Do you experience lag on your universal?
When you have install SPB pocket plus, and recall from stanby?

Any solution for this?

Pocket Plus and Xda II Lockups (1.66 ROM)

We have noted some strange locking up of our Xda II's over on the MTekk forums requiring a hard reset. We have a number of threads running at the moment but the main one is here.
I have been in touch with Spb about this and they inform me it is actually an HTC and MS issue. Below is their email response.
Hello David,
We do our best to fix this problem ASAP. We work hard with HTC and
Microsoft now on this problem.
But this problem occurs not only with Spb Pocket Plus but with other
programs too.
We have feedback from HTC and Microsoft about that (sorry, I cannot
disclosure more
details since it is information obtained from our partners).
So I am not sure we will be able to fix it in Spb Pocket Plus - probably
HTC will fix it in their ROM.
Spb Pocket Plus does not use any undocumented functions that can cause
such behavior.
Probably we will disable running Spb Pocket Plus on these devices at all
until HTC fixes this bug in ROM
Pocket Plus 1.x is not available online now but I can send it to you if you want via e-mail.
If you bought Pocket Plus 2.x and can't use it, you can always ask for refund.
If you have any questions, please, don't hesitate to contact me.

It appears as though this issue could also be happening with version 1 of Pocket Plus on the 1.66 ROM (and some 1.72 ROM's too).
Thought you guys might like to know. Generally I find Spb products to be good, but it appears as though Spb are being blamed for this issue. I think this email help point the finger in the right direction.
Dave
Hi djwhyte
This is some strange stuff as I've been running Pocket Plus 2.0 for a few months and have recently installed 2.1 (just for the hell of it I think its only a VGA update from what I can see)... but have not had any problems on my XDA II before, hear are my details of my device if this helps:
ROM Version: 1.66.00WWE
ROM Date: 02/20/04
Radio Version: 1.08.00
Protocol Version: 1337.18
ExtROM Version: 1.66.165
The only thing I could think that I MIGHT be doing diferent is that I do not use the today screen pluging (I use all other features like repeating allarms and task mannager!) At the begining I did use the today screen and do not recall any problems as well I've taken it off because my today screen was getting to cluttered with other software I am running.
Not sure if this is going to help you but have to tired installing Pocket Plus with NO other applications installed after a hard reset? It might be a conflict with other software or even a totaly other product causing the problem? Not sure hope this can help you!
Regards
Fudge!
Pocket Plus 2 is installed in my wife's XDA2 with 1.66rom. its almost 3 weeks now and so far no problem. my XDA2's rom is only 1.60.
Hey thanks for info guys.
I will have to try without the today screen pluggin and see if makes any difference.
Boybi, your wifes Xda II which is on the 1.66 ROM, does it have the today screen plugin enabled?
Dave
is the Today Plugin the one where you can put battery and memory bars, and put some icons? if yes, then its enabled.
i too am having problems with the spb pocket plus v2.1 using xda2 with 1.66WWE ROM version. i get hang ups and the unit would do a hard reset. good thing i always do a backup of the contacts and appointments!
aside from Pocket Plus, what other Today Plugins can you guys recommend?
I was wondering what was the lockup caused by. I uninstalled the SPB GPRS and SPB Pocket Plus and now it's ok. No more lockup. I had to hard reset, but couldn't initial find the problem until the trial expired, weird. I guess that's why I bought it.
I find GPRS monitor is OK!!
I have a feeling the Today plugin is the cause as I have had no such crashes since I installed it again with the today screen disabled. What part of it I don't know though.
Boybi, which icons, sliders does your wife have enabled on the plugin?
One thing to note on this, is that SPB update their software silently and don't tell ya about it.
So get the latest build of PocketPlus and try again.
Cheers
my wife's XDA2 just locked-up today! can't turn it on even using soft reset. so i think its really the Pocket Plus! now i disabled the today plugin.
Ooooh Sorry Boybi, I hope I didn't curse you but that sounds like the lockup.
I have been running sweetly for three days without the Today screen plugin for PP2. How long did your wife have the Today screen showing before it locked up? Days? Weeks?
Cheers,
Dave
Possible LOCKUP?
DJWHYTE,
im using pocket plus ver 2.1 on a 1.66 ROM XDA II, just installed it 24 hours ago, no problems so far.
All featured ITEMS enabled, Today Plug-in, File Explorer enhancements, Pocket IE enhancement, Looping Alarm, etc..
Im very disturbed by what I just read in this thread, although I have experienced 1 LOCKUP, it happened while SPB Pocket Plus was NOT YET installed.
Can anyone please advise HOW LONG was the average time FROM installation of pocket plus DID the LOCKUP occur? and what your POCKET PLUS version and ROM versions are?
Certainly would put most of us at ease.
Cheers

With my previous 1.66ITA it worked for about 3 months without troubles (PP 2.0 first and 2.1 later) .
After the upgrade to 1.72.04ITA no chance to install it anymore; it freezes and the only way out is hard resetting.
Spb team says that they are working on it... hope so, otherwise I will claim for my money back.
My experience up to now is that PP is white or black: it works or not, at all. In your case it works, so I would not worry too much...

