ddi anyone install the new ROM update for the 850 @ the Club Imate site?
I have tmo and the gprs symbol always has an x on it. When I try to connect, it says to check my settings. I checked it and there's nothing wrong with it.
Is anyone experiencing this problem on tmo? Does ne1 have a work around or fix?
i found the problem.
I figured the x meant that there were no gprs signal. The next thing I tried was changing the band. I installed the band cab that someone posted and chosed 1900. It's now working like a charm.

Hey folks,
Is there a utility/hack that allows you to change the GSM band from 900/1800 to just search the 1900 band? Since upping to 1.72 my radio always locks onto the 900 band and stays there for ages before locking onto my operator (on the 1900 band). I have to have at least 80% signal level. I know that 900 generally is a stronger signal (the other operator is always at least 10-20% over my operator), so thats why [note: I cannot roam with the other operator].. I know the new iPaq seems to have a band select, and my Treo 600 does too....
HTC do you have a util?
Any help greatly appreciated.

under my phone settings i can choose network and set pref network and all kind of stuff like that

i really doubt that HTC hang around this site you i think that
any questions you want to aim at HTC have to be mailed to them
Try this: go to phone, tools, options, network, network selection and put it in Manual, select your network and OK.
Tell us if it works well thus.
If it dont work, you can install old radio version.
Thanks folks for the replies.. That's actually how I have it set now (manual on my operator), but for some reason when you turn the radio on it locks on to the 900 band and just sits there.. If I walk around until a strong enough signal is obtained from my operator it'll lock on; but as you can imagine this is really annoying.
Thanks again for your pointers. If I find anything out I'll let you know, as I've also shot an e-mail to Carrier Devices; and will shoot something directly at HTC.
I may also drop down to Radio 1.10; but I hate having to re-install all my software again..
You can make backup, install old radio version and make restore.
Hi techies
I have recently brought a Cingular Connection with the data feature. The Data feature includes 3G service as well. However, I don't know how to configure 3G on my Imate-Jasjar. I have read at few places that there is some problem with the frequency bands in which 3G operates. So, just to add the info, I am living in washington in Redmond. Can anyone help me with this problem, How can I configure my Cingular 3G service on my Jasjar?
Thanks
As long as you have your phone settings on auto, it will automatically use 3g where it has a signal. The JasJar uses UMTS 2100, so I hope that's what is available in your area.

The Latest iMate Rom includes Operator CAB files.
You select your operation and it installs the settings for the selected operator in the Phone.
I have T-mobile NL. So by selecting it, it installed my acces point, MMS settings and GPRS Settings.
Other option is to go to the webside of your provider and find the options needed there.

I just checked the Cingular's website and found that Cingular has launched UMTS 1900 .
Is there any other way that I can get my jasjar work with UMTS 1900??
Thanks in advance
I'd like to know if anyone has 3g working on Cingular's network.
I don't think it can happen
hey guys im using a jasjar with WM6 (and have tried with others) newest release and even all the WM5 releases. I have my 3G simcard from my shop now. I have configured the phone for GPRS/3G using
Add line: GPRS,3G
wap.cingular
[email protected]
CINGULAR1
Works like a charm .... for GPRS my phone wont display 3G no matter what.
I live in NJ and tried multiple areas such as elizabeth and middlesex. I have also tried manhattan and still no go. I spoke to customer service and had them re provision everything and still NO!
Then some clown says that the only phones that go on the 3G network are firmware locked versions of cingular phones.
now i have 2 universal same issues one is jasjar on is Qtek9000 and i have seen other cingular USA customers on the forums using a universal and on 3g...
whats wrong? its not even letting me see it much less connect to it all i see is "G"
ok after much findings and a lot of searches the jasjar has 2100 while cingular is using 850/1900.
will cingular every use 2100 or is some mod to the radio rom possible? prob not but...
So can anyone advise if its possible to mod the radio rom to make the jasjar support 1900 UTMS?
or is this a hardware limitation?
if same hardware i don't see why it wouldn't be possible
i mean the phone does connect to 1900 for other services in USA why couldn't you hack the radio rom?
Same problem here. I can't understand why there is not a radio hack. What a waste of a good phone.

You might already be connected and you don't know. From what I know, the WM6 can't show the 3G icon, it always show G icon even when connected to 3G.
Have you read this thread and tried V2 of the 3G Icon? THREAD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293375
Please let me know if it works on yours. I don't have 3G SIM, but I do have Cingular. Thanks.
You cannot simply do a "radio hack" as that would be like putting a Dodge engine in a Chevy vehicle its just not that simple. Or a square box in a circular hole.
Also I believe the main reason is due to Cing/T Mo have no ownership in the 2Ghz spectrum (Sprint does though). T Mobile will be using the 1700 area for their 3G service which is brilliant as we will not have to colliding networks around the same specturm. However this begs the question on what will happen with unlocked 3G phones in the future.

The question is since the universal has 1900 and 2100 band, is umts being pushed over the 2100 band via the os or radio rom or even a setting in the registry. Or is this a hardware setting only.

Just wanted to bump this up, in case anyone is still looking. I just got my Universal, and these settings still work for me. (December 2010)
Thanks for this bump, hope will be useful for someone
Greetings,
As the title reads, my EDGE connection is completely worthless with Radio 1.46.00.11, 1.38 and 1.50. I've done the AT&T settings per their Web site and also tried the advice on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335388
Right now I'm using Schap's 4.30 ROM, but have had the same problems with the factory ROM. My MEdia Net settings are isp.cingular and [email protected], etc--everything as all the advice I've found has it.
With "E" signal and four bars, calls will not dial. Data connects will fail for "an unknown reason" and I cannot even manually switch to GSM 850 + 1900. I've scoured this forum to no avail.
3G and HSDPA, when I get it, work like a charm.
Can anyone give me advice on how to solve the problem?
I want to use UMTS with my provider, o2 Germany! When I do a hardreset, I can see the 3G icon shortly, the device is searching again for a network and for now I can only use GPRS (EDGE isn't available for o2 in Germany )!
Do you have any idea what's my mistake?
BTW:
I have an USIM (UMTS enabled SIM card)!
Should work
I had the same issue after 3G worked for quite some time. I called the o2 support and they said umts was disabled for my account for an unknown reason. they disabled the block and voila, UMTS was there again.
It seems that the dual has a buggy 3G implementation which might incompatible with the o2 network to some extend but since then I was always able log in to 3G.
However, HSDPA (recently activated in my region) is a complete different story... My Dual connects via HSDPA and the occasionally freezes (do you encounter them?) get worse and drive me mad... Only disabling HSDPA makes the device usable. So... since I got the InternetPackM (200MB free) I'm so eagerly awaiting an update fixing this most annoying freezing issue.
Cheers,
jekk.
I'am using this Radio ROM http://www.4shared.com/file/38171399/87021e95/RUU_Nike_Radio_1582514_25693005P.html, it's running smooth and there is nothing changed except the touch.dll, and HTC Touch Dual German Shipping ROM with S600 touch.dll and it's working very nice. No Problems with UMTS!
@jekk:
That was it! My number wasn't enabled for UMTS, what a **** from o2! >.<

You've linked a modded Polaris Radio! I'm using the Sedna radio as you could read in my signature!
