I have an unbranded US wallaby. The PPC was left over from an EVDO technology trial. The model in the back reads PW10C3. The Device information version reads:
ROM Version: 1.50.10 ENG
ROM DATE: 10/07/03
Radio Version: 5500223
Protocol Version: AA3.1.50TEST
PRL Version: 55002
The Device information hardware reads:
CPU: Intel PXA255
Speed: 400Mhz
RAM Size: 64MB

This phone is supposed to be a CDMA phone that has full CDMA EVDO support. So I want to do an upgrade to WM2003SE without touching the radio portion, Is this possible? Can I use the ROM kitchen updates ?? dont want to mess with the radio portion because it seems very unique...
I would REALLY appreciate if somebody could post simple instructions for and WM2003SE update (without radio) !!!
The Update of to WM2003SE is without any radio stack. So there won't be any Problem with it. But You also have a very different ROM Version to all others.....
Maybe you're able to make a dump of it and upload it.
If you realy want to try WM2003SE you should make a dump of your ROM and keep it backup on your PC. If anything goes wrong, you should be able to restore it.
Following steps i would do:
1.) Make a dump of your ROM to SD-card.
2.) Upload Dump to the ftp-server ;-)
3.) Check if dump could be restored using bootloader
4.) Flash WM2003SE to your device....

Don't know if the GPS is supported by TomTom. Easiest way would be trying it out or contacting TomTom Support....
If the ROM's are the same, you could also use the ROMkitchen updates. If they are not the same, than i think, the original ROM's do not work either....
Personally i wouldn't upgrade to WM2003SE. I would use the 4.01.12 ROM (WM2003).......

I have never received any ROM backup, so i could not habndle if there are any differences in the ROM....
Maybe you're able to mak a backup of your Rom.... (or got already an Upgradr ROM) that i can use....

Hi Stephan, I was able to make a backup of my ROM successfully but can't seem to find a ROM suitable for my device. It's using Windows Mobile 2003 CDMA 2000 Phone edition.

I won't be able to upload the rom until tomorrow morning. I'm home now and NZ is predomately a Dial-Up country.
I've needed to create a folder as you mentioned /Wallaby/Uploads because this didn't exist. I hope that's okay.

I have an Audiovox PPC-5050 that was carried by Bell Mobility here in Canada for a few months. Apparently there was limited production of this model and they sold out very quickly.
Anyway I was wondering if I can upgrade this to WM2003 SE. Under “Device information” I get the following:

I would be really interested in upgrading this to WM5.0 if at all possible. Or would WM5 be too slow?
I know nothing about how to go about doing this but I am a software developer (mostly business applications) and have experience flashing devices from Symbol Technologies. I am not “illiterate” but I am inexperienced in this department. What issues am I looking at? Can I do this without having to get the phone “re-activated” on my service provider’s network (Bell Mobility)? Please just walk me though what I would be looking at. Much thanks!

I just cracked the Device Authentication.
I was using our 'dumprom' script and noticed one of the files contained in the new ROM is called 'DevAuth.exe'. Given the window title 'Device Authentication' on the annoying box that told me I could not play with my new toy, I figured the two were related.
So.... If you replace the only occurence of 'DevAuth.exe" in the image with something else (I used "DevAuww.exe"), the ROM will start just fine.
Expect some screenshots soon (Carlos, can you help out?), but first impressions:
- Most importantly: they bought my favourite game 'Bubblets'. It's now called 'JawBreaker' and resides in games. No wonder the guy never got back to me when I asked if I could include the shareware version in the Special Edition ROM...
- Bluetooth in the control panel (ofcourse our device still doesn't have the hardware).
- Windows Media Player 9
- Lots of things have a slightly newer look
- No major functional improvements to phone and other apps that were immediately obvious to me.
So, Let's hope something running linux crack the rom for us.
By the way, is the rom "4.00.05" which provided by Source O2?
If yes, why it display 3.04 on the booting screen?

I guess these version numbers are just put in whoever builds that particular ROM image. They don't mean that much...
Here's the real question: Who will be kind enough to
convert this ROM to a usable one, preferably an .exe package, for the rest of the group. I don't have a Linux box handy today to do this, so anyone who does, please get on it! We are all waiting.....
Is it possible for me to convert the .nb1 file to .nbf without using the sd card as I don't have one? If so how is it done.

PPC 2003 / Ozone comments
All you need to do is load the PPC2003PE.nb1 file in a hex editor and replace the only occurence of 'DevAuth.exe' with something else (e.g. 'DevAuww.exe'), and put the file on an SD with XDArit, use the bootloader to burn it and presto.
About Ozone/PPC2003: I'm seriously underwhelmed. Ofcourse the next version of the Special Edition ROM will use it as a base, but the functional differences between this version and what we have with e.g. O2's 4.17.03 ROM are really minimal. I smell a tick layer of hyped-up marketing covering a relatively minor upgrade here...
I suggest the playful among you give it a try, but if you can live without it for a little longer, stick to the Special Edition, and unless something is seriously more difficult than we think, we'll publish a patch to this to make it "Special Edition ROM v1.2", Real Soon Now.

I patched the rom and writing it on the SD card now.
I think microsoft will charge for anyone provide the 2003 upgrade, I don't believe O2 will provide the new rom free. If the upgrade is free , it will be the greatest news for all XDA user.

