Hi All, first post here trying desperately to find some information on the following problem.
My handset SPV M600 has the orange customisation and has been hard reset so it's back to factory specs. I can make and receive phone calls ok but I can't access the messaging services, send or receive text messages. Whenever I try I get the following error message
Phone
The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again.
Needless to say, I've waited a bit longer than that with no joy. I would really REALLY! appreciate any help or advice you could give. Orange have tried sending SIM updates - (my monitor flashes like it does when there's something receiving on your nearby handset) but they never appear in the inbox.
I'm willing to try anything, even a reflash to another stable ROM if someone can point me in the right direction for a howto and the files.
Sorry for the long post, here's hoping you can help!
Cheers
Dan
Same problem!
Hi Hitby,
Did you get this resolved? If so, what did you do?
I've just upgraded my Orange contract and got a new SIM from them. Everything was fine with my old SIM, this new one is OK for calls, but not texts. Same messae as you.
Orange aren't interested - not Orange phone etc.
Rather frustrated with them, needless to say!
Richard
i did mate, you need to get orange to switch the SIM card for a compatible one, Personally I thought they were all the same but apparently not. Mines a violet one with a small orange logo, can't remember what the other one was like (black?) but it looked different. I spoke to someone in the UK at length who maintained it was nothing to do with them then rang back and got put through to the indian call centre, she took my SIM card number and knew straight away from the digits that it wouldn't be compatible!
Thanks
Thanks for info! This is driving me nuts, to the point where I'm almost spending £200 for new phone.
My SIM is a black one with a dark red pattern.
Orange told me "it shouldn't matter what phone you put your SIM into; it should all work"
I'll try calling and ask for a compatible SIM card. Great job for my holidays.
I will post outcome
Richard
yeah, the guy i spoke to in the UK said that to me as well but there ARE different types. hope you get it sorted
Dan
Fixed....well kind of
No joy with Orange. They almost lost my business, and I had to go to two shops before it was "sorted".
I decided to upgrade to the SPV M3100 (£200 from Orange on my contract) and I'll sell the existing phone to a friend (if his SIM card works, of course)
Big companies versus one consumer....guess who won.
Thanks again,
Richard
Phone not ready error
I had the same problem. Orange are unwilling to acknowledge that they do have different SIM cards in the first instance. However, I called them and told them that I had spoken to HTC and that HTC had confirmed that there is a known issue with some Orange SIM cards and the Prophet (although I actually I hadn't). I also told them that I needed a purple and orange SIM card instead of a black and orange one. Two days later a new SIM was forwarded and my phone is fully functional - be persistent with Orange and you will get a result. I gather from the Technician who called me back that there are a series of numbers on the SIM card number which indicates which type of SIM it is. (From memory I think he said anything over 30 was a 3G SIM which is incompatible) but for sure Orange in Bristol are aware of the fault and know how to put it right. I spoke to several supervisors before I got a resut so be ready to be persistent. Oh and once sorted don't forget to complain about the service you have received - I got some free line rental out of it too.
Congratulations
Well done on getting yourself sorted with Orange. I'm a very patient guy but after getting different stories from Orange every time, the hours wasted got to me......
I like the M3100, pity it cost me about £150 after selling old phone - Orange won't be getting my business if there's any trouble in a year or two when my next upgrade is due!
Just so you know, i spoke to orange last week about this and they referred me to tech support, after a few days they came back with the sim is faulty and are sending me a compatible one!
BUT if you are having this problem with a contract sim, ring up orange customer services and ask for a new sim, just say the old one is faulty, they Should then send you a new one no questions asked! much quicker than waiting for tech to respond.
Or if you are on orange PAYG go into your nearest orange shop and they will give you a new sim there and then!
hope that helps someone

