Suddently when opening IE it automatically opens then immediately closes not giving you the chance to do anything.
Is there a cab file for the re-installation of Pocket IE
Have you tried a soft reset? Mine does this occasionally but a soft reset soon sorts it.
Same for me.
Has nothing to do with memory, cause PIE was the only program running.
Softreset helps.
The problem is that you moved the IE cache to your storage card. Unfortunately people have discovered that doing that causes this problem. If you clear the cache in IE it will help for a little while, but the solution is to move the cache back to the device.

After doing a couple of soft resets recently some of the icons in my start menu stopped working. These were the ones that relate to programs stored on my memory card. The icons themselves became white boxes with blue title bars and the programs could not be started from them. The same thing happened to the same icons in the programs folder at the bottom of the start menu (next to "settings"). The programs in question remained on my memory card and could be started by navigating to them. To solve the problem I reinstalled the programs succesfully BUT the blank icons remain in my start menu. When I go to Settings/Personal/Menus and try to remove them from the list of Start menu items I get the message "unable to move that item". The coloured icon representing the successfully reinstalled program also appears in this list. My Trinity now refers to my memory card as Storage Card2 where it was just Storage Card before all this. How do I get rid of these dead icons? Also is there another way to solve the problem of memory card programs that become inaccessible in this way, other than reinstalling them again? I have been unable to find relevant threads. All help gratefully received.
Thanks, Midgeslayer
did you try
\windows\start menu\programs
?
you shouldnt have reinstalled your programs in the first place. You should have just renamed your storage card2 to storage card, so windows can find the programs again. How? Look here:
http://www.gadgetme.com/?view=1&showMore=121
Your 'Storage Card 2' problem indicates a serious fault with the OS, usually as a result of a storage card corruption. These are known issues on P3600 and P3300 devices. It sometimes occurs if you elect to store messaging attachments, or the PIE cache on the storage card.
The blank icons represent the OS thinking 'card one' still exists but the programs are missing. As Rudegar says, you should be able to remove then using a File Explorer.
However, the only sustainable fix for the card error is a hard reset and reinstallation.
This usually happens when you unhide the Extended ROM. That`s what causes the storage card to be renamed. You should revert to the previous setting of ExtROM (hide it back), than do a soft reset.
Good luck!
Thanks
Thank you for all the advice. I got rid of the dead icons using a file explorer as suggested so the immediate problem is fixed. Doh! Why didn't I think of that? I confess to not entirely understanding the rest of the advice but if this problem occurs again it gives me a good place to start some research. Thanks again.
Sometimes on my Touch I've a problem...
An annoying popup comes and says there isn't enough memory...
And Netfront doesn't load the page....
So, Is there a way to move the CACHE of Netfront to Sd card??
I know something like that can be done for Internet Explorer, so what about NetFront?

