Problem sending photos with Album - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I recently upgraded my Imate Jam to rom version 1.12 from 1.06. I used to be able to send emails with video or photos using the album program. Now when I try sending photos/videos via messaging using album, it seems to freeze or nothing happens. I did the Big Storage hack, so do I need to install one of those cab files to make this start working?

probably a good idea. I believe the MMS software is installed from the Extended ROM, because it certainly isn't part of the 2003se messaging app as standard.
One of them will need to be installed.....On my t-mobile branded magician, it was called...
"CAB-Acrosoft-MMS-2.5.0.28-ENU-MagicianAKU2.6-13May06.CAB"
should be something similar in your Extended ROM which will then allow you to send them.
Of course, it could be something else entirely!!! :?

Thanks!
Cool! I have that same cab file, so I may just do that! I even tried going into the messaging program and tried to add an attachment, which didn't work either. I got an error message about inserting a correct storage card, but my video was located in the main memory.

Not working!
Well, I installed the MMS Arcsoft cab file from the extended rom. It added the ability to send through MMS in Messaging, but it still cannot send photos/videos by clicking on the "send via email" selection in Album. I can't even add an attachment using Messaging. I get an error message stating that I need to insert the correct storage card. Can anyone tell me what I should do? I did not have this problem when I was using the Rom version 1.06 for my Imate Jam. I was able to just add an attachment or send videos via the Album program. In 1.12.10 rom, it is not working!

Does anyone have any solution? I saw one post where someone said they deleted their pmail attachment directory in the registry, and it worked for them; but I tried it and it didn't change the problem. I can't figure out how to add attachments to my emails.

Try to install all cabs from extended rom one by one and check for results every instalation.

I installed all the cab files but it still did not let me add attachments via messaging or album. However, I did a hard reset and tried attachments - it worked perfectly. I am not sure what caused the problem, but I hope it isn't the BT patch. I plan on doing a restore w/ Sprite Backup and hope it still works.

Error Message when trying to send attachments w/ PPC2003

I finally managed to send and receive e-mails using my ISP's POP3 account. All fine with plain text. The moment I try to attach ANY file with any size I get the following error message:
Message attachment cannot be added. Check to make sure the correct storage card is in the device. If your device stores attachments on a storage card, you must insert a storage card to add any files to messages"
Aside of this being a very enlighting message, the files I`ve been tryimg to add as attachments were residing on my main memory in the my documents folder!!!
Any clues???
Michael
is it set to store attachments on the sdcard ?
if it is then i suspect that it require a sdcard even if the files you add are not from the sdcard
because attachments of the outbox will prob still be stores on the sdcard
Yeah, I have a SDCard. But I get the message when trying to send attachments from the SD Card or from the Mai Memory. I haven't unchecked the "store on sd card" option. Will do that and try again!
Thanks
Hi everyone!
Anybody has a guess as to how send attachments with the I-mate?
Hy all.
I have the same problem.
The first time the message appeared was after upgrading to 1.72 rom.
Now I have changed to 2003se but still I cannot send mails with attachments (even if I try to store them in my sd).
Any help, please?
Impossible to send e-mail Attachments over a GPRS Connection
Hi Folks
After a long abscense and several hick-ups I finally managed to get ROM1.72 up and running. Almost turned my I-mate to paper weight! BUT.. Still can't send any e-mail with attachments. Does anybody have a clue?
Cheers!
Michael
Hi everyone,
I had the same problem and after a bit of experimentation, and getting really annoyed :x I managed to fix the problem on my device - as I really couldn't be bothered doing a hard reset.
Open up Pocket dbExplorer and delete the pmailAttachs database
I'd suggest you take a copy of the pmailAttachs database first - so you can restore it if this method doesn't work for you
MCEITLIN, you're saying that after a hard reset (assumed since you changed ROM versions) it still didn't work? If so are you performing any kind of restore, for files or anything?
Hope this helps.....
btw....depending on your settings I'd suggest disabling the 'store attachments on storage card' option first - just incase this is also a factor.
Error sending e-mail attachments
I found the file PmailAttachs but I have no means to either copy it, cut it or erase it. Do I need a special tool for that?
Neither exploroe nor Pocket explorer or Sprite's Pocket Monitor aloow me to reach the file!
Cheers
Michael

Pocket dbExplorer allows you to delete databases - as well as editing them. Remember to take a backup of the database just in case
You can get a free 15 day trial from here: http://www.phatware.com/download/dbExplorer22.exe
Thanx for this tip! It worked like a charm on my Qtek 9090!
Thanks, that solution also fixed the problem for me with M1000. Now can send attachments using pop3 gmail account.
Good bit of detective work there, Webspider. I was about to give up on this one.
Glad this has helped people
I suppose now the only problem is making sure that you don't charge up a huge GPRS bill....lol
I know I use about 3 or 4MB a day...so glad my data is FREE
Cheers WebSpider - You're a star!
I have this problem but cannot find the file - could someone please tell me where to look?
Hi there,

K-JAM MMS Configuration

I have posted this over at MoDaCo but i thought i would give it a go here as well.
I stupidly installed MS Global Contact Access (GCA) for PPC on my K-JAM to see if it would work (which it did) but it has caused other problems so i had to uninstall it. This is probably due to MS still not releasing a WM5 compatible version of GCA.
Now, when i open the messaging app and select "MMS Configuration" from the menu instead of the MMS Configuration screen it opens a New Meeting request.
Would anyone know how i can get my MMS config back without a hard reset? Is the setup for MMS in one of the cabs in the extended ROM or is it built into the main System ROM
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Chris
You can download a cab file from club imate for mms, sms settings.
If you know how to access your Ext ROM, you can have a look there and 'guess' the CAB that is resposible for the MMS settings. It should fix the problem.

