How do you perform a hard-reset on the Vogue without actually using the software on the device? Is there a button combination that will hard-reset it because I installed batterystatus and for whatever reason, it is completely locked up and will not even load completely on boot up.
Thanks guys.
EDIT:: Nevermind. I figured it out. Thanks anyways
Hold down the SEND and END keys while inserting your stylus into the Gatesanus (that would be the re-set hole). When the screen comes up just follow the on-screen instructions...
EDIT: Sorry, I missed your edit first time around. But at least I got to say "Gatesanus".

Haha thanks man. Funny by the way. lol
I had the same thing happen to me. It says on battery status home site that if that happens reset like 9-11 times and it will start up. I could not reset so I would pull out the battery, let it load freeze then pull battery again. I did this about 9 times and It finally started with battery status not turned on and I uninstalled without having to do hard reset and lose all info on device. On a side note battery plus is a good program that does run on the vogue.
Hi!
I have a QTek S200 that had it's speaker dead and the power button was stuck. The stuck power button means that no matter when or how I pressed it NOTHING HAPPENED but sometimes randomly (when I was nowhere near the button) an "Are you sure you want to shutdown?" dialog appeared like I had the button pressed.
I sent the phone to service and they changed the speaker and told me that the button requires a motherboard change and it costs somewhere around $500. That was obviously too much money so I told them to send it back like that.
My phone arrived and the power button was working perfectly (so far as I know they did nothing about it) for a few months. Then again the power button died and started behaving the same way (this time there was no problem with the speaker).
I'm using a custom ROM but I also tried with the original I backed up after I got the phone, but seems the problem is not in the software. Anyone has any idea what can cause this and if it's possible to fix it?

It's almost certainly hardware. If you feel like opening up your Prophet, you could check whether the power button is connected correctly...
$500 seems way too much given that it's possible to get a device for less than that!

Is the button on the case connected properly? It may be pushing in constantly rather than being where it should be.

The Touch Pro will be good!
You could possibly try removing the power button connections all together, and see if that rectifies the problem... So you wouldn't be able to turn it off, but there is software to do that!

This is a very good idea indeed! I only wonder what about the screen? I can't really remember if you can turn on your screen with the other keys when it's off (I used to open/close my SD card slot to bring the screen to life when I was stuck with the phone)?
You can change the lock settings for keys (so that other keys can wake up the device) in Start->Settings->System (tab) and the "Power" option (I think).

Good luck with that!
one thing i forgot to mention with this was that my batter usage was INSANE when the power button is in "stuck mode".. on idle the phone goes dead in cca 72 hours..
when it first came back with the fixed speaker (and button) the battery issue was gone.. but now the button is stuck again the power issue is back!

I was trying to drill the back door to make a small opening to the soft reset button. I succeeded, but sadly i drilled a little dipper so I crushed the reset button. However, The phone still works and every thing is good. The real problem is that i can't use the reset button anymore because when I push it, it keeps the phone restarting until I use a needle to pull the button up. Do you have an idea how to fix this? any good repair shop in USA? what parts do I need? what's the estimate repair cost? Thanks

can you see the pic?
I'm sorry, but I'm not aware of anyway to fix this apart from sending it back to HTC or to a repair shop (don't know any in USA). However, you realise that there is software for resetting the device like XDAShutdown etc

Thank you fr the reply.
I already have the soft reset application but you know sometimes the phone hangs up and never respond until the you push the reset button or remove the battery. I contacted HTC U.S and they say it would cost from 110-315 USD. That's too much for a button. Just if i could find the part, i think i can fix it myself. If any one has any idea to find a replacement for the red reset button, please let me know.
Thanks

I would just leave it how it is and pop the battery out and back in to reset it.
How often does your phone hang anyways? I have had mine for a year and used that button once.

without adding insult to injury, the wise thing would of been to mark where the reset button was on the back cover, then take the cover off before drilling through it lol

Spartan you gotta admit tho in terms of design, the volume keys being connected to the case and the reset button being hidden behind the case, the HD is on of the worst designed HTC devices ive had, sometimes ive spent 5 mins trying to get into bootloader or hard reset using my finger nails to try n hold the volume keys down while trying to push the reset button with the stylus in my mouth lmao

100% agree with you.....funny thing is HTC mustn't actually use their own devices for everyday use or they would have known this as well and changed their design on the HD2 which is unfortunately designed exactly the same as the HD
The HTC guys probably don't put a new rom on their devices every 2 minutes ^^

