I have searched the forums but cant find this problem (if it is one) posted anywhere.
Basically, I was in the middle of pairing my Exec with my PC when I noticed the the left soft key changed from "Phone" to "Notification"
Thinking that I had got an SMS or missed call (didnt hear anything) I hit the Notification soft-key.
However, nothing happened!! I tried several times... but still nothing.
I checked the Notification Queue using "Check Notifcations" and "Pocket Mechanic" and everything was fine... nothig unusual there.
Did a soft-reset but still the left soft key read "Notification" OMG
I am going to have to resort to doing a Hard Reset (which I am reluctant to do) unless someone can suggest something that I am missing. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?
BTW the pairing completed successfully
The problem you are describing is normal. It is not a problem, the "notification" you see is an indication that your Universal is currently performing an avtive sync with your computer. So there is no need for a HARD reset. I often see that "notification" every 5 min, so long as my Universal is plugged-in my computer.

Hi,
I'm having exactly the same problem. And it persists even when my device isn't connected to computer. Mzaslam, have you find the solution?
Thx in advance,
Radek

No, unfortunately I wasnt able to get to the bottom of the problem. I opted for the easy way out - a hard reset. Thankfully, I didnt have much to lose in the way of sms or emails.
It wasnt related to an in-progress sync as cktlcmd had suggested. When the problem appeared, my phone wasnt even connected to my PC. I'm not sure if you have EXACTLY the same problem as I did. On my EXEC even when I clicked 'Notification' - nothing would happen. Is this what you are experiencing?
Have you tried doing a soft-reset? You might want to try and clear the Notification Queue - I didnt try that myself but I think its worth a go.
Sorry I cant be of more help.

My problem appeared during the normal using time, not when connecting to PC. I tried soft-reset (not once). And - nothing happens when I push the Notofication soft-key.
BUT, during the last night I did some investigation and finally found the source of my trouble. It was the SBSH iLauncher. When I disabled iLauncher, Notification disappeared. When I turned it on again, it appeared over the left soft-key, just like before. So, I think I have to change my launcher.
Thanks for your reply!
Cheers, Radek

I know there was a thread for this a while back as I read it when searching for something else. Now I can't find that thread (the search function in forums is never great!) but I suddenly have a huge problem with the built in Alarm function on my Wizard...
I've had a few issues before where when the phone is charging overnight it soft resets by itself and then sticks on the initial O2 screen. In the morning, I disconnect the phone from the charger and the phone then boots, I enter the password and the alarm goes off (usually later than the time I set it for). This is annoying but I can live with it.
However, this morning I had HUGE problems. It did the same as usual, phone was stuck on O2 initial screen so i unplugged the charger and the phone began to boot. I entered my password and the alarm started to go off but I was unable to switch it off at all. It does not come up with 'Notification' in bottom left of the screen like it normally does when the alarm goes off. It just kept going off even when I unset the alarm. I did a soft reboot but the same thing happened again. Also, the right-hand light at the top was orange even when the charger was not connected so the phone seems to think it is charging when it isn't.
I have managed to get it to stop thinking its charging by enabling wifi for a few minutes whilst charger is connected, then disabling wifi and disconnecting charger. But, every time I soft reset, the alarm starts going off and wont stop and the orange light comes back (while not not connected to charger). Also, none of my calendar items are reminding me 15 mins before the appointment like they normally do.
Is there anything I can do? I really don't want to hard reset if possible and certainly not just to stop the alarm! I am using Molski's latest 30Mb free WWE ROM. There isn't much installed, just PocketMax PhoneAlarm (great app!), TCPMP, handy Switcher, OMAP and OMAP+, Resco file explorer and Salling clicker. But I have had these apps for a while now. There is also SoftKey which appeared after upgrading ROM and I have changed my left button (directly above the call connect button) to Notes, perhaps this is why the Notification does not come up?
It is so embarrassing that a £400 phone cannot do something so basic as waking you up at the right time
I know a lot of people have had this problem with WM5 but has a fix ever been identified? Sorry about the huge post btw but any advice would be hugely appreciated
I'd say try reflashing that ROM or try another ROM...
The $400 phone was designed to work with the ROM from the manufacturer and MO that it was sold under... If the problem still persists under those circumstances than the problem is most likely hardware related and you should be seeking a warranty repair (if that option is avalible to you). Although, you were made aware when you loaded the cooked ROM that it could cause you problems and voids any warranty.
I had the problem (although not as severe as today) when I was using the default ROM that was installed from the phone company...
Also, from the last thread about this it seems a large number of people with different ROMS/devices have had the problem...I'll reflash if I have to but I'll try a hard reset first....
try removing phone alarm and see how it will now behave.
Read my post in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=275189
Thanks meschle, I think it's fixed, I had to soft reset then delete the notifications several times, but now it has stopped sounding the alarm every time I soft reset...
Saved me a hard-reset - much appreciated
on my Tytn it says "Clearing Duplicate Events Processing 67 of 66 events" and basically stays like that.
Any ideas?

Hi it froze - try deleting the duplicate notifications one by one (click on the notification in question) or try trial version of memaid http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14279
Hi folks, I receieved an sms whilst away from my phone (so i didnt see a preview) and now nothign works! Backlight is on all the time and the bottom of the screen has OK and Menu - in that order which is odd as OK is generally on the right. I have tried a soft reset and a battery removal but its still the same. Short of a hard reset is there anything else I can try?? Does that sound familiar to anyone else?
Many Thanks
Seems not after all. I kept resetting and it envtually came back ok.

Yes, it's curious how sometimes it takes a few soft resets to overcome an issue. You would think that having the battery removed for a while would have removed anything lurking around in temp files and memory.

