Unable to downgrade and problem with PPC 2003 for o2 Xda - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I've got a lot of problem with my O2 xda.
I have instal windows mobile 2003 SE, found in the roomkicthen from lumpistefan (rom version 3.04.00 eng). I would like to downgrade to PPC 2002 but I can't. When I start the programme A from O2 it said it's the wrong model of PPC: it said I've got a PW10B1 model but it's written in the back of my ppc that it is a PW10A1. How can I downgrade so. I try to launch adaptrom but it didn't start good on my PC. I download Osi image tool but i can't transfert the Nbf file to a sd card, in all type of file possible.
PPC 2003 erase all I have on my Sd card after a While ( 3hours-1day). Where did it come from?
I didn't found sim toolkit on my ppc, have I to instal something else?
How can I set by default the option "request message delivery notification" in text message?
Thank you

Try one of these ROMs for downgrading....

WM2003 erasing SD-Card is an old problem. In my kitchen is an unprooved patch for this problem. I had this problem just once and have used the WM2003 for about 1 1/2 years....
Permanent SMS delivery Notfication could be done by inserting
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSDeliveryNotify"=dword:00000001
in the registry....

Stefan

Thank for your help. It work for the permanent delivery notification
I can't download now and I wil try to downgrade after vacanty

So what should I do? I should download WM2003SE from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ROMVersions or cook from http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/? :-(
Cheers,

Depends on you. Thr ROMs here on ftp / wiki are all the "clean" versions. If you want to have aditional software in it, you have to cook your own one....

I ve install ppc 2003 from wiki. But now I haven't any mms composer, registry editor and a good wap browser. Wich software can I use?

XDA w/ ppc2002 upgrade request help to 2003

Hi,
This probably the most asked question here yet I have one thing thats different to the others from what I have read.
I live in Australia, my 02 XDA ppc isnt sim locked or anything however my issue is related to the o/s I have ppc2002 I wanted to upgrade to 2003 and found a file for download and am unaware if this file is the correct file to download for upgrade to my XDA?
I also know I need a radiostack which will work on my XDa once it has been updated to 2003.
2003 file @ http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/PPC2003PE.nb1.zip
Radiostack which will work for me?????
Any help would be appreciated aswell as telling me what are the neccessary files on my PC to use to flash the ppc phone edition via my USB cradle also.
Any other info should be available with my profile.

Hi,
if ur phone works fine in making/receiveing calls, then all u need is a ROM upgrade. goto the kitchen at www.yorch.net and cook a ROM based on 4.00.05 ENG. select the file to be an exe file. download the file to ur PC and connect the xda to the cradle and make sure it's connected to power. run the exe and follow the instructions.
good luck
Hi,
Thanks Biso007 for all your info/help.
I am currently downloading the file that I 'cooked' as I type this out however one thing I was not sure about was in the string section was I to change the string to 4.00.05 as it was set on 3.16 ...
I did change it and its downloading I assume there should not be any issues.
If there is any concerns or if I did the wrong thing by that please inform me... BTW the file was made into an .exe.

Hi,
I visited www.yorch.net and 'cooked' my own ROM made it into an exe and have it downloaded right here it's a 4.05.00 rom flash but I have to ask what software can I use to flash the unit with because I do not have an SD card so I am stuck using my PC to do the flash, I have the official backup files for my ppc from 02's site so I am ok I guess if all else fails i will flash back to what I am currently using.
I wanted to flash the rom onto my ppc however what software can I use? I tried Microsofts Sync software I have 3.7 but it doesnt allow me to flash as it gives me an error message.

Any help would seriously be appreciated, but what is the compatible utility?

unfortunately this is a known issue with some ROMs that can't accept the exe method. you are stuck with the SD card upgrade.
Will adaptrom not work for this?

Help please using XDAtools as I am a dummy!!!

