Shame Activesync only has one way file access - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

What im on about is I can access the jasjars files by using the explore button inside activesync over usb and browse away to my hearts content,
Is there a way to access the pc's files from the jj using the AS connection? so a reverse of the above.
i usually use resco to map a drive over wifi, but how could i do it using the usb cable and AS. I changed the jj's access in AS from The Internet to Work network, and auto, all have no effect.
It would be handy to have a film playing, sourcing the file from the pc and not have to either use wifi, or spend time loading avi's onto SD in preperation.

Quick question about bluetooth dongles...

If I bought any bluetooth dongle... Like this one

Would I be able to connect to my computers internet, which is not wireless? So I could go onto the Internet downstairs using my phone?
Also could I access my computers files from my phone when its connected? Would be great if I could listen to music files on my computer when connected.
I have one too
I use to do ativesync and it works pretty good.. you can use the internet but the signal strength is that strong but it might work.. i like it and with the files.. you can do it with AS but you can browse from ur phone to look at files on ur pc... It works only with AS tho
So if I connect with ActiveSync by bluetooth...
I can use file explorer on my phone to view files on my computer? (Or do you do it another way?)
Can I play the files from my computer too? Its really just for music and videos...

syncing problems

whether it's with the usb cable or the desktop cradle the sync between the phone and the desktop doesn't last for very long, it can vaey from 1min to 5min and is a real pain when it drops out whilst downloading a program.
Sometimes the display on the phone says it's syncing but if I look on the pc there is no sign of it in either windows explorer or the snyc centre (using vista), is this a vista problem or hardware/software problem with the phone.
thanks in advance

i used to have this problem... assuming you have already tried disabling the firewall and AV to see if it cures the problem (disconnect from the net first!)...
Firstly are you using WM6 or WM5?
if you are using WM6 then go to settings->Connections->USB to PC and untick enable advanced network functionality
if you are using WM5 then download the file (supplied by dopod) that makes the usb work using the serial protocol. the instructions are in the ZIP file, extract the cab file, copy it to your PDA (you may have to use a SD card reader if you cannot connect for long enough to send it or if not that use a SD slot on a Digital camera?) then find the file on your Prophet and install the rest is in the readme file.
ah shoot just read your running vista so probably not that! nevermind its something to try!
thanks for that, managed to put some videos on without the device crashing at long last

Accessing (from HTC) Shared USB drives connected to wireless Router

Hello,
Im running HTC 6800 (titan) with Resco file explorer (with the network addon). Im able to view and access shares from my desktop or laptop PC's at home (wireless via WIFI) with zero hiccups, it works A-one.
Here is my dilemma.
I cannot access my external usb drives (2x western digital Mybooks, 500gig each) which are connect to a Linksys NSLU2 Storage Link which is connected to a wireless router. Basically, the Linksys NSLU2 Storage Link makes my USB drives accessible anywhere.
So, to summarize.
USB 2.0 External hard drive ----connects via usb to-----> Linksys NSLU2 Storage Link -----connects via Ethernet to-----> Wireless router -----> which then gives my HTC its own DHCP ip/subnet mask (which are correct for my home network, since im able to view PC/Laptop shares).
Is there a reason why i cannot view these 2 USB 2.0 hard drive shares from my HTC? I can perfectly view them on my Laptop or desktop wireless. In Resco file explorer 2007 i go to my network places and see shares from my laptops/desktops and can access them... but for some reason i cannot see the hard drives. I also put the \\Linksys\hardrive1 manual UNC path to map the share but it didn't work.
Anyone wanna throw some things that i should be trying?

Wifi Streaming - Strange Problem

Wifi Streaming - Strange Problem
I am hoping someone may have come across the same problem as me because I have searched this forum and have not seen anything like this.
I have been trying to access my Music stored on my main PC via the wireless router which is connected to it (Netgear DG834G V3). I am using Pocket Player 3.5 with the new upnp plugin. I am trying to connect my HTC Touch which can connect to the internet via the wifi router no problem and I can also look at shared folders in Pocket player through adding a network folder address. I can play files this way also but the directory structure of my hard disk is long winded and I just wanted to browse the traditional way by artist/album etc..
I have found that Windows Media Player 11 does not recognize the Touch as a Upnp device and when I try and Network share on pocket player nothing happens. I have also tried Resco Explorer and it cannot map the drives also.
Something I found strange though is that I also have a laptop which is also connected to my Wireless router and when I opened WMP11 on the laptop it shared the files on the Touch. I looked at all the Network/Firewall settings etc.. on both the main PC and the laptop and they were almost identical so I cannot understand why my main PC isn't allowing the connection. The only difference is that my PC is wired to the Netgear and the Laptop is connecting through wifi.
If I actually plug the Touch directly into my main PC via the USB cable and close down Active Sync the Touch can suddenly read the WMP11 content on the main PC (although it gives the Touch a different MAC Code) however it will loose it as soon as I disconnect the cable.
Can anyone help! Am I missing something really obvious?

Bluetooth File Transfer - WIndows 7 --> Windows 8.1 tablet

SO, just picked up the Dell Venue Pro 8 - thing is really awesome and fast. My only gripe with it is why you cannot just plug the thing into a PC via the micro usb, and file transfer. This is the stupidest thing. I know I can use home network, and how to share files that way. But in my office that is not an option. Rather than ejecting the Micro sd card, plugging it into a USB, copy-paste onto sd, reinsert sd back into tablet, I would like to try to do a Bluetooth file transfer.
I have configured the devices, and they are connected. I have configured the Bluetooth share setting, and Bluetooth Exchange Folder location on my PC. I have added a file to transfer, now I go to my tablet, and literally have no idea where to go. I go to network, no files, Bluetooth settings, I see nothing, file explorer, shared files, etc. I don't see it. I google searched this, and couldn't seem to find the answer either. Can someone please help.
Thanks,

Bluetooth file sharing works much the same as an android phone, ie you actually have to select a file on one device and then select to send it over to the other device. You do not get a shared folder.
As for it being stupid that you cant plug your tablet into another PC. I think its entirely logical. Your tablet isnt really a tablet at all, its a full windows machine in a tablet body. Can you plug your laptop into your PC and transfer files? Perhaps think about what you are saying before calling something stupid. However, it is actually possible, just not via normal means.
Your tablet does support USB host with an adaptor such as this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-USB-Host-Cable-OTG/dp/B006P9G9YG
You could just leave it at that and use a normal USB memory stick to transfer files. Or go further: http://www.maplin.co.uk/usb-data-transfer-cable-221132
I havent tried one of these cables before, but they do allow direct machine>machine file transfer in one way or another.
Here is how to send a file over bluetooth in windows (top reply): http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-windows/57da28a1-f0e5-410d-b774-40f76df5aacb
Also, you *can* use BT to create a network connection (like WiFi but very short range), but I really don't suggest doing that. If for some reason you absolutely can't get your tablet and your workstation onto the same network and yet need to transfer files between them, a flashdrive or similar is the best option.
