hey guys, have got all of me web,wap settings for my XDA2 but messenger will not connect. can some one give me some pointers or settings? thanks
No, it wont
O2 BLOCK all but http access, you have to fiddle port 8080 to get http working most of the time.
If you get msn working, you will make millions of o2 payg users happy, because it just doesnt, via any means so far.
best workaround I found was emessenger, because it's HTTP based.
ill find away round it,i can crack software so i can crack this
icq,msn,aol,yahoo
if it's any help to you guys i use Agile messenger
it has icq,msn,aol,yahoo
http://www.agilemobile.com/agile_messenger.html
yahoo even has a file sending option

patch the connection loop to NOP?
HTTP Tunnel
Is there not an HTTP tunnel client that will work on the pocket PC? I remember they used to block MSN on the uni network but HTTP Tunnel got round it.

Dude!!! GOOO for it what are you waiting for!!!
ok, here's the generalised simplicity of it;
to connect to MSN using a proper client, then basically, you need support for HTTP CONNECT method, if it isn't supported, then there's little you can do other than use webpage access.
so you can patch opcodes... huzzah, it just doesn't work like that.

My xda works fine when accessing the Internet via proxy server / VPN through my corporate LAN, but somehow ICQ / MSN messenger can never get connected. Any config I need to re-adjust?
ThanX in advance.
I don't think it's something you can sort out, unless you have access to the corporate LAN's firewalls or routers. I can get ICQ working through ActiveSync on my home LAN with no problem, but not MSN. I suspect it's a port configuration problem on my router, but I'm not sure. I don't know enough about MSN's protocols to know...
I may be wrong with all this, but I hope it helps anyway!

Sometimes I hear about a sort of proxy tunneling that can be usefull to resolve this problem. Dont ask me how
Anyone an idea how they do that?
Yeah this used to be the case. Users can now log into msn without downloading any programs, eg proxycap, which is a tunneling prog i think.

you know any tunneling program ???
together with another member of ppcweltcommunity i ported desproxy...let me see if i can dig it up today..
Yes..proxycap is the program. However like i said you dont need it no more to connect to Msn Messenger and the internet can be cofiigured for proxy anyway. YOU CAN LOG INTO MSN WITHOUT PROXYCAP OR ANY PROGRAMA BY LINKING IT TO YOUR LAPTOP/PC.

No it doesnt work here (Orange Netherlands wap-flatrate gprs)
well I did a search and didn't find out exactly what I wanted so I'll ask it. I think I know the answer but wanted to make sure.
I have have the $5.99 t-mobileweb plan on my MDA using the proxy. After the May 9th patch, obviously only basic ports are allowed now. I can still use the OZ IM that came on the MDA but the MSN Messenger will not connect. I assume this is because it uses full data (as opposed to SMS with OZ) and it uses a non standard port. Is there any way around this without upgrading my plan? Is there possibly another MSN or IM application that uses SMS only or that the ports can be changed on how they connect?
You're doing good if you can even get anything to connect. I cant even get to the t-zones. ie just says opening and then it sticks there after I click the t-zone link. Eventually it comes up with a pop up box that says that it lost the connection, to try again later.
Nevermind, fixed that using the proxy settings. I don't know what to tell you about your MSN messenger though. You'd think they would still allow that connection. You might try IM+ it has msn built in and has a free trial.

I still have the AIM 2.0 for Mobile - however, it is too large to attach here, so, if you want, PM me your email address and I will send it to you. It is the free English UK AIM for Mobile 2.0 if that is what you're looking for. It connects using your active internet connection.
I just wonder if another Messenger application wouldn't be better? Such as IM++ or Agile Messenger?
You can get it off their website or check my signature for alternatives (such as Slick, Jivetalk, etc).
Yeah it is as easy as re-downloading it from AIM.com

Can any one help
I have the best phone in the world and I cannot get Fishtext to work. Keeping on saying cannot connect. Check GPRS SETTING.
I have tried everything
Please help
do other programs work ok over gprs? can you surf the web? (turn off 3g to test )
FISHTEXT
Yes. I can do everything. Internet, skype, straming music.. You name it I can do it.. FISHTEXT. no..
does fish text require you to connect to a special server?
have you emailed fish text support? more likely to get an answer from them than from here.
Ip address
IT does connect to a special IP address. I have thought it my be the JAVA???
I have tried the support. Not very good at all.
just been to their site and they have a special page just for people with gprs problems. did you look through that?(it also means that chances are it isn't the phone at fault)
http://www.fishtext.com/GPRS/
hmmm sorry don't think I can help then. I get free texts in my contract so I've never used a service like fish text. sorry.