i fixed mine.
i had the save problem with my imatejamin in wm6 gullum official rom, the error always shows when sending sms,
what i did:
1.hard reset-(if not work),
2.re-install your rom,(no vendor wm5->wm6 rom)
then my prophet is back to normal,i think it has something to do w/ the apps that i install or the system files gets corrupted, etc,
im using the touch VIII wm6 rom right now.
i hope it would help.
Probably a silly question but I have the following problem:
I have 3 cards (Orange and 2 x T-Mobile). When I put either T-Mobile SIM in my phone, it requests a SIM network unlock PIN. I have the option of entering this in or clicking a dismiss button which will take me pass this screen but doesn't register onto the GSM network. This doesn't happen on my Orange SIM as this registers straight away onto the GSM network.
All 3 SIM cards do not request a PIN when I use them with two other phones that I have (HTC Hero and HTC TyTn 2).
On the SGS I have tried the pins 0000, 12345 and 1234 which are default PINs that I recall. I've checked the manual for the SGS and the literature that came with my T-Mobile SIM card and neither give any hints about a default PIN or about a SIM network unlock PIN.
I'm not sure if the PIN request is coming from the phone or the SIM card. I'm guessing it's coming from the phone but I don't know why it doesn't request this when I use my Orange SIM card.
I purchased the phone SIM free. The Orange SIM is a PAYG and the two T-Mobile SIMs are pay monthly contracts. I know all 3 SIMs work without PINs in my other phone.
Can anyone help? I'm assuming I'm missing something really simple but can't figure out what. I've already tried a dozen google searches with no luck. Please please help. I feel I'm being deprived of my 2 hour old SGS phone
I've now taken a video of the boot up sequence to show you what it looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D-RvvCK2bM
Can anyone confirm or refute whether this is happening on their SGS too? It seems like it's a Security Code on the handset but I can't find any setting for such a code.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Don't think your phone is actually SIM free... no issues here using any SIM I like (purchased from Unlocked Mobiles). Where did you get yours?

I purchases it from handtec. I don't think it is Sim free for the following reasons:
1. It was listed as Sim free
2. The box it came in also seems to indicate it is Sim free
3. There is no carrier logo on the phone or anything it came with
4. Seems to work with my Orange Sim card (which implies the phone came from orange if it was Sim free and this phone hasn't been released on Orange).
I'm guessing by the single thread reply that no one else has come into this issue before? And it's probably not just a simple default security code?
I don't know if this will help, but when I was asked for a sim code on a new Nokia phone, about two years ago, I rang Voda and asked for the pin code. In your case you would need to ask T Mobile.
I have the exact same issue with my Galaxy from Handtec which arrived today. I hope they aren't selling sim-locked phones as sim-free... Time to call Voda...
Ok, apparently it's a known issue. Just spoke to handtec, they say they got a batch of phones from Samsung which are locked to Orange. Call them for a replacement/refund. Don't mess about with the phone support line, it just points you to the website and disconnects you, call them and speak to sales. 01733 298500

Ah ok, that makes sense and which is why my Orange SIM card worked but not T-Mobile. I may have come to this conclusion if I had a Vodafone and O2 SIM knocking about.
Thanks for the info. Will be returning the phone for a replacement.

@n4nick: It appears as though you were right although the phone doesn't look like an Orange locked phone. Orange are notorious for plastering their big ugly logo on the physical phone and all over the software. They even put their logo on the box, accessories and manuals. This phone really looks like a SIM free version.
I wonder if the Orange locked batch were due to go to Orange for them to do their usual carrier differentiation before they then go out to customers.
Hi!, I've bought Samsung Galaxy S from handtec too and I get the same message: sim network unlock pin. I've just sent request to Handtec support.
What about you? Did you somehow unlock? Or did you change your phone?
Speak to Handtec about it and get a replacement or a refund as the item sent out is the wrong item. As mentioned previously, I believe the mistake was from Samsung as they sent a batch of Orange locked handsets as unlocked handsets which Handtec then sold accordingly. Handtec seem to be handling the whole mixup very well with good customer service so you should be ok.
Yeah I'm experiencing this issue as well. Phone worked fine for 7 days then today out of nowhere I get the SIM network unlock PIN alert upon startup. I contacted Handtec and this is all they had to say.
Thanks for your email,
Unfortunately this is an error with Samsung and we will require all of the items back, postage will be covered once back and confirmed it is an orange locked device but we will require this back to replace it for you.
Please advise,
Kind regards.