Thank you!
I have just noticed that my memory is nearly full. (Only 6mb left)
Is there any software that can remove junk from here???
I don’t install software to this only to the storage card so I don’t understand how it can be full.
Any ideas anybody???
Steve
try using memmaid
If you use the Opera Browser try to clear the Cache
sometimes there are over 20MB on my Diamond!
Google Maps Mobile keeps a cache file that can get quite huge (mine was 27mb). It's in Application Data/GoogleMaps.
If you run GoogleMaps download the new version from m.google.com/maps and when you install it you have it removes the old version completely then asks where you would like to install the new one, opt for the Internal Storage, memory regained and no more clearing the Google Maps cache
Found the same if you install the Opera 9.7 Beta, that can be 'replaced' to the internal storage and therefore any cache can be kept forever (upto a 4 gig limit obv). I also deleted the 'Opera' folder out the Windows directory after installing the new version and this cleared up around a further 6mb, Only recommend installing the new Opera if you don't mind a glitchy browser, I have gone back to stock for now tho.
Also, try moving the 'My Documents' directory from the root to the Internal Storage, everything still works the same.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the advice I have updated and moved the Googlemaps and it has saved some space.
Nice one.
Ah, good. Glad I could help!
Guys,
Am in need of some desperate help.
Up until tonight all was well with the HD2.
However, for some unknown reason every time I now launch Opera it changes the name of my Storage Card to Storage Card 2 which you then can not enter in Resco Explorer and in place creates a new folder named Storage Card and places 2 folders inside:-
OperaCache (with 264 files within)
Inbox.numbers (and inside this folder Mail Attachements which is empty).
What this means is because it has changed the name of the Storage Card I can't access any of my installed applications/photos/videos/music...nothing.
If you then soft-reset, as it is rebooting it is looking for items in the content of Storage Card but Storage Card was renamed and the consequence is the phone doesn't boot up correctly.
The only 'tempory remedy' (until I next use Opera) is when the Phone has finished rebooting, I launch Resco Explorer, Rename Storage Card to Storage Card 3 and again soft-reset.
This time when the Phone reboots Storage Card 2 (the real Storage Card) is renamed back to it's original name of Storage Card and the Phone boots up normally.
All seems well until I then load Opera again ........ which then goes through the whole process over again in renaming Storage Card and creating another.. etc. etc.
Help... help... help.
This is more than annoying as it is effecting my work and here we are talking patient care which is of paramount importance to me.
Note:
I have tried rolling back the system to a previous Backup point using Sprite Backup but no matter which Restore file I select once the system reboots to this restore point and I again launch Opera it does the same thing over again.
I got the same, it was because I had changed the cache location to the SD Card, but when I had the device plugged in via USB in Disk Mode it stops the phone seeing the SD Card.
I just moved the cache back to the phone, and the problem goes away!

Are you talking about Cache Directory4 in the Opera:Config?
Edited:
Many thanks statplayer. Initial findings show this may have cured the problem.
I'll be doing some testing later tomorrow when I get up (bed time now).
The only thing I am totally baffled about is I did the Cache Directory switch to Storage Card quite some time back.
Since then I have used Opera and the rest of the system every day without any problems.
What's made it all of a sudden decide it wanted to react today and not on the day I first changed the Cache area???????
Obviously this I would love to know.
Anyway, if this has cured the problem I owe you a debt of thanks.
Will report back tomorrow.
In the meantime ~ Guys if you can offer any further advice on why it's not played up before, please chip in.

I had exactly the same issue in the situation specified regarding changing the Opera cache location to the storage card, accessing Opera with the USB plugged in (not activesync mode), and disconnecting the USB card then causing the phone to call the ACTUAL SD card "Storage Card 2" because Opera had already stolen the name.
It did cause a panick at first!

What I don't though is that I did this tweak quite some time back and until yesterday all was well.
I connect via USB daily and the same with Opera. Not once did I receive any errors.
Something triggered this all off and I would be grateful to whoever who can explain any reason why yesterday it all went 'pear-shaped' and played up.
Thanks Guys.

I have a Htc HD2 . It had been working very smoothly . But today suddenly after i backed up my device on my storage card it shows that DEVICE storage memory critically low in spite of having only 5-6 programs on my device rest all are on my storage card. i have also backed up my device on my storage card ( sd card) . so no point of backup taking up the memory . every time i see the free memory it reduces . Is there any malicious agent doing so or registry problem .
PL HELP !!! do i have to Hard reset my phone . If not please suggest some software or some technique!!
you must know that a piece of install information of the program installed finish always in your device memory.
but I think your problem is the HTC-Album cache or opera cache, but probably the HTC Album cache.
if you go in \Application Data\HTC\HTC ALBUM\ you can see if the problem is the cache folder
If the problem is that, you can find a solution here
Thanks a lot !!! Your advice was quiet precise ...It helped me . Now i can cope up with it..
Low storage memory HD2
I've had this problem for weeks. I tried everything said here to no avail. The little space finder program found it at last. It was the download folder in opera full of stuff I thought deleted (over 100meg). Used active sync to open the file and delete the contents. Folder is windows/opera/downloads.
There should be an option to download contents to memory card then this wouldn't happen. Head ache solved.
Regards

How do I clean the album cache without making any damage?
It takes now 16M of my storage.
I cant simply delete it isn't I?
