What's a riper ? Which web site I could check out ?
I took my unit at Wanchai Circle store(collection point) and O2 promised me 3 days SW upgrade ..

Thanks
I juat send it to HK for upgrade, the reason are the same as you have(phone hangs and softreset doesn't work), it is really good if they could fix the problem. anyway, my XDAII is from synergy I think
Sent it Saturday PM and got it Tuesday PM...
Talked to Debbie Cheung and she's good !
SW is now 14 from 13... feels faster..
But my unit had been opened ...??? :x
Just wondering why... ? will call them tomorrow..
Anyone try to install the update with XDAII(i-mate one),It make my XDA II not vibrate!!
A bit offtopic for this thread...
Interesting to see quite a few people in HK with XDA. Anyone knows if there's any good shops/places in HK to buy (cheap?) 2nd hand XDAs?
So i'm in saudi arabia now for the holidays and i'm going to trade my K-Jam (Wizard) in for a jasjam. Today i stopped by the Axiom service center, which is one of the most popular warranty providers here, and i asked them about the screen alignment issue and the guy told me he's had no problems with the JasJam.. is that right? I've looked in the wiki and didn't notice anything about the JasJam so i just wanted to make sure.
My other quetions pertain to rom's and programs but i guess i could figure all that out when i get the baby in my hands. But is there anything else i should be aware of before hand?
Thanks in advance and i look forward to moving over to the Hermes thread!

Well as regards the Screen Alignment problem I believe this is far less of an issue than it was. I do still see the odd comment though, that someone with a newer device has a problem.
You are obviously not new to the forum and I guess you've looked around the Hermes posts but maybe this one is relevant?

Might also want to search a bit on video playback issues regarding the likes of Coreplayer (TCPMP) where there have been issues. Also some issues with bluetooth might be worth searching. Wifi range maybe an issue 10-15metres ok but weak over this distance. One or two with slack/loose sliding keyboards - check if possible for firm clicks on open and closed when buying. Less of an issue now but some keyboards have slightly unresponsive keys - work but need very firm or firmer press again check on purchasing if possible.
Just some thoughts, despite any niggles a great device.
Mike
Thanks for your reply. As for software issues, i've read posts about them and figured thats something i'd deal with when i get the device, i'm mainly concerned about hardware issues. Wifi is pretty useless to me on a daily basis because i have the unlimitted data package, which i abuse to the MAX! that brings another question, hows the batter with a data connection always on? because the nokia N80 doesn't last through the day with its UMTS bands on.
The sliding mechanism, even if i knew nothing about the device, thats something i'd automaticly check, the sliding integrity. Also i remember about 2 months ago reading about issues with the sticky/hard keys, i'll check that out as well, but pretty sure most stores won't let me put the battery in it till i pay and after that i have to deal with the company that the device's warranty is under.j
i'm gonna do some more snooping around in the hermes thread but what bluetooth issues are you talking about specifically? i don't use a bt headset, but i might buy a stereo one if the battery can handle about 4 hours of music playback a day. Also that fossil/sony ericsson BT watch looks pretty neat, might grab one of those as well, but i just treated myself to a Concord Saratoga with the chronographs 3 days ago so don't need another watch
Thank you mike for your input and i'm really excited to get this device! i'm supposed to attend 2 christmas parties tonight, pretty sure i'm either going to be in the corner playing with my JasJam or at my parents place watching it charge!
Happy playing with new toy!
The bluetooth thing is more software than hardware, the following will give you some idea:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=287100&highlight=stack
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=287210&highlight=stack
I cannot really summarise as I don't really use bluetooth myself.

