Which ROM is more stable 1.11 or 1.12? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I am using 1.12 after a short time of using 1.11, so i cannot judge on 1.11, some guys claimed that 1.12 is not stable as 1.11 isn't right?

1.11 is rock solid.

I'm sticking to 1.11 for the time being. Didn't find any real advantage in upgrading since I have no problems whatsoever with Qtek 1.11.

Well, from my experience with the 1.12 ROM I'd say it's as "good" as the previous one since most of the features remain unchanged. The only situation that I think was corrected was the delay there was when opening the Start Menu after hard reset. Apart from that (and the Bluetooth patch being integrated into the ROM) I think it's the same ROM.

I highly recommend that users stay with the 1.11 ROM. I used the 1.11 ROM for a number of months without any issues. I then decided to upgrade to 1.12 and have had laggy performance when accessing messages and the phone dialer. Additionally, i have also had problems hanging up on calls.
I have an i-Mate Jam with the Qtek 1.11 ROM. I cannot comment as to whether the i-Mate 1.11 ROM is just as good. I initially went to the Qtek 1.11 ROM as it was available before the i-Mate 1.11 ROM thanks to the members of this forum. When i upgraded to the 1.12 ROM, i used the ROM provided by i-Mate. I then encountered the above mentioned issues so I tried the Qtek 1.12 ROM even though people have said that they're the same. I continued to have the same problems.
I'm now reverting back to the Qtek 1.11 ROM.

I've used both 1.11 and 1.12 with extended rom hack. Both much the same - had no problems with instability with either, and certainly not one more so than the other.
I've seen no reason not to upgrade, but also no reason TO upgrade! So stick with what works! Re-installing everything after the upgrade was so tedious, I wish I hadn't bothered, but the system is clean and tidy now, finally, so that will amount for any performance boost as much as anything else.

I had upgraded from 1.06 to 1.12. Up to now absolutely no problems, runs like a charm
Cheers

I think it would be helpful when posting if you had problems or not with either rom to state whether you did a clean install of apps afterward or did a restore...which usually causes problems anyway.
I upgraded from 1.11 anansky big storage to the iMate 1.12 big storage, and have had no problems at all. My Jam runs better now but that is probably due to a careful "clean" install of apps.

I'm whit 1.12 and I have had no problems at all!

hey, I just installed v112 to my MDA compaq, and i found out there are many things that really blow me off.
1. the photo contacts is not function properly although it looks ok but its not. example when u assign a photo and a ringtone to at least 1 person, then u restart ur MDA, then ask ur partner and try to give u a ring. This is the bad thing happened. it doesnt give u a right ringtone that u just assigned.
2. the spare battery really does not support. after u battery only left about 1%, the MDA will turned off automatically without using the spare batt that it supposed too.
3. some lag problem... but is not irratating..
hope there is a new upgrade version to solve this problems. thanks

I've been running 1.12 since its release and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Though, I did do a clean install of all my prgrams.

I have tried both 1.11 and 1.12, but both require me to reset my device in order to use GPRS. For some reason, when I try using any software that uses a gprs connection it will give me an error after trying to connect for about 60 seconds. After a reset, then I can make the connection. I am not sure what is causing the system to not make the connection after it has been on for a while.
I think others have had this problem, but they attribute it to making a phone call. But after a fresh reset, I can connect to GPRS, then make a phone call, then reconnect to GPRS without any problems. After a couple of hours, though, I cannot connect.
Does anyone know a fix for this, or do I need to go back to 1.06?