Legally they have to give you a full refund including the postage cost for both ways. Therefore you could purchase a new handset while you are in the process of getting a refund for the existing one. You'll know if it is an Orange locked phone because there was one or two Orange specific applications pre-installed on the phone.
If it was working before and not now then it's possible it could be a different issue though.
I work for t-mobile and samsung sent us some unbranded phones that were locked to orange by mistake. That chances are we wernt the only ones to receive them
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
had this problem myself on O2
went to store to use their phone to ring around (they were sorry)
after time on the line with O2 support they had no answers, so i rang samsung
samsung took literally seconds on the phone, i said about the 'sim network unlock pin' and he simply turned round and said its dead, a dead chipset thats in every phone they sent out in the last week, i was told this on friday 11th
samsung then spoke to the staff at the O2 store and advised them to mark all other galaxys they had as 'dead on arrival' and return them and for others to do the same
looks like a big batch issue so best thing u can do is send your dodgy one back like i have done, hopefully this replacement will work
I just got the Network Unlock PIN Message myself randomly after a reboot 7 days after purchase.
Has anyone tried using a TurboSIM to see if it works?
Sad thing is it was working one day and then broke the next.
Pretty bad that we have to pay postage to get their doa replaced. ( Specially considering that's about $50 for me. )
EDIT: Does anyone know what the STOCK firmware was when you got your handtec handset? ( From what I can tell it could be XXJF3. )
EDIT2: Success! After contacting Handtec they sent me a code to use, it seems to have permanently network unlocked my phone.
After a few emails with Handtec they were able to provide me with an unlock code after giving them my IMEI number. All is good again
I have a similar problem with T959 from TMobile USA. The phone was obviously locked to TMobile but I got the code from TMobile, entered it and phone was unlocked. My customer took home, used it for about a week and now the phone is network lock again and ask for network pin. So I enter the same code that was used to unlock it but now it DOES NOT work. So strange. But this happened before on other android phone and it worked, just re-enter the code. Anyone has a solution yet on this problem?
aaarrrggghhhh!
I have same problem but.... the unlock code Handtec sent me does not work
I have tried every method I can find on the internet to enter the unlock code (eg #0111*code#, #7465625*638*code# and even #7465625*638*# which pops up with a seperate box to enter the unlock code) and each time it fails. I've even done this after various full hardware resets.
Hantec have said the phone might be faulty with a software problem and to send it back to them.
I am in Cyprus and its going to cost me 50 euro to send it back. If I had paid an extra 50 euro on the Handtec price I could have bought it locally! Doh!