Is the system responsive at all?
Ie can you do anything except hard reset?
Try syncing with your PC, and then you might want to erase a few of the default databases, eg pim.vol, in case they have become corrupted.

Today, my 8525 keeps freezing again and again. However, it's not 100% dead. The HTC task manager has the little icon on the right top corner, and there is an small arrow indicating "open" or "close". So when my 8525 freezed, that little arrow is fliping all the time. Also, today, when I connect 8525 to PC, using activeSync, it keeps disconnecting me, then the phone freezes. This never happend before. Does any pro have a clue?

Press the reset button.
I reset it many times. But the problem remains.
Are you running an HTC WM5 ROM. Have you checked he notification queue. Known problem. Google something like windows mobile 5 notification queue and you will get answers.
I am running it on wm6
Hm, interesting. I've seen that once on mine, which I just attributed to lag on the device. Pretty annoying to be sure.
Resetting did fix it, if you're still having trouble you may need to hard reset and/or uninstall some things.
Okay, so yesterday i installed Skyfire and SPB Insight. It was allright, reboot was fine, but i didn't like the software so i uninstalled them.
After that, the phone works fine, then i reboot it and it just doesnt reboot. It passed the SE logo, Xperia splash, and the Windows Mobile Logo. It then stops while loading my today plugin. Nothing i can do about it.
I reset it through the reset button, and it only managed to load my phone 1 time out of 5 reboot. By now im thinking that it there were conflict with my plugin after that uninstall so i just Hard Reset my phone, and load the backup from SPB (only contact, task, email and messages, no program)
It then goes well, until the problem happened again
I had less software installed (didn't use a lot of it last time around) and all the software i have now was just fine when i had them installed in my phone a while ago. So whatever the problem was, it survived through hard reset. Unfortunately
I suspect this has something to do with today screen. All plugin that i have now (added one) are SPB Wireless monitor, SPB Backup, Beejive. I only use SPB wireless as my plugin, the rest is not.
So what should i do now? What might be the problem? Im on R1A, so i suspect it might be a bug, and im hanging on to wait till R3A comes out...or should i just flash custom ROM?
If anybody could shed some light on this, i would be very gratefull.
Regards
Sheen
give the battery the full " charge "
Have you checked |START|SETTINGS|PERSONAL|TODAY|ITEMS| to make sure your today screen items are checked?
@lakeg
Full charge?
Its not about the battery....the phone has no problem with hardware, it just stucks in that today screen unable to load the plugin
Any idea?

Yes, i did unchecked the Skyfire and SPB insight before i uninstalled them.
After Hard Reset i only have the Date, SPB Wireless, Messages, Calendar, and Lock device checked.
Also i might add, after i unsinstalled them my today screen was behaving weird. The today items that i use was swapping order, i tried to change them around again, soft reset, and the problem happened
Edit: Totally off topic, u live in Newcastle mate? i use to live there in Jesmond

If you are still having problems after a hard reset (|START|SETTINGS|SYSTEM|CLEAR STORAGE|) there might have been a change to your registry which is stuffing things up. Might be best to reflash your rom or flash a new one (Touch-It 7.1 is great!)

I did the hard reset via the hardware button method. Is there any different with the Clear Storage method?
And correct me if im wrong, but through hard reset isn't that means that we "reset" everything back to factory state? i mean the registry should just be reset back to default isn't it?
I'll hang on a bit while waiting for R3A, if it doesn't come out in 2 weeks or so i'll probably flash one of itje's ROM...but again, how about the change in registry that stuffed my phone up?
confusing

Not sure if it makes any difference what so ever. I also don't know if registry changes revert back after a hard reset. It just seems odd that you are still having issues after a hard reset...
Anyway... nothing a new rom won't fix.
Goodluck with it

alrighty then, thanks for ur help then mate
just an update on my problem,
It seems that the culprit behind it all is my provider. Yes, u read it right...the provider. My Cellular provider has been having problem lately with their services. Dropped calls, late sms, and most annoying of all a slow/barely useable internet conection. The signal would shows that its fine, but in reality it doesn't. It just shows that i have signal but the network sometimes doesnt work.
This i think might be the problem why my phone stuck on today screen. It sometimes shows that i have no signal and then just freeze, or it sometimes shows that i have signal but freeze anyway. My solution to this is that i put my phone into flight mode every time i want to soft reset it, no problem so far....it goes away smoothly into the today screen.
i'll keep u guys updated if this method fails
Nope...it still doesnt work...
i hard reset my phone twice today because the problem still persist....its driving me nuts
Can anybody help? please....
All i can do now is wait patiently for R3A and hope it'll fix this problem....if not, im giving up on my X1...so frustrating...
I find that my Minis' on/off button is unresponsive occasionally and I was wondering if anyone else felt theres was also?
Ive only had this issue when the phones locked and I bring it in and out of showing me my status. It appears the bottom icons have to light up before it will react to my press of the on/off button again.
Same for me ! Sometime I need to remove battery to restart using my HD MINI ...
Any solution ?

I have the same problem, sometimes, the button is not responsive. There should be a solution for it. Someone has to report to htc.
I have the same problem, i think that it is caused by either to many running applications or by a application that hangs.
for the most i just have to wait a minute or two and then it works again.
Last time i connected the charger, it also worked and i have also tried to call the phone from another phone. it also worked.

yes... I think it's because of many programs... I have this when I'm doing something and I push the button fast to turn of the screen and suddenly remember I forgot something and push it again to turn on... I think It's normal!!
sometimes it's anything but normal, but i found a soft reset (or hard reset for that matter) often is the solution. So it's most likely an application or process that hangs, leaving it for a few minutes and then trying to unlock it usually does the trick
