Fizz Traveler is an electronic travel guide with maps and "things to see"
Newsbreak is an RSS reader.

I didn't install it yet, but the Fizz Traveller installer indicates it's 2.2 - while the one Fizz is currently selling is 2.3. I can't find the list iof bug fixes to judge if "free" is worth it for old software.
Edit: I installed it. It is 2.2. I wrote down the registration code and installed 2.3. The code didn't work. Their web site doesn't really describe what's fixed between 2.2 and 2.3 so it's hard to say if this is a good deal or not.

OK Since no one really wanted to say what the hell Fizz Traveler is. I cound a link for everyone on line.

The correct URL is http://www.windowsmobile.com/cingular - this was posted in the first post but the URL mistakenly had a period. The URL actually redirects you to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/5/cingular/offer.mspx and you have to enter your IEMI number to download. Once you do, you can get v2.2. I don't know what they do with the IEMI number but I read on Fizz's web site someone was having trouble accessing the software and their IEMI wasn't accepted, so perhaps there's a backend lookup to Cingular. They may have even gone so far as to repackage the .zip with unique registration codes based on eligibility to download, but since I'm not a programmer, I don't know how hard that would be.
Anyway, from Fizz's web site, you can download v2.3. If you install 2.2, verify your version is registered from within the program. Soft reset, uninstall 2.2, soft reset, and install 2.3. The registration is retained even though you manually uninstalled 2.2. I contacted Fizz and they verified this is legal. One further note, make sure you download the ppc version of 2.3 and not the sp version. The sp version will install but may not work properly.

Interestingly this took me to a Windows Mobile promotional page which then redirected me to my "profile" within windows mobile web site (it already existed because of previous phones and PDAs). I updated my information and submitted, THEN it asked me for the IMEI number. FWIW, the site responded VERY slowly to requests. Also note that the IMEI number from my brand new 8525 did NOT work...

Sorry but warez are not tolerated in this forum. Your choices are either from the makers of the software or googling with keywords such as gps tomtom and underground perhaps

Actually downloading the software or obtainng it from any source other than the original retailer or other distributor is not seen as warez or would be considered illegal (at least as far as tomtom is concerned, not sure about route66).
It's the other content such as maps and voices etc. that needs to be paid for and activated. These are the things you don't want to be discussing here...
As for where to get the software from, I'm not going to divulge, just incase it turns out I'm wrong! But google is your friend.

The TomTom _application_ is free to post or distribute, as long as it's unmodified. You can download a free sample map with it, but the real maps is what will cost you money.
Posting cracked versions and/or maps is 'illegal' and not allowed on this forum. The CAB's and installers are free (hell the 2nd link I posted is directly from TomTom.com).

Over the last month I have been having a bit of a battle with the makers of CoPilot 8, ALK, with regards to my license which I purchased in early 2010.
Like many of you here, I'm a bit of a compulsive phone updater, be it new windows builds, android or this new android NAND stuff.
Anyway, every time I flashed a ROM, I'd have to reactivate Co-Pilot over the internet. No problem. However, one day, it stopped working, saying that my code was invalid!! Much to my horror, I sent ALK an e-mail asking what had happened. Here was my response.

Well, I didn't realise I could only activate so many times before the product was no longer mine. So I did some fishing through my T&C's for CoPilot 8 and there is no actual figure to indicate what "the maximum permitted activation limit for a product" is.
So I replied with an e-mail to that effect, saying that there is nothing in black and white for me to have known this. A month later they finally got back to me and said that I can now reactivate my code.
Now - I can understand what's happened. From their server's point of view, lots of people could be using my code on a large number of devices. So how do you get around this?
Well, every time you go to flash a new ROM, **MAKE SURE YOU DEACTIVATE YOUR LICENSE FIRST**!!
In settings (assuming you have show all settings selected), you will see a license button. Select your map in the list of things and press deactivate.
If you do this then you will be okay. But I suspect ALK will be updating their T&C to prevent this from occurring again.
Anyway, I hope that saves some of you from some potential trouble in the future.

why dont you backup & restore using titanium?

as far as im aware the activation code is linked to your phones IMEI, so it doesnt matter how many times you change your build, (with the same os) if restoring from backup

this is common practice with drm'd software.
the solution is just not to use it.

In The windows ver .. there is a file called : licp8.dat
That keeps your lic Info ...
Wonder if there is one for thr Android ???
then it will not matter

Requirements:
- A *LEGAL* copy of CoPilot 8 for Windows Mobile and the license key

I bought it about 8 months ago for my HD2, for Windows Mobile 6.5. Great piece of software. I contacted ALK to ask if I could transfer between OS's and they said no, it wouldn't work! It also clearly states on their web site that transfers don't work:

So being stubborn, I thought I'd take my own license from WinMo and deactivate it, stick it into Android and needless to say - it works and I have a fully legal copy of CoPilot 8 running on my Android Froyo device. Those cheeky beggers at ALK!!!
So how to get it working:
•Make sure you still have CoPilot installed under Windows Mobile and activated;
•Launch CoPilot. Go to the Menu|Settings|Licensing (NOTE: If you can't see this, find "More Settings" and select that first to show Licensing);
•Select your Map Region from the list (Mine was UK and Ireland), then press "Deactivate";
•CoPilot will now shut down;
•Boot into Android and using an installer, install the APK file which is in the requirements section at the top of the page or here;
•Open CoPilot from the Menu and it will ask for your license info. Enter this as you did when you first bought CoPilot (usually a username and password);
•Bada Bing. That should be it, all working!
Just to clarify one further time, this is only for legally purchased licenses. No questions about dodgy software please. Thank you.

You can download ISO images for WIndows distributions direct from Microsoft. As for activation, you will have to purchase a license.

Hello, I have some licence keys from broken devices I doesn't need.
They are original Microsoft Licences, no cracks, not generated with a keygen or found somewhere in the WWW.

If your license key is stored in your BIOS, can you find it out with "Showkeyplus" (portable Software that can run without installation from an USB Stick)
Drivers for your device you can get at the manufacturers support homepage or you look what hardware components are builded-in and get the newest drivers on their support homepage (from Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Realtek, Broadcom, usw. sometimes they are hard to find. That's the way I install drivers).
DO NOT USE DRIVERS OFFERED FROM OTHER HOMEPAGES! They could be contain malware!
Use "Hardware Info 7.35" to see with hardware is build-in in your device. Don't forget to adjust the program settings using it the first time.
It's also a portable Programm that doesn't need to be installed and can run from an USB Stick.
