hi all...
I bought two I-Mate JASJARS today itself. 1 for my cousin n 1 for me. It just so happens that 1 of them has both incoming and outgoing port for bluetooth and 1 has only option for incoming port.
I fail to understand how this is possible.

I believe that this is related to how the devices where setup. The one that has both incoming and outgoing ports would be the one used to discover the other I believe. Just use the one with incoming only ports to discover the other. And it should get both incoming and outgoing ports.
Hope that helps.
Dah

Hi Man...
Nothing to worrry..
Incoming and outgoing ports are displayed when you have paired to some other BT devices except BT HEadset...
I hope this solves yr probs....
BTW from where u got jasjars and what price...pls do let me know...

Cannot oper/register serial port for Bluetooth

I'm developing, for XDAII and in eVC4/Win32, an application that opens a serial port for incoming Bluetooth. The Bluetooth Manager sets COM4 as active port number, but my call:
CreateFile(TEXT("COM4:"),GENERIC_READ | GENERIC_WRITE,0,NULL,OPEN_EXISTING,0,NULL);
fails with error message "The specified network resource or device is no longer available".
When I then try to call:
RegisterDevice(TEXT("COM"),4,TEXT("ASIC5_BTUR.Dll"),0))
also this call fails.
What am I doing wrong ? When I look in the Register [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active] I find no COM4 active so there is no obvious reason why this call should not work. Have the BTHTools1100 patch installed !
Hello, I am experiencing similiar problems. Have you resolved yours ? If yes, could you show me how you open your ports etc.?
read this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=1263&highlight=
I am not sure how your link to COM1 prolems regaqrding signals sould help me. My problems are with opening Bluetooth SPP ports, those that show up as the Inbound and Outbound COM ports.Though I would think that both are active, üsing CreateFile() I can open only the Incoming one (COM4) while I receive an INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE for the other one (COM5).
I just saw some info on com ports being inactive as well as a test program so I thought I'd mention it. Didn't mean to provide a solution, sorry
I tried to get the Bluetooth working and also had trouble. I think the inbound and outbound comm ports is to do with if you are using your SPP device as a client or server. It is not as a lot of people think that TX and RX data are on different Comm ports.
I cound not get Bluetooth working at all using my original XDAII rom of 1.60. I downloaded Pocket Bluetooth Tools http://www.bluetooth.jazztel.es/ and then it worked easy on Comm7.
I recently upgraded my XDAII Rom to 1.72 and I tried the Bluetooth support again. This time the XDAII even said I am connecting to a serial SPP device and automatically allocated the Comm port. But I must say my program could still not transfer data correctly using it. It all got stuck in some initilisation sequence. Now that may of been my software so I don't want to blame the XDAII.
All I know is I installed Pocket Bluetooth tools again onto my 1.72 XDAII and all worked fine again on Comm7.
A friend of mine has a new XDAIIs and the inbuilt bluetooth support on that worked 100% first time, no need for the Pocket Bluetooth Tools on that. So I think the problem is with the XDAII and it's built in SPP support.
Had the same problem, resolved it:
Strange but true, but on XDA2 etc, in order to receive COM Bluetooth, you have to open the outgoing port as shown in the Systems Bluetooth settings (You have to tick it there, too, of course), not the incoming.
Then, as it is blocking, you have to create a thread that listens on the port.
You cannot use RegisterDevice for a port number (in your case COM4)that is already used and open.

OOPS.... and you have to call OpenFile(), not CreateFile() !!!!!!!!!!!