As I said before: do not get your hopes up: this is a minor upgrade with a lot of marketing money thrown at it to make it look like a big thing.
It works!!!
After patching the ROM, I now have Pocket PC 2003 on my Qtek!!!

Hmm, so while I like playing with the latest stuff, it sounds like I should just wait for a 2003 SE ROM. I'm sure we'll have one to try really soon...

Everything seems to work fine with the new ROM, except that you can't change GPRS authentication method... My ISP uses PAP authentication and there is no way to change to that...

A little funny thing found on the new rom :
There is some unlisted program on the \windows folder
I tried pacman, it's GREAT ;-).
Also it provided DUAL VOLUME , you can set system / ring volume seprately.
However the rom is far from perfect.
I found 2 major problem.
1. The SIM Contacts is worse that the old SIM utility. It can do nothing every copy all contacts from the SIM to the device.
2. Wireless Modem is missing.
It seems it's still a develop version of rom.

It works well with your Dangaard Rom but not with the Qtek Rom mentionned in this post... Perhaps my file is corrupted...

You can change operator and country id with xda3nbftool.

there is 2 main things,
1- you have a reel S100 QTEK you buy this in Belgium or France
then you just download the update you click you wait and you are set
(go to FTP on XDA) and you will see Magician folder.
But if I was you if your QTEK come from Belgium and still under waranty I won't bother and I will go to the dealer and have it update for you.
It's easy, hard to failed, but hey you never know
2- you have a S100 from Germany (or whatever country else) then you need to DL the link above and same things you click you wait and you are set.
It's like installing a program. When you start you have to wait, don't disconnect or so, anyhow you will see warning on the sreen, telling you what to do or not to do

Look what I see on XDA FTP (in the folder Magician/..........)
@mamac: make sure you do a backup first. make sure you connect your device via the supplied cable directly to your PC (don't use USB hubs or stuff like that), remove the cards from the SD slot. follow instructions and be patient and everything will be fine

I upgraded my S100 yesterday since then the touch screen does not work properly anymore. Does anybody know waht happened? I can not use the touch screen anymore... :?
After the upgrade it is ok. It's only after I do the backup to restore my programm that it won't work anymore.

It will work, you just have to put your hermes in bootloader mode manually first...

The rom can be flashed onto any Hermes, so yes.

I upgraded my wife's P3300 from English WM5 to English WM6 (WWE 3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90) without a problem.
OK, now I'd like to upgrade it from English WM6 to Finnish WM6 (FIN 3.13.414.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90). When I start the EXE file, it will go all the way to 2% but after that it stops and announces that the hardware (P3300 with English language) is not suitable for Finnish WM6 upgrade. Then the phone is restarted and nothing has happened. It's still in English.
I'd really appreciate if someone would know a solution to flash that Finnish software to that phone. Why it doesn't approve the Finnish software? Is there a certain setting that I'd have to do in order to flash the phone with Finnish WM6?

P.S. Both softwares are DLd from HTC's website so they're not cracked softwares...
BTW, that US HTC link TCP-IP address (to those different softwares) has changed. If someone's interested to get the new TCP-IP address, I can post it over here.

No I didn't since I didn't know that it requires unlocking in order to flash any WM6 version to it. I'll try it again. Thanks for the advise!
BTW, our phones are not locked by any operator, but I really hope that this method works also for "standard" HTC P3300 phone.
P.S. If unlocking is what it takes to flash any WM6 version to P3300, I think I can manage. But if I'd need some further information, I'd be very pleased if I could then continue my series of "stupid questions"
Need for help with USPL!!!!!!!
Well, USPL didn't work for me...
If the flashing should take about 10 minutes, the DOS screen was displayed about 5 minutes and the state of upgrade only 5 seconds.
After that I tried to flash the Finnish WM6 to my wife's phone without any success. The upgrading stops at 2%, after that the phone is rebooted and I'll get the following error message:

Downloaded directly from HTC US site, so it must be an official ROM version.
The English WM6 I have flashed and it's running OK is the following:
HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe
also downloaded from HTC US site, so it's official.
I just don't get it how the hell I could get that Finnish WM6 into my wife's phone... Any help will be highly appreciated!
Never mind, I found the solution. Now my wife's going to get HTC P3300 with Finnish WM6 ;-)

After that I used WinHexEdit and copied the country code row from English RUU file. Then I just pasted that country code row to Finnish WM6's RUU file. After that I flashed my wife's phone with the modified Finnish WM6 ROM. It worked and the language was changed from English to Finnish.
But now I'm facing another problem with her phone: I installed HTC Home (similar to Kaiser's one) to her phone but it doesn't work correctly maybe because of the language of the phone. So does anybody know how to tweak the country settings of HTC Home?

In the windows folder of your wife´s Artemis should be a file named HTCHome.dll.0409.mui and you have to rename it as HTCHome.dll.040B.mui

i don't understand why ppl are willing to flash the newest build. the display bugs with some apps (f.e resco explorer) and the dial up pad are terrible... so you flash that version only for some buttons at the bottom?

- task manager didnt work
i installed duttys now therefore wich does the job
- bluetooth, not able to chage visibility
no dropdown appears to change anything and BT stays invisible

Just noticed the BT issue. You can pair with other devices. If you need your device visible then you can set it via the registry.
