OK I have the tmo PPC its already got 2003 on it and I know the loader is 5.15, other info that might be needed.
ROM 4.01.16 ENG
Radio 6.25.02
OK I want to get my own cooked ROM onto this, I know I know use the SD card method, well I don't have one and after getting this thing can't get one for a while either. I have the cradle that it comes with and have put software into etc, I have tried some unlock ROM software to find it didn't work etc etc. after cooking ROM and running it it tells me in a DOS window:
Error getconntiontype - An Existing connecitonwas forcibly closed by the remote host.
error getting connectiontype
so basicly I need to find a way to get this into my PPC via activesync or something. sorry for bad post a little tired but I think people will understand and be able to help me or tell me I need SD card and wait until I get one.
I think you can use xdatools to flash the rom direct from xda memory, choose the nbf file as source then choose the xda device memory as destination from the drop down box in destination section.
OK tried that but can't access the PPC with xdatools so that won't work. thats for trying though.
TMO ROMs are known to resist exe flashing ... use the SD method and you are lucky to have the boo loader 5.15
Well glad to know that my boot loader is a good one, now to find a SD card I can borrow to do this with, should I use a 32 or 64 or does it really matter as long as it holds the file.
64 megabytes is needed really, I have had a problem with 32 meg, it looks like it is programmed but when i flash it there is always a problem.
macgyver33 talked about having a 2003 version. Can anyone tell me where to get it? I mean european one (900-1800 MHz). Or at least the PDA part of it? And yet haven't found quiet an exact explanation of "SD method" - any suggestions? Thanx a lot!
Bootloader v.5.17 locked
BL v.5.17 + TMO ROM. I am not able to downgrade the bootloader or change ROM.
I've tried using:
Cooked ROM.EXE - No way
(Error: GetConnectionType - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. Error getting connectiontype)
XDA OS Image Tool - No way
(Error: Same as above)
ITSTools - pnewbootloader - No way
(Error: Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect)
SD Method - No way
In bootloader mode (soft-reset while pressing on/off button), I have no options: Even with an SD card with OS image inside, there's no way to start ROM download as there is no option to choose...
Any idea?
Thx
Check this thread
Thanks Biso007.
No way. My XDA doesn't load the bootloader in a proper way:
1. Inserted th SD card in his slot
2. Answered "No" to format the card
3. Soft-reset while pressing on/off button (so to enter in bootloader mode)
4. Display turns off
5. No Wallaby Bootloader screen, so no action to take...
6. Wait... Nothing.
7. I've also tried to press the "Action" button so to start the SD downloading... Nothing
8. Wait... Nothing.
6. It needs another soft-reset to exit this state (a not working bootloader mode, I suppose)
7. It turns on "normally".
Any further idea? :-(
Thanks
if I'm not wrong, I couldn't see that you ran the 5.17 patch first ... without it your device will never detect the SD file ... chech the thread again
I have a cid and sim unlocked T-mobile mda running Wm5. Problem is now when I boot up the device it hangs @ the T-mobile boot screen. I have

