New Sunny backup Manager supports PIM backup - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

grap a trial copy herehttp://www.sunnysoft.cz/download/Sunnysoft_BM_WM5_CAB.zip
Enjoy

thanks for the head up.

Hmmm just tested it and everything seems to have worked fine apart from:
1. Its duplicating the t-mobile favourites and camera shortcuts in my programs list. I now show two of each.
2. My background picture wasnt replaced.
3. My start menu options were not refreshed with my settings

This program also seems to lock up your menus settings. Once you have restored your data you cannot ammend your menu preferences.
A bit flaky this I would stay away for now!

Any news for sprite back up?

Anyone know of the reg hack to clear the duplicated items in the menu options?

Missing Back button in PIE

I recently just noticed that when I browsed using Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE), the "Back" button on the bottom left hand side is no longer shown. It only shows the "Favorites" button, thus I can NOT go back to the previous web page.
I didn't make any registry changes or anything like that and the only programs that have the capability to changes hardware button settings are SpB Plus and SoftKey and they don't have the option to change the PIE application button.
Anyone know how I can bring the "Back" button back?
It only shows "favorites" when there is nothing to go back to. ie the first page of the session. As soon as you navigate to the next page it changes to "back"
That is correct. But what I meant is that even after I navigate to a website, the button still shows as "Favorites".
I.e. From "Home" screen, go to cnn.com, then go to yahoo.com. The "Back" button is not shown and I can't go back to cnn.com

Things to check:
Have you changed any setting that disables the PIE cache.
Is PIE able to cache pages eg is it to storage card and does it's folder still exist and is SD card reachable.
Perhaps try changing cache location?
Mike
Yes, I did change the PIE cache location to "Storage Card". That folder exist in File Explorer and I can see in "Storage Card" that there is a "Temporary Internet Explorer" folder.
I tried changing the size of the cache, move to "Extended ROM" and ROM storage, but to no avail.
I removed (but not uninstall) WisBar, thinking it may change it, but also to no effect. However, I don't think WisBar did anything to it, since it only skin the application.
I am thinking that some application may messed up PIE, but all the apps that I installed are the same ones I have installed in my old MDA and there was no issue on the MDA. If there is some registry change I can apply to fix it, do let me know.
Mmmm.....
Couple of things I'm curious about - SpB Plus and SoftKey. I don't have either of these. But It's worth setting back any setting you have entered since your problem developed. Just because it has no specific setting does not mean that a seemingly non related change has not caused problem (for example if you set smooth scrolling in PIE using say Tweaks2k2 you will find the tab behaviour when sending SMS messages has changed!). Do not just uninstall these apps as this will not reset the registry changes they may have made.
The reason I asked about cache was simply that with no cached pages to return to there would be no back option available,
Of course you will have a nice SPB backup or two available to restore with won't you!!!? I play around with mine so much (!) that I keep several backups at various stages of application installation and over time.
Also curious to know if your history is being recorded in PIE drop down list in URL box. At a pinch you could use this as a rough sort of back button.
I have not looked into all the registry keys for PIE. This forum Wiki or indeed the wiki for some of the other devices may already have the keys mapped out . I did find info on setting cache size.
In the end it may be simpler to hard reset if those backups are not available.
Mike
Thanks for the detailed info, Mike.
I did disable SpB Plus, but to no effect. At the end, I uninstalled WisBar, Spb Plus, and SoftKey but nothing change either.
Yes, I can do hard reset, but I am trying to avoid that because I have to re-install everything. I have a "base" backup using SpB backup, but it still requires me to install other program as the other daily backup sets may already have corrupted PIE registry.
I am hoping that I can do something about this via the registry, unless this is something that really require hard reset just like the issue I have with duplicate notifications. i.e. after soft reset, the alarm reminder and sound will start although no appointment or task is scheduled at that time.
Now I know why PDA is not popular for most people.. it's just too damn fragile! And I used Windows CE since the time of Cassiopeia...