Sorry folks but I have already posted this and don't know how to delete the previous post. after I reviewed the previous post I don't think I made myself clear enough. Please accept my apologies. But would appreciate help on this.
I have read the majority of the info on XDAtools on the forum and installed I believe correctly. I currently run on Win98SE. I have installed Jeff summers version of XDA tools. And though I think I understand what I am doing I am not totally convinced. Before I embark on cooking roms and upgrading etc I would like to be able to do the following:
1: Dump my current rom from my device to my PC I can do this using
XDAtools OSImage. But have noticed that I can only appear to dump
this as NB1(windows CE(*.nb1) type files if I try to call this NBF I get
the following errors:
”error opening C:\program files\xdatools\bootloader_v5_15.nb0ea for
reading. the system cannot find the file specified”
”error opening source bootloader from C:\program
files\xdatools\bootloader_v5_15.nb0ea. error opening target device”
Is it possible to dump my ROM to a file called ‘xxxx.NBF’? or must I stick with *.NB1? this is not a problem as long as the NB1 file can be reloaded.
2: When I try to upgrade my ROM by using OSImage tool and selecting
source as:
‘C:\PROGRAM FILES\XDATOOLS\BINARIES\ATT160204.NB1’
Select destination as ‘device memory (via Programme A) ‘
When attempting to load an ‘NB1’ ROM from my PC to my device memory
(via Programme A) I always get the following message:
”Programme A not found - run with --register error opening target device”
I originally ran the ProgrammeA with ‘--register’ when first installed and tried numerous times since. Can someone please help as I am sure it is something simple I am missing. I only want to be able to use XDAtools to dump and restore ROMs.
I have tried searching for a solution but to no avail. Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance John.
May you tell your current ROM version and device type?
Some ROMs do not accept the EXE or the XDAtools with NBF files upgrading methods. You may have to use the SD card flashing in this case.
Thanks Bis
Thank you Biso007 I am currently running A.30.09.ENG and my device type is an XDA1. But I believe the problem is associated with XDAtools ProgrammeA as it cannot find the specified files. Though I have followed all instructions for definition. There is probably something simple I am missing. You see I only want to be able to use XDAtools to dump and restore Roms without the need for SD/MMC cards.
Thanks John
Try downloading the XDATools from Jeff Summers site, it has all the missing bits, including the required batch file :
http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDAtools-Jeff.exe
That's from the sticky XDATools thread, probably read through there and you will find most questions answered if you continue to have problems.
Remember though that the SD card method is the preferred option, and if you burn any T-Mobile ROM's the SD card is *required* to reverse that.

XDAtools cannot work with WM 2003.
and you no need to backup A.30.09.ENG (ATT USA version WM2003), you can get it from online!

Yes, it for sure!
XDAtools only works with Pocket PC 2002 or some test version WM2003.(<4.0.11)
It cannot work with WM2003 official release (AT&T A.30 or T-mobile).
Thats weird, I am positive I used xdatools to program my sd card through reader writer after downloading the official WM2003 upgrade, in fact I must have used that method because I had to seperate out the radio stack and program just the ce rom, I have no other tools to do this.

I think you'll find that it only does *not* work with T-Mobile WM2003 ROMs. That's only because they lock up their OS to try and prevent us from changing ROMs. I don't think that's the case with any other manufacturer. I also think it doesn't make any difference whether it's WM2003 or WM2002, it solely depends on whether the manufacturer locks the OS.
Thank you cgigate & ebswift re XDAtools/WM2003
Thank you Cgigate and ebswift maybe this is why I am encountering problems with my download and restore of my ROM. I inadvertently choose a WM2003 AT&T rom to practice with. Maybe I should have chosen a PPC 2002 ROM to test??
I thought I had a problem with XDAtools and that I did not have all the correct links/files in place. Maybe I should dump my ROM and try restoring a PPC2002 and then re try my test. Thanks again guys.
i used xda tools with the AT&T WM2003 rom on my uk o2 xda with no problem. I wanted to keep my old radio stack as it was working fine and just used the os upgrade file, via SD card.
I would recommend updating activesync to 3.7 if you are doing it via the XDA cradle.
maltloaf
Did you use XDAtools to copy direct to device
Thank you Maltloaf, when you upgraded your rom did you use XDAtools directly from PC to device or copy the file onto your SD/MMC card and use the bootloader program to load ?? If so maybe you can answer the problem I am encountering. Thanks john
i have flashed twice (had to go back to 2002 for a short while)
both times using the SD card/bootloader method and I transferred the file onto the card using xdatools in the xda/cradle
Thank you Maltloaf
Thank you Maltloaf this seems to be clearer now, but in the context of upgrading etc XDAtools is only being used to copy the file from source to SD/MMC card. I was under the impression that XDAtools did not require the use of SD/MMC card. But maybe it's a matter of finding out what works for you. John
well xdatools should be able to flash directly to the xda as far as i know but it's always the safest way to do it sdcard style
Thanks to all
My thanks to all you helped with my recent questions. Thanks John

