I'm MDA Compact user from 06. 2005, and I've noticed that green dial button does not work always. After soft-reset dial button work again, but... that's slow way (about 90 seconds slow ;o) to fix this problem. Any faster solution? I've tried to kill all "phone" processes and run it again, but this "trick" doesn't do a god damn thing
Any similar experiences, bright ideas? :?:

I think killing phone processes is probably the problem. I have noticed the same thing on my Universal- if I close Phone in Task Manager I can't reload it until I soft reset. Any ideas why this happens?

But... I killed the phone processes only when the dial button didn't work. I've never try to kill a phone process when my green dial key worked! Hm... Very similar problems..
Thats really weird- we have similar problems but different causes by the look of it. has anyone else noticed this?

Hi,
Have anyone experienced their SIP (keyboard/letter recog/block recog/transcriber) slow to change after installing VC1.5?
Try this: tap the little triangle next to the SIP in the middle of the bar and change it to something else. Say u're using keyboard, click the triangle and change to transcriber. How long does it take to change? Mine takes about 3 seconds! (by counting 1001, 1002...).
VC1.5 is definitely the culprit, as I just removed VC1.5 & it's fast again. Did a hard reset, and installed VC1.5 as my 2nd application, and sure enough, it's slow again. My 1st application was just a softreset app.
Strangely, the 1st time I upgraded to WM5.0 1.60C (I'm using Xda2, btw), the SIP change was slow. Then after several months, I hard reset and the SIP change was fast. 2 days ago, I hard reset again, and now it's slow again.
Anyone have any ideas?
(posted this at another thread also, but maybe someone here can shed some light on this annoyance.)
Hi there,
Recently I have been experiencing a strange problem with the M600. Communication helps me to connect to wifi. Everything is fine and I can do whatever I want, browse the net, file transfer via network etc. The problem comes when I exit the Communication Manager. I press the wifi icon to disable wifi, then I close the Communication manager. After this the system freezes! Nothing works including start menu. The only way out is soft reset. Because of this I have to reset my device 3-4 times a day! Very annoying. Any similar experience to anyone? Any cure? Or am I missing something?
Anyone? please. This is getting on my nerves now. I have to reset my device 4-5 times a day, probably more than this! Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
hi, sorry I havent been getting these issues! I know this sounds very Dell Tech support but what about a hard reset?
Hi,
I have almost the same prob:
If I close my comm manager with the upper right button in the screen my system freezes for about 4 seconds but after that everything is fine.
If I close the comm manager with the exit button in the lower left side of the screen the app closes immediatly without any freezes...
so try this and good luck

Hi, I took your advice and did a hard reset. Everything seemed to fine until today when it froze couple of times when communication manager was turned off I think some of the programmes which I installed may be inter acting with Comm, manager but I dont know which
comm manager is a buggy app... sit tight and wait for a fix from HTC.
I have a problem and I hope someone can help me.....
First of all I have been having problems when soft-resetting my MDA Vario. When soft-resetting my device, it freezes when starting up. I have the following programs installed:
Wisbar Advance 2
SBSH PocketBreeze
SBSH PocketWeather
Windows Live Messenger Beta
I haven't found out what is causing the problem, but everytime it freezes I have to hard-reset my device which is totally getting frustrating!!! Usually it takes me about an hour to reinstall everything again, sync my contacts, tweaks in my registry and so on.
Has anyone else been having this problem or knows what is causing it to do this???? I'm just reinstalled everything again and everything is running smooth again, but I'm afraid to soft-reset my device again because I'm afraid it will freeze again on startup. Furthermore, everytime I sync my device I have a pain in the royal to get my contacts back the way they are....
I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks in advance!!
Freezing
Try not re-installing one of them after your next hard-reset.
It it no longer freezes - you have the culprit.

I have a feeling that it's WLM that is causing the problems. I know I shouldn't have installed it, but once you use it your hooked! Going back to the old Pocket MSN is like trading in a Ferrari for a old Toyota Corolla... although the old Corolla is like old fateful and won't let you down, driving a Ferrari is like a dream!
Anyway.... I will try rebooting when I get home and see if I find out the problem. Have you had this problem too ? Or is it just me ? I've done some searching and it seems that others have the problem but haven't been able to pin point it.
I just hope I can uninstall the WLM beta off my device without hard-resetting it.....
One thing I noticed on my device is that when you boot it up and leave it alone it will crash, but if you touch the screen or press a button every 30 seconds or so it boots up fine.
Think it is something to do with the standby setting after x seconds, if thats disabled it boots up ok.
Thanks for your reply!
I reinstalled everything on my phone again... getting to be a real pain reinstalling everything. Anyway, my vario works fine now with WLM, that did seem to be the problem.
But, how did you manage to disable the standby setting ??? And how did you find it out??? Have you tested this enough to know that this is the cause?
Maybe there is a registry tweak that will help, can anyone say which adjustment is necessary in your registry???
So, I upgraded to the 1.48 ROM today, and after every soft reset, if I press the end key, and the device goes into standby the lock screen doesn't come on automatically. I need to long press, and then select it. However, after doing this once, it works all the time until I soft reset again.
Anyone else experiencing this? Just seems to be a little strange to me.

