Pocket Hack Master & running the Universal @ 624 Mhz - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Pocket Hack Master runs the Jasjar version of the HTC Universal @ 624 Mhz with no apparent problems. It passes the stress test at this setting and runs video at this setting. I've noticed that when running video, Pocket Hack Master's processor use utility doesn't completely max out when the processor speed is set @ 624 Mhx and that (as others have noted) running video slower than 624 Mhz results in noticeable frame rate slowness.
Since it's only rated to run @ 520 Mhz, I'm wondering if running it @ 624 Mhz will shorten the processor life or cause more serious problems. The only definitive way to know would be to run long-term on the Universal @ 624 Mhz.
Can anything think of a way besides running a long-term test to determine if damage is being done to the Uni's processor by running it @ 624 Mhz?

I too am interested in this. What do people advise running at, at most?

PS: On my Xda Exec it fails the 624 test each time, only 520 works.

I also have the same problem - it fails the 620mhz test

mine freezes @ 624, ocasionally. Not very usable, and quite annoying. I do see the difference in performance, but it crashes too often to be true
Tried Latest XCPUSCALAR my screen goes mad, and crazy, also unusable. UNFORTUNATELY

Hmm weird, my XDA Exec runs just fine a 624 MHz in Pocket Hack Master wonder why some people are having problems...

Yeah mine has been fine @624 for two days no glitches at all mines a T-Mobile MDA Pro

mine is now approaching 3 weeks at this speed and its fine !!! TBH the CPU will be running a little warmer, because you are asking more of it !! but its not as if you are putting extra voltage into it or anything so the chances of it blowing or miniscule !! if it gets unhappy it will just lock up. any here are the settings I used in PHM
I left all the timings of every thing as normal but pushed the multiplier up 1 more to 624 MHZ if I try 2 more (728 MHZ) it crashes before it even begins the burn in stability test  suffice to say all the timings are identical to a genuine intel 624 MHZ CPU
Using Anton Tomov's pocket hackmaster version 2005
L = 16
N = 06
A = 01
Turbo enabled
half turbo disabled (dunno what the point of a half turbo is, it just seems to halve CPU speed)
LCD_26 = 00 (dunno what this does but seems to have no effect)
Fast Bus enabled
after adding it dont forget to set as favourite and then you can enable the speed
using the above settings should give you this
CPU = 624
BUS = 208
RAM = 104
LCD = 104
Turbo enabled
SI (speed index) now 373 up from 341
MIPS (millions of instructions per second) now 261 up from 217
Memory (even though I did not overclock the memory bus) now 486 up from 465
as stated 1 more step to 728 MHZ is a no go, and if you try to decrease the bus speed and up the multiplier to get speeds in-between 624 and 728, it starts suffering from bottlenecking and is not worth it if you look at the actual stats of data rate (MIPS memory etc) despite the higher figure of CPU MHZ its actually running slower the other drawback to strange bus speeds is that screen begins to flicker

guys I apologise in advance for my dumb question : but where do I get the Pocket Hack Master;
or in fact where is a good source for progs and utilities for WM5 (I am new to this OS and platform) ???
I would appreciate your help and any directions!

Ahh..Overclocking of Intel PXA 263 is possible to 1GHz!!! Cool no? lol
only that don't think Ram will support the bus clock.
Post your comments guyz!
the flash in a pda is not something which speed is controlled by a devider like in a pc
your flash are in general 100times slower then sdram
it's one of the main bottlenecks of pda's
the access speed of a storage card like sd is 100times worse
people sometimes report odd issues when overclocking
and ones batt get chu'd up 100times faster
personaly i dident notice any speed difference between my xda1 200 and xda2 400 but then the sd interface of xda1 is much faster anyway
overclocking is ok on pc where you get gaming speed and maybe a bit of application speed but on pda's it's silly if you ask me
but then for some people overclocking is more of a hobby and the path to the goal and reaching the goal itself is more important for them then the price received at the goal
once saw a guy looking for a tool which he said would let him overclock his 7200rpm harddisk to 10K
heh

download xpu scalar (speed up ur ppc to 530 mhz) for free

try this to speed up your pocket pc, good programs , try for xda II at 530 mhz
I would have prefered you post all the warnings of using such utlity ... for some unexperienced users this could permanently damage their devices.
For all folks here ... pay all attention to the heat while working on high speeds ... and don't ever try ROM flashing on any speed but the default one (206 for XDA and 400 for XDA II)
Ive been running Gameboy Advance and SNES roms, using XPU scalar @ 530Mhz for hours and hours. The device gets VERY hot after 5 hours, but it still fights on without a restart...
Although, ive tried other clocking apps @ 600mhz and then it got so hot it restarted itself...
I use Pocket Hack Master and have had my device up to 1689Mhz without any ill effects, though this is apparently unusually quick for an XdaII - the SDRAM usually can't handle 147MHz.
With PHM, mine scales between 399MHz and 589MHz depending purely on load, I've been using it for about three months with no apparent problems.
I tried it on i-mate ... the device is frozen if I use 530 MHz
Mine runs fine at 530 and 473... I even did a benchmark in BetaPlayer; huge improvement at 530; however, I decided to back it off to 400 to save on batteries.