Thanks for your replies, i skipped my best friends X-Mas dinner to go buy my Hermes... haha, its ok he's a tech freak as well and he'll understand. Just plugged in my baby into the charger and my girlfiends jealous already so can't touch it for 8 hours... so my girlfriend will keep me occupied till then
Now i've got to figure out which is the best rom and and whats the best case for me... i don't want to put a scratch on this thing, unlike my K-Jam which looked like it went through a war!!
Thanks again, heading over to the upgrading and accessories thread to bug some people there

I was wondering if there was gonna be something like Touch Pro's ... let's call it case in the box.
Yes, but thats absolutely what I don't want, because the xperia would be not usable in this case (my most important point: audio jack and leds..). I thought of something "flippable" (if this word exists..) greez^^
Krusell has made a bag special for Xperia but I wouldn't recommend it, I have one and it is hard to fell out the keyboard. The phone stucks and it is almost impossible to get the phone out.
I had a bag from Krusell made for the HTC Tytn and never had the same problem with that one.
i use the bag that comes with nokia md-4
it cost me only 10 pounds around 20usd md-4 goes very well for x1 too

Provided you live in Germany
Has anyone bought a case for their xperia yet? Could you offer some advice?
I've been looking at three alternatives:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/2502-Genuine-Sony-Ericsson-Executive-Case-IEC-20-Reviews.htm
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/15739.htm?referer=FR_CASES-PR-P-15739
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=174632
Out of the 3 I like the Krussel the best but I can't see a 3.5" jack hole in it which could be a problem. What do you all suggest? (I'm in the UK)
i`ve modified the htc diamands`s pocket pooch for big bickpack battery.
this will fit extremly exact and has got a nice look and feel.
The first one IEC-20 does not fit the Xperia
but the second one ICE-40 is perfect.

Anyone got a picture of the back of ICE-40? I want a horizontal case.
in germany we get a free case for registration....

For two older devices from me I have already bought cases and all of them are very very good. Perfrect quality, but not the cheapest one.

I really enjoy those stock earphones that came with my Play, good quality, durable and song pausing/skipping. But just recently mine broke so I snagged my sisters earphones (Xperia Neo's) which she never used, Didnt fit her ears. SADLY I lost those and have been missing them for one week :silly:
To me it has always been quite opposite, regular earmuffs dont fit at all and I have to correct them all the time while my Xplays muffs were perfect.
I have been searching but couldnt find any store that sells them, is there any way to re-purchase these earphones ?
I have seen few somewhat similar models but I want this specific model if its possible.
If there is no way to obtain those, then what specs should I look for incase Im going to buy ones that resemble my old earphones ?
Some Repair shop. Or mobile shop/service where they do sell the headphones
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Or eBay amazon etc
You might get Skullcandy Earphones somewhere going at a good price. They sound just about the same and have those nice rounded ear pieces.
But you can find the stock ones in your carriers outlet or in a mobile phone accessories shop
Powered by CyanogenMod™9!
Sony mobiles website has an accessories page with compatible headphones and better headphones for the xplay

Or just visit some "retail" shop of Sony or Sony certificated repair service.

Well sony mobile doesnt seem to have any stores here where I live and the place where I bought Xplay doesnt sell it anymore !
I found model named "Sony MH410c" but it apears to have those "bad" ear pieces. "MH750" looks similar but how does it compare ?
Seeing how its featured with newer Xperia phone models new question rises. I remember reading that Sony was going to change their 3.5mm standard (I heard there is 2 different "mainstream" standards), is this model "new" and would it work on xperia play (properly) ? I had some "touch problems" with these earphone + laptop compatibility, I always had to use my nail to raise the jack just slightly, this helped with balance and sound playing properly.
"MH650" look identical to those stock earphones, can someone confirm that they are ?
Im still having a hard time to find any retailer selling them :silly: uhh and Sony must be really retarded... I downloaded PDF file (documents) choosing my nation and language (finland), in return, I get a PDF written in swedish derp
Though file has "FI" in its name while swedish document has "SVE" even though they are identical.
So if there is any similar but relativly new options that are compatible with Xplay, then bring em up. I check some of already mentioned options.
What country are you from? You can have an shop like Best Buy but its eshop.

The MH650 are the stock earphones i got with my play.
You should get some Sennheiser earphones. I've got the CX400-II much better than stock.

If they arent atleast as long as stock ones and/or dont provide song pausing/skipping then Im not too interested I already have BIG sennheiser boomers and smaller ones (but they broke) and Sony's medium sized earphones. Xplays stock earplugs were perfect for me and fit in my pocket.
But case closed, I found nice retailer selling MH650's, I came here to drop sum tanks :silly:
Yours came with headphones?? Mine came with an adapter. That's it.
