Calendar / birthday help

Is there an easy way to enter someone's birthday date? Currently I have to scroll back through the years (cause default date is today) until I reach the date I'm after. Another thing is that when I do this from my ppc, I can't seem to be able to set an alarm, but the option's there in outlook. Finally, is there a way to search the calendar, was trying to find a certain apointment the other day, but couldn't remember the date so had to scroll through loads of days to find it. Thanks.
Entering a birthdate is as easy as editing the contact and in the field: Birthdate just enter the day month and year...
I am sorry, but the second thing: Searching for dates. I can't help you with that!

calendar one hour out

apologies if this has already been answered somewhere.. if so could you please direct me to the answer.
i recently upgraded and got wm 2005. i'm running pocketbreeze on the today screen and i'm having a problem with appointments being one hour out. if i go to the calendar and make the appointment 8-9, it comes up as 9-10 in pocketbreeze.
however its not quite as simple as that.. there are SOME appointments (i *think* they're the ones i've made in outlook) that appear at the CORRECT time. although, they happen to have moved back one hour. IE, one appointment i had went from 7-8.30, it moved back to 6-7.30, but said 6-7.30 in BOTH pocketbreeze AND the calendar.
to confuse matters more, i *think* (i'm at work right now so i'm not 100% sure) that the times that are showing in pocketbreeze are the same times that are showing in outlook.
SO - this is basically it: any appointments i make in the calendar on the phone appear in pocketbreeze and outlook one hour early. appointments i make in outlook appear correct in all 3.
i've double checked the regional settings and both my phone and computer are set to the same place. can anyone shed any light on this odd issue?
You are certainly not alone. I've seen this reported on this board a few times. I do not recall the solution but perhaps you can try a few searches perhaps using advanced options on things like synchronisation time etc.
I do remember various theories about this but not one that came to a definitive conclusion. One for example was that the phone company was sending auto sync info of the wrong time zone for the area (ie not wrong time just zone). This seemed to be most reported in parts of Australia it might help to search on some of the time zone abbreviations.

hi mike - thanks for your help. i ended up finding something on whirlpool.net.au
for anyone else with this problem (i think its specific to my phone, jasjam, and my carrier, telstra) the solution was:
Go to Start, Settings, Phone.
Scroll right until you get to the time zone tab on the bottom.
Uncheck the “Automatic change time zone and clock.” Option
Then go to the today screen and select the time.
Change the time up a couple of hours and press ok and Yes to save the time.
Go back and fix the Time and Time Zone to correct setting,
Again press ok and yes to save the time, this will commit this to the ROM and fix the time settings.

Thank you benzothegreat for providing this feedback and summarising the conclusion, cheers.

This works!!!
I have a T-Wing, WM6 and I was having the same problem, the reminders for bdays showing up one day earlier..and noticed that the issue was only for dates were the DST applied . I'm not that concerned about outlook showing duplicate bday reminders , but I do care about showing them on the wrong date..... long story short.. here is the fix:
1. Goto http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E343A233-B9C8-4652-9DD8-AE0F1AF62568&displaylang=en and download the Microsoft Office Outlook Tool: Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook
2. Follow instructions and install.
3. After instalation completed, goto start -> all programs -> Microsoft office outlook tools -> Time Zone Data Update Tool -> Time Zone Daylight Savings Update Mode
4. It will update your appointments/ reminders (including bday reminders) and show them on the right date!

Anniversary's in Calendar

I hope someone can answer this for me.
How do you put an anniversary in your calendar without putting a start date? Is it possible?
I have an anniversary which shows up with a line through the little arrows which stand for a recurring item.
This item doesn't show a year (number in brackets) after it on my PDA.
I have no idea how I have done this, but would want to replicate it because this would be useful for some anniversary's where I don't know the start year.
I'd like to know if is posible..
i have been trying that too.
If you insert the birthday or anniversary date in the Contacts' details, then it will show up in the calendar with the number in brackets.
Check this, but I think you have to sync the PDA with Outlook on the PC for it to do this, as I don't think the anniversaries or birthdays show up if you just alter the Contact details on the PDA - but try it.
What about for having St Patrick's day showing on your PPC. There is no start year, it is the same day every year so I don't want to have to manually put it in every year!
Any ideas for that?
Just put it in as a recuring item! There is no need to have a start year or even a year count in brackets for this type of reminder
BTW, forget St Pats day and don't forget to add April 23rd

Sorry I don't get this. If I put it in as a recurring item on an anual basis, as an all day event, then next year it automatically has a 1 in brackets after it. I don't see a way of putting it as a recurring item and not getting the year count! If it is weekly or monthly then it doesn't have it, but yearly does?
Please explain further if I am being a bit daft!
Should I put it as a timed entry?
For holidays for a specific country, in Outlook at the desktop go to options calendar options - add holidays, and choose your country. Then sync your PDA and you'll have national holidays.
For anniversary, use the contacts. That way you'll have them on calendar every year. Even if you don't know the year make a guess.

Can I add notes to dates in calendar?

Hi, I've had my HD2 for just over a week and really pleased with it
What I cannot seem to find is a way of adding a note to a day in the calendar so that when I go back to that day i can read that entry.
Therefore, could I do this with some other software?
Some sort of diary perhaps?
TIA
Bixx
you can add a new note to a day by hitting menu new appointment and put the time as all day if u dont want a specific time hope that helps

Custom Calendar Repeat Intervals

Hi Guys,
Love the work you've all been doing - I love tinkering with my HD2
One thing I've been looking for is some way to set appointments in the calendar to repeat every 3 weeks. I'm not much of an outlook user, so I'd rather avoid having to set it up and sync the appointments (as I'm guessing would be an easy solution) and I'd like to use the default calendar app if possible.
Anyone know if this is an easy fix?
Cheers
Ross
PS
I'm after a 3 week repeat as it'll allow me to schedule in my shift pattern!
hey mate, thats a tricky one.
in HTCs stock calendar, there are only 3 recurrence options (weekly, monthly and yearly). but if you chose to set your appointments using your PC, then sync your calendars... im pretty sure outlook will let you have more control. keeping in mind... successfully syncing a PPC with your PC using Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center can be a serious challenge.
alternatively, you can try a third party calendar app (maybe ThumbCal) and see if they will let you have greater customization. if you dont want to USE the third party app, you can install it - set up your appointments - then uninstall. hopefully this will have saved your appointments into outlook mobile (which is what powers HTCs calendar).
the third option is to simply set each appointment manually... this may seem like a bit of a monotonous task, but if youre setting 3 week intervals... you could probably set 2 years worth of reminders within 5-10 minutes.
good luck man.
cheers.
Hi, if you are still looking for a shift rota app you should take a look at MobileRota, free to try it out for a month, it works well for me.
