Does anyone esle find that when using their machine- open , holding in one hand, there is a moisture build up around the hinge
( My hands are bone dry )

it's......ALIVE!
On a more serious note, have you just unpacked it? If so, it could be moisture evaporating.

colinc57 - what kind of sites were you browsing at the time, one handed...

unfortunately , given my house is wired rather than wireless, and my current arguments with o2 over free browsing , I certainly won't be visting to many sites with lage pictures / video
actually was talking about wehn playing bubble - thats the time its (xda) in my hand most

hmm
water bubbles ;o) check for leaks..
hehe
Played bubble just now for 10 minutes and have not seen any moisture build up.. and my hands wern't really bone dry
got a picture of where exactly the moisture is? how does it taste? is the battery leaking???

WARNING - Beware when tasting strange liquids leaking out of electronic equipment!
It may be better to test if they burn your skin like acid first before drinking them.

No not the battery ( edit to answer below 1 week old .. sadly not used much yet...)
Notice when playing bubbles ( break out song - perhaps in Michael Jackson !) I have it fully open with my finger extended down back
the moisture starts at the middle of the swivel hinge - and works outwards
admit it worse when using in bathroom ( go on admit it playing games / reading on loo , whats the difference- we all do it , don't we)

No seriously. Can't see why it'd be moisturizing if not moisture from unpacking. How old is it?

Call O2 and tell them about it, you will more than likely get a replacement, just remember to active sync backup before sending it off.

No

It doesn't replace it. You can use it for DivX and leave WMP doing everything else.

Ok, I think we are all getting a bit confused with this thread....
The initial question was "NO" so I think the correct answer should be, bearing in mind the complex nature of the issue, be as straightforward as possible.
I think someone like "Buzz" or "Mamiach" should be contributing to this incredibly complicated problem.
I still stand by my previous answer, which was based purely on logic and constipation.
(Maybe this thread should be moved to somewhere no one is going to shout at us acting our shoe sizes)
i think we must remember that a lot of time has been spent by a lot of peaple to answer the very important question, and yet "littld" hasn't even come back to let us know if our answers have helped!

Identify hardware inside Magician

Hello all,
I opened the Magician to repair the phone speaker, but also painting the housing. As I carefully document the parts I found one piece of hardware that draw my attention. I have a clue what it might be, but would like to share it, so maybe you know what it might be.
First some pictures

}
Location of the unknown hardware. When you hold your magician face up (screen up) it's under the red phone button.
piece we're talking about.
Where the 2 contact point on the unknown hardware connect to. Just like the phone speaker it kind of floats, so no wires..
As I watched carefully I noticed the shape of a half cylinder. By moving your PDA vertically/horizontally the heavy side moves towards where gravity is, meaning it always points down. (see picture 2)
I think it's some kind of hardware that suppose to, if a software supports it, turn your PDA display horizontal or vertical when you turn it. Something like iPhone demonstrated or even closer Wizard. Wizard's screen automatically goes in horizontal mode when the keypad is sliced out.
If this unknown hardware is what I think it is, why isn't used then? It would be a very nice feature
What do you think it is?
its your vibration motor.
ie: when you have 'vibrate' enabled, and your phone rings, that little motor spins like crazy and the uneven shape of the weight creats the vibration.
Yes, Definately that is the vibration motor.
Yeah... I forget Magician was a phone too... Since I don't use the phone I lost focus
Anyway... It would be great if it could have the ability to turn the screen auto. My guess would be that if that small motor could send it's position back to a chip it should be possible for software (OS for example) to act. (dual function)
I'm trying to fix my vibrator and your pics would help but the links no longer work.
Can you please relink or rehost them or send them to me?

Adapt stylus broke my silo!!! Don't buy them!!!

Hi everyone,
Today I bought a set of new styli from Adapt for my Hermes. I used it for a few times today. But one time when I reinserted the stylus after entering some text, I heard a "knack" sound in the silo. Now my stylus will fall out when picking up the device. I am very disapointed with this particular Adapt product and recommend everybody who reads this post to not purchase their styli.
But my real question is, does one of you know how to fix this?

