Is there a way to keep my JASJAR keyboard backlight on permanantly whilst it is open? Keeps going off after 10 seconds or so, but I want it on permanantly cos it looks cool in my Brodit cradle at night.
Our trusted reseller MadMonkeyBoy has this registry hack easily available as a CAB file on this page:
http://www.dweiniger.com/tips/jasjar.shtml
Would be better if you could turn it on/off with a button - any ideas

I tried this on my Qtek 9100 (the same tip exist for k-jam/wizard) but it doesn't work! Any ideas??
Tried it on a 9100 and it works for me. Did you do a reset after you changed the settings? Also what apps are you running and I can do some work on it for you.

Yes, I did soft reset it several times...
I'm running Pocket Plus, besides that here is the content of my Startup folder:
poutlook.lnk
sddaemon.lnk
CapNotify.lnk
Init_Tray.llnk
Services.lnk
spb GPRS Notify.lnk
PQz.exe
PS. I'm running Swedish version of Wm5.

is there a software that flips the desktop 90 degrees?
A lot of software would become more usable e.g. Excel, IE etc.
Thanks
JS Landscape, Nyditot. But I didn't test these softwares on the XDA II...

Back your **** up prior to installing any funky software Bro.
Last time I installed JS Landscape, it ****ed up my XDAI.
Try it before you buy it:wink:
Peace and more peace.
On XDA II:
JsLandscape does not work. They are working on a new version for PPC2003. It will freeze your device and you will need a HARD RESET.
NyDitot on the other hand works OK, but do NOT use the shortcuts it creates in the programs menu. (One of them is called reset or restore something) and will freeze your device so that you need a HARD RESET.
However, if you just use the icon it creates in the settings menu, it works fine.
Where can you get "NyDitot"? I can downlaod it from the website but you need a regisration code, which you seem to get only get if you recieved "NyDitot" as part of a bundle software.
Doh, forget my last... found that you can buy it online, or even try it for free at www.download.com
NyDitot (downloaded two 3 weeks ago) locked up my Qtek 2020 - had to hard reset. Be careful....
Osandlan,
thanks, I did have a few problems running it, froze a few times, was only a trial version so I have deleted it now...
im using nyditot v3.22 on my xda running wm2003 v4.01.00 and it works fine for me i use it on 360x480 landscape and its wicked for the internet
i put it on max res and the buttons were too small to use the stylus lol
I'm using the latest version nyditot on my XDA II without any problems, but it's always wise to perform a backup before installing anything: I've had a lot of hard resets through software on the XDAII, far more than on the XDAI.

Warning, do not use. It did not work on my i-mate with Dangaard 1.60.21 ROM installed. After I tried to change to landscape I had to hard-reset.

Hi!
I know its available for non-WM5 system
Anyone knows where to get Today plugins for Soft Reset and PowerOff programs
I do not require bundling with other main programs just only simple plugins.
Thanks

Hum if i press shutdown after i have installed it only shutdown the backlight and then back on again not really of as i can do with my qtek 9100
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=4692
I have been using this software without any problem in my Dopod 900
I don't get it. Why would you pay $3.99 to shut off the device?
You can use my VJKeyPress with a command line 223 to power off the device, as indicated here:

thanks vijay555, now my universal shutdowns right.
I've got an XDA Mini, but installed using the corporate install - no O2 rubbish.
I used the registry hack to change the dialpad back to the original WM5 one, but now the smartdialler thing won't work. I've changed back to the O2 one and it works again.
Any suggestions to get smartdialler working with the WM5 dialpad?
Cheers.
The extended Rom contains additional configuration and registry settings as a CAB. I reset mine without the O2 stuff then ran Smartdialing_enable_0915_signed.CAB from the extended rom directory. Restart the device after that and you've got the smart dialler back (well thats how it worked for me anyway!).
Does not work. It is possible more in detail?
I think will not work!
I Have a T-Mobile MDA Vario, chnge registry too because don't like T-Mobile Dialer skin, and smartdialer not work anymore... same as bsterngillet.
Now I change ROM to Qtek and work dialer and smartdialer WM5 default... and is much light = speed!