No MMS Account in Outook? Solution!?!

Hi
I think I have a possible solution. Take a look at the attached file. It was in the o2 Active CAB file, and apart from setting up the connections, etc, it also enables MMS in outlook.
If someone can make sense of this, please help.
cya
Did you install the Ext ROM?
Well, I had the same problem with my T-mobile phone which I used for O2. I did not install the Ext ROM of my unit and there isn't any option for MMS. I solve it by digging into the Ext Rom and find one of the CAB (guess by its name) to install. And.. it works. I think you have to set some of the MMS settings which you can get from the web for your servic eprovider.
Yes, but I installed it using hte o2 Corporate mode. It adds the MMS account only when using Basic version. But the problem with that is you get loads of o2 active crap....
Thanks

MMS inbox ?

hi guys, can any of you help me and let me know how to get MMS INBOX back? I have upgraded to the newest Chinese Dopod ROM, I have installed the O2 MMS cab that I usually use on the English ROMs to show the MMS inbox back, but it installs but it still does not show up on the Chinese ROM.
Is there any reg hack I can do to make the MMS inbox appear again?
Or is there any other cab files out there I can try to make it show up?
Restoring the mail database after a ROM upgrade causes the error you described. When I restored my SMS/email with SPB Bakcup after I upgearded to AKU2 I found that my MMS inbox was missing.
I tried to find a way of fixing it, but honestly? nothing works. So I made a full backup, backed my sms with Jeyo. Restored everything BUT the SMS from spb backup, and used Jeyo to restore them.
I haven't restored my mail database with the backup as I do not keep messgaes anyway, so that is not my problem. As I said the cab file works perfect with the English ROM, just this Chinese ROM I cannot get the MMS inbox back.
PLEASE ANYONE?
I am willing to do it manually via registry if someone lets me know how
Have you tried launching the camera application, taking a picture and use option Send | Send by MMS?
This "unhid" my mms folder (hidden by latest O2 rom on my Exec) - no idea how or why
nope doesn't do it for me but thanks for trying anyway
try this
try this file
tried that, didn't change things but thanks for trying to help anyway. I think the main problem is the Chinese ROM system files are located in different folders to that of the English ROM therefore these cab files don't work. I think the only way is to do it manually, but I do not know the registry settings to do this unfortunately

My new TyTN...seems to be missing MMS...

...ok.
I just got a TyTN. On my HTC Universal, there was a MMS console or something...forget what they call it...
But it was flawless and there isn't one on the TyTN from what I can see...
Can someone help me out? It MIGHT be my general non-familiarity of the device so I don't see it...but I don't see any programs or settings that even come close to referencing it...
Thanks...
If I understand the questions correctly
From messaging.
Menu
Tools
Options
Select MMS
You have to install the Shortcut-MMS.cab from ExtendedROM.
I for one, didn't install it, cause the whole messanging application (SMS and E-Mail) starts much faster without MMS installed.
At the moment I'm searching for a proper replacement for MMS that's not that lazy.
Missing MMS Menu on HTC TyTn
Hi,
I have the same problem on my HTC TyTn. In fact, MMS menu is missing. I've read the answer but I don't know where I could find shortcut-mms.cab.
Could you help me, please.
Jee
unhide the extendedrom as described in the extrom unlocker thread. then you should find a file *shortcut*mms*.cab in the dir /ExtendedROM
Hi,
Thanx for answering. I've tried what it explained, but nothing happen. My phone coming from SFR (vodaphone). Maybe there is something else to do.
Regards
ROM Version 1.23.163.3
ROM Date: 06/18/06
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
Protocole: 32.53.7018.01W
Me, too, and I think I've got it figured out..
I have most of this problem solved but need one additional piece of info (at bottom); maybe someone can fill that in for me.
I got a new 8525 from Cingular.com the day they came out. The letter 'A' stuck so I had to exchange it for a new one. The first 8525 I had showed the MMS directory just fine but the second one they gave me did not. I'm not aware of any differences in the way I set them up or how this could be, but MMS has been missing from my second 8525 since I first fired it up. Cingular support was no help.
Here's what you need to do to fix it:
(1) You need to unhide the Extended ROM. Info on doing that can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283750
Note that in my situation my phone was already SIM unlocked, and I found that I did not have to CID unlock my device in order to fix this problem. Information on what the difference is between SIM unlock and CID unlock can be found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SimUnlock
(2) Now, when you open File Explorer, you'll see a new folder listed called "Extended ROM." Open that folder and you'll see a list of .cab files that can install various things for you.
Run the MMS installation .cab file called "MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes" to install the MMS function that somehow got missed in the initial setup. I found that I was not able to install this program to Extended ROM, and I did not try to install it to the storage card, but it installed in my Device memory just fine.
Open up Messaging, and you should now see the MMS folder, unless you soft reset, in which case you have to re-install. In my case, no configuration of the MMS function was needed, and MMS works just fine.
QUESTION: Whenever I soft reset my phone, I lose the MMS function again and have to re-install from the .cab. How do I make MMS a permanent feature of my phone?
I hope this helps folks get at least as far as I've managed and maybe someone else can help finish answering this problem. Thanks in advance.
OK...
Let's say a stupid asshole erased his ext-ROM and is now missing the whole Shortcut-MMS.cab .
Is it possible to flash back only the ext-ROM ?
Can someone send the .cab to the asshole (meaning ME!) ??
Thanks