Probably the SDRAM can't handle the 133MHz - it's the first thing that usually falls over. You could put the multiplier down to 1/2x from 1x and it would probably work but that would mean your RAM was only running at 66MHz.
ok i must be real tired...
how the heck do you install this program from those files??
Questions :
- At 472 MHz as well as at 530 MHz, the memory is underclocked (50 - 66 MHz). I ask if it would be possible to maintain the memory around 100 MHz (+/- 10 MHz) during the overclock.
- Does the XScale CPU have the frequency fixed at 400 MHz ? Intel didn't think to dinamical frequence switch ? (like in Centrino or P4M) ? Because if not, then this software would allow battery economy. But it's weird, Intel wasn't able to do the same thing ???
With PHM you can choose whether to 1/2x or 1x clock the SDRAM and the LCD. I use 1x, so when I'm running the CPU at 590, the memory is running at 147MHz, most Xda II's won't handle this but it appears I was really lucky and got very good RAM in mine.

Are you sure in underclocked? I am sure the memory clock is set to standard freq. with all the benefits, like stability and faster processor clock (472-530)
You can verify it downloading other Overclocking applications, like made from Mamaich.
I verify with CPUID, it shows all PDA frequencies. I can post screenshots, at 530 MHz, the memory runs in 66 MHz.
That's why I posted my question.
err..so whats the best setting when using the XCPUScaler?
And how come cannot access settings for over 500Mhz? Mine goes up to 475only
In Option select 'show frequencies over 500mhz'

Use Mamaich Overclock program with:
L 27
M 4
N 1,5
You will obtain SDRAM and MEM LCD 100mhz,CPU 597mhz PXBUS 199mhz
I've Benchmarked it with GX BenchMark with no good results.
So,best performance for gaming you will obtain on 530Mhz

Done that.
But at 530 MHz, my memory cames down to 66 MHz thus not 133 MHz, I think it doesn't support anything above 100-105 MHz.
Now I want to benchmark myself , I'll try to find GX Benchmark.
I only regret the downclocking function of CPUScalar, that saves battery (can somebody confirm ?)

Could you tell me how to install even I copied all the files to my XDA2 .[/quote]
After many hard-resets,installation of system files and progrs..
I can finally assure that CALLER-ID program seriously give conflicts on overclocked Cpu frequencies, more than 472Mhz..(like 530,ecc..)
And drains more battery power.
Just let you know..
Now is your choice..
To tell u the truth, i use xCPUScalar for a month in advanced mode:
0-15% - 300
16-40% -400
41-70% -472
71 -100 -530 and have no problems at all.
BTW - CallerID is a very uncertain subj by itself.
i also use xCPUScalar for a month in advanced mode:
0-15% - 200
16-40% -400
41-70% -400
71 -100 -472 and have no problems at all.
But I don't see where I can get over the 472 limit??
I have a XDA (QTEK 2020) with a 400MHZ chip.
I see you guys talking about 500 and more sometime???
and this is possible, where XCPUScalar indicate 472 MAX ?
Thank you
PS: OK I get it, I just forget to enable the "show frequency over 500MHZ"
Now I see 530MHZ.
Juste hope it's fine like this.

is qtek 9100 faster then qtek s100?

thanx
no way. s100's processor is 412 Mhz, and 9100's processor is officially 195, but actually is 185. so, s100 is twice as fast as 9100 :!:
U have to remember that the 9100 is a dual core processor.
so?
Mhz does not usually mean faster. Take Intel and AMD for example. Even though Intel has higher clock speed, it is not faster than AMD.
Just to drive that point home, at work a client started an unofficial benchmarking of systems, and results include
- an AMD Athlon64 3000+ at 2GHz, single core, single CPU... let's say this machine's speed is '1'
- an Intel Core Duo T2400 at 1.83GHz, dual core, single CPU... it's almost 2.5 times as fast.
That said, the OMAP may be dual core, but it's not 'dual core' like desktop/notebook processors. The two cores each specialize in different parts. You might notice that, for example, it's easier to multitask on these chips - while video playback won't see any performance boost and is likely to be slower.
Depending on your needs, your mileage may vary.
Omap 850 go 195 Mhz because it's downgraded by HTC for safety reason (they reply me like that) Processor is only 200 Mhz but for radio is performed by another chip.... i have both and Wizard isn't speed as Magician.
I find Sony Ericsson P900 at 153mhz to be much faster and responsive than any XDA. Although that's probably more to do with Microsoft's sketchy OS than the processor.
I think the Wizard overclocked to 264mhz is much fater at moving around the OS than a BlueAngel at 400mhz, but like someone said above, it's not so good at video playback.
re
in this case, my CPU is set to - 264MHZ are there any problems
to stay on this MHZs /battery, cpu lifetime, errors and accidental
shut downs/ ?
To compare use benchmarks (TCPMP for example)