This is a long-standing issue, that can only be resolved with your suggested method. A few cabs/apps have been suggested to fix the problem, but I've not found one yet that actually works.
after a soft reset you have to block manually. Setings -> All Setings -> Block. After that will work automaticaly.

Weird. Thing is, this didn't happen with the 1.43 ROM =( Oh well. Guess I will have to live with it. I will try using S2U2 and see if that fixes it maybe. The 1.48 ROM does seem better in general, apart from this bug =(
Didn't happen with 1.43 - does happen with 1.48.
I found solution. Install BsB Tweaks from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5015406&postcount=1
then :
open program, turn off auto lock>close>soft reset>start BsB tweeks again> turn on Auto Lock> close> soft restet and VIOLA!

I did that myself, but I still get the problem reappear every now and then. It's no big deal to lock the phone manually once in a while.
I asked this self same question about 6 hours ago and just got barked at by some bizarre character for not using the search function!!
So here is my advice........... use the search function-apparently!! lol
Have a look at this thread. It works all the time for me. You can restart your phone as many time as you want and the lockscreen will still be there.
However, the problem will resurface if you disable/restart HTC Sense or messing around with wallpaper or stuff like that. Just apply the trick again and it will be working again.
Can somebody with the know how make a little program which litterally only performs one task: kills the process services.exe.
The reason for this is it is the cause of many soft resets in a day. Sometimes not even fixing the slowdown anyway and causing the famous black screen of death.
But as soon as i go to sktools and use the processes tool and kill the process phone goes back to being how it should! However because the phone goes into major slowdown it takes ages for the sktools processes program to load and then hard to select services from the list because of the lagging etc so it would be nice just to have a link that i could put on my quick links and when phone goes to melt down just press this magic button which saves the phone being hurled at a wall!
It needs to be called Meltdown Override or something!
This is a serious request as it would make HD2 use a much more pleasant experience!
Many thanks
This is pretty easy to do AFAIK...
If nobody else does it, I can do it when I have some more free time ...
I would appreciate this so much!
I think I may even use AEB to assign it to a long press of the back key or something
But, does services.exe auto-starts again? Because you could have some problems if you kill it and don't start it again...
Yer it does straight away but not running at 90% + CPU.
I find it unlikely that services.exe is really the culprit here, but rather a service installed on your phone that is misbehaving. If you find out which service is causing the problem, and then uninstall or disable it....

This guy is right...
Ive only just installed a new ROM voda UK 1.72 so I have next to no programs installed at the moment so I don't see what could cause it.
The main time this happens is when left charging over night and when you go to use it in the morning it's completely screwed. Soft reset doesnt fix it it just goes to black screen of death so then u have to take the battery cover off and reset again. The only thing i have found to get it to a useable state again is to kill process services.exe, and then its fine again. Once by doing that it stopped weather update and text messaging from working but atleast when i then did a soft reset things where still fine and those two things worked again and no laggy phone.
I kno it seems stupid to just kill a process and not find the problem but i cant see what the problem could be considering how recently i hard reset the phone (which i did 3 times in total to see if it got rid of the problem).
Just forget that ROM and go back to a working one? Seems easy to me... don't always need to have the latest or highest version number, just something that works... If 1.72 doesn't work for you, don't use it!
I would if it wasn't for the fact that after doing the annoying procedure in the morning of killing process "services.exe" then soft reseting, it runs the quickest i have ever been able to use the device on any ROM before it
You know that services.exe is one of the main parts of your phone-funcionality (calls, sms, etc.)?
As you said you experience it in most cases in the morning... Have u got GAlarm installed?
If yes --> Did you check the RegKey MidnightWakeup=True and change it to false?
My Girlfriends TD2 had the same issue. CPU usage by services.exe was often around 70-90% until i applied this change...
Services.exe is just like svchost on a windows-machine, it just hosts a bunch of services. So most likely its a service that has gone crazy.