You'r right. I was using a manual little drill. I marked a gel case and start drilling the case. I thought would stop once I mark the back cover, but it was too thin that I didn't notice that I have gone through the back cover until the device restarted. Maybe, had not the device restarted I would not have stopped until I reached the other way>>>>>>>>>>> LOOOL
Thank you all guys for the replies.
It appears that you expanded the rubber button when you drilled into it. I would use small tweezers and pull it up a little and see if you can grab any small bits of rubber on the sides that might get caught in the hole when you push it down. It should be an easy fix. GL and Hindsight is a bit*h
Hi, could you please help. I installed the banana game then realised that the game wasn't compatible with HD2 as the game was showin g only on 3/4 of the screen and thye sense was unstable. I removed the app and the device switched offf. Sinced the I haven't been able to turn it on all i get is the initial black screen wity the pink ring. It won't resen using up down method and task 29 wont work as it is unable to connect. can anyone help....
what "up down method" its not up then down lol if you want to hard reset turn youre phone off press and hold up and down volume buttons and turn the phone on you should get a grey screen then follow instructions, and task 29 will work if you can get in bootloader but why would you want to wipe the mobile if you dont no what you doing?
and the banana game doesnt really give us much insight does it lol

Hi Demon,
I am glad you find this funny but here I am in tears re: the situation. I meant vol up and down for hard reset but its not working bfore turn on. I chose the task 29 as I am desperate and willing to reset to default setting. I did try vol up and down before turning on my mobile and still not working. See below url for the game downloaded but I didn't downloaded from this site I used the omarket. thanks

what do you mean RGD screen, can you post a pic if you have a camera
try taking the battery cover off, and then press the vol up and vol down together, carefully. Make sure you feel the contact as you press it. I struggled at the beginning to make it wiork. the button isn't really meant to bend at both ends, so it feels like you have them both pressed, but dont.
Once you are confident that both ends are pressed, only then tap and release power to start the phone.
ALl being well, 5 or so seconds later the three coloured screen should come up.
Fingers x'd

I tried again and you are right just a tap on the power as before i think i was pressing too hard on the power button ....now I have a gray screen with the following:
This operation will delete all your personal data ......
What should I do now to avoid losing all data...
Thanks
ok, now dont take this the wrong way mate because everyone has done this, but you must be doing it wrong or not catching the buttons right, if you have someone with you, you're easiest option would be turn your phone on as normal take your battery cover off, press and hold both volume buttons and keep holding them, get someone to press the red button near the batter with a pin, that way you have hold of both volume buttons, keep holding them while the phone is restarting and you should get a different screen come up,
like i said its quite tricky to get it the first time.
you cant not loose anything this is youre only option im affriad, but youre phone will work again

hehe, its a bit of a three handed job. I usualy use a thumb on each vol button, and my top lip to press power, lol.
I think sadly your data is gone. I can't think of a way to save it if the phone wont boot.
Plus, if this banana thing did mess your phone up, you want to be sure its gone.
(A good lesson in syncing your data regularly )
If the hard reset doesn't work, then my next steps would be to task29 from bootloader (volume down and power, dont touch vol up) followed by flashing your stock rom over usb.

hi just wondering can you conect the phone via usb to pc does the pc read you r phone ?
Hi there,
i have search but can't find anything
A friend of mine just gave me HD2 and i was super excited about it.
The phone wasn't used for ages so i plugged it for 10 minutes and while plugged i tried to turn it on.
the phone started to vibrated continiously without displaying anything.
I removed the battery, unplug power, inserted battery again and it just vibrates like nuts
Once out of 5 (roughly) it flashes... the flash and then vibrates... again nonstop
once out of 10 (roughly again) it just doesn't do anything at all.
even when plugged to the power, no led or nothing.
did i get a dead beast ?
I tried, holding buttons, pressing reset button, etc but with no luck...
hope you guys could help me... many thanks in advance
Check the battery pins on the HD2 and make sure that non of them are bent slightly or anything like that. A slightly bent battery pin can cause the HD2 to do some crazy things. If non of the battery pins are bent then you might just have a bad NAND chip and the only fix for that is a new main board.
Nice bike in your avatar pic too by the way.
just checked them all out and they are well aligned and don't seem to have been touch
that sucks
Cheers for my ride i like it too ^^

Dang man that does suck, I hate to tell you, "Yeah it probably needs a new main board.", and then someone else come up with another idea. But I do think that is going to be your fix. i say this cause if it was bricked it would more than likely vibrate one brief burst and that would be it, nothing else. but the steady vibration sounds more like a bad component on the main board. Sorry friend that is my opinion. Maybe I am wrong though.
something new happened this morning
I left the phone without battery all night and put the battery in when i got up.
the screen displayed the following message.

I couldn't do anything from that point so i pressed the reset button... (didn't want to remove the battery)

keep the volume down button pressed then swutch on your phone ...if you go into a tri colour screen ..then you might be in some luck ....then you have to go to the official htc site and download a rom update from there ..and flash it ....

Yep it sounds like a bad NAND chip. My guess is it has bad blocks that is keeping it from booting and the steady vibration is being caused by the same. Again just my opinion. I say this because it said, "/!\ Software update failed. Please Try again.", this is common in cases when the NAND went bad.
