
i dont think that'll work on wm6
Use Wisbar Advance 3 to remove that.
VJToggle works on WM6.
VJToggleToday2alpha works very well on WM6

I've seen the registry tweaks for comm mgr and battery.. but have not seen anything for the icon I get when I put the phone ni vibrate mode, and the other various app-specific icons (ie. I think Pocket Informant stuck an icon there). Seems more like there needs to be a setting to say "tray icons are disabled" vs. disabling each specific tray icon...

What's the Registry key? Write a quick script to get rid of it, and place it in your startup directory. I can do that for you if you'd like...

I'm not sure it would solve the problem, because if I change the state of the registry key, I have to soft reset the Touch to apply changes and during the boot process maybe the regsitry is changed.
For example, I installed PMC Today Shrink which is supposed to get rid of this tray and as you can see on the screenshot, I have both tray (with intellisync icon) and today tray (with Action and Contact).
Have tried an application called "startup manager" I've seen it here, but I can't seem to find it.
You should give it a go.