Dear All,
Is it possible to unlock the SIM on universal
Is tit possible to change the language on the phone from french to English
Can you please guide me on how to do the above as I dont speak french
Is it possible to save the current settings on the phone if the above fails
as the operator sayzs that the warrantz on the phone is void if the language is changed or the SIM is unlocked
My current configuration

Rom Date 22-09-2005
Radio 1.03.00
Protocol Version 42.36.P8
Ext rom 1.13.132 FRE
I can help you change language from french to english.
Doesn't your Universal have a place where you can download the french ROM? If not, it is still possible to backup the french ROM. A little complicated, but i'm sure i can walk you thru the process.
Regarding the unlocking, i don't think it is possible at the moments. The geniuses are working on it but as of now, you can have it unlocked thru your provider. Just pay the fee (which i think is around 20-30€)
Dear Jorgee,
I would appreciatte if you can walk me htrough the language change, I have tried the provider which is orange switherland, that the lock is definite
A Bellah
First step is to tell me which ROM you would like? O2, Qtek, Imate or T-Mobile?
and i assume you would like it in english?
Just tell me what ROM you need and i will walk you thru it

I guess if you want the fastest or newest? The fastest in MY opinion is the QTEK because it has few customizations. The newest I believe is O2 ROM
Regarding Phone configurations of Orange, the configurations are set thru a .CAB file which is stored in Extended ROM. All you have to do before changing ROM is to backup the extended ROM, then Flash the device to english, then run the CAB file that has the Orange customizations.
If you can give me a list of the files in your Extended ROM, i'll do my best to explain what each file does
Dear Jorge,
I guess I will use the same as youy which I thinkl would be the qtek.
Ok where do i get the programme to back upo the extended rom
Thanks
Backing up extended rom, have to install Total Commander. Then in total commander, type \EXTENDED_ROM which will show you the contents of the extended ROM. Just copy to the SD card and save in your computer, that's how you backup extended ROM
For backing up the OS ROM, refer to this thread as it was BUZZ that helped me find out what to do.
Its : http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?op...=view&id=8573&catid=33&limit=15&limitstart=15
Just download the file at the bottom of this page (page 2) then continue on to page 3 and 4 which explains how to do it. Just PM me regarding where you are already and I will walk you thru the rest as I have already done the procedure
Hello Jorgee,
I got to this stage and created the file on the desktop but I tried to run the command in dos but I got an error message
Where can I download the qtek rom from
Thanks

What command did you enter that caused you to get an error message?
go here ftp://xda:xdaftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Universal/Shipped ROMs and download UNI_Qtek_WWE_11364_151_10300_Ship.exe for the English ROM.
are you sure you don't want to backup your ROM first?
Just drop me a message if you get lost.

i want to back it up first but I am getting the folowing error on the dos command
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

Did you install EnableRapi on the PPC first before doing this?
THen you have to disable the USB connect option of ActiveSync,
Then enter Bootloader mode on yor universal,
then connect it to the computer,
then run the pdocread
is this what you did?
no I followed the articel your refered me to, I ran the enable rapi, then connected to the usb and then ran the programme.
I also tryed to download the qtek system but the link you gave me does not let me acess the site
you have to put xda:xda in the link as this is the username and password. Or use an ftp program to access the site, this might be easier
I put it in the bootloader state and still the same message
I put it in the bootloader state and still the same message, but the message on the article you refered me toi says not to do so, I have tried both methods and cantr seem to be able to get it done
Sorry, but i don't know what to say. Are you using the original cable?