To enter the code you should put a SIM in, and start the phone, it will ask you straight away...
If you attempted to enter wrong codes too many times it will stop asking you and your phone is permanently locked until you return it to the manufacturer.
Oh noes, mine better not relock... :\
Just out of curiosity, how many 5's does your code have?
Hi all - I believe this is the right place to post so here goes. I had an 8525 which I successfully unlocked with HTC_Hermes_SIM_SID_Unlock_v3a and also applied Hard-SPL-V7 successfully.
For the last two months I had installed at least six different ROMs without any difficulty or problems.
Wanted to sell the phone on Ebay and move on to another phone so I "restored" the phone to almost stock with RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_.exe
Shipped the phone to buyer and got this email back.
"put my Movistar simcard in
int.roaming
with At&t, it asked me for an unlocking code and
like 3 minutes later
after that it turned off and doesn't turn on
again, even after 5 hours
of charging. What shoul I do with
it? thanks."
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Littlalex
From what the buyer is describing, the phone isn't unlocked. Have you tested out with anotehr carrier SIM card before shipping?
If you used the phone throughout your contract, i.e. until it's over, I think you can try to call AT&T customer service and say when you tried to use T-Mobile's SIM card, you accidentally entered the unlock code 3 times and now the phone won't turn on. Hopefully they can provide a working solution.
A few months ago I purchased two LG Optimus 7 E900 phones from Germany, on eBay. They were both Vodafone.de branded but that was easily removed after following easy-to-follow instructions on here.
I then signed up for two T-Mobile accounts for the phones and they have been working perfectly ever since. Sometime this week, both phones are showing a 'SIM error' and give the following message: The SIM card is missing or invalid. You can still make emergency calls if your mobile operator supports this.'
I have taken both SIM cards out and swapped them with other T-Mobile SIMS and I am getting the same message, although the SIMS from the phones work fine when popped into other phones! This morning, I phoned LG and they said that I should phone Vodafone and ask if they have locked the phones! As they were Vodafone.de (Germany) branded, I am not sure if they will have a clue or not.
Maybe I should go out and buy a Vodafone UK SIM and see if it works? But I assumed that if the phone was network-locked, it would ask for an unlock code?
Any ideas?
Mattresso
I just phoned LG and spoke to one of their support techs. He said that because they were bought from Germany and were Vodafone.de branded, there is nothing they can do. He advised me to send them back to Germany!! I told him that I was going to chuck them in the bin and he agreed. So much for customer service, eh??
Right, work this one out!
I decided to reflash the FW on the phone and get the thing working again. The LG Optimus 7 E900 original ROMS thread was followed to the letter and I successfully installed the Europe Open FW.
So, on completion, I slipped in the T-Mobile SIM card, only to be met with the SIM error message again!!!
Right, I am off to try the UK ROM and see if that works. If it doesn't I am off out to buy two iPhones!
Any ideas?
OK, now my head really hurts!
One of the phones has done a full reset and has the UK ROM installed and it works fine with the T-Mobile SIM installed. The only problem is that now it will not connect to any PC or Mac that I have.
The second phone has been reset and flashed with the same UK ROM. Unfortunately, this phone still shows the SIM error but it can connect to my PC and Mac!!!
Now, I have little/no knowledge of these matters but it seems to me that the problem/solution lies with the USB settings within the phone?
As part of the above instructions, it is suggested in post #78 that I should:
6. Go to Menu then 7.Engineering 3.Port 1.USB Switching Setting then select 2.QC Composite, change the driver for the USB, reboot the phone
Anyway, I followed this method (not sure if done on both phones) but I am not sure if anything needs reverting on completion of the flash.
Does anyone know?
It has to stay QC Composite!!
Going to try the SIM error phone again using the same FW and QC Composite selected!
Success at last!! Not sure why the hell it went tits-up to start with but I assume it must have been a wireless update from Vodafone.de?
Anyway, both phones working. Thanks for the help!!
I'm not sure we helped, but I've been intersetd in your story. Haven't had your issue myself, but I know a few others have.
So was flashing both phones what solved it?
Ensuring composite QC is selected, the SIM is removed and that the correct ROM is used are the three rules, it seems.
I'm convinced that it was a wireless update from a different carrier is what caused the problem. Anyway, it's sorted now, thankfully!
If you need any help, give me a shout and I will try my limited best.
Not really related to this post that I started but is it possible to connect my iPad to the phone (tether?) and connect to the web via mobile internet??

Of course you can - just update your Optimus 7 to the latest WP version via Zune, and enable Internet Sharing from the settings. This will make a WiFi network with a password for your iPad to connect to. Browse away
I had a problem like this too. Last night I plugged my phone into my PC to sync music through zune and was prompted to install an update. Installed the update and my phone works!
Running OS version: 7.10.7740.16 and finally have service!
same issue
I'm having the same issue. Phone is stuck at PUK code even though sim works in other phone. It is a UK Vodafone phone.
Can you give step by step guide of how you got yours to work?
Hmmm. Again, I am flummoxed!
My daughters' phones are both showing the SIM error message once again.
After previously flashing the phones with the UK open FW, the phones worked perfectly, until today! We all spent Christmas and New Year in Orlando and took the phones in the hope that a US sim would work in them. The sim didn't work in either phone and I resorted to buying a $20 Nokia! Worked fine too.
Anyway, on return to the UK today, the phones were powered up with the UK sims fitted but both phones are showing SIM error - No SIM.
I really am very, very close to throwing these phones in the trash! Anyone have any ideas why this has happened and will I need to re-flash them (again) in order to get them working??
I had this a short while after I was upgraded through Zune. I sent it into Vodafone and they fixed it, but it'll probably have to be the place you bought it from...

