I own an spv M3000 from Orange France and having trouble when I try to uninstall the application designed for WM5.
Trying to uninstall: "Unable to remove the software, do you want to remove it from the list ?" (or something like that).
Answering Yes, the software disapear from the list but the application files are not deleted on the SPV.
Do you have an idea why and how to bypass this strange thing ?
Thansk in advance.
Yes I have the same issue and still haven't find a solution...
I read that someone have bypassed this problem. He didn't accept to remove the program from the list, power off his device and uninstall again the software : it seems to work for him...
Try it maybe it could work for you :?:
Here is the thread I was talking about : http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=780277
Try SK Tools, I was testing it with author for WM5 and it seems now better.
Removed everything what missed before.

Could someone please help?
I have an XDA Exec (HTC UNIVERSAL) Ive been searching for days to a solution for this without avail and you guys seem to know what your talking about! Im very new to this and need a solution to this error when i try to install some applications and run them:
" X cannot be opened. Either it is not
signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be
found "
Is there any way you can disable this in WM5? my WM5 version is OS 5.1.1700 (Build 14354.0.1.1)
Or is there any way whatsoever you can get around this? please if anyone can help do let me know and post!!
Thankyou !!
Is your phone locked ?
It may be locked or your operator prevent installing all of 3d party applications. In this case reinstalling "clean" WM5 may help (I'm not sure though) - I'm only a newbie in WM5.
Another reason that application you run trying access trusted functions - like allocation of the physical memory. In this case I'm not sure what can be done - reinstallation of WM5 will not help.
Its unlocked! so if i re-install wm5 it wont say this when i install programs? i have tried resetting the phone and installing different roms but nothing works! is there any particular rom i should be looking to install? or anything i can put in the extended rom to install after a hard reset to sort this out? PLZ HELP!
I have had that problem, too and I was going crazy. Then I tried the following tweak but I do not really know why it should work, it just did:
in HKLM\System\ObjectStore is a reg key "RegistryType=1", which means Hive based registry.
When you set it to "RegistryType=0", which means FILE based registry, all changes you do in the registry will stay there also if you reboot with device's reset button...
BUT AFTER YOU CHANGE THIS VALUE, FIRST REBOOT HAS TO BE DONE WITH SOME SOFTWARE, NOT WITH THE RESET BUTTON.
Subsequent reboots can be done with reset button then.
there is another tweak that gets rid of the warning messages, but I did not use that one
really! which software could i use to reboot the phone??
also is resco registry okay to view and change this? it says registry type 0x0 (1) i have now changed it to 0x0 (0) is this correct? i performed a soft reset but im stil getting the error message! is this because i need to use software to reboot?
yep, the first soft reboot needs to be done with software. After that you can use the usual way again.
After I had done this I removed all "problem apps" and then reinstalled them and it worked.
What software did you use or could i use to reboot my ppc chuckchuck?
Hello
Yesterday i tried to remove a program on my Qtek9000. But in the add/remove program, where
all installed programs are listed, was nothing! It was empty!
Then I tried to connect to the Computer but without success! An error Message appeared, "Can't
synchronize, please reconnect an try again!"
I can't even install a new program!
Please help me!
Geko
Turn OFF your firewalls then connect your Universal via USB again.
hmm, Doesn't work.
Any other ideas?
I am having similar problems. I have a list of installed programs in the uninstall list. However, whenever I install new softwares, they are not shown in the uninstall list, thus I cannot uninstall any new softwares. Anyone knows what happens?

...your not using phoneAlarm are you?
This is a documented issue with a previous version and is fixed in the latest release.
Matt
Yes PhoneAlarm is an issue and does prevent installed programs to show up in the list of installed programs. If you cannot live without PhoneAlarm (Like Myself) then you have two options:
You can install SKTools. The uninstallation utility in SKTools will still show the list of installed programs even if it is not shown in the generic Windows utility.
The other option involves changing the registry. You will need a registry editor like Resco. The procedure is as follows:
1) go to..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\
2) Select the application directory that is not showing up in the list
3) change the DWORD Role data from 40 to 24
4) Now the application will show up in the list.
Hope this works for you

srmz you are great !!!! It works and I can uninstall programs now.
I have never installed PhoneAlarm, and I forget starting from when this problem appears.
Also thanks matt1971 for rasing the possible reason leading to the problem. You guys are great !!
I now have the same problem - I can't install programs (get a message saying installation was unsuccseful), and when I try to remove programs there are none at all in the list.
All I've done today is install sbp Weather.
All programs work fine, but I also can't change Today Theme - it seems to be stuck on default.
Anyone able to help?
Cheers
Rowan
yes I have the exact same issue...this post is about not being able to sync, install, or uninstall anything....while srmz's post was informational, it didn't help those of us who has this problem...
please can anyone help? I really don't want to have to hard-reset my phone
Thanks
Anthony

Hi there!
Just got my brand new Prophet (Qtek S200) and I already have a problem.
Everytime I try to uninstall any installed application there's a message stating that the application wasn't completely removed.
As it happens I always have to delete by hand all the registry entrys as well as the folders that were created during the instalation of said program (it happens with almost all!).
I've tried SK tools with no luck.
Anyone help!?
TIA
BTW: There's no problem with the SD card and this also happens when I try to Re-install or upgrade an application.
Hallo my Friend,
I have the same problem with my I-mate Jamin. This seems to be a kwown bug in some WM5 ROMs, like the Italian one installed on my device.
After a few e-mails the I-mate support team had to acknowledge that: the are selling a device with a faulty operating system.
The issue seems to have been fixed in the latest versions of WM5 (those based on the so-called AKU2), but alas, no Italian ROM is available for those versions.
I hope the situation is more rosy for Portuguese ROMs. No need to say that the behaviour of the I-mate support team was utterly deceptive to me.
Good luck! Andrea

Thanks for the heads up Elio, I've already replied on the other post.
I'll try to look around some more
...
This has hapened to me also with my Qtek S200 WWE.
But if I soft reset my device and once it boot's up (after quite some time  ) I unistall whatever I need to uninstall, then it works just fine.
I have also noticed that by using "Freeup Ram" (part of SKTools) then I'm able to unistall without problems.
Best regards,
Rayan
Just got a Vario II yesterday.
Whenever I try to install any software (by tapping on .CAB files which I have copied to the device), I get "This software is from an unknown publisher ... Do you want to continue?" I answer "Yes", but immediately get "Installation of <software> was unsuccessful."
It's all software (Batti, PocketBreeze, DockWare, RegEdit, etc) which works fine on my XDA Exec (HTC Universal).
Any ideas?

This won't help you much but pocket breeze for example definately does go onto hermes. Sleuth has a patch that can tweak registry to remove the Unknown Publisher warning (might only work on cingular network - not sure). Doubt anyway that that would solve problem.
At least your thread is temporarily at least back to the top!
Mike
philip, search for application unlocking, i guess this is the problem you're having. Can you tell your rom version?

Thanks for the suggestions - I read the thread about Application Unlocking, but it seemed an unnecessarily complex procedure to have to go through (I'm used to WM5, and have had a XDA2, XDA IIi and XDA Exec, so I'm fairly well experienced in loading software to HTC devices).
My ROM version is 1.21.110.3 dated 06/19/06.
For what it's worth, doing a Hard Reset seems to have solved the problem and I can now install software. Hmmm.
Now I'm off to do another Hard Reset followed by an immediate Soft Reset to get rid of the T-Mobile stuff.
