Just a warning for anybody with a Jam or any mobile PDA..
Do NOT install wisbar advance, it's one of the most popular pocket PC programs, but it actually stops the phone from ringing after a few minutes and you cannot receive incoming calls.
They are currently developing a new version especially for mobile PDA's.
Just thought id let you know as it caused me a lot of problems until I found it was wisbar causing the problem.
Only the phone edition of wisbar, in alpha stage, has this problem.
Hi Jacoch, that is incorrect.
The mobile edition is being developed because of the problem with wisbar advance on mobile PDA devices.
Wisbar advance was meant for PDA not PDA running windows mobile.
I purchased wisbar 2 and it had that problem.
Wisbar mobile edition has lots of problems too as its in alpha.
If you have a jam, feel free to install wisbar advance 2 and open then phone app, and make a call, then try to receive one your phone simply wont ring.
it not happen with standard Phone program & happen with some Phone Extra program (like Intelli Dialer....)
I noticed the same.. I've tried Wisbar Advance 2.0.1.9 on my T-Mobile MDA Compact (without any of the extended rom stuff like intellidialer installed) and it won't ring while running wisbar.. The phone will turn itself on upon receiving a call but there is no ringtone and the phone application doesn't show..

Exactly the same with mine.
The creator of the wisbar 2 is aware of the problem and thus created the mobile edition.
Its obvious really that it would cause problems, because it wasnt created with phone calls in mind.
It will run perfectly on a normal pocket pc
hey guys i am usin xda II installed wisbar advance only caz i wanted to use the aqua mac theme ne ways...was very disappointed to find out that it doesnt ring and blah blah.....but last nite what happed was i left my xda II running in wisbar mode and the phone was locked and guess what in the morning it started ringing it self when i got up it was askin me for a password as it gets locked after 5 mins and by the time i unlocked it call was cancelled and i could see the miss call on top.... and the thing was actually ringing for a surprise.... !!

I use IcBar (it is based on wisbar api). I think it creats some of delay when someone calls me.

Chris over at wisbar has now released a beta version that is very stable and the phone rings, you must download the beta version from the forums. Make sure you choose the WM2003 SE download.
Along with Pocket Plus it's the best program for pocket PC. I love it.

works perfectlly !!
Ok I'm fairly confused about what Wibar Advance Software I should be downloading.
When on the Lakeridge Website there is a section for Wisbar PPC Phone Edition, but the product listed there is relatively ol, 12-04, and is called an alpha.
Minotavrs,
The Beta you provide the link for does not indicate that this Wisbar Advance is applicable to the Phone Edition, however, I took your advice and I have installed it on my JAM. So far no big issues. I called myself and the phone rang. I noticed when in the Phone Pad Program that you cannot exit from the phone-pad unless you hit the end-call button.
Besides that, at least thus far, this Wisbar Avance (isbaradv2.20112.xscale), appears to work great with my JAM.
So far I'm very impressed. I have never used wisbar, because I have always had a PPC-PE devices and Wisbar would never work with these types of devices.
So-is the Wisbar Advance 2 that I list above made for PPC-PE devices or is the new Advanced 2 Wisbar application just providing extra support for PPC-PE devices?

wisbar advance does ring!!!
everybody i have instaled wisbar advannced on my pda 02 xda minni and it dose ring i tryed it lots of times and it worked all times so i don't know it might be just your version of wisbar you guys have because my version works awsame
I have IPDashboard, Agenda Fusion and Wisbar Advance 2 installed in my Jam. I'm having problems with my PDA not ringing(or vibrating) when in stand-by and need to do a soft reset to enable it again(ringing function). I missed several calls already and I decided to upgrade to 1.06 ROM. i installed the same set of apps and got the same problem. I did a hardreset and have not installed any of the said app and now my Jam works like it should be.
I'm just wondering if any of you are having the same issues that I have and what applications currently installed in your Jam.
WisBar Advance2 is known to have caused problems with Phone Edition devices.
The guy at Lakeridge is even kind enough to inform anyone about this in the middle of the front page on the wisbar download site:

stupid me i missed that.. i've used it with my iMate and 6315 before but I dont remember having that problem
thanks!
I had the same problem with Wisbar.
In the Lakeridge forum there is a beta version that solves that problem.
Works for me.
(In the new beta there is also a working signal strength meter.)
i tried the beta.. so far so good. i just can't have a PDA without WA
task bar replacement for Magic Button
Does anyone know of a good task manager/closer that doesn't cause lockups and screen freezes?
I tried using magic button, but its buggy as hell, same with wis bar advance.
If I don't use any task manager, my jam is jamming. no soft reset or lock up issues.
Please help.
thanks
WA 2.0.14 beta works fine with my Jam(as of now). no lock ups or anything. i just cant find any task manager with feature set as WA thats why Im sticking with it(and great support too)

Hi dnp_now,
I'm using vbar (can be found here: http://www.vieka.com/vbar.htm) as well as TillanoSofts SmallMenu (http://www.tillanosoft.com/ce/smenu.html) for switching between apps and closing them on my german MDA compact.
Both of them are running at the same time and are also linked to one hardware button by VITO ButtonMapper (free version for two actions per button is included in a Cebit-Software package available here: http://www.mobile2day.de/cebit/).
This combination is very practible, because I can start and close every program installed on my MDA using the hardware buttons and dont have to use the stylus:
One tap of the hardware button opens SmallMenu with which I can start the programs and switch between already opened apps, two taps on the same button opens vbar, with which I can close the programs (also those running in the background!).
So one-handed operation is possible without any problem. The only downer is that vbar cant' be used in landscape mode, i.e. better close it when switching to LS and reactivate it when you switch back to portrait mode again.
Hope this helps,
greets, BGK[/url]
I would suggest SPB PocketPlus. Very stable, and well worth the money.
jam keeps turning on when connected via activesync
Hello,
Does anyone know why my jam keeps turning on when its connected via activesync?
I put it on standby, then a few minute later it turns on, and try to sync with my desktop. I'd rather have it on standby most of the time.
thanks

Apparently you don't know the answer so it's stupid to just assume it isn't functional. Actually WA2 and WAD are very fast and responsive and the amount of RAM it uses is controlled by the amount of objects you use.
The setup of hellomoto_25 will probably take up about 6 MB's of RAM.
I have a similar setup on my Axim x51v (VGA device, so all images/GUI elements are 4 times bigger) and it takes 7MB's of RAM, using PB/CB/PRSS, WA2 and WAD.
Thanks for the compliments ya'll. I'd like to take all the credit but the icons and docks come from some great people over at lakeridgesoftware.com in the forums.
I run with 18mb after a soft reset and after a few hours of use I'm down to about 13mb. I SR about once a day just to keep things fresh.
As far as the skin goes, right now WAD (wisbar advance desktop) skins are rather costomized and in order for the skin to work you either need to store the images and .exe's to the same place on your device/storage card as I do and/or re-write the skin file in notepad.
Your best bet is to do what I did and take advantage of the icons and docks that others have provided and make your own skin.
I wouldn't run my ppc w/out WAD and WA2 (wisbar advance 2).
I just can't stand the default today screen.
And until Apple makes a handheld device with a built in phone, this is the best I can do.
Here is my dialpad and welcome screen after a soft reset.
Those look fantastic.... I have registered version of both WBar and WAD... but couldn't get them to look like all the great ones out there, and frankly it slowed my device way way down... not saying it was the app. As the app is fantastic.... but I must just not have as much free memory as those who have made the killer screen designs....
I am very jealous in a way, as I wish my device looked like that.... but it runs real smooth as it is now... so.... :?

