Installed the Himalaya ROM successfully on my XDA II phone but my activesync refuses to sync my Contacts, Tasks, Calander and files. It recognises my divice and connects to but fails to sync the files.
can someone please help me here.
XP Sp2 installed win Outoolk 2003.
have you made outlook your default program as that does stop a sync from happening as i run 2 different email programs and that always catches me out

Hi
I need some help as I am having problems with synchronizing the contacts and calendar from my recently purchased O2 XDA Mini S and my laptop which is running XP pro SP2 and outlook 2003. Activesync loads and configures starts synchronizing and then shows that all was synchronized however no data actually moves although when Activesync is going through the motions it shows the amount it is synchronizing but as stated nothing actually moves across either way. I tested this with a new appointment on different days in calendar but after it syncs no data had moved. I have upgraded to Activesync 4.1 and reset the device ids but still no good. The last thing I tried was to follow the advice on the WM website as I am running Trend virus guard this did not work so I shut this off again did not work. Can anyone help I would appreciate this, thanks.

Hi All,
I just got a MDA Vario (HTC Wizard) from T-mobile (UK) and installed Activesync 4.1 OK (well it caused my Windows XP machine to crash before I updated the Nforce2 Motherboard drivers!).
Now, I can install & remove programs OK.
But I can't get my emails and contacts etc from Windows Outlook 2003 (Office Pro 2003 SP2) to my Vario - even though activesync does a synchronisation??
Also contacts generated on the Vario don't end up on the PC outlook 2003 either??
Any ideas ? Before I have to manually enter all my contacts & addresses??
Cheers
John
for me active sync works first time out of the box.
you chould have a look at all the options and make sure they look sensible. Under options-->sync options. make sure contacts is ticked and settings look correct to you.
As your device is new, I believe you are entitled to free support from microsoft for 60 days and for tmobile for the life of your contract. I don't know about tmobile support but I have always found the microsoft technical helpline extremely good, and surprisingly few consumers use it!

Thanks for that - it must be something to do with mt desktop PC as I loaded Activesync 4.1 on my centrino laptop and got my contacts onto my MDA without any problems? Both are using the same Windows XP Corp so I don't think it's a windows issue and the only real difference between the laptop and the Desktop is that there is a ADSL/Router with Firewall connected to the Desktop, which may be upsetting the transfer of data from Outlook?
I did try a Bluetooth connection but that didn't work either??
Strange that I can load/unload programs, browse my PDA through Activesync but I cannot exchange data from Outlook 2003 to the PDA??
this could also be a problem with your outlook profiles. i.e. it could be that it is syncing, but with a new profile that does not include your old data. Have a look at the outlook options.
The extreme way to deal with it, is to export or backup all your outlook contacts and diary and other data. Uninstall outlook, rebnoot and make sure you delete the folder under program files. Then reinstall fresh. Setup to sync with PDA and then reimport all your old settings. Although this is a last resort.
Well do to a corruption of my root hard drive MBR I had to reformat and re-install windows (A nice long job!) - and would you believe it, that the newly installed activesync is now working properly - ie emails and contacts are synchronised on both the Desktop PC and my Vario???
Oh well I'll know next time !
Cheers

my xda works perfectly fine with outlook 2002, but when i switched to outlook 2003 there is some sort of problem with active sync, it says over and over again 'outlook isn't installed on my computer so can't synchronise the contacts and calender. however even with outlook 2003 it does synchronise the inbox.
how do i resolve the issue?
using latest activesync ?
No issue for me using ms outlook 2003. Please get ms active sync 4.2 from microsoft web site.
hav tried both ms activesync 4.2 and 3.8 with outlook 2003, both of 'em giv the same problem.
new problem now, when i tried installing outlook 2002 on the new comp., during the installation process i recieve an error message 'can't continue installation, as instalation source is corrupted'. so now i'm stuck, help me out plz.
hey, can someone help me out here...im going CRAZY!!!
I'm running on Vista, Outlook 2007, WM6 PV3.
I get this error message on Windows Mobile Device Center:
View status%ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop.
I've been able to sync just fine but for some reason, I tried today and I got that message. I restarted to phone and computer, deleted the partnership and created a new one. It even erased all my contacts and calender data on the phone. Anyone know how I can get it to sync again without un-installing outlook?
i've got imate k-jam, i've installed recently ms outlook 2007(on windows xp) and i can only sync the non outlook items i cannot sync contacts, e-mail, etc.
following error message:
you will be able to synchronise only files, folders, and other non outlook items if you continue.
to synchronize e-mail, calender, contacts, tasks and notes with this computer, do the following:
disconnect device, install and run outlook, and then reconnect the device and complete the synchronazation setup wizard.

Try to delete your device in ActiveSync and install new user.
many thanks for help.yes i did but it didnt help.i uninstall all office 2007 and active sync than i installed office 2003 and act sync 4.5 but still it doesn't work.i thought maybe firewall issue.i switch windows firewall but no luck.there is no extra firewall software on my laptop just windows sp2 and orginal windows firewall and avg free e
ition antivirus have got..what can i do?thanks in advance.
I have this problm in the past and just delete your device. When connect, MS Outlook should ask the profile you want to connect and creat a new profile with an other name. This way for me, it worked!
i will try that thanks for helping me.