Active Sync Starts Unnecessarily

I dont' know if anybody has noticed this. After going thorugh Start / Settings / System Tab / Memory / running programs tab I stop all running progrrams. After sometimes I go to this place again and I find Active Sync as a running application even though I have not started it.
This did not happen on my old pda2k. Why does it happen on the universal JJ. Though it does not matter but yet it is taking some useful RAM and more so my urge to know why does it happen.
I will appreicate your views
Regards
I had this problem too
It is a pain in the ass as this causes skype not work with me. No solution yet.
M
Same here. I hope they fix things like this in Rom updates.
Try putting in dummy exchange server settings, disable all scheduled updates. That should stop AS autostarting.
Hi Efjay. Remember me? Anyway.. :? can you tell me/us how to go about doing this please  grovel, grovel!
Meanwhile, glad I was wrong about you!
Not to worry. Sussed it. Thanks for the tip though!
mackaby007, np glad you got it working, was at work and didn't see your reply til now on the way home. One-handed WM5 rocks.
Hi Efjay and All.
I'm not sure if this is related or not, but I had some problems whereby Active sync stopped working for me alltogether. Decided to download and install the unofficial 4.1 version of Activesync in conjunction with Magicbutton (and disabled the 'close' feature of Spb pocket plus 3) and presto, I'm no longer getting Activesync running in the background and all aplications close as they should!
If anyone is still experiencing problems in this area, give this a try and please post your experience back here.
Yeah your right Efjay, one handed operation in WM 5 rocks , but I'm still struggling to put the stylus down (I've become so used it, it's a new learning curve for me).
That's what you think
Try turning on wifi, and AS will come right back. I tried your solution and no luck. I tried faking the server and changing the schedule otpion, no luck, it just lives on....
No more annoying Activesync!!
Hi All. Just to report back, I,ve not had the recurring problem with Activesync poppin back anymore, at all, whatsoever!
Mikee: I tried as you said, and used wi-fi to surf the web, then watched a 2 hour movie on the JAsJar, then reconnected the wi-fi and listened to Resco Radio for 15 minutes, then checked memory status under settings. Nothing. No Activesync and nothing else running in memory. for me at least, the problem is gone and I'm not using any dummy server settings either! I'm typing this from the JasJar now and as we speak....just checked memory again. Nothing.
I don't know what to say, but I know you've had this problem a while now and all I can think is that it's either the software you have installed (possibly need a clean re-install of Activesync 4.1) like skype, which I uninstalled the minute I got my JasJar, or your Radio ROM update, which I have not done either.
Anyway, sorry I can't be of any more help to you, but please post your findings here if you snag the culprit.
For yor reference:
i-mate JasJar
ROM version: 1.12.38 WWE
ROM date: 08/24/05
Radio version: 1.03.00
Protocol version: 42.36.P8
ExtROM version: 1.12.120 WWE

Hello All,
I don't think this problem is specfic to the JasJar, as I have the very same problem on my PDA2K. This only started happening after I upgraded to the windows of OS. So, I think it's more to do with W05 and or activesyne 04 which is needed to run W05. I have also found that this happen befor I even installed any apps on system, and I never had Skype so that can be ruled out as the culprit. Anyway, still trying to solve this bug, Have not recieved my Universal as yet...I'm waiting for the o2 version  Think the black rocks! Until then I have been keeping my eye on all the help from this section of the site...Just my 2cents

GPRS lockups in qtek 9100

Hi all...
I bought a qtek 9100 a few days ago...and after some intial frustration about removing the russian OS and putting english back on.... i found out that the GPRS intermittantly locks up (every 5 to 10 minutes or so)....
I've been searching through the previous posts and can't see if anyone else posted a solution....but I think I may have found one, and I would ask if someone else who has this problem please try....
In the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Comm, change AutoCnct from 1 to 0 (This disables Activsync's autoconnect)
Please let me know how you get on....
Qtek 9100
rom 1.6.7.1 WWE
radio 01.13.10
protocol 4.0.13.24
ext rom 1.6.7.101 WWE
What's your operator? It's well known issue for MTS Moscow, still there is no solution . It doesn't depend on version of ROMs.
Yes.....I'm using MTS....
I had no problems whatsoever with GPRS on my iPaq 4700/Nokia combination.....
Yesterday, I was using the Qtek for hours with no problems with GPRS disconnections or lockups.....but I was sitting stationary at my desk. However, when I started to use it on the way home in the car...the problem appears again...
I have a feeling it mught be to do with when the phone changes cells....
BTW, does it also lock up if you constantly ping any Internet computer in the background? (See http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...w_to_combat_automatic_disconnecting_fr&more=1 for more information on doing this.)
It's not a disconnection issue....it's a lockup of the GPRS/radio system.
One minute you will be connected fine, then the next, no response (but all indications are you are connected ok).
When you try to disconnect, the disconnection process takes anything from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, and almost locks the device. Once you have disconnected, you cannot reconnect until you have soft-rebooted.

