Hi.My brother recenlty bought an unlocked t-mobile branded "magician".He put his o2 uk simcard in and can't get the gprs settings.I have a jam myself and so went onto club imate and downloaded the operator settings for o2 uk and installed them onto his device.Problem is they don't seem to work.Is there something were missing here?Something extra that needs doing with it orginally being t-mobile?please someone help!
kind regards
The only thing I can suggest is that he check his SIM card is enabled for GPRS.

Hi there,
I have just bought an unlocked MDA compact but can't get it to work on O2!
The MDA that I have seems to be unlocked as I have it on Orange at the moment, but, when I put my O2 SIM card in it just says that there is no service!
I have Network selection set to automatic, but when I select "Set Networks" it says that its unable to read settings from the network.
I have searched for networks with the Orange SIM and it finds O2 and Vodafone, but wont let me connect. I guess thats an Orange thing, but it does tell me that the phone can recieve on the other frequency
Can anyone help me?
Cheers,
Evan
My brother has recently got a t-mobile uk mda wich was unlocked so he could use his o2 uk sim in it.But when we installed the o2 cab file settings off the clubimate site they don't work for the wap.Has anyone else managed to get theres working?ie getting gprs working on an unlocked device of a different network?
regards
try doing a search for
o2 AND gprs
excluded to this forum [networking]
there are many guides how to manualy setup the gprs
if you want WAP or mms settings just replace gprs in the search string
Just thought i'd put my Orange SIM into my JJ and it works fine, no questions asked, even tho i got it on a Vodafone contract, so no locks whatsoever on a imate JJ.

I do not believe vodafone are anywhere near packaging a Universal with vodafone software. I asked the question a few weeks ago and they had no knowledge of this device.
The jasjar is distributed by i-mate as an unlocked device that can work on any network, hence mobile resellers can sell it with a voda contract.
Of course whatever sim u use, u will need to set-up GPRS for that network to access the internet.
Cheers, Numb
The JasJar is always sim free...
I think that the JasJar is always sim free no matter what network you may have bought it on.
Hi there,
I have an unlocked SPV m3100 with the latest orange update. Currently I'm using an o2 PAYG sim card in the handset but cant get onto the mobile web. Does anyone know the settings and how to configure them for use with my handset?
Many thanks
I purchased a 2nd hand o2 xda exec on ebay, and put my old o2 SIM in it but it constantly says searching. At first I thought this may be because the SIM was an old 2G not 3G sim, so I purchased an o2 3G PAYGO sim and tried again.
CE 1.30.107, Extended 1.30.162, Radio 1.0.9
Still no luck....
I've tried Buzz's Unlocking utility just in case it was locked to a different network, but this being an o2 device I would expect it to be locked to o2 if anything. The unlock utility said it succeeded in unlocking. But still no service.
After a while I get a box appearing with:
Select a network:
O2-UK
@ VF-UK
@ Orange
@ 23420
T-Mobile UK
I've even seen a 'G' icon & and while at work a 'U' icon, so I would guess the radio does work.
I've even checked out the imei to make sure it wasn't blocked on the network (lost/stolen).
I'm a little stuck now what to do, other to use it as a PDA without phone functionality. I might see if i can borrow a Vodafone or Orange SIM to try out.
Anyone seen anything similar, or have any ideas?
Vodafone works
I just tried a vodafone SIM, it worked fine.
I'm having the same problem with an old O2 genie sim it cant find the network any ideas as to why?
If you have seen a G and a U symbol then it HAS actually registered on the network, else you'd have seen an X there. so that rules it out as an IMEI lock out.
Ok as a long shot upgrade your radio to 1.15 and give that a whirl.
