temp folder - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

hi! is it okay to empty the contents of the TEMP folder? and is it okay to delete a certain folder on the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE that is not installed on my pda anymore?

Yes and yes. Well I haven't killed my phone from doing these anyway. And just to be sure, do a backup if you need to hard reset. All should be fine, though.

Contact list backup.

I have no idea how to get Active Sync to backup my contact list. Im trying to find a program where I can just copy and paste them to my computer and then back once im done updating to the newest cingular rom.
Active Sync gives me an error about outlook having a diffrent user name or something and for the love of god i cant figure it out. Anyone can help out? I just want to backup my phone numbers, nothing else.
here's the solution
on your root of device; you'll find pim.vol file; copy it on ur sd card (i tried to copy it on my computer but it didnt let me) so copy it on sd card ; reflash your fone; and copy it back to original location (overwrite new pim.vol when u flash it)
easy>>huh?

Root of device: is the root directory of your device; with built in file explorer or via active sync explorer, you'll see your highest level of directory structure (few directories you'll see are APplication data, Conn Mgr, documents & settings, windows etc; along these directories; you'll see few files like pim.vol and few other files with *.vol extension
I dont know what else to define for root directory structure; may b you pick some windows for dummies book and get idea from it
Cheers!!!!

Reflash means update rom - thats what the first poster was about to do. So if you ever update your rom or hard reset your device (i.e. return your device to factory condition) you have a backup of your pim.
Also you need to rename the new pim.vol to pim.vo before you can restore the backed up version as it wont overwrite that file using total commander file explorer etc...

[Q] Accidentally deleted file manager files

So my dad accidentally deleted the folders and files in file manager. His tablet works fine, he uses it to browse so doesn't download anything, but I want the files there for peace of mind.
How can I get all the original files back? Dont really want to reset the tablet as it has got his apps and so on which I don't want reinstall. If that's the only option though then I will reset it.
I do have the same tablet myself so if that helps then please let me know.
So he uninstalled the file manager? Or deleted something else?
If it's on yours, you can copy and transfer with no issue.
If he just uninstalled the filemanager or deleted an aspect somehow, copy over directly, or install a different file browser like ES.
File manager is still there but my dad must have gone on it and pressed delete, select all, and delete again. So there are no files in file manager, or any folders, apart from maybe 1 or 2.
It shouldn't affect anything then, but if you like just go into your file manager and copy all the folders, then you can put them in anther folder, which you copy and empty in his filemanager directory. Its simple cut and paste really

cannot delete files from sdcard

i transferred a folder via adb to an empty 'sdcard' and while i can still write to it, i cannot delete anything. i have looked at permissions and all seems fine, but its not letting me.
a series of chowns solved this..

There's something in TWRP to delete files. I was unable to delete a clockworkmod file through the PC or file explorer, but the TWRP thing worked. Also, I noticed when you add or delete files (mostly delete), it doesn't show up until after a reboot.

Titanium Backup Has Renamed My Main Folder

I changed the backup location because it was saying I didn't have enough space (I had plenty). Now my main folder is called TitaniumBackup, with everything in there. New folders are being created outside of the TitaniumBackup folder.
I thought of copying everything inside it and pasting it outside but want to know first if it's simply a folder or something else because, using a file explorer, the sdcard folder is empty and so is emulated/legacy.
Or could I rename the folder to make it the main one again? If so, what to?
To give you an idea of what I mean:

Not sure how to fix your current issue, however, I experienced the same original error that you did. If you go into SuperSU and uncheck Namespace Separation, it will resolve that "low space" issue.
If you're on CM13 and using the built-in CM Root Manager, I'm not sure where the Namespace Separation option might be.
I changed the backup location too and everything is OK. Do you have the latest version of Titanium?
Another question, which SuperSU version are you using? Try the latest beta version of you don't have that installed already.
SuperSU 2.65 and latest Titanium.
I ended up just moving everything back to where it should be. It looks like it actually just moved everything in the TitaniumBackup folder, rather than renaming the main one. When I changed the folder location the phone froze and I had to long press the power button to reboot. It probably froze because it was moving everything, and I'm lucky rebooting didn't delete or corrupt any of my data (that I know of, anyway).
The original issue was solved by unchecking namespace separation. What's weird is, I could backup other apps, it was just Settings Storage that was giving the error.
