Are you using a launcher for your EXEC? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

What launcher are you guys and gals using for your EXEC or HTC Universal? Any slow downs or comments you can give would really help me decide which is better is really appreciated.

I am using HandyLauncher. It is really good for Universal as it will not slow down your toy compared with others like SpbPocketPlus or BatteryPackPro.

[POLL] The best, fastest, stablest QVGA UI

Hi there!
i wanted to start a Poll to find out what do you think is the best UI for PPC out there at the Moment! Cause i was using ThrottleLauncher...if you install it it works well, but if you use it very often it becomes slower and slower...so this is not an option for me at the moment!
If you know an UI that isnt mentioned, post it here
Here are my suggestions:
ThrottleLauncher 0.9.2
Mobile Shell 2.1
rlToday
UltimateLauncher
MusicFlo
HTC Home with Plugins
iFonz
XIA-MultiTheme
WA3 & WAD2
Other (post which)
greetz,
infernalshade
ThrottleLauncher 0.9.2 - didn't try
Mobile Shell 2.1 - feature packed and beautiful, but not very fast. No problems with stability so far
rlToday - didn't try
UltimateLauncher - interesting, but isn't visually appealing to me
MusicFlo - Diamond ripoff...
HTC Home with Plugins - too weak to be useful
iFonz - iPhone ripoff...
XIA-MultiTheme - I don't know this one
WA3 & WAD2 - sloooow as heeellll and requires way too much RAM to bu used on my 200 MHz 64MB ram herald
Winterface - lightweight and extremely fast, but too weak and ugly
PointUI Home - once loaded very fast, is very beautiful, but has several problems I hate (no czech characters, decreased contrast, ...)
My vote: Mobile Shell 2.1
Battery drainage is a major issue with most fancy looking shells.
Should you take this into consideration ?

No i think not...cause i think the battery drain isn't on every device!
This seems to be fixed with MS2 for me, I suffered this a lot with v1 though.
hm...UltimateLaunch on the First Place at the Moment...I havn't tried this till now
Ultimate Launcher's simply awesome, fast and stable, with no noticeable payload to resources...
here's mine

The vid looks cool, but the Screenshot is broken in your post
I currently use UltimateLaunch, WA3, and WAD 2! That's right WAD 2, go check it out. The new additions are amazing! Adds transitions to pages and opening apps, just a list whole of things!

but you need a high-end phone for WAD2 it's very memory-hungry
the fastest a the most stable is PointUI without any doubts, but like my Czech college wrote, it doesn't have so much features like the others...
can you add it please into survey selection?

Then sorry, it's not much of a poll, lacking as it does an app that would probably be in most people's top three.
Musicflo? XIA? Swap one of these for PointUI and you are on to something. As I would vote for PointUI - I have no affiliation to the company, I'm just an admirer of their work - I cannot currently vote, which is a pity!

Well...i've tried that, but how can i change a Item?! i din't find a option to do this!
For me now "HiNavigator"
Point UI is indeed a great interface.
It has several major drawbacks though:
-lack of plugins API (will be available 4th quarter apparently)
-lack of skin support
-lack of customization (hotkeys, icons, etc)
-battery drain on certain devices
-buggy when receiving a call, keeps the alarm from ringing in the morning (sic!)
These are major problems that made me uninstall this software, nonetheless, it's a very promising product, and the developpement team seems very competent (few releases but with many improvements). It's just a pain that it will become a commercial product soon, well.. we'll see if it's worth the money then.
I still have to try ultimate launch
Voted for MobileShell... All the other either don't work (or sometimes don't even start), are way too slow, or are just another iPhone or Diamond rip-off.
i wonder why there is no pointui in the poll...
for me it is far the best!

Good TouchFlo interface?

