Hello !
Can you help me to change the sms sended (in italian is Messaggio Inviato)sound ?
That is the sound notify that you receive when you send sms.
I hope you'll understand me, because my english is really poor
Thanks
Not sure about your device. I have a Magician but the sms notification sound can be changed by tapping Start->Settings->[Personal Tab] then tap Sounds and Notifications, then click the Notifications tab and you can change whatever system sound you want to a different one.
Hope this helps.
Thanks ppc4.
But in my settings(I have Qtek2020i) I don't think to have that setting.
I refer to the sound of the "balloon" showing your message is sended
I think that probably this sound is stored in \Windows and could be changed with an other with the same name.
Now the problem is that I don't know the name of this file....
Can you help me?
I think you're talking about the little "doink" sound when the sms is sent. This file is in the windows folder and is called "Default.wav".
It is a system file and can be overwritten but I'm not sure if the standard File Explorer will let you do that or not. You may have to get something "Resco File Explorer" to allow you to overwrite it.
Thank a lot !
You've understood perfectly my request
The last question.
The "default.wav" is referred to sms notify only ?
Or other apps use this sound ?
Ya, I was going to warn you about that. Other apps will use this sound as well whenever the default sound is needed by the OS. So, if you really want to change that sound, make it something that won't annoy you if it's used elsewhere. I can't really recall whatever system functions use it. The suggestion would be to change it to your liking and see it how it goes for a few days. You can always change it back.
Effectively after your consideration I think that the best thing is try for few days and verify if ths sounds of the other apps change also.
Because I would like to generate a female vocie that say me "Message sent" (but in Italian "Messaggio Inviato").
I think this voice couldn't be good with other apps
Thank you very much for your useful suggestions

HI All. This one is, I think, is a relatively straightforward query. I want to change the default sound that's played when an SMS has been sent. I CAN'T see an option to change it in the 'Sounds and Notification' icon
Hi, im no expert at modifing things but i have to anwser this as i can't see 36 viewings and no one has answered you, i hate it when that happens.
If anyone else has any ideas then please post them but what i would do is find the sound file that makes that default sound i.e default.wav (no idea if this is actuly the file) and rename the sound file i would like to use the same name i.e default.wav. its problt best to back up the original before you do this coz the default sound is probly used for other things too
Hope this works and i also hope some1 else has a better plan
Thanks jab1a. That's what i like...a good logical solution (no wonder I missed it!
Every time i send a text message i get a bell and a box come up telling me my remaining credit. This is all very well but i cannot silence this bell. Even if i turn all the volume sliders onto silent and uncheck the play sounds boxes in the sounds settings.
anyone help me get rid of this ?
thanks.

anyone help with this ? i thought i must be able to just delete the wav it uses (notify.wav) but its in the rom and doesnt go.
It's really annoying that even with the vol sliders all the way down and the sound unchecked this sound STILL plays
anyone help ? please !!
I had the same problem with the message sent sound, it really got on my nerves! Just create a silent wav sound in Nero wave editor or a similar application and then transfer it to your wizard's windows directory to overwrite the existing one. sorted!
tried that, i created another notify.wav but cos the original is in rom it wont let me overwrite
ok following a recommendation to use total commander to do the copying, i did, and it worked.
Not sure how, as the original file is a read only file in ROM but nevertheless it worked. Windows explorer using the pc to browse/copy whilst synced wouldnt do it.
Cheers,
malty
I searched the registry, found nothing, searched through some folders and found nothing either.
So as the subject says, is it possible to change these types of sounds? I've got some great sounds in mind. E.g. the sonic the hedgehog ring, for this event in particular.
... For new text I have the sonic 2 - 1 up sound
If you could help that would be great!
Hay there, yep this can be done, thou first you need the new message or notifcation clip to be a .wav file type, so you need to convert the items to wav first.
Once you done that place the newly converted wav file into the windows folder, not into windows>rings like you would do for ringtones.
Then goto settings, and notifcation and sound menu and select the new one there.
Hope this helps.
Ooo
I've been trying to figure this out, how could I change the sound that plays in my ear for callwaiting? lol i feel stupid because I can't figure this out!!!
Thanks!
Yup, I am not too happy in this realm as well. My busy tone sounds like a Modem that is trying to handshake, and that is when it decides that it is going to alert me. I would really like to swap out some of that stuff.
I beleive my expertise will come in handy here
There are many sounds which can be changed which ARE NOT visible in the "Sounds And Notifications" control panel. They can be accessed by pointing your reg editor of choice to...
"HKey_Current_User\ControlPanel\Sounds"
We'll take the busy tone as an example...
Navigate to "HKey_Current_User\ControlPanel\Sounds\BusyTone"
In there you'll see:
(Default)..................(value not set)
Catagory..................InCall
Script.......................apr
Sound......................HTCBusy.wav
Change the sound one to any file on your pda. (Must be an mp3 or a wave file) (Include the full path if the sound file isn't in "/windows") The changes should take effect immediately, if they don't you've not done it correctly...
Hope this helps you all...
Note: To my knowledge, you can't change the message sent tone, sorry...

