Keyboard backlight - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

My exec seems to be very random with the keyboard backlight. Sometimes it works fine at night and other times it does not want to play at all.
And ideas??
Thanks

Could be down to the automatic backlight function, try turning it off and setting it so it comes on whenever you press a key

mine did this, i coloured the sensor in with a felt pen, now its pretty balanced, dusk like and its on,

Keypad Lights How to Switch On?

My nice blue keypad lights have dissapeared?....anyone know how to get them back on?...I'm typing in the dark here! :?
Go to: Start>Settings>Buttons>Backlight>Disable auto sensor.
Assuming somethings not fundamentally broken with your XDA, the settings for the keypad lights are found in:
Settings > Personal Tab > Buttons > Backlight Tab > [ ] Enable keyboard backlight auto sensor
Just uncheck that box should enable keypad lights when you start using them..
HTH!

Here is also some instruction from the WiKi pages on how to keep it to light up more than 10 seconds:
How long will Universal keyboard shine? 10 seconds is a few, change the value of this key and it will shine so long as you wish!

Cheers guys! Wow that blue looks so cool! ....just got my O2 XDA Exec today...no troubles so far...have set it up on my home LAN and am enjoying it very much.....

You could re-map one of your buttons.
To do this try Start - Settings - Personal - Buttons
Choose which button you don't mind changing then from the drop down list at the bottom select rotate screen (7th from the top)
Hope this helps
Lefthanded mode
Could some one please advice me how i can map the ;Lefthanded mode; screen to the hardware buttons cause by default it goes on the right handed mode.

The default orientation-change can be set in...
Start > Settings > |System| > Screen*
(o) Landscape (left-handed)
Then if you open/close the keyboard or use a button mapped to the <rotate screen> option (not an external application*), it should switch between the orientation set there and Portrait mode.
* for external applications, just be sure you downloaded the right one. Some turn by 90 degrees, others by 270 degrees.
External application
Thanks ZeBoxx
I have Vito Button mapper and when i press the hard key assigned to screen rotate,it goes to the right haqnded mode.Any suggestions??
I guess it might be using its own built-in rotation utility, which rotates it the wrong way around? Download one of the screen rotation utilities, I think you need the 270-degrees one
Is there a way to get the screen to rotate without assigning it to a button... ideally I'd like something in the start menu that rotates the screen - if anyone has any ideas if such a program/function exists!

Try this:
[HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation]
"LandScapeFixed"=dword:00000001
"LandScapeMode"=dword:00000004 or 1
Now press that button
"LandScapeMode"=dword:00000004 = Left Handed
"LandScapeMode"=dword:00000001 = Right Handed
Cheers
Thanks
thanks Tweaksradje that fixed my problem now it turns o the left handed mode without a hitch. Also thanks to Zeboxx

Funny how that's exactly what Start > Settings > |System| > Screen, etc. changes.

What exactly does that one do, though?
The few references found have no clear description, and one page even says it supposedly doesn't work in WM5 -_-
Ah, it seems to remove the left-handed/right-handed option in Start > Settings > |System| > Screen, and replaces it with just Portrait and Landscape.
/me sets it back to 0 real quicklike
so will the reg hack [HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation] always keep the screen rotated without using a button?
no.. applications can still change the screen orientation to Landscape/Portrait and back. In addition, the Wizard specifically has a keyboard driver which always puts the orientation into left-handed landscape when slid out, and back to portrait hen slid back in. So you won't be able to always keep it in a single orientation with this hack. A TSR program monitoring the orientation would have to be written which changes it back - or intercepts and nulls all orientation calls.
Landscape mode
Quick question
I have occasionally noticed that when i have picked up my wizard and about to start using it , that the screen is in landscape mode when it should be in portrait mode. (with the default being portrait and the keyboard not slid out)
The wizard then very quickly reverts to portrait mode without me doing anything.
Is this a bug in the software??
Is there anything i can do to fix it so it does not happen again??
Cheers

I would also be interested in that. Haven't found which applet does that in order to make a shortcut.

Are you using the standard case with your wizzard? I read somewhere that the magnets which keep the case closed affect the method of detecting if the keyboard is open. I know that when I was using VJokbutton if I closed the camera app using this program the screen remained in landscape mode irrespective of keyboard in/out status. Default behaviour returns after a soft reset.
Hope this helps.

Rotate screen

I have assigned the rotate screen function to a hardware button but it rotates the wrong way. It rotates clockwise in stead of counter clock wise.
When I push the button again the screen is rotate back again.
Can somebody tell me how to make the screen rotate counter clockwise when assigned to a hardware button?
Many thanx!

There's an easy way of doing that. Go to Settings > System > Screen and choose "Landscape (left-handed)" then your hardware button will switch between landscape and portraint as you wish.
Thanx
Set the orienation to lefthand worked!

This worked for me with WM5 but doesn't seem to work for WM6. My hardware button will only switch between portrait and right handed landscape. Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone found a solution?
This happens to me too Peon.
I havent worked out a way to fix it and i dont want to install a program just to do it either...

You mean the backlight goes out?
There is a configuration that the backlight should be 'always on'.
I mean when I donĀ“t touch screen or do anything the screen goes off and I have to push powerbutton to see Igo..
In iGO8 go to Settings>>>Device>1st bar, click on it until "Power Management Backlight Always On" appears.
big Thanks guys!

[Q] How do I remove the long press power button sounds while on lock screen?

How do I remove the long press power button sounds while on lock screen?
When my lock screen is active and I long press my power button the phone plays the default notification sound. I have Xposed installed and maybe one of the tweaks has turned this notification sound on, not sure. Anyways, its annoying and I would like to disable.
Any ideas?

When I go into the system settings and pick sounds I see the standard notification sound. I do not see a place to turn off notification tones.
I do see how you can select a default notification sound and I can pick silent but its weird this seamed to just start happening.
I'm i missing something?

Just follow the below procedure,

Its not the unlock sound. If I turn on the unlock sound it makes a little blip sound.
It's actually the default notification sound. And it only happens when I long press the power button when the lock screen is on.
If I long press the power button with the phone unlocked it doesn't make the sound. If I change the default notification sound to something else it plays that sound. So its definitely the default notification sound.
Sometimes I'm at a movie or in a work meeting and want to quickly mute the sounds on the phone. So I used to just long press on the lock screen. Now it plays the sound which is distracting to everyone around.
Any more ideas?
Here is another interesting thing.
If I go into gravity box and click power twaeks there is a disable power menu on locks option.
If I check that option the power menu does not appear like expected but the notification sound is still there when I long press the power button.

I was all ready to factory reset and noticed there is now a system reset option. So I performed a reset settings. Everything is now back to normal. And I did not have to load my apps again, very nice!

Yes all fixed, and it was very strange. I think it might have been xposed additions. I was playing with re mapping buttons and might have triggered an app with the long press on the lock screen.
