Hi
does anybody known how I could read HTML email on my Xda Exec.
Thank you

Merry Christmas to everyone
You should try ProfiMail:
http://www.lonelycatgames.com/index.php?chapter=profimail
Started using it when I had a SonyEricsson P910 and bought a new license for my Qtek S100. It´s a port from an earlier Nokia version so it may not be the most beautiful looking application but the way it optimizes HTML-email for my handheld is unbeatable. And it's very easy to use.
html email should be accessed directly by web mail if there is

Followed the wiki instructions, but despite being sourced from Vodafone (Germany) for the VPA III, the software refuses to install on my V1605. The error message (translated from German) states System Software Found, the installation is not authorised.
Has anyone with a V1605 succeeded in installing BB Connect? Is this a possible clash with the Vodafone customisations or is it more likely a WM5 issue? Any suggestions gratefully received.
many thanks!
Jonathan
There is another BlackBerry connect client on the FTP, uploaded by Ice Blade and some discussion around it here.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/BlackBerry_Connect/
I've just updated the wiki with this info, but I haven't tried it and Ice Blade didn't reply to my question. If you try it and know the diference between the two BBConnect clients available, please update de wiki and point it out. Thanks.
Thanks! This works a treat. I will take a look at the wiki and see if there is anything substantive I can add.

wiki has been updated. Works well. I am not watching this thread so if anyone would like assistance please PM me.
blackberry connect and Lotus Notes
Hi JBN - do you know if this works with Lotus Notes and handles calender and tasks along with mail - I'd love to finally junk the blackberry and just have Hermes
ramblings
I'm afraid that I have no experience with Lotus Notes at this level. I would note however that the BlackBerry Enterprise can indeed work with Lotus Notes.
For what it's worth, my BES Administrator tells me that the same level of security functionality exists for BlackBerry Connect as for a regular BB. This makes it an interesting proposition although more difficult to support in terms of the platform compared with BlackBerry. We are slowly looking at Microsoft Push E-mail instead.
Despite the BB-like experience, including the scroll wheel, after a couple of days I have gone back to my old BB. The reason being that I am unsure about battery life and platform stability. It is OK for me as an IT professional but not something that I feel comfortable deploying to our users yet. However, I am childishly excited at having a means to get BB service in Japan!

I have been running Blackberry Connect for a while now on both my HTC Universal and on a TyTn (not at the same time). Whilst email works really well (using the vodafone Germany client), calendar is a different story.
Our Blackberry environment is Lotus Dominos (BES 4.0) and Calendar wireless sync has been a disaster.
Initially, the bulk calendar upload seems to have real trouble with "All Day Events" and canot represent them properly. However, once installed, everything seems to run really well. Two way sync back to teh Lotus Notes Calendar works, meetings invites in email can now be "accepted" or "declined". So far, so good....
However, when you reset the device, the whole device locks up and needs teh SIM taking out, BB Connect removing and start again!! Also, when you do this, random calendr events dissapear from your Notes calendar and meeting "declines" are often sent to the chair of the meeting!
Not good.
Hopefully BB Connect V4 will solve some of this....
hi,
I already own a nokia 6680 and just bought an O2 XDA mini S. I want to keep my nokia for business while the PPC for personal use. I was wondering if there is a way to transfer all your messages from the nokia to the xda directly from one messaging folder to the new inbox. Is there an export utility available?
thanks
Folks
I currently run Windows SBS 2003 with the bundled Exchange 2003. This acts as my domain server, with Outlook on my desktop and my Exec/Universal sync'ing to it for email, contacts, calendar etc.
Now sadly the server is on its last legs, and the install of 2003 is technically illegal, it wasn't when I installed, but it is now.
I've always been a Microsoft user, and I have no intention of changing my desktop or Exec to Linux, but is there a Linux/Solaris option available that would drop in and give me everything that SBS 2003/Exchange combination gives but is open source/free?
Tom
The Kerio Mailserver (also available for Linux) is Exchange-compatible in a way that you can sync your device with it... but I don't know any other alternative...
Cheers,

Interesting, I'll look at this more closely.
However, my mistake was I failed to mention that I was interested in an open source/free solution.
If such a thing doesn't exist, I'll certainly be looking at this.
Thanks
Tom
Another option would be one of those free Mobile Exchange services, such as mail2web Live. There you can sync through the Net and access your data using Exchange Web Access. I use this one as a backup service for my data.

Tom you should have a look at scalix. They offer a free (community) version and with a small fee a premium one. Very happy with the functionality. Excellent alternative to MS Exchange.

How complete is the replacement to Exchange? I guess what I mean, as far as my day to day use through Outlook and the Exec for email, calendars, tasks, contacts etc, would I know a difference?
Tom
Hello everybody,
I'm wondering if there is any email replacement application for WM5 available. I spent some time searching on the net, but couldn't find anything but a couple of names, like Pocketinformant or Flexmail.
I can't imagine nobody every thought of an application that would provide a bit more ease of use...
Thanks to tell if you know anything about this
Flexmail is very good but you have to pay $30 for it you can also try very advanced and free Qmail http://q3.snak.org/en/download.html
here is little bit more about program itself
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1344
I should also mention that it's PPCMAG awards finalist http://www.pocketpcmag.com/awards/category_all_2007_newquery.asp#CatE-mail
It's little bit hard to set it up but you can read this tutorial and you shouldn't have any problem http://www.modernnomads.info/wiki/index.php?page=Installing+and+configuring+QMail#Externalreferences
Qmail is not only email client but also news and rss reader, after initial setup everything works excellent for me so you might try as well, enjoy
Hi Guys
Long time lurker who has lusted after the X1 for quite some time.
I am persuading work to buy me one over the Blackberry that they prefer to supply us.
However I need demonstrate to them that I can receive emails whilst out and about . Trouble is we use Lotus Notes at work.
Will something like Commontime mNotes do the trick and is it possible to do what I want ? (receive emails from my lotus notes work server whilst out and about on the road)
In case it is relevant I am on Optus in Australia.
Cheers for reading.
You can use blackberry client for windows mobile, it seems it works great. For my concern I use XTNDConnect PC to synchronize my X1 and Lotus Notes 6. Follow the link (sorry in french but you can easily translate it) : http://www.smartphonefrance.info/actu.asp?ID=4877
If you have problems for translation : ask me
Ludovic
I am using Lotus Traveler, which a free application from Notes to sync your mail, your tasks, your contacts, even notes (the notes are within your mail template allready but not directly accessable, our notes IT guy changeed the standard mail template a little but - was a 5min hack - and schwupdiwup I have now notes) are possible.
It works quite well, previoulsy I had also xtnd connect but now not any more.
BUT: You have to set up a seperate server who is running this Traveller application in your company.
It is working also like push mail (realy within a minute or so) but than this is sucking the battery very quickly, so I am just "kicking" it from time to time to retrieve my mails.
You need to install a cab file on your phone do the setup and than it works.
In the futere I have heard it should be alos available for Symbian and iPhone but so far since 1 year only WM is availalbe.
Best regards
dingolino
Happy New Year all
Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
So, the good news appears to be I can set up the Xperia to receive emails on a regular basis whilst out and about like a Blackberry would ?
Time to start the work negotiations !
