Re: QTEK 2020i.
We have content developed for mobile platforms that works succesfully in the O2 XDAii.
This consists of a flash object, which calls a javascript method, which then links back to an index page.
After some considerable time experimenting with this, it seems that links cause pocket IE to crash if there is a Flash object loaded into the page.
Does anyone have any experience of this problem, or know of a fix?
I've attached an example of what we want to do, which needs extracting, then launch bys_words.htm, and do the match upper and lower case letters game. When you hit the green arrow at the end, it should work on a desktop, and crash pocket IE on the phone.
This is a complicated example, but it seems to happen with just a simple link, and a flash object.

I was annoyed that the atom did not have a little program like the "running programs" on the mini, so it got me thinking about replacing it. Instead of accessing the memory manager I made a little app to put on my today launcher (see my sig) so I could get a list of the processes.
The program itself works (even though I think I did it a bit back to front) but there is one problem. In all versions of the os before wm5 my listview works fine. In wm5 the state image list, ie using LVSIL_STATE dose not work. I do not have any programing tools for wm5 and I cant find any info regarding how it handles state images. Any info would be appreciated.
Also is there a way to get an icon onto the recently used programas list in the start menu - without putting the exe/lnk into the start menu folder?
Here is the program if anyone wants to try it
http://odeean.veritel.com.au/ORDprocessManager/processManager.exe
I also found that using
ListView_SetImageList(hwndListView, himlTopLevel, LVSIL_STATE);
screwed up the imagelist used by the file explorer. I would not have expected the explorer to use a state image list to hold the file etc icons, and why should my one have anything to do with it. In the other versions of the os the imagelist one creates belong to the listview and get cleaned up by it when it is destroyed.
the ImageList_AddIcon also fails.
I found the cause.
For years I have been putting 0 in the flags parameter of ImageList_Create.
It always worked because I think it defaults to ILC_COLOR4. The atom has an 18bit colour depth so I guess it needs to be more specific. I tried ILC_COLOR and it worked fine with no more explorer problems. This leaves the question about why the explorer was effected, a bit worrying.
This tiny app takes 2 seconds to do its thing on the XDA 1 and 4 seconds on the atom. Sad, very sad.
...the new version is on the link above now. I noticed that on wm5 cprog comes up as safe to stop (it shouldn't) so don't press stop all if you want your phone to work.
Hi All
When visiting a site I get an error message.
This web page contains too many frames and cannot be displayed,Iexplorer mobile can only display pages with 10 or fewer frames
Any clues ??
_^.^_
yeah, there are to many frames in the website.
in effect a frame in PIE is a seperate window, such that you can manipulate the size of each window, usually, top, bottom, left right, and middle, but obviously the developers made this with to many, such that it cant fit all frames in and still make them sizable.
suggest you just use a basic pc to hit this one, there aint no amount of creative manipulation gonna get your PIE onto that site. maybe the other alternative browsers might, but i dont use them.
I created a little application in C# with VS2005 using the latest WM PocketPC SDK. It contains a form with a WebBrowser component which I fill with the help of the DocumentText property. When I put in short HTML segments that don't trigger the scrollbar everything is fine. As soon as I give it a little longer text the scrollbar appears but the component begins refreshing over and over again like I would set the DocumentText property all over again.
I don't have a clue what triggers this behaviour im definetly only setting the DocumentText property once and not in some kind of timer or thread.
I tried to google for it but no solution turned up.
Anybody ever ran into this problem or even better know how to fix it?
Hey everyone,
I developed this app as a part of my final year project. Initially I had big plans for it (I still feel that PPC lacks strong apps in this area.. OneNote doesn't cut it for me), but got busy with work/studies and forgot all about it.
I have also created a web version for it (sync your data with a web url), but thats too alpha at the moment. If anyone wants to beta test it, please let me know.
I'm uploading the last versions I made of this app to gather some bug reports, problems, crashes, new features etc which people might be interested in.
Keep in mind, I want this app to be so good that people can finally leave their paper notebooks home
I know some things aren't working well or at all, for e.g. synchronization.
Play around with the buttons (the tooltips etc should tell you what they're for)
Features:
arrange data in notebooks and pages. (basically you create a notebook and then insert a page into it..)
There are two modes.. view/edit.. edit mode gives you basic text input where you can format text using the following wiki syntax (effect of formatting is only visible in view mode):
*text* - bold
\text\ - italic
_text_ - underline
+ (add more pluses upto 6) gives you heading (e.g. ++My heading)
~color:green~ any text after this will be green. you can use this for most named colors
[link to another page] link between pages (linking will automatically happen if you use CamelCase/wiki syntax.. you can enforce linking by putting [Notebook/Page name] <-- in square brackets as such. Links can be renamed as well [[renamed link][Notebook/ActualPage]]
You can insert images using the button/menu options. these images are imported into the notebooks directory.
Search notes
tag notes
bookmark notes (you can even bookmark searches, the stored search will be re-run every time, so for e.g. if you bookmark a search with dates later than last week, then it'll give you new results every time)
Maintain clipboard history and auto insert copied stuff into current page. (keyboard is polled every second)
Most important feature:- You can just copy over your notebooks/bookmarks directory (or sync it using any sync tool), and the same notebooks/pages/bookmarks will be available on both PPC and Win32.
Download:
http://ace.xhaven.net/DN-Win32-PPC.zip
Installation:
- Just unzip the win32 and PPC directories to your desktop and PDA.. click on the exe to run program. Should work on wm2003/wm5/wm6
Known bugs/issues:
- clipboard isn't working on PPC
- PPC version is slower, doesn't have softkey support yet
- PPC Icons look wierd
- .... add more?
Disclaimer:
I make no claims that this will work properly, or even execute on your desktop/PPC. I dont owe you anything. Please try this at your own risk.
no one tried it yet?
Nice Idea
Thanks,
This is great idea, i tested the note book, it is good.
But quite difficult to use on mobile, can u change the interface to make it easy to understand and write.
You're right, the PPC version is not that easy to use. Hopefully I'll get some time on this weeked to fix that up, as well as allowing common actions to be performed using hard/soft keys.

Yes that would be cool, waiting for your new version.
Pocket Wikipedia, hand-checked selection from Wikipedia which is about the size of a fifteen volume encyclopaedia (24,000 images and 14 million words).
It includes the best of Wikipedia as well as many thousands of pages of extra material specifically selected to be of interest to children who follow the UK National Curriculum and similar curricula elsewhere in the world. The articles have been cleaned up and checked for suitability for children.

Fails on HTC Touch HD with Opera
On my HD, any menu item in Pocket Wikipedia launches the link in Opera, which is unable to process any further clicked links.
It seems PW launches the default browser, where it should really stick to embedding an IE control. Any PW links should trigger a decompression of the topic from the huge file, which doesn't happen with Opera.
Does anyone know of a workaround?
Same problem here. It starts Opera Mobile instead of IE.
I tried making Opera Mobile the NON-default browser (by unchecking the "set default browser" box in the setting menu). PW was able to launch IE but IE just got stuck with the screen helplessly blinking. No Wiki text! No messages whatsoever! Had to shut down IE manually.
Wonder if Anyone could get PW working.
There is big problems with special chars like é, à, î, etc...
I shifted to WikiPock, far better despite a little cost.. Works like a charm