You have either broken the white clip or dislodged the rubber block.
You would need to remove the back casing (4 screws) and unclip around the edge.

nice one mike, excellent answer.have a go dude its very easy actually
Fixed it!
Thanks Mike,
Fixed it this evening. Indeed, it was just too easy! Only releasing the back, after unscrewing it, was kinda tricky. Everything turned out fine and it works like a charm now.
Thanks again!
Scott
Good news!
I forgot to mention, but I'm sure you remembered to line up the camera's macro toggle arm when putting the back on again. If not you'll find the macro switch doesn't work. If so it's easy to remove the back, line iup the switch (a bit fiddly) and replace back cover again.
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the tip.
Before I attemted the "surgery", I read the blog you reffered to throughoutly. So I knew about the macro switch. But thanks again!

Something stuck deep into the stylus sleeve

Hi everyone,
I have a peculiar problem. Somehow something (probably a tiny piece of cloth) is stuck at the very end of the stylus holder hole/sleeve. Now the stylus doesn’t get completely in anymore and I don’t think such small tweezers exist to extract this object.
I am considering opening the device up but the upper right screw has a sticker saying “void” on it, and I really wouldn’t want to void the warranty.
Has anyone had this problem before? If so how did you resolve it?
Thanks
I think opening up the whole device should be the last option, as you will loose your warranty probably.
What have you tried so far? Maybe you can go into the sleeve with something like a conductor and try to pull this tiny piece of cloth out.
I've tried with a toothpick but it was too small. I am thinking of buying a disposable medical syringe that should be longer and provide some suction to ge the thing out, but I am a bit scared of damaging something by "going to deep"
Uncurled paperclip?
try a vacuum cleaner?! perhaps he can vacuum it out ...
Sticky tape or blutack on the end of the stylus?
Kev
Thanks for the advice everyone. I've tried an uncurled paperclip. Even managed to make a tiny hook at the end of it but nothing. whatever is in there is well stuck to the bottom.
I am thinking of sending it back to htc under warranty. I'll play dumb and say I have no clue why I can't get my sylus completely in (which is not too false). I am hoping they'll open it up to check whether there is some fault, and, if they really find something stuck in there they might just take it off.
What do you guys think?
You should try something like that:

Run the device under a very high pressure fireman's hose, or one of the ones they use when stripping rust off ships paint (just dont get your fingers in the way).
That should do it.
well i found the HD sevice manual in pdf somewhere so if you need to open it i can say DONT DO WITHOUT MANUAL! lots of mistakes are possible when trying on yer own.
pm me for it if you are in need.
The diamond had a problem like this.....
there is a magnet that the stylis slides through....
on some diamonds it can come unglued.....and then the magnet can move
just wondering if this could be the same problem....you never know

Thank you, i intend to replace my front cover.
i think you shoud wait... i have removed the old front cover and now i have touch problems(i press certain area and the phone rigesters another area) don't know what to do??
i believe that my phone is out of warranty now.
if any one knows where the problem is please help!
the phone is now back from the repair center ... they have replaced the whole screen with touch ... it had cost me a lot of money "about 500 LE" and the phone now isn't the same as it was before this ... so i don't recommend any one of you to do this without being completely careful ...
now my phone is out of warranty ... and i have to pay extra money to revert it back to it's original case ... so BE CAREFUL with what you are doing as this is not easy as it seems to be.
Yes I fu**ed up mine too. First it was some indentation on the front upper rim, then the camera lens cover, so I decided I was up to a DIY work. I've often refurbished my dear SE phones to look as new but this level four repair has proven to be beyond my reach. The local service co. returned the phone in the same state and said no can do.
T'is the time I had to admit I really love this crappy piece of software on a wonderfully sweet hardware and have to get another one back, as price dropped as low as its makers dropped the phone itself.
Next SE X2 I will lay my hands on will have all my TLC and probably end up years from now as a stylish portable FM radio player, aside to an old R520m I use as the ultimate alarm clock with light sensor snooze.
thank for share
