Is it possible to activate increasing ring AND vibrate at the same time? The phone option menu doesn't allow for that setting -- so maybe one can achieve that by editing the registry?
Hi
Yesm it's possible.
You'll find it in Blueangel's wiki tweaking section:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Hacks
It should work for Wizard too.
Have fun
thanks!
have already been experimenting with different scripts, just need to tweak it to fit my needs now -- but this is all the info i needed.

Hello,
I have a question. Maybe someone knows on this forum???
Where can I find the keys which change the speaker icon in the taskbar? Next tot the phone signal there is a speaker icon. It changes to vibrate and silence when selected. Which keys in the registry do this? How is this icon changed?
I kow it is possible, because some apps support this, but I can't find how to do!
Thanx for anyones help!
No one knows? Anyone should......
Where is this one switched in the registry? Which value changes???
Hope some can help!
Phone Profiles from JGUI can do.... So someone should know about this...
Help would be really appreciated, then developing can go on!!! With I hope an excellent product for everyone!
what makes you think that those programs use the registry to change icons or what ever it is you are talking about

Sorry, don't get your point exactly! I try to let the icon (volume icon) get changed programmaticaly, like it changes when changing the volume to vibrate or off.
I suspect that it is done bu the registry! Any other ideas? Anyone knows how this is done? Someone should know....
Are you actually wanting to mute the volume aswell ?
Try looking in HKey_Current_user\Control Panel\Volume (don't have a PPC here atm, so can't check)
Otherwise, I would export your registry, change the setting to vibrate manually, then export again. Copy both these to your PC and compare them.. there are many programs that can do this for you to make life easy
well maybe it's a function in the api / sdk / framework of the pocketpc phone edition
whats make you think it's set in the registry?

Well, that was the first thing that came to me. I saw it in the application of JGUI I stated above and though that it should be a registry value. I couldn't think of any SDK / Framework / API, because that would make it almost impossible to implement it like this.
The volume can be muted as well, but for now the muting volume and vibration is done already, but I am still looking for how to change the picture of the volume icon.
Rudegar, do you have any idea then???

The key you gave me indeed changes when setting some different volume settings. But I didn't find any key yet in that place which changes the picture I mentioned. Anyone?
Why could no one tell me about this? No developer has ever tried to hack this picture? Any ideas are welcome!
may lightning strike me down for posting a microsoft link here
but maybe the today screen is what you need to be able to edit to get what you want.
I'm not 100% sure, but it may point you in the right direction.

the registry has nothing to do with what you want to do.

What is doing the trick then? Why can't I manage to change these icons until now? Anyone??
those icons are located in one of the OS dlls. I believe that it's in the mfce300.dll Maybe you can change it creating a .mui for that dll but I'm not sure.
Hey guys,
I was wondering if you might give me some suggestion and comments about the application i just developed, well its my first ever developed app for smart device so i hope u don't mind. For HTC magicians only i guess unless other models have the same registry structure for the camera settings.
Features
-Save profiles
This application allows you to save settings and name it as profiles, thanks to kta and deuxani for providing some configs which i made as preset in the meantime.
-More camera settings
-and some more...
Just try it out
Known issues:
-Profile has no immediate effect
If any of u guys know how to make immediate effect after modifying registry please let me know, afaik i had to do a soft boot or just click on "reset" on the camera settings.
-Error if click 'Apply' on empty profile
Well, haven't put any exceptions handlers just yet, need to know more bugs first
Need comments about ease of use and user interface also bugs if u happen to find any. I try to make it as simple as i can. Thanks all.

Great!
Just installed it! Works fine!
Excellent, maybe a little addon after you select a profile directy start the camera ( this is the reason you start it )
Keep up the good work!
First Thanks on this Idea!!
Will test further and report back.
What do i wrong ? It doenst do anything for me except show me the frame rate ... :?
Thats what i meant by "immediate effect" which i haven't figure out yet, you must go to the camera settings and adjust and click on "reset" because I was able to change the registry for both settings (ie. Contrast and Contrast_User) but i think the camera needs something so it can "refreash" and get the values from the registry which also does on the ambience. I hope someone can figure this out..

great job adit
if you are looking for more advice about developing this plug-in.. I suggest to post this topic in the Development and Hacking forum.
keep up the good work
Nice job, and its working.
I've tried this app and i have a problem:
in the registry i have 2 values for each parameter (for example brightness and brightness user)
The software change the non user value but if i softreset my Magician user's values becomes default. I must open configuration and reset values and they becomes like the non user values.
Is there another solution?
I've also tryed to delete user keys but after a SR they are again.
Sorry for my english

The application changes both default and user (default ie brightness, and user ie brightness_user). I did this to make sure that even after a soft reset since the effect does not change immediately, the values are not changed. If you find it inconvenient, i'll rebuild the application so it changes only the xxx_user (ie xxx=brightness)? For the time being, if you want to reset the settings to the original state change all values in the non user to '5'.
I am new to this whole windows mobile stuff, on previous mobiles i have had i have always been able to easily switch between ring profiles (silent, loud, vibrate etc.) however i cant find a way of doing it on my O2 Mini S, am i missing something obvious?
Yeah, something fairly obvious..... the phone doesn't really have them.
You can choose silent, vibrate or ring though via clicking the speaker though. Click and choose off, vibrate etc...
Depends how many profiles you want!
Std (basic) usage:
Set ring tone in the sounds & notifications settings page
Adjust volume on LHS slider
Hold slider "down" to enter vibrate mode (and up to go back to normal)
Click the speaker (top of the windows display) to adjust the master & phone vol (not incall vol, that is adjusted by the slider whilest in a call)
Multi-profile way:
Get software, i use Pocket Zen Phone, but there are others.
Fight through the software config (PZP isn't the easiest to config! but seems good once setup)
I now have:
Sleep mode (quiet but changes to home mode in the morning at 9:30)
Sleep-work mode (as above but gets noisy at 4:45am so the alarm wakes me up for work @5)
Home mode: General mid settings
Work mode: Max vol so i hear it
I can also use windows to adjust in the short term, and simple re-sellect the profile i want to go back to my personal settings (ie a meeting at work i can make it go to vibrate then back to loud after)
yeah i did see that but its not really suitable, reason being i actually want the ring tones to change. The ring tones i use whilst not at work are very unsuitable to use whilst i am at work/meetings etc. Its a pain having to go and change this ring tone each time!
You can also quickly switch to vibrate by holding down the Communications key (left side at the top) and to switch back to ring you hold it down again. Another way is to move the volume slider on the left down and then back up.
Seem to recall using a program called Mortring for this sort of thing but that was a while back, don't know if it's WM5 compliant though.
try searching for Mortring over the site
thanks for the suggestions - i'll give them a try
Yes as somebody suggested PocketZenPhone is a good profile management software.
Also give PhoneAlarm a try. Though this profile management utility is still in Beta-2 phase but to me it looks more powerful than PocketZenPhone, in that it also offers Repeat Alarm function. For each of the 7 possible profiles you can set up a different ringtone. So maybe this addresses your requirement to be able to change ringtones with just a click.
Kind Regards
There is also a profiles management software that ships with the Eten M600
I wonder if anyone tryied to run that on the Wizard?

Check out PZP - change every setting for each profile from wifi/radio/BT to ring tone (for different alerts, ie ring, message, email, etc) auto-switch with outlook meetings etc.
As i said before, it IS a pain in the ass to config (IMO atleast) but once its set its pretty good (also a tip for config is to set the profiles basically on the pda and then edit the files on windows PC then copy back to pda - made my life much easier and also provides a 100% working and very quick backup for PZP as its far too easy to edit 1 setting and break another!)

i am going to try pzp, i'll let you know how i find it. thanks for your help.
i saw some tweak that should make button presses vibrate when using the dialpad. i am sure this would make dialing more secure and sure. i tried applying a registry tweak as well as a set of cab files "phonepadvibrate6", yet neither seem to work on my unlocked 8525. tried the tweaks here, http://mdatweak.com/tweak_detail.php?tweak=14 but still cannot seem to get mine to work. any ideas? a better cab? suggestions? i know it's a minor tweak, but one that i am sure would make dialing via dialpad easier. thanks!!
Hi all,
I've tried to search for this information, but got overwhelmed with too much unrelated results, so I'll risk being called 'dumb' and ask.
Is there a registry key where I can get/set the sound settings of the phone? In particular, I am aware of the HKCU/ControlPanel/Volume key, but could not find anything about the vibration settings.

Me too.. nid to tweak da vibration.. I nid da vibration not that strong.. n like ON, OFF, ON, OFF... dont continuosly.. feel like will make my WM6 spoil faster..
Check out Treo vibe, I think it's just what you guys are looking for.
Additional information
I'll try to be more clear.
I want to develop a rltoday/batteryStatus theme, and would like to replace the top bar. I would like to show the sound state of the phone, and already found the registry setting to read if the sound is on.
I need to also retrieve the vibration status: any registry key address to spare?
Ciao,
GioVAX
Do you mean the vibration setting for the ring tone?
The only one I know of is HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0 it will have a string like av2pwr or something like that, the v standing for vibrate.
I am not sure what device you are looking for, but here is the registry for hermes vib button reg.
HKLM\Software\OEM\Button\PhoneVibrateButton,0x00010001,1