Hi most people find it more stable at 240Mhz omapclock speed (260Mhz true as measured by sktools) but if it is stable for you - thats cool.
Hey guys this old x-scale vs omap thing has been bashed out numerous times!! Please for our sanity no more!! Anyhow looks like x-scale is being dropped by intel.
Hi,
I have seen benchmarks on this site, but I dont know in what topic.
In summary, the wizard is almost twice as fast as the magician, and the xda executer is twice as fast as the wizard, I have seen those benchmarks but I dont have the link. Also my wizard proves day after day that it is not slow at all, any game or CPU intensive program runs smoothly just the way you like.
So, dont be misled by the frequency measure, it is unfair to compare two different architectures only with regard to clock speed only, even a small improvement in the cache technology, or the pipeline design could bring massive performance advantages to the system's processor performance.
Regards,
Mohammad
no, the wizard is slower than the magician. i have both so i know. one thing is the processor even though it is dual core (one for pda, one for phone). the other reason is the way the os manages memory, with wm5 using persistent storage rather than having things ready on ram. this is running both without overclock that is.
This is not neccesserly true, maybe wm2003 OS is much lighter than WM5, its like comparing two identical desktop computers one is running windows 95, the other is running windows2000 and claiming that the one that runs windows 95 is faster. From my point of view (as a computer engineer) Benchmarking is the only trustful way to tell.
Another thing is that dual coring the processor has removed the overhead of managing the phone hardware by the main core, and this is definitely an advantage!!!
Another plus for the OMAP processor is that it consumes less power, and we all know that the most important resource for handheld devices is power, afterall, if you want to compare the actual CPU speed you have to run benchmarks on both devices, regardless of how the magician seems to be faster.
So lets search for benchmarks and put what we get here.

I found the benchmarks, enjoy!!

X1 RAM is slow?

I've run benchmark from SKTools, and it stated X1's RAM performance as far below Diamond, and I've noticed that my X1 ix indeed can be considered slow when running a lot of programs while it still have more than 50% more RAM; I've seen the CPU usage and it wasn't really stressed out.
So my conclusion is that X1 RAM is somewhat slow (mean : RAM speed, and timings -if you're familiar to the world of overclocking and such)
anybody else noticed?

I would be quite skeptical of these results, HTC Diamond, Touch Pro and HD have nearly the same hardware components as X1. They have exactly the same CPU and I wouldn't mind to bet that they have the same (or similar) memory chip.
Maybe more benchmarks should be done by other users of both devices just in case.

I think it depends on what your phone is up to when you run it.
These are my Xperia results.
2nd fastest integer cpu results (323.57)
HTC Touch Diamond (331.11) with the Qualcomm MSM7201A CPU
RAM speed was actaully a lot faster than the Touch Diamond
Xperia X1 (1493)
Samsung Omnia (868)
HTC Touch Diamond (472)
In most of the other tests the Xperia scores very well.
Try a soft reset and benchmark it again maybe ?
Did you also notice SKTools shows CPU Clock speed of 400000000 or 400MHz !
Not sure if thats because the CPU is not running at full speed when its at low CPU utilitization or its been clock speed reduced to help with battery life like the iPhones.

hmmm you're right, I re test it again and now it's just a bit slower than yours, there has been some inconsistency it seemed.
interesting.... HomeScreen PlusPlus ALSO reports 400 MHz..... i think Device Information under Start --> Settings is only showing the SPECIFICATION that it's 528 MHz but I'm pretty sure it's underclocked to 400 MHz.
Same for me: 400 mhz. We need to find a program to overclock the device.

Maybe I am wrong but I think these devices have dinamic CPU speed. So probably 400 Mhz is the "normal" speed but it goes up to 528 only when "is needed". In the same way It goest down to 200 Mhz in standby

I was curious about how application utilize my Note capability, so I install CPU spy and reset timer. After that I played Mass Effect Infiltrator and Anomaly for 30 minutes. What make me very surprise is most of the time (almost 50%) Android is running on 500 Mhz. Only 20% of the time running on 800 Mhz and 30% running on 200 Mhz. My whole life is a lie ! Let alone GPU which I underclock to 200 Mhz, Why Samsung bother market dual-core 1,2 Ghz or even Quad-core 1,4 Ghz while HD 2012 Games only need dual-core 500 Mhz to run It smoothly. Is there any apps (beside benchmark) that fully utilize my Note ? Thank you.
Lol you should thank the developers of that game that they optimized code to run at 500mhz. If they made it use more your battery would drain more.
Youre thinking is different, its the game, not the phone that underutilizes lmao

developers are trying their best to develop games, apps that are beneficial to users like us..
Now u are complaining that game run on less memory n RAM..
on the other hand if the game would to ultilise high RAM, high batt comsumption or high memory usage, wat will b ur stand?
If u reali think u had under ultilisrd ur Note, mayb u should sit down and think whether to sell it n get a phone that u can "fully ultilise" it
There Are Multiple Possinilities Actually

I think its a good, I've underclocked my note to 1000 MHz and haven't notcied any difference in performance at all even during gameplay, saves loads of battery aswell. Might even drop it too 800 mhz to see if I can get away with that.
