username n password keep on poping up..

Settings are:
Username: your complete email, including '@gmail.com'
incoming server: pop.gmail.com
outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
Remember to enable pop3 access on the Settings panel in Gmail.

You have to use non-default port number for the SSL.
465 for outgoing
995 for incoming
so it's:
pop.gmail.com:995
smtp.gmail.com:465

ok I managed to retrieve my email but unfortunately I can't sending an email. so any idea?

Come to think of it, I was having this issue early on as well. I just used a different outgoing server to send my mails. Luckily my carrier provides a free email and I simply used their outgoing server settings for the gmail account and everything worked after that. If you have another mail account that works try setting the outgoing mail server on your gmail account to the other working server.

how if I dont have any. But why is it? Why gmail outgoing is not working?

My gmail is working fine on my jam. I don't use any special port numbers either. You need to go to the advanced section in account setup and select SSL and also check the authentication on send box. That worked for me.
Sometimes being connected with activesync can cause an email account to get blocked because the PC has been collecting emails.

Gmail working fine for me too, used EmailWiz to set it up. Newer version even includes gmail so takes about 30 secs (early version needed a couple more details). Might be worth deleting your current account and trying?
As you're receiving mail I guess you've turned the proxy settings on with your gmail account, that got me first time I tried.

IMAP yahoo.com Yes! and No!

Ok, From my understanding yahoo mail does not have IMAP. My mogul does have IMAP and receiving folders from yahoo mail. How do I get my outlook at home to mimic my titan????
Upgrade to Yahoo Mail Plus
Is your mogul still "sending" and receiving email??? I can still receive email, but can no longer send.
Yahoo send problem
Around noon yesterday I suddenly lost the ability to send messages from my yahoo account as well. Mail still comes in, I can send from other mail accounts, just not yahoo.
I gave it a day, deleted yahoo, and recreated the account using the 'auto setup' from sprint. That didn't fix the problem, so I'm on hold with sprint support right now. Talked to 2 people who were of no help - didn't even pass the problem on, just tranferred me, waiting for the good tech support now (25 minutes so far, glad I used the work phone and not my mogul!).
yea just had the same issue, VZW had no idea. Yahoo screwing things up?
Sprint support
36 minutes on the phone, 3 different "technicians", and the last one (the only one who had a clue) had me set my outgoing mail to smtp.sprintpcs.com instead of yahoo's.
It works, but is a definite work-around.

Alltel said to do the same thing. The only problem is that it does not show who it came from properly. By using their outgoing server, what do others see when receiving it? If it was just a personal account I would not mind, but this is my business account.
I got mine to work by entering the pop3 settings, but now all my personalized folders are gone.
any idea of what will work on verizon?

I am on Verizon and I have a Yahoo Plus account. I used the auto setup for yahoo.com and got IMAP for incoming, but it had issues with another setting. The Plus instructions on their pages only tell you about the POP3 Incoming service. This was not what I wanted because the IMAP4 service will allow you to sync more folders than just the inbox. After a couple of experiments, I found that by starting from scratch and setting up the account configuration manually, I could use IMAP for the incoming. All is good now!
Here are the settings I am using for IMAP4 for incoming and smtp for outgoing.
Incoming mail server:
imap.mail.yahoo.com
Account type:
IMAP4
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server:
plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
From the Outgoing configuration page-
Advanced Server Settings
SSL NOT Required for Incoming e-mail ****IMPORTANT****
SSL IS Required for Outgoing e-mail
Good luck

Yes It Works With Verizon - Free Yahoo
Hi Everyone,
New here, but loving it. The Messaging Application will work "sometimes" with the free yahoo accounts, because Yahoo blocks access to their SMTP server unless you have a Yahoo Plus! account.
HOWEVER - Verizon and Yahoo have a partnership.
Just adjust your settings to use Verizon's outgoing email server.
Incoming Mail Server:imap.mail.yahoo.com
Account type is IMAP4
Outgoing Mail Server:smtp.vzwmail.net
[x] Outgoing server requires authentication
[ ] Use the same user name and password for sending email
Outgoing Server Login:
Username: (yourphonenumber)@vzwmail.net
Password: The password you set up for www.vtext.com
This isn't really a workaround... it's the solution. You're still using your yahoo account, but Verizon's outgoing mail servers are doing the sending instead of yahoo's so that you can do it for "free" by paying Verizon instead of yahoo. Hope this helps!
What a valuable first post, mogulecule! Thanks. I happen to have VZW and two Yahoo accounts: One is Plus ($20 a year), the other free. I'll try this and report back if they behave differently.

Hi guys.
New to the forum.
Im having a problem with my xperia and free yahoo account. Mine is setup to IMAP4. But when i try to download e-mails from my account i get a prompt to enter my password. I enter it and the prompt comes back up again saying incorrect when its isnt.
Will it not let me in as im trying to use yahoo SMTP with a free account as you state. If i upgrade my account will it work.
I setup a test gmail account and that is POP3 and everthing works fine.
Any ideas.
I use System Seven and the only problem I've had is, it did not work with m2d, kept restarting m2d. But love it, works great.