Is there anyway to have a custom text message ring or a custom alarm ring?

PS Generic answer: sure!
Yes. But first, a suggestion (actually two):
You'll get a much better/faster response if you make your thread title more descriptive... "T-Mobile MDA" could mean anything! And in a forum dedicated to this device, it's sort of redundant.
And for the second suggestion... well, not to give you grief, but your question is *very* basic. You could probably figure it out by reading the manual, or poking around on your MDA. Not a subject really worthy of its own thread.
That said, here's the answer:
Go into Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications. There are two tabs; play around with what you see there. You can set sounds to most things that you do or that happen on your MDA. If you have a custom or special sound that you want, copy the sound file into the My Documents folder on your MDA; and then you will be able to select it in the Play Sound selection box on the Notifications tab.
Okay, sorry about the title, newbie issue.
But please don't assume that I haven't read the manual. Yes I have already done numberous times what you have suggested, I have plenty of files, but for some reason custom files are only compatible for ring tones. So unless you can provide me new information without being condescending as to the simplicity of the question, then don't provide anything.
Sorry for my tone, it just goes back to the saying about assuming.
New sms Tones
What you need to do is to put the sound you are after, in the form of a wav file into the windows folder on your device. It then appears in the drop down list in "Sounds & Notifications".
You can get some good tones from http://www.spbclub.com/index.php . You will need to register but they also have some great tips there to.
Hope this is of use.
OK, sorry... I really didn't mean to condescend or patronize.
Ixtana's post was good: Have you tried WAV files instead of MP3s?
I have some mp3 files in my storage card.
I am aware of software line mRing , Ringo etc. but is it possible to use mp3 files as ringtone from Storage card WITHOUT using 3rd party software ?
Any registry settings to change the ringtone folder from main memory to storage card ?
also, whether or not the above is possible, what is the best mp3 ringtone solution WITH software ?
thanks...
Well I just realized something. But is this normal ?
If I put the mp3 files in the root directory or in a 1st level directory, I can see them in Ringo sotware and but I can't see them in default contact ringtone selection.
If I put them in a 2nd level directory I can't see them from Ringo and default ringtone selection screen.
If I put the files in root directory I can see them both in Ringo and default ringtone selection screen.
is this normal ?
If you search the forum, you'd find that you've found the answer to your question. Now if you need an explanation of the solution rather than the solution itself, please contact Microsoft.
hi,
so you mean it's normal behaviour ?
I don't need an explanation of the solution.
what I want is to be sure that I'm not doing something incorrect or I don't miss something.
btw, I had searched the forum before opening this thread. There are so many threads about mp3 ringtones.

Yes, and I'd be cautious anyway. Having ring tones especially anything not in a vanilla wmv or similar format can slow up time it takes for your phone to start ringing. In addition storing the file on storage card makes this delay even worse and finally can cause phone to crash on incoming call. Not saying this will happen to you but if it does you'll know why. Once you have it set up test out delay until first ring and response time from off/sleep.
Mike
well, I decided to use "mring" as ringtone manager on my Hermes.
I would just pay for this great application but I found a problem with Hermes.
If I use mring , I can't connect to my GPRS connection after disconnecting.
To re-connect to GPRS I need to reboot the Hermes.
This means I just have "one" time connection to GPRS (for each reboot of the device)
If I uninstall mring, this problem disappears and I can connect to GPRS each time I try.
So ,I think there is a conflict with mring and GPRS connections.
Can anyone confirm this ? Does this work for anyone ?
What else can I use as an alternative to "mring" ?
hey guys, I am really desperatly looking for ringtone managing software.
please advise...
You can also put them in "\storage card\My Documents\" and they'll show up in the default ringtone manager but as mikechannon said, it takes a while for the ringtones to load. Like it'll say incoming call, then ring 2 seconds or so later.
What i do is i put all my ringtones in "\Storage Card\My Documents\My Music\Ringtones\" and then just copy the one i want as a ringtone to "\Windows\Rings\" and when i want to change it, i'll remove the one i have there and replace it with another one i want.
well, that's a nice idea but mring was also adding features as "ringtone to contact/category/know caller/unknown caller" , "sms to contact/category/know caller/unknown caller"
it also has "vip" settings for contacts marked as vip and it has profile support like (discreet/loud/normal...)
I am also looking for such features which the OS itself does not include.
so I am still looking for alternatives to mring.
any idea ?
