TomTom Navigator 5 POI XDA2 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Been playing about with this great program and have a question.
When creating your own POI 'points of intrest' is it possible to add a phone number to one like some of the default ones have?

points of interest (POI) & TOM TOM 3

I have down loaded the airfields UK poi and these have transfered to my XDA II with no problems apart from their being no icon in the poi menu, only the file name. All the poi are in the database but I can get no vissual reference on the screen i.e no icon, any ideas? I did down load the file with the "down load immage" box checked.????????? I am using the the poi program from http://www.dnote.nl/ and the points of interest from the pocket gps web site http://www.pocketgps.co.uk
There should be a .bmp picture file with the same name as the POI, so if the POI file was called - airports.ov2, he Image file will be called airports.bmp
Thanks.
I copied a .bmp file and re-naimed it to give me Airfields_UK.bmp that then linked it with the Airfields_UK.OV2 file and hey presto I now have the icons.
It did happen to me some weeks ago.
My mistake was to copy the file to my SD card instead of going though the software menus to do that. I guess something needs to be done in addition to a simple copy and paste.
I followed the manual instruction by the book and it worked for me.
But my POI / Tom Tom is king of down for the moment so I can't reproduce it exactly.

TomTom POI.dat updates & modification for no poi limit

Hi,
I'm wondering if you can download an updated POI.dat version somewhere with the latest adresses & points of interest.
Also if it's possible to set the number of poi's higher (with hexadecimal program or something) ? Does anyone know what the limit of poi's on one map is, and how you can set this higher through hexadecimal program or something ?
Thanks!
Keep cool!
You can install POI Edit. With this progam you can update them via internet.

poi.dat - not poi.edit
no, I mean an updated POI.dat, that's the pre-programmed file in your country map with the poi's & adresses from our country like parkings, restaurants,.... I know POI-edit, but that's not what I meant.
oh ok, i've done that (don't know how exactly). I know where i did get the info from, at least...

TomTom sat nav question. Please help

Hi guys, first of all I am new to this GPS thing so please don't laugh
Right I have got tt5.2 working perfectly on my exec (without gps). What I want to know is can I just purchase a GPS receiver and get it paired with my exec etc. and I will get free gps connection? What I mean is, is there a subscription fee before I can use this service? I don't need anything fancy or any add-on functions, I just need the basic gps thing.
Second question guys, I have installed celebrity voices on my tt5.2 (using ozzy osborne !! after 300m fcukin turn right, you have reached your fcukin destination !). In the folder there are 3 files, I know the 2 files I have to put in the navigator folder and I have it all working APART from the PICTURE, the third file is a picture file with ozzy osbornes' face on it so that when you go to choose voice function in tt you will see his face instead of the standard human shadow. Where do I put this picture file? I have it in the same navigator folder along with the other 2 files, the voice works perfect but I don't see the picture at the choose voice screen.
Please help, especially with first question thanks
Yes... all you need is the Bluetooth GPS receiver, and you are ready to go.... for info, I get most of my info on TomTom from www.pocketgps.co.uk.... look for the TomTom Nav forum
cheers that was the EXACT answer I needed to hear
so ebay here I come !!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Programatically edit IGO 2006+ POI file

Hy all,
I was frustrated for some time with the inaccuracies of POI in IGO maps and files. Some are old and nonexistent and so on.
As I know there are 2 places where POIs are located: IGO.db (sqlite3 database) and IGO map itself. If you try to open IGO.db, the content of the POIs table is encripted in some way. Now, I've seen there is at least one software, IGO Poi Explorer which bypases this encryption.
Before I get to hardwork myself, does someone knows how to decrypt the info inside the tables of igo.db?
Also another question, do you have any idea if the POIs inside the map file can be read/edit programatically. The map is a fbl file and to be honest I don't know with what to open
Many thanks guys
Hy, I got to programatically edit the contents of POI in the igo.db, but any idea related to the poi's in the .fbl file?
just use IGO 8

Gps Logging

Hi all I am running TomTom 6 on my Spv M700, are there any add on programmes I can use to log a journey. If not I am thinking about buying a GpsBug that will show the route taken on Google Earth Maps.
Many Thanks
there are plenty of apps which do what you want!
try noni gps plot(freeware) or other commercial software like 'Run GPS', 'trackpal'....
they keep a track of variables like speed altitude plus lots more and can be imported to Google earth. just do a Google search for em
I use Miomap3.2 on my trinity and you can log your rounte onto any map you have, this helped me back track a taxi's route that he toke accross Bulgeria so i could get back in a hire car, Perfect! plus its alot smaller than TomTom, Give it a try sometime
You can try TrackMe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340667). It does all you want (I think)
I use GPSplot ( http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/index.php )
to track and export to google earth. The site indicates also how to create a google earth background..
i personally use Run GPS, its for training, exercise etc it even handles multiple google maps with zoom function as backgrounds for tracking! you enter your personal info and it calculates how many calories you used etc.. don't know how accurate that is tho!
Thanks for all the replies, I am trying to run a tracking/logging programme while I am running Tom Tom 6. I don't expect to see the log on TomTom but would like to access the route afterwards. The problem I am having is my Orange Spv M700 that has Gps internally will not allow any of the splitter progammes to split the Gps signal between two progarmmes.
i.e. allow Tomtom to run with track me. I can run track me but not have TomTom running at the same time.
Thanks for all your help guys.

Thanks for the reply. Event Logger is not compatible with TomTom Nav 6. I have since managed to split my Gps port and I am trying some of the other programmes suggested.
Again many thanks to everyone.

I suggest you to buy an external data-logger device, like Wintec WBT201.
You can adjust how to log, e.g. every second, all 5 meters and so on. And you trinity donĀ“t have to be on all the time.
After your journey you can sell the wintec.

How exactly did you manage that?
I wanted a Gps logging programme/tool that i could use all the time not for a 1 off journey, I managed to split the port on my M700 by using Gps gate. Unfortunately I purchased a programme called Navio which logs journeys in Nmea format, using this and my tomtom at the same time slowed up my M700. I can use both at the same time using Gps gate but as I have explained everything runs very slow and tomtom locks up now & then.