Any help plz guys
EDIT... FIXED THE PROBLEM Found this in and it worked...
Ok here´s how I done it.
First, I must explain what was the problem.
After update the firmware (not actually upgrade, I had the phone full of trash, so I decided to reflash same firmware v2.18 PTG), the Qtek 9100 / HTC Wizard freezed at 2nd splash screen (the one that shows OS versions IPL version, ect). Tried many different versions, upgraded to 2.24, 2.25, downgraded even to 1.6.7.3, but always same problem, freezed on second splash screen. I read many topics on xda-dev, and seen some people with same problem. Apparently there was 2 solutions. 1- send phone back to warranty. 2- write backup ROM from SD in bootloader.
Passed more then 15 hours asking for this SD backup everywhere, and COULDN´T find any help. Apparently no one had this "SD dump ROM Backup".
So here´s how I solved my problem
1- I tought that a SD backup was needed, and yes it is. But u can use your own phone and your own SD to do it.
2- Get a clean SD card (in qtek 9100 / Htc Wizard case is MiniSD) with 128MB (some people say 64MB, but I personally used a 128MB, maybe a 64MB is enough)
3- Kill (task manager) wescomm.exe (this is related with activesync installed on your PC). Insert the blank SD card on the phone.
4- Get your phone in bootloader mode. Like this : Phone powered off, press Camera button + Power On, will enter in bootloader mode (RGB screen).
5- Now connect your USB cable to your phone. And start MTTY_updateROM.exe (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/romupdate.rar). After open, on Port selection, choose \\.\WCEUSBSH001 and press OK. A window will open with a blank sheet.
6- Type "r2sd all" and hit enter... wait to the end (at end shows "cmd>"). On your phone screen u can follow backup progress... small bar will appear down the RGB screen.
7- Power off the phone (or remove battery), enter bootloader mode (camera button + power on) and this time RGB won´t appear right away. Will ask if u want to "download SD image", press voice dial button to agree, and writting will begin. Wait to the end. Power off and power on normally. Now your phone should be working ok. Not even needed to reflash the phone after this.
Thanks to all and hope this helps more people with this problem
5- Now connect your USB cable to your phone. And start MTTY_updateROM.exe (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/romupdate.rar). After open, on Port selection, choose \\.\WCEUSBSH001 and press OK. A window will open with a blank sheet.
The only Port Selections available are:
COM1
COM2
COM3
COM4
COM5
What am I doing wrong?
i got the same problem too
only com1 and com2 r there
pleace help me
Yes please someone help!
I want to try this, too, but my mtty tool only shows some com-ports and not WCEUSBSH001 ! what's wrong?
Does this work with mini sd cards bigger than 128 mb, too? is there a limit?
ok, I have the right port in mtty tool now, but...
when I enter "r2sd all" and press enter it says this:
r2sd all
***** user area size = 0x77F00000 Bytes
R2SDBackup() - Download type = 5
usTotalBlock = 1 sizeof(SDCARD_SIGNATRUE_TABLE)=512
You didn't get the proper security level to download a specific image
Cmd>
what can I do?
any help is greatly appreciated!
Hello,
please, if somebody has more information about bootloader commands supported by HP iPAQ hw6900 series (HTC Sable) to share on this thread with us
Will be very helpful if we can extract ROM image through the bootloader of this iPAQ
I dont know much, i know nothing indeeed, however i found somewhere a pack of files for the Wizard that were supposed to work for the sable, however they didnt, but there is this particular file, that when ran in the sable made appear a folder called "2" with an icon of a storage card and which rpely the contents of the root of the device (but for itself i mean no 2 folder inside the 2 folder lol)
I dont know if it is of some use but i definitevely want to perform a corporate install of windows in my sable and kill all that HP crap that comes in bundled
How to enter bootloader
Just press ACTION+POWER+reset with stylus and hold this combinaison for a few seconds, you'll see a screen without backlight (so you must be under bright light to see it) going into bootloader mode.
Put your device on the cradle (which I suspect you had connected it to your PC)
using mtty, connect to your USB Port (or Serial port if serial cradle)
type "password BOOTLOADER" and use "h" as an help command.
Now you can dump a ROM from Bootloader
The command should be sth like "r2sd"
Read the manual of this command "h r2sd full" and use it to dump your ROM on the SDCard
Now you can dump the raw ROM image from SD Card Reader using ntrw.exe
EDIT: going to bootloader mode seem to hard reset your device, backup FIRST!
HI Boris,
where to find the manual ETC.
A RAW ROM maens a bin file? how to convert then to something readable modifiable.... i understand that this is the main issue now.
I want to see a computer file which isn't binary based....
or a full text ROM
In fact, for me a raw ROM is a ROM-file which has been extracted from the device... The difference with a ROM-to-install is the encryption which is not present with raw dumps (to be checked).
Raw dumps can be modified and then re-updated but it needs some operations that are command-line based...
Once you got your raw ROM on SD, copy it to PC using ntrw, you have to find the correct tool to dump the content (dumprom should do the work)
Remember to keep the raw ROM as a backup, and work with a copy of the raw ROM.
You can also cut/paste the file into parts (OS, EXTROM...).
Logically, if you got the original ROM file (the german one) and the same taken from the device (raw ROM), we should be able to modify some existing tools to work with 69xx ROM files and cook some ROMs.
in bootloader mode: type
"h COMMANDNAME full" should show full manual of COMMANDNAME.
To have more informations, once you know if your bootloader has d2s or r2sd ... command name, search for it on wiki and you should have more informations and examples on the specific command.
I need to extract the ROM from one of these as well. I am getting into bootloader and trying to dump the rom to 256MB SD as follows...
USB>
USB>
USB>password BOOTLOADER
HTCSPass.<YHTCEUSB>d2s
SD:Waiting for card insert.........
CMD3 for SD, it's OK, ready to get RCA from response.
SDetected one card
SD:ready for transfer OK
d.total_lba=7A000
d.block_size=200
d.RCA=B368
d.drv_type=40000000
d.busWidth=1
Total card size=F400000
SDCARDD2S+,cStoragePlatformType=FF
Then the device just sits there with Cal Checksum on the screen. I get no response from NTTY or device until I restart.
I read on another thread that it might be locked. I also read that there may be a password to get into another level of access. See http://mobilitytoday.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15217 for details.
I have to get this cracked as I want to restore my good any network ROM onto a network specific device.
Anyone got any other ideas?

