I have been looking on ebay and have seen an upgrade that might work ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6445067715&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1) item number 6445067715. Although the auction doesnt say anything about any specific device I emailed the seller asking if it will work on a XDA 2i and got the following response:
Hi, this is for Smartphones and Pda's that have windows already installed on
them and the pda's must have a camera button on them, thanks mjase
Any ideas if this is right and would work on the XDA 2i? Although I dont have one yet I am looking at getting one (my old IPAQ 2210 screen stopped working a week ago) and although I have a Sony Ericsson s700i I thought it would be nice to get everything under one device - can anyone tell me if the camera on the XDA 2i takes better pictures than the Sony Ericsson s700i?
thanks
James

My XDA IIs keeps saying blutooth licence has expired! and I searched for devices and it found none when my mate found 20+ on his mobile!??!?!? If its gunna cost me surely its easy to uninstall??? or is this just a **** up somewhere?
Hi
This is a known issue. Later versions of the bluetooth stack for the blue angel have fixed this, but O2 are dragging their heels in releasing this for the XDA IIs. Typical....
Some people have reported success in installing the IMATE bluetooth update 3500 onto XDA IIs devices. I have not tried this. Check the Blue Angel forums for more info.

Theres a O2 release V3500 ovet at http://tekguru.co.uk/
This fixed the problem for me. Although it did screw up the screen display untill i chose a different today screen and then changed it back again so no big problem.
Hi,
I'm considering purchasing an Magician (XDA Mini) but one of the reasons for doing so is to use a program called Memory Map (www.memory-map.co.uk) combined with a GPS receiver to go walking/cycling with.
Does anyone know if the memory map software works? It claims to be compatible with "Any Pocket PC that uses the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 or Windows Mobile 2003 or later." but I'm not 100% convinced that this includes the phone version... no one in the highstreet phone shops can answer this question and I would like to be sure before shelling out on a new phone!
FYI: memory map do a free 30 day trial, so if you're interested you could always try it out and let me know....
Thank you
yes it should work ok with the mini
works fine on my Blueangel, so I can't see why it wouldn't work on magician.
Works fine on my MDA Compact
It works!
Excellent, I'll be getting one then.... just got to wait 2 weeks for my orange contract to run out - what a long 2 weeks they are going to be!
Thanks all for your replies.
Cheers
Glyn.
OK, so I am looking to buy a Jam. I am in the UK and currently carry around an IPAQ with TOMTOM on for the car, a Nokia mobile phone and a Blackberry for my work email.
I've been reading these threads for some time and see there are some problems and no one can get the Blackberry client to work. But it could still save me two of the devices I currently have (phone / tomtom).
Which GPS devices are you using with the Jam and TomTom, are you happy with them and how much were they (in UK)?
Can I use bluetooth headset and bluetooth GPS with TOMTOM at the same time? e.g. if I am driving and tomtom is nagivating me, can I make and receive calls still?
How good is it as a phone? Is sound quality ok? I will be using it for work so can't afford to have something that isn't reliable and will annoy my customers!
Is there anything else coming along in the short term I should wait for instead of getting the Jam?
From your wealth of experience, do you recommend I get one or wait?
Will is work in America? My company is based in Boston and I travel there sometimes so it would need to work out there too.
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
I would wait for a similar device that ships with the new Windows Mobile 5. As it stands, there will be no official release of the OS for the Magician :-(
When released in September, the ETEN M600 will be a very good alternative.
(Hope HTC, imate, etc. read these forums!!!)
Just found this: http://www.mobile-review.com/exhibition/computex-2005-smarts-en.shtml
Looks like the R-Ten M600 might be the one I wait for as it has WM 5.0 and WiFi. Unless HTC release a new Magician.
You guys mean ETEN M600 ? But in another thread here they were saying Eten M500 is good enough... ?
To All
I’ve been using the HOLUX gr 230 for more than a year in my XDA II using Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 with Destinator 3.075.
I never had any problems using it.
Last month I bought an i-mate JasJar that comes with original Mobile 5.0.
The Bluetooth seems to work fine because I’m using a Jabra 250V and if I turn it off and turn it on again, Windows recognize that the Jabra is on and work fine.
As you see in “display_2.bmp”, HOLUX work fine in the JasJar, with Destinator 3.075 see on “display_5.bmp”.
But, if I turn off and on again, It appears a message on the display: Cannot open the COMPORT as you can see on “display_1.bmp”.
Why it appears a “?” on the left side of HOLUX? (as you can see on “display_3.bmp”).
It the “display_4.bmp” you can see the HOLUX is working in COM 4.
Have somebody already tested HOLUX GR 230 on a i-Mate JasJar, or similar product using Windows Mobile 5.0?
Best regards,
Jose
This might be a slightly 'dumb' question, but - how did u manage to work fine with WM5 for a year, when it only came out officially just a few weeks back?
IF u did actually use WM5, and not something else branded as such (and I am giving u the benefit of my doubts here) - then MAYBE it was an unofficial and/or unfinished product/version, which might explain your current problems.
I have just bought the Holux 236 which I assume uses the same drivers as the 230, and also had some troubles, but haven't really manged to find time to deal with it yet - If I have any solutions in the near future I will let you know.
Good Luck!

Hey everyone,
I'm considering upgrading from an E61 to a Hermes and wanted to get some specific info before I splurge I don't want to void my warranty so I would not be using any cooked/non-HTC roms on my phone.
Currently I like my E61 but I prefer WM to Symbian. Also, I find my e61 a little sluggish at times and hope the Tytn is faster.
Q1: Does Windows Messenger work perfectly fine in WM5 using Wifi? (Symbian lost Agile and now I don't have Messenger)
Q2: Is it possible to be happy with WM5 at this point or will I always want WM6 (ie; wait for Kaiser) (what are the KEY benefits of WM6 that i'll miss out on?) -- with my axim I preferred WM2003SE to WM5
Q3: Anyone else move to WM from Symbian? What did you like/dislike?
Thanks a lot!
Yes
Yes and
Yes!
WM5 is fine (although 6 is even better)... Messenger works fine over Wifi.
As with Symbian, the only problem you have is if you install buggy third party apps!
newbie to WM5
hello
I had a P910i before my Vario II, i waited for the P990 and decided it wasn't worth the wait
since i've got my new phone over two weeks ago, i've become a geek at trying to add new programs, change my today screens etc......
you can spend literally hours doing this and I never bother with my P910 its such fun
and then there is this forum which is brill
you can always 'cook' your hermes to a WM6, but if you can afford it wait for the Kaiser

Same situation here my friend!! I upgraded from a P900 (old faithfull) I was planning on the p990 aswell but the various delaysreally ticked me off. I ehard about the TyTN on esato forums and I never looked back! SOOOO glad i bought it too.
I was a bit unstisfied with my tytn and the original rom, reasons were random lookup/freeze and general slowness compared to the cpu clock of the device (actually same performance of the wizards with half mhz).
After the upgrade to WM6 with an unoffical rom both problems disappeared! the device is not really really fast and responsive (and I have already installed all my usual apps).
Well.... I took the plunge
The device should be here within a few days. I can't wait to try it out!