Good, now I can sleep better knowing my XDA 2 will still turn on tomorrow when I wake up. Thanks DAVE.
Any other observations out there?
I may DREAM better if there are, hehehe.
my wife's 1.66rom XDA2 runs with PP2.1 for 2 weeks without any problems until yesterday.
maybe other apps?
boybi,
pre,
maybe another app caused the lockup? you havent installed anything new in those two weeks? may i please know what your apps are?
mine are:
1. pocket plus 2.1
2. my calendar
3. pocket zen
4. flash player activeX
5. morphgear
6. calendar plus
7. pocket translator
8. pencil box
9. calc98 and aidem calc
10. betaplayer
11. SB check notifications.
12. vbirthday
just want to know for comparison AND app finger-pointing.
thanks.
I too have had the problem
Ever since I installed the Spb PocketPlus ver 1.x and onward I have had that problem. It occurs rarely but often enough to annoy me (1-2 times/month). It seems to make no difference if I disable the Today screen. I have removed it now. I don't have much other software on it, except for Destinator 3 and a painting program. I won't return to PocketPlus until the issue is solved.

The italian localized 2.1 will not work on the 1.72 ROM, to make it works you need to install the 2.0 and after it the 2.1.
No problems at all

I do. It a great program without many useful feature. Why don't U try the trial and find it out yrself?
just wanted some quick thoughts before i install it
gonna try it now, thanks for the reply!
Short summary:
It's great software, it does great stuff, it's useful for closing apps etc, watch out for the Today plugin showing free space on SD cards (there are issues), it can be resource hungry, but it's a useful package generally.
V
The guys on the forum recommended it to me.. yes! get it!! I started with version 2.5 and am now running 3 happily!
It's one of the inest programs for the PPC and worth every penny.
thank you everyone for your comments! i tried out the trial and find it great.. im buying it right now along with the full keyboard

Black screen!

My neo turns off after 3 minutes of not using it. Sometime when i want to turn it on it is blocked. Screen is black, led is flashing and helps only if i make soft reset. Why?
i have lvsw rom, radio rom 47, or is it maybe because of software?
thank you for your help
Do you have a screensaver or something installed?
I had the same problem with some other rom and SPB Pocket plus... without SPB pocket plus it was working fine...
I had to hard reset my device and re-install SPB pocket plus... after that, it was ok!
i dont have screensaver or spb pocket plus. Is it maybe because of program bateryStatus?

hm... you could try disabling BatteryStatus and observe if the problem is still there. There is a user reported a similar problem with the current "proof of concept".

IMHO use Wisbar Advance 2 and Wisbar Desktop (neither are freeware but both come with trial period if you want to try them).
Go to Lakeridge forums here:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/index.php
See here for one of many different personalised WA2 & Wisbar Desktop combos:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10348
There are several other apps that give a similar effect but are not truly as customizable as the above mentioned combination.
Freeze
When I use WA2 and WAD my Ameo freezes vey often. The last week I had so manny freezes that I decided after hard resetting ten times not to use WA anymore. My Ameo is now stable again.

Funny you should say that. I've been running WA2 from day 1 of having my Ameo, but then I'm not using the latest beta version (too many bugs from what I see on lakeridge forums).
But the other night I installed WAD (it looks so good from screenshots of other peoples devices that I chose to give it a go). Didn't like it and uninstalled it after playing with it for an hour.
Today my GPS would not work at all....can't be sure, but I put it down to WAD and opted for a full system wipe and rebuild.
Glad I did it now....everything is rosy again (including WA2 without WAD and TomTom and I are pals again).

Anyone using eWallet and Memmaid or Pocket Mechanic?

I'm very interested in this beautiful pda and was wondering if the applications indicated in the subject are correctly displayed.
Anyone who uses them?
Thanks a lot
eWallet - working w/o problem with resolution..
Pocket mechanic has a problem... Don't install it..
That's very kind of you, I've been looking for ages for this info, thanks a lot!!!
I'm also interested in memmaid in order to keep the registry in perfect order. What do you use for this task?
until now i did't find a resolution if someone finded plase to write...
Why don't you try Memmaid? Here in Italy lots of people use it and say it works.
Memmaid or Pocket Mechanic are working fine on my HTC HD mini!
Thanks a lot! Which one would you recommend between the two? I've been using the Pocket Mechanic but since this application is not anymore updated I think as soon as I'll get the Mini I'll switch to the Memmaid. What do you think?
