The ActiveSync Program On my MDA Vario restarts itself every 30 minutes. Is it possible to turn this off?

Select ActiveSync on your Vario. Select menu -> select configure Server -> Enter just any name for server - select next - select advance - do not change drop down boxes and select next. Then unselect all check boxes - select finish. Then select menu again - select schedule - For both drop down boxes select Manually. Then push OK button. Now ActiveSync will not restart itself.

WM5 more complicated to use??

Hi folks:
I am loving my JASJAR, truly an amazing device. However, I cannot help but feel that I seem to be doing more screen taps than ever before (in my case the MDA, MDA2 and PDA2k) to get the same sort of things done.
Some examples:
a) switching between email accounts: I have to tap on menu, select "switch accounts" and then select the account I want to switch from the drop down menu: 3 taps (2 before)
b) sending/receiving emails: again, one extra tap in menu (no send/receive icon on the bottom of the email application).
c) this one drives me nuts: my GPRS connection keeps dropping (is this a common problem?) and to reconnect I cannot tap on the little icon on the top as I did with prior devices, but rather I have to go to settings-> connections -> connections -> manage exiting connections, and then tap on the GPRS connection (5 taps instead of 2 before).
Am I missing something here or am I just "WM5-challenged"?
Thanks for any advice.

you dont have to tap the menu to switch accounts. just tap INBOX (if you're inside your mail account) and switch to either TEXT,MMS or POP3

i'd rather have soft keys than icons so I dont think this matters much

GPRS should connect automatically once you do a task that needs internet connection.

You can also press the left or rigth arrows on the keyboard to switch email accounts.

This one gets on my nerves a little to. I know it will reconnect next time you need it to, but it seems like it disconnects to often, definitly more that my previous device.

Activesync (AS) and bluetooth (BT)

hello guys,
i need an help to configure AS & BT. Do you know a good guide
that could help me? Because when I try to sync from my HTC3600
with AS through BT I get an error message in Italian that states that
there is no partnership to a PC that supports BT. The problem that I have
already set up a partnership with definition of the serial port.
I guess it is a bit difficult to explain, but who has already had such
a problem could understand.
Please, let me know your experience. Regards.
These are instructions I developed for someone with a T-mobile MDA (Wizard G4) ...the USB sync was non-functional
NOTE: You must first install Microsoft ActiveSync on your computer…it can be downloaded here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx
(1) Enable the Bluetooth radio on your computer.
(2) Open ActiveSync on your computer…Start, Programs, ActiveSync.
(3) Select File from the menu and then select “Connection Settings.”
(4) Check the box that says: “Allow connections to one of the following:”
(5) Record the COM ports listed in the drop down menu (e.g., COM1, COM3, COM6, COM7, COM10) up to COM20.
(6) Select one of the COM ports (COM7 worked for me on this device…COM6 would cause ActiveSync to try to connect, but it couldn’t connect!?!?)
(7) On your T-mobile MDA Cell phone:
a. Go to Start, select Settings, and then go to the Connections tab
b. Tap on Bluetooth.
c. On the Mode tab check both boxes (Turn on Radio…, and Make this device discoverable….”
d. Tap on the Devices tab…select New Partnership…your computer should appear in the window.
e. Tap on the name of your computer to highlight it and select Next…
f. You may need to enter a Passkey (depending on the settings)…enter “0000” (i.e., enter 4-zero’s) and hit Next.
g. You may also have to enter the 4-zero’s on your computer.
h. The Select Services window should appear…check the box that says “ActiveSync” and then tap on Finish.
i. If you do NOT see ActiveSync you CANNOT proceed
ii. If you do NOT see ActiveSync as an option then select the Refresh option.
iii. Close all windows on your MDA.
(8) On your T-mobile MDA Cell phone
a. Go to Start, select Programs, and open the ActiveSync program.
b. Tap on Menu and then select Connect via Bluetooth.
c. ActiveSync should open and connect with your device.
Troubleshooting:
(a) If you get an error message that no device is set up, and the MDA asks if you want to set up a device, select Okay.
i. It will bring you back to the Bluetooth program & the Select Services window.
ii. If you do not see ActiveSync as an option go to the COM Ports tab and tap on New Outgoing Port.
iii. Your computer should be highlighted in the Select Device window.
iv. Click Next.
v. You will see a drop down menu with some COM ports listed…record these ports (e.g., COM6 & COM7)
vi. Make sure the COM port you selected in Step 6 above is shown in this list…select the same port (e.g., COM7).
(b) It has been my experience that the two keys are:
i. Step 7h …keep trying to “Refresh” until you see ActiveSync as an option (i.e., establish & then delete partnerships, and re-establish partnerships until it appears).
ii. Step 9a-vi …mess around with the combination of COM ports until it matches.
iii. Be sure that the port you’re trying to install in Steps 4, 5 & 6 are associated with your Bluetooth device…go to the Control Panel and examine your Bluetooth COM ports.
(c) NOTE: You do NOT need to establish the partnership from the computer side…it is ALL done from the MDA side!

How to STOP internet?

This seems a dumb question, but cant find the answer...
I go on the internet for a few mins, cose down the internet, then (discovered this by accident) if i cick on the top task bar (notification) it says i am connected to orange internet for xx time (and increasing) why doesnt the internet connection stop when i shut down the application....????
thanks
Once your device connects to GPRS/3G, it stays connected, that's normal. If you want to disconnect manually just go to the settings tab in TouchFlo, go to Communications and toggle the 'Data Connection' slider to 'Off'.

How to disable data connection manually in Omnia II (WM 6.5)

Hi All,
I've got Omnia II with WM 6.5 in which i have to manually turn off / disconnect the data connection all the times and it always turn on again after a while.
can anyone recommend or suggest which way / tools to disable the non-wifi data connection only ? so far i only i need GSM and the Wifi only to reduce unwanted cost.
Thanks.
Open Samsung Settings (press the big button) and hit on the top line the key with the arrow left/right.
Select the Option "Wireless Manager" - and take a look at the right bottom corner. There you see "MENUE" - press it and select "Data con. Settings".
Tick all three Options and select the "TIME OFF" at "NO PACKET FOR". Switch device off and on again and from now disconect the WiFi connection with a short press on the PowerOff Button.
yes that works man, now I'm using nodata.cab to make the setting permanent.
How to disable data connection manually in Omnia II (WM 6.5)-do not see "data" option

If you changed your SIM card and your provider, then it can happen that the default configuration for your data connection is not set automatically.
Maybe you need to set your APN for your data connection yourself.
Hi Brainmaster.
How to set your APN for data connection yourself?
i used to auto Configure the Internet Connection every time change the sim card follow the profile... since it not work for WIFI to internet.
Appreciate your help.. thanks
First, try to restart sence.
Second, see if your wifi is working for internet browsing, for example.
Third, reboot your phone
Four, try to re-apply the assistant (zero configuration setting)
Then, if nothing is working as you want, you can try this:
1. Click on ‘Windows hardware button’ at main screen.
2. Go to ‘Settings’.
3. Select ‘Wireless & networks’
4. Check ‘Mobile network ~ Use phone for data connection when WiFi is unavailable’.
5. Select ”Mobile network ~ Set options for roaming, networks, APNs’.
6. Select ‘Access Point Names’. Note – A blank APNs page will be shown.
7. Click on ‘Windows hardware button’. It will bring up 2 options ~ ‘New APN’ and ‘Reset to default’.
8. Select ‘New APN’.
9. Key in ‘My APN’ by clicking on ‘Name’. Note – you can key in any name you want. I selected ‘My APN’.
10. Key in ‘My APN’ by clicking on ‘APN’. Note – you can key in any APN you want. I selected ‘My APN’.
11. Click on ‘Windows hardware button’.
12. Then click on ‘Save’.
13. Select on ‘My APN’.
14 at very bottom where it says 'apn type....put in 'default'
15....clcik save
16: clear cache, cookies, location access the lot
Maybe, it can help.