When you say not working, do you mean the .CAB file is not there or that nothing happens when you run it?
If it isn't there I could post my copy to the internet but other than that I am only going on my experiences with UK ROM's I'm afraid! On another thread, user 'Plantagoo' has cleared up what the CAB files do more so it may be that your device does not have the smartdialler program (I'm just guessing here!).
Where to take Smart Dialing for Pocket PC ver. 2.2?
Hi,
i want to use PQz which can remap some keys of the HW keyboard to be CTRL or ALT. So CTRL-C and CTRL-V as on the big brother - PC - is able.
Unfortunatly i get an error message after starting PQz:
Keyboard Hook failed
At first i thought that is Cap-Notify causing the problems and have renamed it from the autostart folder. But it seems that this is not the problem.
Has anybody the progi up and running? For a complete installed prog list of my device see below.
Here are the links to PQz:
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/DOC/index_e.htm

Yes it works for me on my Qtek 9100 with PQz not PQzII unfortunatly.
Have you try to install PQz after a hard reset to see if you have the same message with no other apps install. If not try after to install one app after another to see the one who is hooking the keyboard.
No problems here using PQZII on my 8125 with the 2.17 ROM.

Which apps have you installed? Anyone not which is on my list?
And what apps have you in your Autostart folder?

I have tried PQy II only. I have deactivated all "critical" apps (Magicbutton, Smallmenu, Smartskey, Capsnotify etc.) to see if this has an impact on PQz2 - but it worked not at all :x
What error message did you get during using PQzII. The same as mine?
I will give PQz one a try
I have solved the problems:
It was PocketBreeze. I have checked the option: only PocketBreeze uses DPAD in the general settings section. After unchecking it, PQz2 works like a charm.
Use with CapsNotify?

Wow! Good catch! Saved me some trouble. (Mine wasn't bombing but D-Pad was inoperable)
Here's another issue. It seems to mess up the CapsNotify tweak. A little square shows up instead of the dot or the circle. Anyone find a setting that takes care of that?
I always used AvantGo on my old PPC, so wanted something similar for my Exec. I found Newsland on MS's website (yeah, I know, I deserve everything I get) and it had some good reviews.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work, and the website I'm supposed to register with is no longer in existance. The only site I can find is in Russian.
I thought "Stuff it" and tried to remove the software. I used settings>remove on the Exec. It has gone from the program list, but the software is still there. I tried removing it through Activesync, same result; gone from the program list, still on the Exec. I've tried a soft reset, it's still there, taking up room. Any ideas?
Newsland Remove
Hi,
I think the following is happened:
The Today screen plugin of Newsland was still active wen you tryed to remove Newsland. What you need to do is, try to install the software again, and when this is done deactivate the today plugin. Than remove the program again. After that you can look with the File Explorer and look at Program Files if the map Newsland still excist's. If so, you can delete it!
Hope this helps,
Cheers Leo
Does this mean AVantGO does not work in our Universal? Any other alternative to get NEWS REPORT on our Universal?
@cktlcmd
Hi,
If you want to use a good newsreader!

For me this is the best, tried Newsbreak and SPB Insight but this one is much faster and better designed.

Thanks. I checked the site. I do have a question. Does it support landscape view on our Universal? All the screen shots I saw were portrait view.
Landscape view
Hi,
Yes it does, I love this app, works smoothly!

Thanks very much.
Thanks Laurentius26, I'll try it now.
To the person asking if AvantGo works - it does work, just fine, in landscape or portrait. Just go to the AvantGo website and download the latest version. Annoyingly, it insists on syncing through it's own software rather than going through Activesync, and it seems slower to upload than it was on my 3 year old RX3715.
Still, it does the job just fine. I wanted to try something a bit different, so I may have a look at the other suggestions.
Edit - worked like a charm. Thanks again.