Hi all,
Just wondering, I know the universal doesn't have a capable graphics chip, does anybody know whats a good touchflo interface, fast without so much lag, stable, lightweight?
I tried throttle launcher a while back, to resource intensive, super slow and buggy. Anyone got it right with the new one?
The best solution i guess is legendary SPB Mobile Shell 3. I guess that could work smoothly on the uni, but what's the memory (RAM) footprint like, since many of us are using the 64mb uni?
I've also seen alot of talk of Manilla or is it Touchflo 2d, so many forums, though mostly relating to newer phones.
Anyone who has found a great touchflo like interface for uni let us know. At the moment my today screen is all about quick access with SPB Pocket Plus Today and HTC Home VGA integrated to the Home page for that old touchflo look of the old original Touch.
My 64mb Uni does not support heavy graphics and I prefer good performance over nice looking
I´m using large HTC home VGA and works great

SPB MObile Shell 3.5 - anyone used this

Has anyone used this and what are your impressions compared to HTC Touch 3D. Does everything work, any problems?
I have this and find that it runs a little smoother than touchflo.
I have just started using 3.5 but have used previous versions and liked them. It's pretty smooth, and much more customizable than TouchFlo - kinda like the Android interface. (Although I have to mess with it a little more - they've changed some things since 3.0, and I can't figure out how to get some things customized the way I had them before on my Touch (vx6900).
Previous versions had a little bit of battery usage issues, but I'm having that issue anyway with my Imagio, and it doesn't seem like it's using it any more than Touch Flo was. They have a 15 day free trial, and it's worth at least trying it out...
how do I add new widgets to 3.5
just tap the bottom right hand corner "drop up" menu - add widget is in there

Not that crazy about it. It's total eye candy, which is cool, but imho it makes things unnecessarily complicated and convoluted.. Plus, there's the huge interface consistency issue that bugs the hell out of me..
Yeah its Purty!!! And very flexible but I uninstalled it after i used the 3d carousel for a minute or so lol.. I just needed to see what it looked like in 3d since I didnt have that option on my omnia. its one of those things where it all depends on what you need your phone to be.. for some its just right, others too much and for many not enough.. mainly because SPB doesnt open it up to the community enough.. it definately does not have as much OS integration as touchflo..

Best replacement home screen

I have been looking at the didnt home screen replacements that are on the market, and have tried some of the free ones however they where a bit bugy and slow (but i guess that's why they are free as they are in beta stages). SO my question to you is which do you think is the fasters, most feature rich home replacement?
I am running a android 2.01 ROM however if it dosnt support this its not a bigy still let me know because i may switch back to a faster rom anyway
One vote here for Home++
Tim
Slidescreen. New. Not for everyone but very cool.
slidescreenhome.com
Thanks for the ideas guys!
c130pilot i like home++ but it still seams a little bugy to me so i couldnt use it day to day
Atae i like it, but the lack of being able to have screens with widgets etc is a big draw back for me i think.
Any more ideas anyone use any of the payed home replacements? any that are really good?
Also take a look at Panda (free) and GDE (paid).
I haven't yet determined witch I like the most.

I've tried most of the paid home screens, and they're all slower and laggier than the standard homescreen. You're better off with the original.

[Q] touchflo3d on Milestone

Hey guys!
I was wondering if someone made touchflo3d work on android especially milestone ?
The thing is, i put like all home replacements on my stone like launcher, adw, regina3d, zune, golauncher(best in my opinion). But go launcher uses 20mb, gosms 10mb (i ve got 20mb left using with some widgets) so compared to touchflo they are all... lets say ok.
I know that home replacements are highly costumizeable and i managed to have all my 100 apps available now with one click or swipe+click with mixture of golauncher and AppManager, which i will describe in another thread soon.
But before i switched to android, i was using wm phones and always had touchflo working, the launcher dock with the swipe may be the best ever invented, so it would really be a step back, not to use at least something similar.
Is there something similar in the market or a rom maybe ?
Have you tried zeam launcher?
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Zeam seems to be the smallest one as I can see.
Used Zeam now, seems to be very fast and nice.
i will test it for some days
