VoiceDail with device password - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I cannot use the VoiceDail option on my MDA Pro with the Screen closed and the password anabled.
The hardware button "VoiceDail" won't work when the device is closed. Is there a crack or sollution for this?

Can't you initiate voice dialing through a handsfree set?
BT or wire?

If you go to Settings, Personal, Buttons, then go to the Lock tab there's an option to Lock All Buttons when the device is off. Is it possible that you have this set?
Brett

I think if you use ms voice command it has a feature to work with the password, never tried it out though?

I have the button lock turned on. I can initiate voice dial through the BT headset without any problem. However, with the button lock on, i cannot initiate voice dial through the device itself with the lid closed.

voice dail with a password enabled and the device locked works on my imate. is it the same cybereon voice dail app on the T-Mobile version? I also had MS voice working using the button as per the reg hack (elsewhere) and MS voice does indedd have a feature to ignore the password setting and respond regardless, but it doesn' t seem to work and would alsway ignore if the device was locked.

It think the MS Voice Command only works when the device is in "password lock" mode, not today screen "button lock" mode.

tt5 don't works with flight mode activate ?

i have a qtek 9100 with tomtom 5.210 installed.
when i use tt5 i must leave my radio unit turned on (flight mode deactivate) if i turn off radio unit (flight mode activate) my tt5 stops connection with gps and a message appear (no gps with flight mode activate)
please help me...tomtom site have only ridicolous answers...
When u turn on flight mode, all radio communications are turned off.
Bluetooth, wifi, and gsm.
So your bluetooth gps will not work anymore.
Havn't found a way yet to turn off the gsm without turning on flight mode, but personally i see no reason to do this.
the reason:
when i leave my country for holiday i usually turn off my telephone that i use for work but i would like to use my tomtom navigator. with my old magician i could do with newest wizard no... please help me....
sorry for my english
Put your networksettings to manual and your phone will look for you home network and will be unable to connect
Or don't enter a pin but push cancel (not certain about the last one)
Couldn't you put a different SIM in when yuo go on holiday?
The workaround is to configure TomTom to use "Other Cable NMEA" instead of "Other Bluetooth" - then you can have your phone switched off, and Bluetooth switched on.
thank you very much for trying to give me a solution...
the tip of network doesn't work...the phone doesn't connect home and request me to choose another network.
the tip of the nmea cable doesn't work...i can't reach com6 port in setting configuration of tomtom program
i think i probably don't have a solution...
Did you try the trick of not entering the pin for your SIM mentioned above?
That would be a nice solution because you still would be able to call emergency number.
Very handy for when TT sends you straight off a cliff or something
I use to have to turn my phone part of on my XDA IIi for TomTom as my SD card (SanDisk Ultra II 2GB) locked up when the radio was on.
There are 3 ways to achive this that I have all found successful:-
1. Remove your Sim Card
2. Create a PIN on your Sim Card and press cancel when asked for it.
3. Download PocketZenPhone (http://zendrui.free.fr/) this will allow you to create a profile with just the phone radio turned off that you can toggle on and off.
I now use a Transcend 80x 512mb SD card for TomTom which never locks up (Thanks to the forums here for recommending this one!!! ).
Hope this helps
David
the pin trick works fine thank you very much....and marry xmas
hi, i have an o2 xda mini s. My wifi and bluetooth work fine with flight mode on.

i-mate ROM Update - GPRS Disconnect Button

I have just installed the new I-mate ROM update; all is fine except the GPRS Disconnect button had disappeared.
The GPRS Disconnect function was present on the latest T-Mobile UK ROM
Anybody know a regedit to provide this function?
Thanks.
in "HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone" create new dword value "Flags2". set it to bin value of 8.
Thanks, Perfect!!
However, I could only set a Dec value of 8; it works so who’s complaining?
Isn't that button now found in Comms Manager? Or is that the button you are talking about?
No I don’t think so, the new button in comm manager appears to be a function to turn the phone off and put it into flight mode.
I required a Disconnection button when connected via GPRS to kill the connection.

You have such a function in the new connection manager. The button with phone symbol and two arrows. When connected you can press that to disconnect GPRS
ooohhh. ok, its the device symbol that states ' Stop Data Service' when pressed.
Well I got two ways of disconnecting now....Thanks.

Vijay Volubilis not working on prophet :-(

Has anybody found a way to toggle wifi off/on with one click, instead of going through comm manager? Vijay' volubilis responds that "no compatible wifi found" when executed on my prophet.
Anyone? Or Vijay himself maybe shedding some light on this issue?
VJVolubilis's wifi feature has only been tested on the Universal, because that's the hardware I have. The Wizard wifi control is not perfect, because I don't have one.
I'm slowly thinking about how to try to implement a more generic wifi control, but unfortunately this is not really an OS feature, it's OEM specific, so it's something I'm still investigating. I haven't thought about the Prophet before. Let me check it out...
V
If you need any info (registry or what-not), let me know.
Thanks for looking into this.
vjvolubilis can be used for turning on/off wifi on prophet..
but there is one additional step to make it work..
ie after every soft reset, u need to use comm manager to turn on/off wifi 1 time. after which , u can use vjvolubilis to control it..
this issue is the same when u are using phone alarm with skins that can allow one touch wifi on/off... ie comm manager must activate it for at least once before it will respond to oneclick controls from either vjvolubilis or phonealarm..
I own a dopod818 [ singapore's version of prophet ]
Hey, I didn't know it (kind of) works on the Prophet... so it uses the same architecture as the Wizard I guess.
I'll try to think about Wifi control a little more as soon as I get a bit of time.
V
Not quite. Yes, true, I realized now that once Comm manager is employed once, Vijay's app CAN turn wifi on. But it does not turn it off, if you press wifi toggle again...
At least on my Qtek S200 with latest Dopod rom.
solved
Found a solution for this issue
Just put a shortcut to \Windows\WiFiInit.exe into your startup folder and enjoy the quickly activating wi-fi! After a soft reset this vill activate wlan for a second (green led will flash once and a wi-fi icon will appear on a place of network icon — don't worry).
But, as krale said, there is another little bug with VjVolubilis: you have to create both -wifion and -wifioff shortcuts to control wifi on Prophet because -wifitoggle shortcut does not turn off the wi-fi, it just can activate it.
When launched with -status parameter, it says that Wisard wi-fi is activated.