The checksum calculation is a long process, try to wait longer...
Anyway your SD should have been written... have you tried to read it?
EDIT: Does it show ******** or direct checksum calculation? (how long is the process)
I let it run for over an hour the first time but that was with a 1GB SD card and I understand that it would take longer with 1GB.
I haven't actually looked to see if there is anything on the card(s) as I just assumed it hadn't worked. Other threads say that the device gives you progress or at least some response from the MTTY to say it was done.
I have to shoot to a meeting but will try again when I get back...

yes, nice but does not work in 69xx's bootloader. while executing d2s command the device loops on "Calculating checksum" point and nothing happens even after an hour of waiting .. :-(
That is the same problem I am having. I read on another thread that dmc874 (who seems to know what he is talking about) thought it was related to the device being locked. See http://mobilitytoday.com/forum/showthread.php?p=68783
I am now trying to research the locking to see if there is anything I can do to unlock it... anyone else got any ideas?

The size of the uncompressed ROM is around 1gig because I only have 1gig sd cards to dump the ROM on.
You will probably need a 1gig or larger SD card, dim92 tried writing to a smaller card and the IPAQ doesn’t recognize it but you are welcome to give it a try on smaller cards as most of the image are 0s anyway.
Once you have written the image on to an sd card (use any of the bigrom guides using ntrw), pop it into the IPAQ and enter boot loader mode (power + joystick + reset). It should show up with “Download Sections: 1 press power to start".
Press power button and it should show “Updating radio". Let it finish and if it completed with no errors, power up to see if the mobile phone works. If it still does not work, try running the beetles radio patch now. If this too does not work, try running the LATEST rom from HP.

Hi buddy,thanks for your attachment.
But I gotta tell ya this doesn't work in hp6915,coz all the ROM in the internet do not have ExtRom.nbf,so nobody's device had flashed the Extended Rom in device...then the Unlock tool will not work in this.
Anyway,thank you

Mine dims the scren when I do the reset but then comes back on - still at the SERIAL and v1.01 - I tried taking battery etc out but still nothing - any more help most appreciated
If I let the battery run down then charge, the XDA comes back on to windows, goes thru all the calibrations, but then after a while - goes back to the boot screen
any help most appreciated
i'm sorry before, but...
very interesting this guide,
mine is HIMALAYA (O2-xda-II), and got same problem --> Stuck in BootLoader
unfortunatelly my xda-II can't connect to PC. when connected to PC detected as Unknown-Device.
maybe like This Methode can be applicable to my xda-II
but with firmware /ROM that have compatibility to my xda-II offcourse,,
i'll said thanks if some one can give me any suggestion
you could just try pluggin the phone back into the cradle and connect it to usb, then just run the update program again, its normal for the update to fail the frist time or even twice. this happened to my phone. the first update fails and its stuck in boot loader, ignore the "cannot id device" that windows puts up.
also remember not to update on a pc running VISTA it wont work 100%, only, i repeat ONLY update on xp