SD card being deleted

Hi,
I recently upgraded to WM 2003 using LumpiStefan's ROM kitchen. Since then my SD card occassionally erases itself. Also tried WM 2003SE and it lasted a day before being erased.
Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
Dale.
It's a bug in the OS....
Try entering thi in the registry:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\PCMCIA\SDCard]
"BlockTransferSize"=dword:00000028
"FSD"="FATFSD.DLL"
"Prefix"="DSK"
"Ioctl"=dword:00000004
"IClass"=hex(7):7B,00,41,00,34,00,45,00,37,00,45,00,44,00,44,00,41,00,2D,00,45,00,35,00,37,00,35,00,2D,00,34,00,32,00,35,00,32,00,2D,00,39,00,44,00,36,00,42,00,2D,00,34,00,31,00,39,00,35,00,44,00,34,00,38,00,42,00,42,00,38,00,36,00,35,00,7D,00,00,00,00,00
"Dll"="SD.DLL"
Some people have reported that it fixes the problem.
But as everytime without any warranty.....
Stefan
The Wm 2003SE rom already has those settings. unfortunately i am still having the same problem. Any advice as to what to try now?
Correction. The only difference is the value of Iclass. I have updated this as you have suggested. I am back to WM 2003 because I kept having other problems with WM 2003SE.
My device now does not even recognise that an SD card is installed. I am not sure what has happened.
Also the model number has changed to 10B1 rather than 10A any reason for this?
i am running WM 2003 4.02.04
The model change from PW10A to PW10B is fixed by a value of the ROM, but this causes no problem.....
Maybe this fix do not work with this ROM....
Maybe you should change back the values....

Erasing of SD-Card is just a problem from WM2003 (final, beta and SE....)
Stefan
LumpiStefan: Thanks for the answer. I tried to downgrade to 2002 but the absence of landscape mode is too much to bear...
Im not sure but i think that the beta 2003 version doesn´t erase the sd cards, if my memory doesnt fail that was the version i had after puting 2003 se.
hi, im also having te same problem wit hthe card wiping, just like to knw, how do i enter this ino the regeistry? am new with that sort of thing, would it be too cheeky to ask fr astep by step guide? i have phm registry editor and wm2003
thanks
Conclusions in 2003 SE
I have a few hints about this problem but are early speculations;
1.If you soft reset with the card inserted it will erase somethimes.
2.Do not quit the sd card while some apps are runing (like mp3 player) this will make the sistem slow.
Anyone has more experiences to share?

Please help with old PW10B1

My friend bought long time ago; on ebay. Appears sim-locked.
Now i'm trying to help him in unlocking, i have read lot of treads, and tryed several programs, but still no luck.
Can you guys please help me and advise how to ulock the phone.
Configuration is:
T-Mobile pw10b1
MS Pocket PC v.3.0.12039 (buid 11178)
ROM 3.08.10 ENG (07/11/02)
Radio 6.02
Protocol 324e4
Bootloader 5.15
Network adapters:
AsyncMac1 NDISWAN Adapter
NE2000 Compatible Ethernet driver
PPTP1 NDISWAN Adapter
What I did:
using this page http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_Unlock2
-Installed ActiveSync from MS site;
-Backup the ROM to SD and to PC using XDATools;
-Tryed to flash bootloader with 'pnewbootloader bootloader_v5_15.nb0' but it returns an error 'Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect'
?? May be it's because i'm already on 5.15 bootloader?
-then i tried to Install the 'XDA-Developers Special Edition ROM 1.2' but error said that BIOS is for pw10A1, not mine.
?? where can i get Special ROM for pw10b1?
-then i'm tried to go to http://www.romkitchen.de/, but didn't use the ROM because not sure if works (phone is not mine). Which ROM to use, will WM2003 SE work on mine phone? Will it remove SIMlock?
- i'm reading about the XDAunlock program, on web said: Please note that XDAunlock will only work on device with a PPC2002 ROM that has the Wireless Modem feature. Do I have PPC2002? Do I have Wireless Modem?
Thank you in advance for help!
ps is it possible to get unlock-code some where? Upgrading ROM can be too risky (phone is not mine...)
First of all, since you have already backuped the ROM of the devie would you be able to send me the File?
Cocnerning XDA Special ROM. Normally faslhing that should work either for PW10A and for PW10B devices. There is a tool called adaptrom (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=adaptROM) that can be used for flashing.
But I´m not quite sure if this ROM will work for unlocking the device. The Radio Stack of the device is also quite old. But you can give it a try. Securest way for flashing is via SD-Card.
Done this hundred of times already.....
Stefan

THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP!!!
After that I upgraded Radio to 6.24.00 (no sure I this would remove sim-lock, didn't test; hope this version is stable/better that my previous 6.02)
Now i need to find a way to install dual-lauout (Russian) and to install some good Media Player (with avi, mp3, mov, wma and 3gp) - can you give me any advices?
Thanks again for all your activities and for your site!