Download Wisbar Advanced version 2.6.0.2 on WA2's forum. It runs really, really smooth and fast in combination with WAD on my HTC Magician.

i have a tmobile Wing running wm6 and i have tried all htc touch apps on this website and they dont work for me... can someone either upload working apps(like the contact manager, the comm. manager, the cube thing) or upload a working ROM of the HTC touch(which will work on the WING) for the 64 bit computer??
how are you installing them?
you realise you put the cab file onto the phone then execute it there rather than your pc right?
thats the impression i get from your post...
yes i know that, i am not a nub... i have installed many apps, but they end up screwing up my phone cause it works so slowly
bump ...
All the HTC touch apps that I found from explode, they all work fine on my SX66.
Can you describe more about your phone, and how you install the application?
What symptom/behaviour are you seeing on your phone?
well, i transfer it to my storage card, and then run it. later i get a successfully installed message. i soft-reset my phone and then either the program doesn't start up, puts my phhone in a infinate reset mode, or doesnt work correctly.
the htc cube is installed, but i can see the cube! i see this S icon, and a P icon when i slide my finger from bottom to up . since it didnt work, i unistalled it.
the contact manager from the all htc apps extracted sticky starts up, but i cannot change the theme! i see the regular old contacts manager with a white bar, when i run my finger over it, it shows a letter, and scrolls to it, but doesnt have the touch interface i need, and its not graphical at all
and the comm. manager REMOVES my comm. manager, rather than adding one
i am running wm6, boots fine now, the following htc apps
-audio manager
-htc touch theme
-htc album
-htc touch skin for wmp
-spb backup
-htc touch wait cursor(got from freewarepocketpc.net)
that should explain a lot

explode? can you please post some links and i will try them and replay asap
The 'htc cube' your talkin about is not the actual cube. its called FTouchFlo and is used to scroll and launch programs by using gestures. the changing between s and p is changing between launching mode and scrolling mode. What your looking for is the TouchFlo cube, which i belive must be cooked into a rom to work well. there are other options out there that can be cab installed, just search around the forums.
u mean something like this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343583
i tried that but in the instructions, i dont know what the prequisites are n i dont have em
i copied the shortcuts to the startup folder and then i ran the program in the folder containting the exe file that came with the zip
can someone post a cab, that i run, and will configure my phone that it works... i dont want to do the "remove the following apps from the startup folder...", the cab file should do that...
i also have problem with touchflo. i saw a lot of threads on it and i dun know which 1 i have to follow and install.
and if any expert here can help me.
1. i am on wm6. not htc theme.
2. i am on wisbar and wisbar desktop
3. device is atom life.
and i want to use the touchflo. can anyone assist me?
can i do the swiping even my screen is on the wisbar?
can anyone help me with this.
help is greatly appreciated.
thanks!
htc theme is not an operating system. it just alters the way it looks. im runnign wm6 also
wisbar is okay and i dont think it affects touchflo, except wisbar uses up too much memory
so who ever has touchflo working on wm6, can u please post a link to the file, and specific instructions on how to install?

Hello,
since I installed the Cotulla WM6.1 on my magician I tried different today homescreens or plugins like fewidget, throttlelauncher, HTC Home, Androkkid, Manila 2D etc.. some did work, but in the way I wanted - and I'm already at the end with my nerves
Finally I found Wisbar Advance Desktop and it works pretty good. I installed it on my storage card.. BUT there is one problem, I can't switch between themes. There is no theme witch works if I click on change themes, I can see them, I can also click on them, BUT nothing changes, I only get the default portrait theme..
Believe me, I installed the themes correctly..
I also tried to install WisBar Advance Desktop on main memory, but the same.. no difference!
Please can anybody help me!!?
I don't know, maybe I have to install something else like .NET?? I have installed .NET 3.5
Greets,
Tata
screw it, if it won't work then just go for something else, manilla 2d is awesome, it is fast and leaves enough ram to be able to use afterwards
