Pocket MSN to work via proxied internet connection

Pocket MSN (MSN Messanger and Hotmail) only works with a direct connection the internet.
Does anybody know how to tweak it such as way (via registry setting etc) so that it can connect via the proxied internet connection.
The regular desktop MSN Messanger has the option in the app setting to allow it to work via a HTTP proxy server.
The reason I'm asking for this is that, some of us here in this forum, use the cheap GPRS service here in the US that only connects us to the internet via a HTTP proxy. We have web browsing and pop3 working, but not the MSN messanger and hotmail.
Thanks in advance for anybody that will provide some clue.

You must use a SOCKS-capable proxy. That is, not just a simple HTTP proxy. Also see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?s=SOCKS+messenger&sentence=AND - in there, I've also elaborated on this problem.
I understand this. However, the data service we use (T-Mobile USA t-zones) does not support SOCKS. We only have HTTP proxy and WAP proxy support.
Using the same data service from my laptop (with my PPC as the wireless modem), I could run MSN Messanger from my laptop (by using the HTTP proxy).
The Pocket MSN however, does not work. I would believe there is some way to tweak it to recognize the HTTP proxy as well.

Proxy and the web

Hi guys,
I want to use my Universal to surf the web at the university using the wifi. The problem is that the network use a proxy server. I found how to change it in the connection so that I can surf with explorer. My problem is that I still can't connect skype or windows live messenger.
Anyone can help me?

MSN Client - Connect through a proxy

Before my TyTN, I was using Symbian (S60). On S60, I knew a few MSN clients that could connect to the internet even though I used a proxy for GPRS.
Oddly enough, Windows Live Messenger could connect through the proxy with Symbian. On WM5/6, it cannot.
I tried Agile Messenger & IM+ also, but neither could do it.
I know a few java based MSN clients can work, but I'd really like to use a pocketPC version of MSN which can connect through my GPRS Proxy.
Any big names come up to your head that I could try?
ive been looking for one of these for ages, ive searched high and low and never found one. i want it for my work proxy. the messenger ive had to settle for is the internet one (http://www.ebuddy.com) which also support mobiles as well as pc.

windows live messenger, bluetooth

i have a bluetooth connection to my pc.
the internet is shared so i can access internet on my mobile.
i would like to use windows live messenger on my WM6 mobile threw bluetooth connection.
internet explorer can access web pages so the connection is working.
but i get this error from windows live.
"Windows Live was unable to establish an Internet connection. Pleas check your Internet settings and make sure that you have access to data services under your billing plan. If you need help, please contact your mobile service provider."
i get same error when trying to use windows live via activesync using usb connection.
i was able to get fring to work using active sync. but fring is a pain to use. no groups and its hard to tell who my contacts are if they change their display name.
i would just like to use windows live messenger.
how do i get windows live to work with bluetooth or activesync? preferably without using activesync and just using a bluetooth network.
never had any problems getting msg to work over an activesync connection
try
settings->connections->connections->advanced->select network
and make sure your home network is selected rather then your isp
and if that don't help I'd sugest getting a different version of msg as some of them don't work with anything but gprs
okay thanks, ill try some different versions
i have tried the version that comes with my phone, samsung i780. and the latest version form microsoft site. they did not work for me.
does anyone have a link to a version they know that works threw activesync?