PH 10D Alpine stuck in Simlock...HELP
HI mate, Please help me with this:
I have Alpine PH10D from Orange Uk
After I tried for weeks to buy the unlocking (sim) code from orange ,then I started trying all the software to unlock it. My laptop runs Vista ,so this could be the reason why, lots of programs from internet won,t work,xdadev,htcallunlock,xdasimlock,xdaunlock,htcmultiunlocker,lokiwiz,copier,etc...
so u can see I tried for weeks, and weeks
Finally, one of these got my HTC locked in Simlock mode ,I mean I kinda can restart, bootloader, reset etc ,and imediately after starting to boot-install,i get a screen saying,"Simlock, network locked, please enter network code"
In the background all the phone is normal but as soon as you try tapping"Start" or anything else, after 1 second that pop comes again ,again,again,again,again.....
The Interesting is The active sync (the active sync in vista is called"Windows mobile device manager" can connect to the phone...Obviousely U know u cannot delete those stupid files from the extended Rom ,they are REad Only, When u Right click on it, all what vista can get is, Run ,Run as Administrator,Properties"....no chance to delete or rename....them cab.
Again ,interesting, In bootloader, active sync cannot detect the phone ,but the phone does display "Serial V1.01" and then when u plug USB in laptop it says "USB"
Then press SOFTRESET again ,wait 10 sec..,ding...and STOP at that moment before it starts installing...! plug the USB into laptop ...active sync IS DETECTING it, The ROM is in a file called "Extended ROM"....OK .Is there a way to find the Simlock, file or cab, and delete it? the files are protected, cannot touch them,
If I cannot do anything ,I will try the old fashion...: stick it into the freezer a good 2-3 days.......ain't it funny?.... in fact the phone is now a vegetable, isn't it?
[email protected] for any further details ,pls mail

Archive stored at:

What you need:
A charged up HTC Alpine thats stuck in the SERIAL v1.01 screen
A 512Mb SD Memory Card, can't see this working with any other size.
A USB card reader on your PC that gives you a drive letter in My Computer
A copy of NTRW v2.00 (in archive)
A ROM image (in archive)
Finding a friend who's happy with DOS will be a great help!
DOS commands are in Courier Font to help differate
Step 1:
Charge the phone!
Personally I'd charge the battery in the big slot on the USB base.
Step 2:
Make sure the small slide switch is NOT on Lock
(slide it down towards teh metal teeth)
Place the SD Card into your Card Reader
(Cancel any pop-ups XP throws at you)
Step 3:
In My Computer find the SD Card
Write down what drive letter teh SD Card is
Righthand button and format the SD Card
*** MAKESURE its the 512Mb SD Card***
Step 4:
Press the Start button
Click Run...
Type CMD
Click [ OK ]
Step 5:
You are now using a DOS Prompt
Navigate to the place you unpacked the archive using the CD command
for example:
if you unpacked this onto your desktop...
( C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Desktop )
then type the following
C:
CD "\Documents and Settings\Users\Desktop"
DIR
Step 6:
Remember in step 3 I said to write down the SD Card's drive letter?
Well in the next step I'm presuming it's drive F:
If it's not drive F: then change the F: to whatever the SD Card is!
Step 7:
type NTRW write ALPINEROM.NB1 F:
(the write bit has to be in lowercase, the F: must be your SD Readers drive letter)
Step 8:
Wait!
If you're lucky your Card Reader will have a small light which will now be flickering.
C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Desktop>NTRW write ALPINEROM.NB1 F:
NTRW v2.00
Removeable media
Cylinders: 0:61
TracksPerCylinder: 255
SectorsPerTrack: 63
BytesPerSector: 512
bufsize is 65536
Successful results will display the following!
507379712 bytes written bytes.
C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Desktop>
*** IF YOU GET ANY WEIRD ERRORS I'D HAZARD A GUESS
*** THAT YOUR SD CARD IS NOT THE SAME GEOMETRY AS THE ONE
*** I USED TO RIP THE IMAGE FROM THE PHONE ORIGINALLY
*** BORROW ANOTHER 512MB SD CARD
*** BACK IT UP AND TRY AGAIN FROM THE START
*** OR EMAIL ME ON CelticLo (at) deid (dot) net
*** AND I'LL SEND YOU CAN BUY A SD CARD OFF ME
*** WITH THE DATA ALREADY ON IT AND YOU CAN JUMP TO
*** STEP 10
Step 9:
Eject the SD Card from your Card Reader
On the SD Card slide the switch to Lock
(away from the metal teeth)
Step 10:
Take the charged mobile and turn it on
Place the SD Card in.
Do a Hard Reset
(Hold the Power button as you put the pen in the Reset hole)
Hopefully the screen will finally change from SERIAL V1.01 !!!
""
Press the Power Key as instructed
Step 11:
Wait!
When the screen says CHECKSUM OK then
Do a Hard Reset
(Hold the Power button as you put the pen in the Reset hole)
Step 12:
Follow the usual Windows Mobile 2003SE prompts to start the phone!