I bought the two of them from Germany via Ebay! They were both Vodafone.de branded but not locked but I re-flashed them with an open, UK firmware. Everything has been fine since the re-flashing, until now!
I have been in touch will LG and they said they will pick them up and repair if:
They are still in warranty
They have not been damaged due to dropping, etc.
They were purchased in the UK
All boxes are ticked apart from where they were bought. Surely a warranty must be valid anywhere within the EU?? Anyway, i am going to play dumb with LG and hope that they will reflash them....if not, I am definitely launching them into the sea! Damn fed up with them now and too much information on them has been lost too many times.
Almost certain mine wasn't within warrenty, they still did it for free. Mine happened very close to an update so I thought perhaps the update caused it. In that case they might say things along the lines of "you must meet certain conditions", but at the end of the day they'll quietly repair it free of charge. We'll see.

I sent both phones and received them both today with a letter titled, 'We've checked your handset and cannot find a fault'.
OK, so I immediately popped in my T-Mobile SIM and got the SIM Error message once again!!!
I'll phone them in the morning. If I get no joy, it's new phone time!
Sim error
I'm having the same problem after upgrading to 7.10.8107.79, try so many ways and still stuck with error. Can anyone help me, maybe telling me how to change FW, Rom Etc.
Here's what I have
OS Version: 7.10.8107.79
FW: 1.1.8.10
Hardware #: 1.0.0.0
Radio Software: 1.1.8.10
Radio Hardware: 0.3.5.0
Bootloader: 1.5.1.0
Thank you in advance
Update:
Problem detected, I just realized the connector pins on sim slot, one is broken not allowing full contact with the sIM card.
Hi, mattresso!
Thanks a lot for sharing the exprience which help me solve the "SIM error"!
I got my E900 from Hongkong last year, and the "SIM error" issued a few days ago. At first I tried to reflash the FW with Hongkong ROM, but it did not work. Then I found your thread and followed your way to install UK ROMs from Orange and Vodafone. Both of them make my E900 work well again.
Sorry for my poor English and thank you again.
I bought a Google Pixel 4 from Mint mobile on April 13th and got it April 17th. When I first received the phone and put the sim card in, it gave me a prompt saying that the device was sim locked to Verizon. After messaging Mint telling them that they sent me a sim locked phone and that I needed a prepaid shipping label to send it back and get a replacement, they have yet to send me one, and to this day I still haven't received one.
I contacted Verizon and they told me that on their end the phone isn't sim locked, and that they cant do anything else because I need access to the business account it was tied to before, which clearly I don't have access to.
I contacted Google tech support as a last resort to see if they could help me, but they didn't really do anything other than send me an email to show to Verizon, but I just got off the phone with Verizon and they told me they cant do anything with that.
I tried going onto Mint Mobiles website to request a refund, but the phone isnt even selectable on the options for the refund.
I thought maybe they put the wrong OS on the phone after resetting it, and maybe that I could flash it and put another one on their, but the phones boot loader is locked and I can't toggle OEM unlocking in the settings.
What should I do?
It is a PAIN in USA to sim unlock from major carriers , if you are not original owner with an active plan.
(ATT, Verison, others)
I would b1tch like you mean it to Verison .
Straight up tell them , if the phone was paid off by original owner and and is not stollen,
why will they not unlock it?
( do they want you to get an account, and then wait another 5 months to unlock ???)
I bough Canadian phones before without previous owner sim unlocking them.
Just called the company, and they unlock within a few minutes ( always polite too
