Hi guys,
can someone explain me the possible colours of the Jam's led and what they mean?
Static orange means charging, static green means fully charged, blinking green means network reception is ok, blinking orange means incoming event (alarms, SMS, phone call etc) or existing GPRS connection. The blue LED means Bluetooth active.
And red means dead battery.

It's called a backup battery. I think the LED comes on then the SD reader shuts down and the screen goes to half brightness. Don't forget the backup battery.
So there!!
the red comes on if i take the battery out while it's connected to usb, probably means error with the battery
and i think it comes on on low battery as well
I tested it last night. When my battery got down to 10% the screen went to half brightness, the radio turned off, the SD card slot shut down and the red LED began blinking.

So the battery is not dead.... Still have a little juice on it
Regards,

Non windows 2005 pocketpcs retain about 40% of battery when the battery low indicator is showing:
How much battery charge do you think you have then? 5% maybe?
Try half.
Yes, when we shut you down because your batteries were "critically low," they were still 1/4 to 1/2 full. Why? Because, if the batteries ever fully died, it would be catastrophic.

Has anyone else noticed when you plug in the Phone to be recharged, occasionally the 'red' indicator does not come on or disappears?
It's now happened to me several times ~ I plug the Phone in for a recharge, initially the red light comes on then after a few seconds it goes out leaving no indication if it's charging or when it's complete.
Beards
Read this that i posted several days ago and check your charger
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446583&highlight=power+supply
"Wiggle" the charger around and see if the charge light goes on and off!

Could it due to bad physical connection?
No guys.
I'Ve cheched all connections.
Besides, if I leave it plugged in whilst there is no light showing and switch off the Phone the red charging light then comes on.
Beards
Well this is now really starting to bug me.
I've carried out a Hard Reset thinking something was interferring with the charge light procedure but even on a default machine with the device running the red light simply does not come on.
Swith the Phone off, then connect and the red light appears.
So.... when my machine is running I don't get the indicator (but it is charging I know because after leaving it for 30mins I've checked and sure enough it's charging).
Any other ideas???
My Trinity does this when overheating, it stops charging and blinks the LED. Unplug for 10 minutes and replug.

Now that's an answer I was not expecting...... Thanks tnyynt, I'll give that a go on my next charge cycle.
Edited:
No... that didn't work.... but thanks all the same.
I have now resigned myself to the fact if I want to see the red charging light the only way is to first power down the Phone, then connect to the mains electric and then the red charge light comes on.
If I want I can then switch the Phone back on again whilst charging until the green charged light shows.

how do you tell if your phone is fully charged when charging the x1 beside looking at the battery status when the phone is on. does the illumination light go out when your unit is charged or does it continue blinking whether its fully charged or not.
when i charge mine, the lights blink and then after several hours, i would not see it blink for a little while but then every now and then, i would see it blinking again.
just want to know if the lights stops blinking, the phone is fully charged.
Exactly what I want to know.
Yes, the side lights stop blinking when it is fully charged.
When it stops charging, the lights go out. But then, when in trickle charging mode, it is shown by the light.
how can I see the remaining battery (percentage) without pressing a series of buttons?

You can set the clock in the menubar to show the battery power, but the the clock is gone or you use a small and nice freeware like batti: http://code.google.com/p/batti/

Dear all,
Does anyone have the problem where HTC Touch 3G does not fully charged the battery even after 8hours of continous charge. When I do a soft reset the battery will show 100 percent and if I plug in back to the charger, the LED light on the device will turn solid green after a while. Also if I switch off the device via holding the power button and selecting 'YES' from the dialog box then it would also charged to 100%. Does anyone know if this is software or hardware related? Thanks.
Regards,
Kueh.
Me to: It will not completely charge!
Same behaviour here! It will not completely charge the battery. When I do a soft reset the battery will show 100 percent and if I plug in back to the charger, the LED light on the device will turn solid green after a while.
I guess it is software related..?
same on mine!
This is what I understand how it works...
The moment you unplug the charger, the fully charged battery is immediately used and becomes 99.999* %, even if the phone is off. Some power will be used e.g. the internal clock. But the default and customised some battery indicator will still show 100% (depending on what settings you use). If you use the customised 1% increment/decrement level, it will immediately show 99% and down and down. So when you plug on again, the battery is already 99.9999% and it will charge until 100%.
Battery issue..
The same behavior here too.
It appears as 100 % only after Soft reset.
And the LED - when the battery is full the LED flashing Green, but still flashing. The LED use some energy,so its normal for me.

Is not like that...
When battery is about 10% gives a message about the low battery level. I charge it, and the battery level becomes up, until 70%, then stops growing up and the led continues in orange. It can pass hours and the level maintain the 70% and the led doesnt turn to green.
Any could say what could happen?
I think it wolud be problem of:
1- the battery
2 - the charger
3 - the hardware in the htc that manages the charging.
4 - The software in the htc that manages the charging.
5 - ...any idea?