How to clear the history of programs used in start menu

Is there a way to clear the programs used in the start menu and prevent how many are showing up?
thanks!
I did a SEARCH for "recent programs start menu" and found this little gem of a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251164
who woulda thunk?
Do you mean the recently used programs?
There is a freeware out there by Vicsoft called ClearTemp. I got it from freecabs.de, but they send you to: http://mobile-sg.com/software/mobile.asp?p=ClearTemp
The items it will clear from memory are:
Temp
Cache
Cookies
History
Large Mail
Mail Attachments
Internet Address
Boot Count
Dead Shortcuts
RECENT PROGRAMS
It will tell you how much space these are taking up, you check the box if you want these items cleared. Then tap Tools - Clean
VJEschaton will also clean the recent used entries. But I think you have to soft reset (with any solution?) for it to take effect.

SPB Panel menu decluttering?

Hey guys. I have a lot installed now and the SPB menu system could do with re-structuring as some things are in folders and others are not.
Anyone know how to add/remove items from the menu?
use resco explorer and go to windows/startmenu and edit all your folders there
Got TC so will use that. Thanks for the reply
Ok never delete the Settings folder lol. SPB Panel crashes and the half the phone hates you.
However, creating new folders and moving things around only changed the windows start menu and messed up the SPB menu even further....
settings > customize Menu (from the spb programs tab)
Sorry mate I meant clearing up the Programs subfolder not the SPB menu. I have a load of folders to seperate the programs up but it's ignoring them and just leaving a load of shortcuts...

Touch Commander totally messed up my phone

I installed Touch Commander, as the adverts looked promising, but I did not like it at all and uninstalled it immediately. Unfortuntely it has changed the way my Start menu looks, now the list is longer and the program names are smaller, also the list of the last used programs has disappeared completely. This is a nasty little program which also left a hand icon in my windows settings, which, when i click it gives me an error message. Could anyone please help me get the original start menu back? I couldn't find anything in Settings, it must have modified a registry setting.
to enable thr large start menu setings/system/touchflo/ then check large start menu. as for the hand i have no idea
Thanks mate, that did the trick, it also disabled other things but I managed to restore them. The hand icon in the settings doesn't bother me too much.

HD2 slightly screwed after failed SPB Mobile Shell install

Having only had my HD2 for less than a week, I've still managed to install a ton of apps and also tweaked a lot of the settings. Today, however, I wanted to try out SPB Mobile Shell so tried to install the demo. Nearing the end of the install, my HD2 started flashing up 'running short of memory' issues and in the end I had to cancel the install. The problem is that it seems to have partly installed SPB Mobile Shell and it's taken me a while to get back to nearly where I was.
Thankfully I did a full backup before starting the SPB Mobile Shell install, so I did a hard reset and restored the backup. Virtually everything is back to normal, but there is still one part that is odd. When I press the Start button, all I get is a blank screen with just the taskbar (and relevant icons), my wallpaper and a 'Today' icon. If I press Today, I get taken back to my normal today screen with clock and quicklinks.
I've checked Windows/Start Menu/Programs and all of the shortcuts, etc are in there. I think it may be something to do with SPB Mobile Shell and so I went to try to look at the Windows Mobile settings. I can't do the Start - Settings - All Settings route (due to the lack of icons as described above), but if I go into the 'Settings.lnk' file through Resco Explorer, I can get into Manila Settings. However when I then choose Menu - All Settings, it just remains on the Manila Settings page and doesn't open up the Windows Mobile settings page.
Can anyone shed any light as to what is going on ?
I've got a couple of options:
1. If I can somehow get into Windows Mobile Settings page, I may be able to fix this. Is there a shortcut or executable that I can access through Resco Explorer.
2. Do another hard reset and reinstall everything again. Does anyone know of an app that will list out all the programs I've got installed ??
Any help greatly appreciated !
Thanks
maybe u have installed the program secondtoday for switching between spb and manila? the page u get after the softreset is the default windows today screen..
u can use bsbtweaks for example to put a shortcut of the wm settings to the startmenu...
all programs u have installed are listed under settings/system/remove programs...