Outgoing Pop email won't send

[[X-posted to PPCGeeks, please don't hold it against me]]
Hi,
I experienced this before and it's very strange. I have a pop account forwarded from Yahoo. I have the premium Yahoo mail so they let me do this with the following proxies:
pop: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
smtp: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
the incoming stuff works fine, the outgoing for about 2 days has been saying that it can't send any messages out.
What is going wrong? I have tried creating a new Yahoo account.
I've tried assigning the outgoing mail server to Sprint as opposed to "The Internet"
I've tried taking off the plus at the beginning and turning off SSL required.
NOTHING has worked.
Any help would be most appreciated.
SMTP is used to send OUTGOING mail..the POP server handles the incoming mail.
You will need to set your SMTP server to : smtp.sprintpcs.com (or whatever carrier your're using's SMTP server)
Assuming you are on Sprint AND you have a dataplan/PCS mail account :
You will need to know you Sprint PCS MAIL login (do not put in the @sprintpcs.com part) and password (which is not always the same as the PCS Vision password used to setup your Dial-up from your phone).
You can reset the password on the Sprint site, you have to hunt around for it though.
PCS mail is going to be dropped by Sprint at the end of this year, so be prepared for that once you get it working.
I had a similar problem using GMAIL, and I fixed it by un-clicking the Server requires a SSL connection for outgoing mail. In your mailbox settings you can change that

Talk21 IMAP settings for android and win mobi

Don't settle for pop3, when IMAP works with talk21 and not only does mail get pushed out faster with IMAP, but when you click refresh it will be received faster than pop3.
The other advantage is subfolders are also supported with IMAP but cant be seen with POP3.
This mail feature works with my android eclair & hero phone and the settings are exactly the same for win mobiles also (not tested). The mail setting up roadmap is the same from what i can remember once in the mail feature for win mobi.
This is what you need to do to setup Talk21 email with IMAP.
Incoming server settings
IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 143
Security type - none
Outgoing Server settings
SMTP server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 25
Security type - none
Also important note - Enable 'require sign-in'
and enter your talk21 username and password
The End...works a treat for me
p.s. Its only taken me 3 years to work it out with win mobile and recently with android. Finally got it to work...hope this helps all the talk21 users out there. if there are any other similar posts out there with no answer...dont forget to mention my name when passing this post around.
RichPie and Tej2020 are both right. Thanks for those posts on the differing forums.
I also found though that some of the older talk21 accounts no matter if you follow those instructions still don't validate the username.
Solution:
Login to your BT Yahoo email account with your [email protected] username and password.
Go to settings and forward your mail (temporarily) to another email account.
You will get a verification email in that account for security.
You'll probably see that the username is not [email protected] but [email protected]
Now here's the trick.
Go back to your BT Yahoo email.
Don't forget to disable the forwarding of email (otherwise you'll never get any new emails in this account).
Logout.
Now try logging in as [email protected] and your usual password.
Same account right?
Follow RichPie's instructions (below) for allowing the email to be POP'ed.
1./ Log into you talk21.com account:
options
Mail options
POP3 & Forwarding
click on "allow forwarding"
Save.
Now in your phone setup your email with
Setting up the mail use these:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - mail.btinternet.com
Port - 110
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - mail.btinternet.com
Port - 25
and crucially, the username and password must be [email protected] with your password as this seems to be a migrated username/password combination on the migration of the talk21 accounts into Yahoo and is a popp'able account.
This should work.

EMAIL setup for NTLWORLD (Virgin) on O2 please?

Hi there,
I had the EMAIL working ok until Virgin updated their EMAIL setup a couple of months back, but now I seem to be having trouble whatever I try (keeps int deleting EMAIL's + having problems sending/receiving sometimes).
Thanks, Mark.
Check your settings:
Your Name
Your name as you would like it to appear to others when you send them an e-mail. We recommend entering your real name, although any name can be used.
E-mail address
Your Virgin Media e-mail address. Remember that the part after the @ symbol should correspond to your type of account, e.g., [email protected].
Account Type
POP3
Incoming mail server
pop3.virginmedia.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
smtp.virginmedia.com
User Name
Use entire e-mail address.
e.g., [email protected]
Password
Enter the password for your e-mail account. If you don't know the password for your account you can reset it using the forgotten password tool in My Virgin Media.
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
Unticked/No
Thanks for that,
Is that an updated version (since they changed things a couple of months back) or working setups off your phone?
Also I had an O2 address (mail.o2.co.uk) on the outgoing server, as I had trouble sending in the 1st place and this cures things?
Also should the setup be the same for @virginmedia.co.uk addresses as @ntlworld.co.uk ones?
Cheers.

I know - I've done that in the past and with the settings they give it would only let you receive EMAIL's and not send them.
I'm not sure if the settings on there are just for mobiles on the Virgin network?
I wanted to be able to send/receive EMAIL's with O2.
I would have looked on the Virgin site myself if I had not tried them in the past and not bothered people on here.
That's the reason that I had to use the mail.o2.co.uk address for the outgoing server before (as it would not send EMAIL's from the settings they supplied on Virgin's site).
Nope - just tried the settings supplied for the NTLWorld EMAIL address on the Virgin site and they still don't work Dude (saying to check my account information when sending/receiving).

