Anyone using the BT800 ? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Wondering what people's opinions are of the BT800 with the Wizard...
does it work well ?
do you have Caller ID ?
is there any way to add a neck strap to it ?
is the caller's name scrambled ?
Thanks !

I have a BT800. It works fine with my Wizard, My Universal and my Himilaya (which has WM5 on it).
Caller ID only displays the number rather than the name but a fix (to microsofts bluetooth stack) is rumoured to be in the pipeline!
I can't see how you'd add a neck strap other than with a bit of a bodge!

Thanks for the comments !
Hope the BT stack upgrade helps...

XDA-II doesn't Pait With Sony Ericson HBH-15

Hi!
Recently I Bought a XDA-II and now i want to use it with my Sony Ericson HBH-15 bluetooth headset but XDA doent pair with it...
Kindly guide me in how to overcome with this problem or XDA doesnt support this pirticular models..
----
Sanjeev K Purohit
Had the same problem with my HBH-10, but found the solution.
You have to pair your HBH-15 with a Ericsson Phone, and then change the default passkey 0000 to a diffrent one, and then it should pair with your XDA II.
How to do so, check here
wormeyman.com/downloads/HBH10-R3B-EN.pdf
under 'changing the passkey'
A NEw Problem Now!!!
Thnx a lot bro!
But Now thr's a new problem..
Untill using MS bluetooth stack the call used to get transferred to HBH-15 but since I've installed Widdcom Bluetooth stach The widcom can pair with HBH but cant connect..
When I turn it Off and turn On MS bluetooth It transfers the call occasionally may once in five times...
Isnt thr a sure shot way(kinda some tool that will transfer the call to headset straight away...
Regards
Sanjeev
yeah, but that's still the problem that no one got the Widcomm stack working a real 100% reliable. I know tha MS BT sucks because of the many missing profiles, and even worth it's not very 'stable' on my Magician, but still the best option. Sorry mate, but you probably have to live with it the way it is.

XDA IIi, 2020i, Imate PDA2 and BT headset with Caller ID

I am the happy owner of an iMATE PPC (XDA II), but will be "upgrading" to the new iMATE PDA2 (XDA IIi, 2020I) shortly (in May). One of the shortcomings of the original iMATE is that it does not support caller ID on a BT headset such as Jabra's BT800 or Sony Ericsson.
Can anyone tell me with certainty whether the XDA IIi, 2020i (or equivalent PDA2) supports caller ID on the Jabra BT800 without any modifications (ie, out of the box support)? I don't care if the name displays or not, as long as I can see a phone number or something.... The name would simply be a plus. I don't want to hassle with "upgrading" or "patching" the existing bluetooth, etc, etc... I just want to know if it will work as delivered.
Thanks in advance.
-Kevin.
i have i mate pda2k
with jabra bt800
i can have the caller id but not the name.
PDA2
Hey Kevin-
Where are you getting your PDA2 in the US? I still have a T-Mob Phone Edition & need to upgrade ASAP. I see Expansys will be getting them.
Good question as I will be getting a BT headset after I get the PDA2.

I have the Sony Ericsson Akono 600 with the display and a XDAIII. I can get the number to appear in the LED but not the name...
Seems like all it might need is to tweak the bluetooth software to change the output to the display... any one out there that can take this on?

Scottyjchef (Scotty)...
I haven't received my unit yet. Expansys-USA.com is selling them for $809. Convergent Technologies is selling them for $799. ImpactWireless is selling them for $769. All claim to start shipping at the end of April, or first week of May.
I am going to place my order via Expansys since they seem to be the largest vendor. They're also the only one that will take a pre-order, and verify with you if you want the item when it arrives before charging your credit card. I am assuming I'll have a better chance of resolving any problems (if any arise) with them as well, but I might be entirely off-based on that assumption.
I'm still teetering on whether I should wait though... it's not always best to be the first kid on the block to have a new toy, and my iMATE (XDA II) is serving me fine... I just want caller ID on the headset, landscape, and WiFi. The 1.3MP camera is nice too, but from what I've seen/heard, it doesn't take fantastic pictures.

I have a QTEK 2020i and bought the Jabra 800, but no number and no name. so I am advising you my friend to search with me for a solution before buying it. Does any one know how?
Does it work at all?
Mohs...
Does your BT800 work at all with the 2020i? My BT800 does not answer calls with my original IMATE (running Pocket Bluetooth Tools 1.0.1.2). If I install Pocket Bluetooth Tools 1.1.0.0, it works, but there is a bug that prevents the IMATE from turning off, so it stays on all day (kills battery really quick!).
Is caller id the only problem you have with the 2020i and BT800?

I have tried the BT800, and Xlive. Xlive shows the name if it is in contacts but it is buggy.
http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=117123 may work and I am ordering the HBH662 as well. I will let you know.

BT800 needs Hands Free profile. BT tools uses it's own DLL (driver) for the headset. Only Headset profile. It will take up to 9 seconds to answer a call with the BT800 and Headset profile.
Need to use 2.20 translated or 2005 OS to get A WORKING Hands Free profile.

Did you pair it under Hands Free or Headset profile?
I do not think I have a handfree profile, how can you do that?

If you have the 2020i (xda2i, Alpine) then you do have a handsfree profile, as your xda runs the Broadcom stack.
I've tried an xda2i with Jabra BT800 also and caller id works for viewing the number reliably if that is all you need. But no name.
As far as I know there is NO b/t headset on the market with fully working caller id (ie shows the name from your contacts). Which is a real shame
Mine does not show any numbers? I am really fed up of trying
Imate claims PDA2 will support Jabra BT800 Caller ID Feature
For what it's worth, from a 1-on-1 session with iMATE Customer Support:
You're now talking to Buffon from 'Club Advisors' The topic is : Not Provided
Buffon> Welcome to Club i-mate. My name is Buffon and I am a Club Advisor. What can I help you with?
curious> can you advise if the pda2 will support the caller id function on the jabra bt800 headset/
curious> hello?
curious> are you still there?
Buffon> ya
curious> did you receive my question?
Buffon> yes
Buffon> sure
Buffon> im glad to help u
Buffon> yes it support it
Buffon> it is working fine with it
curious> The caller idis fully supported? I have seen problems with the PDA2K. My IMATE PPC does NOT support caller id. Before I purchase the PDA2, it is imperative that caller id is fully supported by the Jabra BT800.
Buffon> ya
Buffon> i insure u it is supported at he PDA2
Conflicting results
Now this is interesting... IMATE says "YES", absolutely sure the PDA2 will support caller id on the Jabra BT800.
Now this is what Jabra is saying:
"Kevin,
Thank you for contacting JABRA North America.
We are not familiar with the Qtek 2020i, but the BT800 does not
support
caller id with the 02 XDA IIi and the Imate PDA 2.

I have the BT800 and the HBH662 and the X-live 128 mp3 player-BT phone.
Caller ID works on all of them with the PDA2. X-live will display the NAME too on the 2.20 translated on the Himalaya but it times out.. The 2.20 uses the MS stack.
On my new PDA2, with the Broadcomm stack, only caller ID works on the xlive, no name. Good news is it does not time out. Works fine.
I like the xlive because it can make phone calls using the little joy stick and selecting numbers. It is great to check voice mail too because you can select numbers while in the phone call to delete or do other menu choices.

Proof that the Jabra BT800 works on the I-Mate PDA2
I have proof that the Jabra BT800 works on the new I-mate PDA2.. It can also work for the XDAIIi if you install the patch from the Extended ROM from the PDA2!
I-mate fixed it for the Alpine!
Will it work for Qtek 9090????

Parrot CK3100 and Universal

Im actually using a BT Car Handsfree kit Parrot CK3100 with my SE z800 mobile phone... but since I started using the Universal it doesnt work.
I read somewhere that WM5.0 doesnt support BT Stereo Audio until the AKU2 WM5 is released... do you know what may I do while? It is possible to make it runing even in mono or something like that?
I use the Qtek 9000 with a Ck3100 without any problem
(except for the fact that automatic phonebook sync is not supported)
I use mine with one, not too sure of the model but its the colour one that stores contacts, and it works amazing well.
Yes that configuration works for me as well. The only issue is that it will not automatically transfer the Contacts list to the Parrot. That isn't supported with the Universal. Actually I don't bother anyway as I have the Universal in a cradle and I dial directly from it.
Can you bond the Universal with the Parrot?
i have a ck3300 and it works wonderfuly i use http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=pi&dir=wm
to beam all the contacts over... works great. from reading the parrot forums when the update is released it will sync the contacts over but not in a address format
ie at the moment i have
Paul
mobile 077
home 015
bus 015
in the new version it will be
Paul mob 077
Paul home 015
Paul Bus 015
if that makes sense

Will WM5 fix BT voicedial w/ keylock?

Simple question... I'm intrigued with all the WM5 "upgrade" stuff but I really don't want to risk bricking the phone UNLESS i know WM5 can voicedial via a BT headset while keylock is *on*...
Has anyone who's done the upgrade confirm the behavior?
Thanks,
Actually, it disables it
I have a sony a Sony HBH-660 BT headset. the one with caller ID.
caller ID works but it doesnt show the names anymore; with the original ROM it would show the name.
So, no BT dialing at all.... or does it work for anyone else???
Still, upgrade is well, well worth it!
cheers,
it works perfect with hey lock, get a registry editpr, resco total cmd.
hklm/software/microsoft/voice command
change
Dword: respectKeyLock to 0 to use while phone locked and 1 not to
hmm I have no voice dial
wow! That was a fast reply...hehe.
I just checked my registry and well, found no voice dial entry at all. I guess my ROM version didnt have voice dial.
My device is an old ATT 5600, unlocked and upgraded to WM5 using roswens' package. An early version, 3.x I think.
Maybe voice dial comes with the latest versions? 4.0, 4.1... Or your phone is still on WM 2003?
later for now!
Hey cool!
Someone actually replied!
I guess I should've put in my hardware info: it's an audiovox SMT5600.
Justin, I checked the registry and couldn't find the voice command key. What phone do you have and did you upgrade to WM5?
Ooo.. I'm excited.. I can't wait to get over this stupid keylock issue...
Thanks,
I finally got my miniSD card and figured out the following:
0) I flashed my SMT5600 on Rogers to WM5
1) my SMT5600 does not have that voice command registry entry so the above hack doesn't work.
2) I tested with my bluetooth headset. and YES you can voicedial while the handset is keylocked!!!!!!!
w00t!!! I recommend everyone upgrade if they have the balls. WM5 is a bit slower, but the fact that all the PITA "features" that wm2k3 had are all corrected now.. I couldn't be happier.

Universal and Jabra bt800, help needed

Hi!
I've just ordered a bt800. I was wondering what i need to do to get the headset to display the name of the contact and not just the number. Can anyone tell me what to do? Do i have to install a particular rom which works, or is it a software update for the bt800, or is an app i'd have to run on my universal.....thanks!
thanks,