Bluetooth beam problems receiving files/items MDA2

Hi all,
Not sure whether this has been asked before (I searched the forum for it, but couldn't find any directly related subjects):
Does anyone have problems with receiving files from other phones/MDAs using Bleutooth?
I am experiencing problems with this: I can send files to other devices using bluetooth, but somehow I can't receive any files (it fails every time I try).
I already tried with enabling/disabling the incoming port, choosing a serial profile, etc, but nothing worked.
Does anyone have a a solution?
BTW: my bluetooth connections to my headset and BT GPS mouse all work.
Thanks in advance!
Desmo.
for receiving files from a pc, you pretty much need to have BT turned on that the devices paired. For receiving files from other handsets etc, you need to ensure that your device is discoverable to other devices in the BT settings (start->settings-> connection-> BT make sure both boxed are checked)
HTH
Jim
Thnx for the reply, but I already tried that. I put Bluetooth in several modes, on and discoverable. In both modes I could only send data, but couldn't receive data from other sources like another MDA or phone.
I also tried changin the inbound and outbound COM options, didn't work either.....
Can anyone help pls pls?
I have the same problem on my o2 xda exec.
I switch on bluetooth, & make it discoverable by other devices.
I can send files no problem but when i try to receive files from another phone, the other phone says "sending failed" all the time.
Ive tried with an established partnership and without, make my device discoverable, messed with the incoming/outgoing com port settings etc etc
pretty much everything i can think of but to no avail.
Anyone else had this problem and managed to over come it?
Ahah
Sorted it.
If you upgraded to the lastes o2 rom 1.13.188 the accept incoming beams is turned off by default.
Just enable start>settings>connections>beam "enable all incoming beams"
enable bluetooth, make your device discoverable.
Now you can receive files over bluetooth.
No need to mess with com incoming/outgoing ports.
Thnx Sirius-C! That should work indeed.
BTW: 10 types of people in this world. LOL!

No Outgoing Bluetooth Port option . . . is my XDA EXEC a dud

Hi Folks -
Lots and lots of threads dealing with BT issues begin with 'create a new outgoing port' ... and then go on to discuss this or that (usually about tomtom!). BUT, even from a hard reset, in my bluetooth settings, com ports, there is only listed 'new incoming port' There is NO outgoing port entry! The text above the box even merrily goes on about 'to connect to a device, tap 'new outgoing port', but there is only 'incoming port' listed. I can use the incoming port to connect to another phone and send/recieve files via BT, so I know the BT works in general. This is true from hard reset in both corporate and personal setup. Any ideas anyone? I'm hoping for a registry tweak that will make the outgoing port appear for use so I can use my buttonless BT GPS (which works with my P910i just fine!)
Or, is my Exec a dud...sob..
Thanks in advance all,
Blueearth
This is still the case after you've paired the devices? (PPC & GPS) :?
I cannot pair with the GPS - it's one of those with only an on-off button. The Exec doesn't find it when clicking the 'new partnership', though it can locate another BT phone, and the GPS works fine with my SE P910, so I don't think it's a hardwear fault necessarily. What troubles me is that under the com ports tab, the instructions talk about clicking on 'new outgoing port' - but there is no such text in the box below, only the 'new incoming port'.
Anything spring to mind?

The 'new outgoing port' only appears after you've paired with a device and checked the Serial Port service for it. Delete all pairings and try to pair with your GPS again. Even on the p910, you have to pair with the GPS before it works, so the GPS apparently has working pairing.
Try switching on your GPS and holding in the on/off button until the BT indicator on it either comes on constantly or starts to flash, then try searching for it from your phone.
Hi -
Thanks, both for the suggestions - I will try them when I get back from work and let you know!
BlueEarth
Still no luck I'm afraid, though I see what you mean by the outgoing port only appearing after a parnership is set up (when I partner to my P910).
I think, in the absence of any other thoughts, that it must be that the BT GPS I am using (a Youngtek GNT-120) is just not recognized by the Exec. Typical M$! You can just believe they'd mess with the Bluetooth Standard, which on all other BT devices I have ever used - including this particular BT GPS with several other phones - has worked flawlessly.
Can anyone post the model of their BT GPS device which does get 'seen' by the Universal/Exec? Looks like I'll be selling mine on ebay and getting a different model
Thanks all - if you can let me know a BT GPS which will be hassle free to partner I would appreciate it!

Hi,
You'll probably need to start bluetooth via the comm manager.
It will find other hardware with open bluetooth ports.
- Go to the file you wish to beam to someone else.
- Tap the file (keep the stylus on it untill you get the menu)
- Choose " send file" (this might be called differently, my version is dutch)
- Select bluetooth.
Good luck!
Greetz,
Flar
it doesnt seem to work
when I beam a file, it never detects a bluetooth. all it shows is the Infared and searching... it searches for a long time but never detects a bluetooth. any other suggestions?

