who can let me know,
xda 2 has build in GPS or no?
or have 2 buy external bluetooth GPS?
can xda 2 upgrade to window mobile 5?
or build in WIFI?
Pretty sure that no XDA2 has built-in GPS, and therefore you will need either a wired or bluetooth receiver separately. The IIi does however have built in WIFI.
As for upgrading to WM5, not sure but certain someone else will let you know.
at buzzdev.net there is a beta version of 2005 which run on himalaya
it's not official though and nor is it ever likely to be i fear

Please Xda-developers if you have more info about this one tell me.

I have a XDA II and I'm trying to get it paired with my NAVMAN 4410.
When I try to bond the 2 units my XDA asks for a pin number, but the bluetooth gps doesn't have a pin.
Can anyone help with this
Thanks
marconi72
try entering 4 zeros.
if that doesnt work then have a look through the documentation that came with the gps unit.
if the makers set one, there will be a note of it in there somewhere
good luck
You will need the navman patch software and also you will most likely need bluetooth tools. make sure you delete the bonding before installing the new software then rediscover and rebond.
Do a search in this forum for "Navman"
Connecting the Navman 4400 series has been pretty well covered under the "Stocking up for it forum".
The biggest pain about the Navman is that the PIN is "NAVMAN" and the MS BT stack will not accept non numeric PIN's. Fortunately a wonderful guy called TOWA has released some fixes.
You need to install the enablechar.exe onto your machine to be able to key in the alphabetical PIN (Grrrr NAVMAN!).
If you run the latest ROM (I have the excellent 02 Asia 1.60 ROM) it has a BT Serial port built in. If you run earlier ROMS you may need TOWA's Bluetooth Tools.
Check out:

If you do use this software, think about sending TOWA a donation. It is great guys like him that help us to get the best from our XDA's

I have a Navamn GPS 4100 and a XDA Pocket PC but I can not make the link between them, The XDA does not allow me to write the PIN "NAVMAN ", it does only allow to write numbers. Can anyone send me the papatch to allow writting letters?
Thanks
Hi Inigomorales
Sounds like you have an XDA 1 and a wired Navman, correct? I have xda 2 and bluetooth Navman 4400 and use the enablecharacterpin program. Not sure if it works with your config, but don't see why it would not. Here it is!
Hope this helps

To All
I’ve been using the HOLUX gr 230 for more than a year in my XDA II using Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 with Destinator 3.075.
I never had any problems using it.
Last month I bought an i-mate JasJar that comes with original Mobile 5.0.
The Bluetooth seems to work fine because I’m using a Jabra 250V and if I turn it off and turn it on again, Windows recognize that the Jabra is on and work fine.
As you see in “display_2.bmp”, HOLUX work fine in the JasJar, with Destinator 3.075 see on “display_5.bmp”.
But, if I turn off and on again, It appears a message on the display: Cannot open the COMPORT as you can see on “display_1.bmp”.
Why it appears a “?” on the left side of HOLUX? (as you can see on “display_3.bmp”).
It the “display_4.bmp” you can see the HOLUX is working in COM 4.
Have somebody already tested HOLUX GR 230 on a i-Mate JasJar, or similar product using Windows Mobile 5.0?
Best regards,
Jose
This might be a slightly 'dumb' question, but - how did u manage to work fine with WM5 for a year, when it only came out officially just a few weeks back?
IF u did actually use WM5, and not something else branded as such (and I am giving u the benefit of my doubts here) - then MAYBE it was an unofficial and/or unfinished product/version, which might explain your current problems.
I have just bought the Holux 236 which I assume uses the same drivers as the 230, and also had some troubles, but haven't really manged to find time to deal with it yet - If I have any solutions in the near future I will let you know.
Good Luck!

Hey All,
I have a problem with my O2 XDA s. I am using an application written in visual c# which is known to work on other phones. I have tried both a Holux GPSSlim 236 and another GPS device.
Both show up fine when I scan for them and I'm able to set up a "partnership" and add an outgoing comm port bound to the device. But when I start the program all I get is "On, StartingUp" I never recieve any GPS data.
Attached is the source code which I believe is a slightly modified version of Microsofts example source code. Any help would be greatly appreciated this is a rather frustrating problem!!
My device is an XDA s running windows mobile 5.0.
Cheers
Jona
As above?
How do I set up GPS on my XDA ii?
Bump back to the top!
without knowing anything about gps on xdaII i'd bet
those people who do would like information about
1. what gps device you mean
2. how it connect to the xdaII as in bluetooth or wire or...
3. what gps program as in tomtom or.....
Of course
-Its an XDA II
-Connecting to a Navman SPiN 100 via bluetooth
-Using supplied Smart ST software. Also same prob if I try to use TomTom6 as well
-Can get them to speak to each other via bluetooth and seem to sync but there is never ever a satellite signal received. I dont think its a bad receiver as it was brand new from totalpda.co.uk