The 8125 is great but how do I fix these issues?

My 8125 is about a month old now and it is great. It’s my first experience with push email and it’s wonderful. I do have a few problems that I can not find a fix for. I have read many forums and have come to the conclusion that these features are either broke or were meant to work incorrectly.
1.) If you leave Pocket Outlook as the foreground task the 8125 will not notify you in any way that you have a new message. You have to turn the device on to check for new email. If Pocket Outlook is not running or its running in the background the phone will beep and the orange light will blink. If the phone is in standby it should notify you of a new message no matter what.
2.) The Bluetooth LED is always blinking. I always use a Bluetooth headset and it’s very common when I am driving to leave iNav GPS software running that uses a Bluetooth GPS. There is no reason for me to ever turn Bluetooth off so I do not need to be notified it is on or off. It would be nice if I could change the Bluetooth LED to notify me of voice mail or a missed call and the orange light can be used for new push email or SMS/MMS messages.
3.) When you open the keyboard it should light up. If you are in a dark room you have to open the keyboard the press a key to get it to light up. I also have not found a way to change how long it stays on for. There are a few reg hacks that claim they change the time but they do not work on my 8125.
4.) Every time I use WiFi I have to change my internet profile so it does not use a proxy. When you turn the WiFi radio on it should automatically change that info. When you turn WiFi off it should change it back automatically.
The following two have nothing to do with the 8125 but if someone has a fix it would be helpful.
5.) When you use push email your IT department can force a policy on the phone to ask for a password every 30 min of inactivity. This is a real pain if you are using a GPS. I found a reg hack that lets me change it to 24 hours but the policy gets forced on the device once a day and I have to run the reg hack again. Has anyone found a way around this?
6.) iNAV GPS Software has a bug that makes the voice navigation on all WM5 devices go very very very slow. The fix is to turn off the GPRS radio. When you do that all your push emails do not come in. iNAV claims they are working on a fix but I was curios if anyone found a way around this issue.
If anyone has any advice on these items it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
SeanH
There is no fix for the keyboard light issue. It is a flaw in the way it was built and is a hardware-activated light, so registry keys won't do anything.
Sorry, but that's all I have for you.

I don't have a fix but just work around. What i am doing is to create a separate connection for wi-fi (no proxy). When you need to use wi-fi instead of gprs, you can simply select this connection from settings-->connections-->advanced-->select networks. Hence you don't have to remove the proxy settings for gprs everytime you use wi-fi. It takes a few steps but still easier than add/remove proxy settings. Hope this helps.

I use iNav GPS software a lot but I didn't realize this issue. It seems running perfect, voice prompt, recalculation, display... which version of iNav are you using?

I have a T-Mobile MDA (US) and use Pocket Informant v5 as the default PIM. I don't normally have PI in the foreground but haven't noticed this behavior under any circumstances.

Just touch the bottom right key or the spacebar and the keyboard backlight will turn on without affecting anything else. I've heard complaints about this but I can't see why this is an issue. OTOH, the timing of the backlight is another matter, and it should be adjustable. Alas, it appears not to be.

Mine just logs onto a network if available, and I haven't had any problems with wifi at all.

I'm using iGuidance v3 and haven't noticed this, but GPRS isn't being used. I'm not sure how to enable/disable it, but in Settings > Connections > GPRS it is set to "Chap Authentication." When upgrading firmware I do not auto-load the Ext. ROM programs and have only a few loaded manually, so the GPRS functionality may not be fully implemented. Needless to say, I am not subscribing to internet service at this time.

In a dark area it’s hard to see the keyboard until it lights up. I use the right arrow to get this display to light up. When you press the space bar it will enter a space in what ever app is active. Not turning the light on when the keyboard opens is a design flaw. Most people open the keyboard to use it. As soon as you press any key the light comes on so you can see the keys. It just makes sense to turn the keyboard light on when you open it so you can start typing.

It looks like iNavcorp is in the process of posting a fix. This is from there web site.
Patch file (for DVD version only)
This patch will correct slow voice guidance speed issue on ppc phones as well as some other minor syntex/routing errors on ppc, laptop, and umpc/car pc versions. It also includes few new features such as panning mode exit timer as well as timer reset code for ppc phone edition.

Disableing phone feature

I want to use my I-Mate Jam as a PDA only. And I want to disable the phone feature so that it wont pop up all the time to ask to put in a SIM card. How do I do that?
Tap on the "no SIM" or antenna icon in the top bar. A bubble should pop up with "turn flight mode on" link. Tap it and the phone part will be disabled.
By the way are you using Jam or Jamin?
In Jamin (which is the prophet) you can also do this through comm manager (button on the left side of the device).
I am using JAM. But I dont want to enable flight mode on as I want to use bluetooth. all I want is just to disable phone feature. I want to use this device for GPS only in my car. That is why I want to disable phone only.
Well first off you are in the wrong forum. Please check the pictures (I really don't remember what the name for the JAM is, but it is not prophet).
Second, from my experience, at least on WM 5 device you can enter "flight mode" which will turn off all wireless, then re-enable bluetooth through BT manager or similar.
The phone part will stay off until you exit "flight mode".