Have you tried charging your unit with the screen turned off ? or maybe shutdown the phone and charge it, I do it in my Jade and it charge very quick. in less than two hours the LED turns green. Hope that helps
Hi,
I have to a Hard Reset for the battery recharging status to work. Also when third party battery Icon program is used the problem comes back again. So now I have remove them all and it have worked for a few weeks now. Removing the third party program without a Hard Reset does not do the trick. Hope this helps.

Kueh

My opinion, you may have problem with the hardware, charger or even battery itself. You should send the set to the service centre.

I use a customised battery icon (the 1% incremental) and there's no problem. Full charging from about 10% is reached in < 2 hrs, even charging using PC or laptop.

Have you tried ArielBattery program. I like it but it just interfere with the full charging problem and without it the system works perfectly in my case it is not hardware problem.

Yes, I have used ArielBattery for quite a while, and I did not give me any problem. Now I am using this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3330601&postcount=69) and there's no problem either. And I do check and compare between the two

I have changed the rom and the problem seems to be solved.
Yesterday last around 4 hours to get 100% charged, but finally the orange led become green without doing reset or unplagging the jade.
I would be expectant next time i recharge...
As title says, it wont charge. Tried using a PC and the regular charger. The notification LED is just flashing orange, then green and so on.
Bit of a SNES solution, but have you tried blowing in the USB socket, and blowing in the connector? If there is some fluff covering one of the terminals that will stop it charging.
Doesnt help. When I am connecting the charger, the notifiction LED lights up orange. And 10-20 seconds later it starts flashig green, orange, green, orange and so on.
If I start the phone, it says 0% battery, and if I set it to charge, it just shows 99%.

I had this problem. Have you installed any data monitoring apps?
No, WinLongLife must be the closest one.
I really need help.
Now the battery is all dead. Cant even preform a hard reset.
From the reports on here this seems to indicate a dead battery.

Consider how you have treated the battery when recharging.
It certainly sounds like a dead battery.
Have you allowed it to discharge on a regular basis?

I usually charge it at below 20%, but the in the last week, the battery has been very bad for some reason. So I would always have to charge it at 40-50% if I was going out or something, so it would last.

I have tried two different cables.
I take it that you have tried a wall charger.
Their output its higher than USB, but, if they don't work then you will have to change the battery.
HD2 charging problem
Sounds familiar to me!
I got a second battery (1500mAh), which won't charge when the phone is turned ON. The second I plug it in to a USB port I states 100% charged although the battery is at an arbitratry level. The weird thing is when the phone is turned OFF, the battery will charge normally !
I had the same blinking sequence during a road trip, when the HD2 was charging on the GPS stand, under direct sun.
When refreshed, the HD2 resumed charging.
For me it seems to be the impossibility of recharging - dead battery or hot battery (failsafe).
I had a similar problem..
When I connected the micro usb to the computer or the charger..it showed that my battery is filled..and thats it..so when i took it off my phone was dead..
And little later i found out that the trouble was in this lil metal-kinda things(dont kno how to call it) that connect the battery to the phone..and after i done the "battery off" reset(i was a total noob) several times one of those metal-like things was bent that it didnt touch the battery..then i carefully re-put the battery so its all connected..and it worked!

I can't believe I'm the 18th post and no one has suggested this.
Go to the battery settings...the easiest way is to click on the taskbar and then click on battery. Make sure that the check box is NOT checked next to "When phone is on, do not charge the battery......"
If that doesn't help you it may be useful to someone else. This was also a problem for me when I first got the HD2.

Well...I'm very sorry...you can rest assured that I won't bother you again.
Oh...one other thing...my response was to the OP...not to you.
I just got the Huawei IDEOS X5. Once the battery ran low, I plugged it to the charger. The problem is that the Led Status Indicator (above the screen on the front of the phone) doesn't become orange (it is green). According to the instructions this Led should be orange while the charge is in progress, and become green once the phone is fully charged. This behavior does not follow the info described in the manual of the phone.
Has anyone had the same problem? Do you know why this is happening? Should I return the phone back to the seller?
Thanks
khtc
Led burns green, when the battery is above 90% or so. Under that should be orange. Sometimes when you plug in the charger, it takes time even to start charging (Led is green then). I'd say try to observe more
I thought the same when I first start charging my device, but when the device was fully charged I realized that the led(which seems to me green) wasn't.
The orange color of the led it's not so orange(like was on other devices) but is more close to green(again the green on other devices). On ideos the the green led it's not so light and yellowish, it's more deep like trees green.
And what sanpsa says happens also after 90%
Thank you guys. You were 100% right both!
Dunno, whether it depends of soft or not, but when battery below 15% (or 10%) LED should be red. For mine device it's so.