sounds great what about htc universal
Hi mike,
this sounds hopeful. Any idea about a HTC universal, will this work, are there differences?
Any reply would be greatly appreciated, as I am a bit getting desperate!
Greetings,
Curehead
Ok after an incident with a cup of coffee, my sound ceased working in phone, so, since everything else was working fine, and reading a load of threads on it I decided to downgrade back to the original ROM....
And I ended up stuck with that old 'Serial 1.01' message.
After reading more i downloaded mtty and got it to connect in USB, checked check the DOC, and as it was fine I was just going to download the restore files, when I noticed that the screen message had changed to 'USB'.....
So I started the Upgrade, and it found the Alpine, and worked fine!
So if you are stuck in bootloader, and you can connect with MTTY, run task 28 to check the DiskOnChip, if this is fine (no errors), then LEAVE IT IN THE CRADLE, check to see if 'USB' is showing on the screen, exit MTTY, and try upgrading again, hopefully it will work.
Happy New Year !!

Restore WM2003SE on Alpine; XDA IIi; qtek 2020i
I tried to upgrade my XDA IIi to WM6, being unaware that this was not possible, of course with the wrong updater, so I ended with cold brick.
After much pain and reading tons of nonsense and misleading or incomplete info written by people who have no idea of what they are talking about, I managed to revive it running the updater:
http://www.maxishare.net/en/file/378/alpine-1-11-171-radio-1-04-bluetooth-patched-camera-fixed-rar.html"
(Mirror 2) posted by kevcal
The device needs to be in BootLoader mode with the battery fully recharged.
How to Enter into BootLoader mode:
Press and hold the “Power” & “D” (navigation) buttons,
and then press the Reset Button until “Serial” shows on screen.
Plug device in the cradle. “Serial” will change to “USB”
Execute the file MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from the above *.RAR archive
Alternatively, you can download and run

Mega thanks guys!!! Legends! Woo
Hi, to everybody, i'm using mtty 1.42 and mtty 1.16 and does not have USB port in the combo box, only the mtty 001 but when i try to extract the ROM of my XDA EXEC, in the prompt "USB>" i type "d2s" with my memory card inserted but appear another prompt very fast and don't make nothing in my memory card maybe could be the version or maybe i'm wrong in a procedure.
because the only thing who i can make with my XDA EXEC is use another ROM to make more space in the memory and use more applications. Then i would like extract all the ROM to backup and then try to use another ROM.
Could somebody help me ???
i read the wiki of htc universal and other forums but don't extract all the ROM only a part of them.
the procedure that i'm using is:
- put the XDA EXEC in bootloader mode
- kill process wcecomm of the active sync
- connect XDA, put memory card, run mtty and put combo box in USB
- appears "USB>"and type "d2s" and wait until copy the rom a memory card
- reset the XDA, put the memory and read it
- but appears a message "format "memory" say NO (because is in RAW format)
- use ntrw in DOS mode typing "ntrw read nombrerom.nb0 x:" when nombrerom.nb0 is the image of the ROM and x: is the drive
and other question is: wich process i need to kill in win vista to stop working the active sync?
thanks so much