Hi,
The procedure I gave seems to work properly with my MDA.
You could check if the person you're beaming to has bluetooth (turned on) but I guess you've checked that already.
Otherwise try to minimize the distance between the two pieces of hardware.
If that doesn't solve your problem, I can't help you any further, maybe bring it by the shop where you bought it to have it checked?
Good luck & greetz,
Flar
yeah same here never managed to get bluetooth to work
i found that i needed to enable beam recieve in order to recieve on bluetooth, the incoming and outgoing port stuff i left alone.
so i can now receive files but haven't got a clue how to send them, i make a bluetooth partnership ok (my mate can then send me a file) but i can not find the option to send one back. the file explorer menu doesn't have bluetooth listed on it?

I am having this same issue. Anyone know the solution? All I want to do is send some files to my wife's v3 but I cant setup a new outgoing port. I am running the latest official rom from cingular.
You need to ensure you already have bluetooth turned on before starting this procedure (many miss this simple point, as they assume it will automatically turned on)
Tap and hold on the file you want to send, and select "Beam"
Wait a few seconds for it to scan for devices.
All IRDA recipients (If any) will be listed, and below them, all available Bluetooth recipients will be shown.
Hope this helps you m8
I'm using TMobile MDA, newest ROM, and having the same problem, I'm able to recieve bluetooth but there is no option for beaming a file via bluetooth, only IR... and yes, bluetooth is enabled properly and I am properly partnered with a V3...

Make sure both phones are enabled to be "seen" . My friend and I were trying to figure this out the other day, and she has her device set to something like 'make this device invisible' so even though our phones were next to each other, her device wasn't showing up. Once we changed this, both devices were visible.
***However, neither phone was allowing the sending of files to each other thru the bluetooth, and I'm wondering if this has something to do with her having a Sprint Treo 650 w/ Palm OS, and I have Cingular 8125 w/ WM5.... anyone have any answers for this one??***
Thanks in advance.

Bluetooth Problems on X1

Hi,
hopefully anyone has an answer to the strange bluetooth behaviour of my X1.
The first device is a bluetooth headset from Sony. It works good, if bluetooth is activated. But after some time of not using the headset, the phone just switches off bluetooth. Sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes days after my last use of the headset. I tried all settings of the bluetooth-settings with no change. And it sucks if with the next phone call the headset cannot connect anymore because bluetooth was switched off.
The second device is a GNS TrafficBox Plus FM9BT-Y. Somehow MN7 does not detect the device directly, so I have to use the workaround with the serial port and outgoing connection on COM1.
The initial minutes the connection works fine, but then stops and is not restored.
Here as well trying different settings changed nothing.
How can I find out the address of the bluetooth devices?
Is there a tool to further test bluetooth connections (like what speed can be used, the address of the device, etc)
Regards

Im using Itjes Touch 7 final & i have the same problem - infact i've had it with the last 3 of his roms with my blutooth to SEAT car. I'll be on a call in my car & it switches the blutooth off without warning. generally after about 10 minutes of actual call time. But it doesnt disconnect unless during a call ? There is no rhyme or reason to it, it just sometimes happens?
So any further info will be appreciated

I have Ra2generic DE with the 1.10 radio ROM on it.
At the beginning it was fantastic not having the bluetooth issue. Everything was working so extremely goood... no switching off, no disconnecting of and from the bt headset,, etc...
After a while the issue was here again...damn! So the bt became not very useful in its functionalities.... then I saw that it was not possible to see through my bt freespeech device in the car the last calls on the phone... hm, ok I said. There were lot of calls (incoming, outgoing, missed, etc) on the list...I erased them all...
Now it is working in a perfect way.... no disconnecting, no switching off..and this with the stock ROM and Radio ROM.
I tried it a few months before posting it here... now I'm cleaning up my calling list every 2nd day (I really call a lot) and I have no problems..
Hope it works for you..
i have the same problem, the bluetooth disconect without any reason, i have tried more than 10 Roms and i dont have any solution

Bluetooth with clarion mind
Am having trouble connecting with my new Clarion MIND - is seems the phone does not see the profiles (very similar to the phone adding the older SE Bluetooth Watch, the 100). Has anyone built a .cab to sort this out?