If your operator is MTS Moscow, GPRS stucks always after any SMS or call until soft reset or fightmode on/off.
[edit 1] By the way new ROM is released, I'm trying...
[edit 2] No success. ROM 2.16.8.1 WWE, radio 2.7.10. %@$#!

GSMTestmode works with MTS. I guess it doesn't depend on operator.
so, no solution for the reconnection problem??
I had same problems with Radio lockups on my UNIVERSAL. I've tried different ROMs with no luck. BUT after changing my Radio rom back to latest from T-mobile (1.10.03) everything back to normal- all day driving with GPRS on - no lockups at all!!! 100% solution is..... use old radio rom.

active sync, no connection to att, wtf?

ive been runnin black majik for a while with no problems
until tonight, i wasnt doing anything an i noticed i had no service.
put my sim in an old phone and it worked
put a working sim in my phone and no service.
now i cannont connect to active sync, the light lights up orange for a second and the battery doesnt seem to charge.
altho it was working yesterday fine.
wtf happened?
Welcome to XDA developers on your first post - hopefully someone here can help.
The basic radio (phone) capabilities are determined by a combination of the OS ROM (Black MAJIK in your case) and (mainly) the radio version. Have you upgraded the radio? I have Black MAJIK and have no issues with the radio version 1.43. It sounds like you have 2 problems - the radio and then the USB activesync connectivity.
My obvious inclination would be to reset the device (hard-reset) but did you upgrade the radio and did the phone work straight after that upgrade process? Were there any warnings if you did upgrade the radio?
I normally have no problems at all with activesync but have occasionally seen the same fault as you (orange charge light with no activesync connection established - and sometimes a missing orange light even though the device has not been moved and is clearly connected).
I'd hesitate to offer any other advice just yet - let's see what your answers are and I am sure that others may step in to help. You might like to provide a few more details in your XDA dev profile and others will see where you are, what provider you are with and which model of Hermes you have.

i have the cingular 8525
and i have radio 1.40.30 i beleive thats what it said
and no this did not happpen when i was upgrading the radio...
it pretty much just crapped out
ok well i flashed the 1.47 radio on there and i got service yet its horrible with att
i barely can make calls even with full service.
im going to try an older one i suppose.
ok well i installed the stop wm5 att rom with radio version 1.34 and i dont get service. any idears?
ok well 1.40 doesnt work.
only one i seem to get barely to work is 1.47
why the heck is this, i been searching like crazy
1.46 isnt working either.
all these roms just keep searching for a network and do not connect.
ive tried soft and hard resetting many times with no prevail.
to fix the active sync issue i unintalled .net framework, then uninstalled atcive sync then reinstalled both, now onto this radio issue.
to be honest i thnk this started happening after i poked the light sensor on the keyboard with the stylus, but i doubt that would happen to have anything to do with it.
just so u all know i have tried numerous roms/radio combos, also tried the stock att cingular roms.
nothing seems to find service.
ipl 1.01
spl-2.10.olipro
ok i pretty much figure this is a hardware issue.
what should i do so when i send it back to ATT they wont know i messed with the OS.
obv the stock WM5 cingular os
the radio version it came with
and the spl it came with?
anything im missing?
oh it also doesnt say NO GSM when i boot, it shows the radio version
just an update im sure seeing this topic on top all the time got annoying.
well after no prevail last night with the whole no service thing i wake up this morning put my sim back in, and what ya know i have full service.
althought i still returned it and got a new one because i got that 8525 not more than 30 days ago.
att was very quick to replace it considering its my second one in a month.