If i remember correctly to send now you have to use ssl encryption on the smtp connection and specify the same log in details as for the incoming pop connection (the smtp servers are no longer open). The reason for this is that when it was ntl/blueyonder the smtp servers would only respond to certain ip address' so any further security was not needed.

Ok - thanks for that.

if you are using a data connection then set it to mail.o2.co.uk and make sure the connction is using o2 mobile
if you are using wifi at home thru the VM connection then you can use smtp.ntlworld.com
I had the same problem when Virgin introduced there "improved" email and this is how I solved it....
!!!!!! NOTE: REQUIRES A GOOGLE (gmail) ACCOUNT FOR THIS TO WORK !!!!!!!!!!
Create your account along the lines of -
Email Address - [email protected]
Name - Fred Bloggs
Account Display Name - Ntlworld
Incoming mail server - [email protected]
Account type - IMAP4
User Name - [email protected]
Password - *****
Save Password - YES
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server - smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server requires authentication - YES
Use the same user name/password for sending email - NO
Outgoing Server login - [email protected]
Password - *****
Save password - YES
You then then tailor the size/frequency of the messages to your choice.

Sorry, but just checking - you have to setup a GMail account for this to work - I was wondering when you send somebody a message if it shows as from the NTL World EMAIL address or the GMail one?
Cheers, Mark.
Hi there,
Thanks for all the replies - I think I may have sussed it now with a combination of peoples replies and also using O2's server for the outgoing mail.
I can now send/receive + also delete EMAIL's off the server so they don't come through on my PC once I have deleted and done a send/receive on the phone.
Cheers, Mark.
I was also wondering about the IMAP4 setting on the mobile - does this mean that everything on the server is also stored on the phone as well, so you have old EMAIL's on your phone as well?
Does this slow the HD2 down, as it would be handy to have some of the older EMAIL's in folders on the phone.
It sends it from the gmail address.... All I have got in my folders is the stuff in my inbox... BTW what settings did you end up using for both the outgoing and sending?
Regards,
Alan
Hi there,
I got these settings E-Mailed from Virgin in the end (like the ones posted by somebody else earlier, but with info on the SSL + ports etc (not that I think you can setup the ports on the HD2).
It seems to work all ok now with even being able to delete messages off the server as well.
Cheers, Mark.
Thanks for getting in touch with the Virgin Media Support team.
The details for your email account settings are below.
Incoming Mail Server - pop3.virginmedia.com
Outgoing Mail Server- smtp.virginmedia.com
Username - Full email address including @ntlworld.com
Password - Your email password
Outgoing server requires authentication - Yes
Incoming Server Port - 995
SSL Required - Yes
Outgoing Server Port - 465
SSL Required - Yes
If you are going to be receiving emails to more than one device you will
need to use 'Recent' mode in order to facilitate this. To do this simply
add 'recent:' to the start of the username in your account settings on
your email client so if your username was '[email protected]' it
would become 'recent:[email protected]'.

CHARTER.net setup issue

Hi, I am having a problem sending Email from my Charter.net account. It cannnot send Email and fails. I setup the SMTP server with mobile.charter.net and Port 587 (TLS and Authentication). Anybody else with the same issue with default Email or Gmail client?
I setup my Charter account in the Gmail app. It auto discovered all my settings this time. The Gmail app set the incoming server to mobile.charter.net port 993 SSL/TLS. Outgoing server is mobile.charter.net port 587 SSL/TLS.

Just tried again in Gmail and the outgoing Email stayed in the Outbox and it failed. I have the same setting as you above.
Gotta ask but is your password correct? Same credentials allow you to login into Charter webmail? Tried Wifi vs 4G? Link to Charter settings http://www.charter.net/support/internet/email-settings/

Yes password is correct cause I can read all my Emails but not send which is very odd. I can login to Webmail without problem. Tried to check/uncheck Authentication required without success. 4G or Wifi does not make a difference.

Just did a factory reset. The Charter account will only install with the manual setup. Make sure the outgoing port 587 is set to SSL as it defaults to TLS during the initial setup. I originally used the automatic detect and that port 587 always stayed on TLS. Thx
Looks like it doesn't save the 587 port setting if you have a different default email account setup on the S7. We have an Corporate ActiveSync email account as the first account on the phone. Was on hold for almost an hour with Samsung and just got cutoff.
Some of this (port numbers, etc) depend on if you follow Charter's settings for mobile (i.e. not directly on their network to start) or home (i.e. wifi). They put extra security if on mobile (i.e. the 993 port), and I also think they mess with things if you are on wifi, and won't work right. PITA, but it is how they do it in Central MA. So some of this may depend on Wifi vs. t-mobile network access to the charter.net server.
YMMV...
I think T-Mobile is causing the problem
I suspect T-mobile might be barring connections to charter.net. With the correct setup, my phone will send email to charter via my WiFi but not through t-mobile direct. Using K-9 email client, I get back:
