I recently lost most of the phone settings, including those where I was able to select the ringtones, any solutions?
In the phone application i can select Options, but only automatic pickup and broadcast channels appear...

Hi all
Can anyone help me here.....
When I get an SMS, the message pops up but no sound plays.
I have assigned "Alarm 1" to the "Messaging: new Text message" in settings, sounds & notifications. I have checked "play sound" and "display message on screen".
When I hit the play button in the sounds and notifications tab the alarm plays
Volume is set for the PDA
Thanks in advance
i need to know how to do this also
Figured this one out today!
Start - Settings - Sounds and Notification.
Select the "sounds" tab.
You must have the box next to "programs" checked and the box next to "Notifications (alarms, reminders)" as well.
If you didn't have this done, you may need to soft reset after doing it. Your master control for the PDA will also affect the sound level of your SMS message (not the phone volume).
good luck
Ok I did use the search.
The catch: I only want sounds for receiving sms, reminders and of course for the phone
The only way to do this is via preferences, enable system sounds etc.
With this enabled I got those nasty screen tab and conformation sounds. I tried to fool WM5 to use empty wav's. Reset the Wizard but the sounds still remain. Although they're empty!
Isn't there a reg tweak to disable the 'irritating' sounds?
Regards
on my xda mini s i can just disable the sounds for tapping on the screen and the softbuttons.
look under preferences, personel, sounds & notificatoins. (mine is in german so i donĀ“t quite now what the tabs are called but it should be in there)

When I go to start, settings, personal, sounds and messages, I tick the Programs and under that the Messages. After that when ik go to start I have that irritating sound. Sot that's not the solution.
Hello there!
I need the ability to change profiles between my free time and my work time. I tried phonealarm and while I liked it, it didn't seem to want to talk to the notifications for Windows Mobile properly.
When I had it set for my 'home' profile, I had my email notification set up to play a sound AND vibrate. However, if I was just checking the windows notification settings, it would totally eliminate my selections.
Does anyone recommend a good profile software? I need something that's going to be able to switch from a regular home profile to a custom, silent yet vibrating profile for work....
You can try DontForget. There is just Smartphone version, which you can try but the real PocketPC version will be availbale soon.

Hello everybody,
I recently flashed my Qtek 8310 (Tornado) to WM6.1 Standard.
Whenever I loose wifi connection it gives an annoying audio notification.
I've disabled exclamations, questions and warnings in sound setup but the beep is still there.
Anyone know how to disable it?
Thanks
Ms Vibe
It may be dependant on the ROM you are running, but I have the option in the "Sounds and Notifications" control panel in the "Notifications" section. Find it in the pull down menu: "Wireless Network Detected"
I used this:
"Update June 18 2008 - New WM6.1 Standard ROM from XDA-Developers, made by illi & rickywatt
Download link - http://karhoe.net/myfiles/illi_WM6.1_remade_by_rickwyatt_v2a.zip"
I then installed the connection manager HTC Connan IR+WIFI+VOIP from the Extras.zip Nitros posted.
In Settings -> Sounds I don't have anything about wifi. I don't have a "Sounds and Notifications" menu either.
In Settings -> Connections -> WLAN Settings -> Wifi Networks -> Menu -> Advanced I switched off "Available Network Notification" but that seems to be only about visual notification.
Maybe there is a reg. hack for this?
Which ROM version are you on yourself?
/Ms Vibe
Sorry, I'm using a PPC (T-Mo Wing). I'll look through the registry, perhaps I can find something else. You might try posting in the groups for your phone.
So you're trying to disable an audible notification? <-------- Nevermind... I forgot you already said that.
I wonder if perhaps you have that control panel, but no link to it... might be worth looking into, because if it is indeed present you could still launch it via a shortcut.
Yep, that's right. Thanks for your time.
I have to get some sleep now, but I will dig further tomorrow.

I have this same problem with the recent version of RickyWatt's ROM (not sure if it's specific to his). If I turn on Wifi and let the phone rest for even 30 seconds, it gives a loud beep as if Wifi has gone to sleep (it reconnects when I interact with the phone).
I can't seem to find any corresponding notification for that. I'm considering turning off all notifications because of it.
The notification checkbox switch in "Menu-Advanced" in WiFi settings won't work (I tested different systems). The menu option "Don't show this message again" that is available upon notification's delivery won't work either.
I guess this is the 931,528,149,367,652th bug in WM6.
The only solution is to let the notification to be processed, and set a quiet notification action to be associated with it:
1) Open Menu>Settings>Personal>Sounds&Notifications>Notifications
2) In the events' selector, choose "Wireless LAN detected"
3) Make sure that both the "Show message on screen" and "Switch screen on" options are unselected, BUT SELECT AT LEAST ONE OTHER NOTIFICATION ACTION: IF YOU LEAVE ALL OPTIONS BLANK, THE DEFAULT NOTIFICATION WILL STILL BE PERFORMED. I recommend setting the vibration as the only action.
4) Close options' mask
With these settings, your machine will still vibrate when a WiFI-LAN is detected, but at least it will stay quiet and no annoying messages will pile up in the pipeline of notifications.
At the same time, the networks for which you may have set up an automatic connection will simply hook up as soon as they get detected.