Phone ring lag problem

I phoned my pocket pc from my home phone I had to wait 4 rings to see that I'm actually receiving a call. I tried a soft reset but doesn't help.
I am with this ROM -> WM6.1 5.2.19716 hoangdat_VT, I have lots of programs installed, 14mb internal memory free and 64 RAM Free. I don't have any Caller ID software and I am using the stock ringtones.
ps I'm starting to hate blueangel, it's so slow in every situation
I am using xplode's WM6 rom, and just tested with both PDA screen on and off, neither took longer than one ring on my house phone. Maybe try another rom, or check with another cell phone. It could always be your carrier that is being slow and not your blue angel.

There's no problem with my ROM either. When I installed it without any programs, everything was ok. Now somethings wrong :/I know xplode's ROM is the best but I'm staying with this because it is only ROM that works with Wifi driver 2 and Helmi Broadcomm Bluetooth Drivers. I know hard reset will fix the problem but I'm tired of it Any other ideas ?
Soon I will do just like Xeon but the main problems is that I don't have money right now.
I'm using xplode's ROM, and the only problems I have with bluetooth and wireless are as follows:
Beam must be enabled for bluetooth to send and recieve, a 2 second job from comm manager.
WiFi must be switched on in wireless settings before comm manager after each reset.
I'm sure at some point soon the problems will be fixed, but as there is no official WM6 for the BA, by using it you're accepting that the developers haven't fixed everything and as such it wont be perfect.
If a hard reset will fix it, it takes my BA no more than a minute to boot back up and 30 seconds to apply the wireless settings (although I don't normally need it straight away), I don't see why doing so isn't a good idea? I treat my BA like a PC. Not a good idea to have it running for a long time without rebooting, as it will bog down.

Also you can't see other's bluetooth shared folders like on every standart phone. I got a pocket pc and I can't do that that's just a shame. There are also no services for the bluetooth and with some phones/pc I can't receive files because they need file sharing server, there's no serial port service no dial upq no HID service. You can't make other devices never to asko you for password. I have all this with my ROM. The only bad thing is that's a little slower tha xplode's ROM. But I decided to do a LAST hard reset and go back to xplode's rom. I will miss the great bluetooth software and the one click turn on Wifi function
Anyway thanks for the help.
Hopefully xplode will get around to fixing such things then

Maybe you've overclocked your BA ;], my MDA working just fine. Speed is aversome, after half ring my PDA start ringing.
ROM from pdaviet DVH 19199 - speed is great! much faster from TYTN (i have one) with 'rom polok'.
Only issue is battery with RADIO 1.06 . PDA with phone turn off work about one WEEK, but when we turn on GSM, its drain battery ~1%/1h.

Yes I overclock my PPC every time a start a game because the 400 mhz processor is not good for games. TYTN has quallcomm which is still not optimized. Try something with samsung processor. My friend has HP RX3115 with samsung 300mhz and even with WM2003 it's reaal fast. Everything starts immediately. I didn't get the chance to test it in games. And about the battery is this ~1%/1h in standby or turned on ?
Incoming ring delay...
Do not use SD for ring files. Use BA memory. For me, work.

Odd problem

Hi there,
I have a weird problem with my Xperia. Every time I slide out the keyboard I loose connection to my telephone network. It tries to reconnect for like 30 seconds and then it's able to connect again. No harm done but it's bugging me.
If I want to write a short SMS it's frustrating to have to wait for the phone to reconnect to the network again.
Anyone know what the problem is?
All you need to do is run SEUS update that should take care of it i had a similar problem and that fixed it for me.
Does that work even if I have a custom ROM?
no,
You should contact the "maker" of that rom you have. SEUS will update to standard rom.
Maybe you can check with another rom. If you got the same problem I think it is hardware related so you have to send it to SE to get it repaired. If not you better use another rom.
I have tried many different ROMs but problem remains.
did u try flashing newer radio? + use correct rilphone.cab?
i used to have this problem but i have to admit since switching to gtrabs6.5/R3A rom and latest radio with correct rilphone, i have not had the problem...
