Hi! indeed, there are alot of programs/games written in java but for other mobile devices..so far i have tried them on xda2i but none of 'em works.. any idea how to modify these jars to be working on our xdas? or is there a program to automatically do the conversion?
if you mean midlets

does anybody have the cab file which include the java in the o2 rom for xda2 ?
because my qtek2020 rom dont have it and i would like to have java support on my device
I wouldn;t waste your time, the JVM is purely for MIDlets, which are generally rubbish.
well i got some old java applications that i would like to mess with if i can get them to run on a xda2
Hi

Hi
I have installed the CAB file, but I still cant get java applets to work, such as smile banking. Is there a JVM that will run applets?
Cheers
Justin

Hi
I have installed ewe, but how do I use it, I was hoping for a JVM that will plugin to internet explorer, like jeode does, but this doesn't seem to work
Cheers

dont know havent used it for awhile
I can't get a basic app I have created using VB.net to run on my SX-66. In fact other .net compact framework apps I have gotten from other developers won't work either. I have tried a hard reset and started from scratch but I have had no luck getting the app or finding any answers. Cingular and Siemens both point at MS. I can't find crap from MS about this.
The app works fine on a Toshiba PPC but all it does is show the wait cursor momentarily then nothing, not even a error message on my SX-66. Mobile apps using the eVB runtime files work fine. It is just the .net compact framework app that is the problem.
Does anyone have a VB.net app working on a SX-66? If so maybe I can compare some files with you and track this issue down.
Thanks.
Hi
Similar to the GPS upload thread, I am interested in writing an app to talk to TomTom5 SDK (maybe with or without the TTNC Java/VB wrapper), and upload the data to a Web service.
I am primariliy a Java developer, but have found very little about Java support the XDA... I need to develop for XDA T-Mobile MDA HTC Blue Angel - O/S WME 2002/2003. ..
I have trawled the forums and read a couple of mentions of Java, but nothing conclusive as to what the current situation is with regards to support VM's etc..
Can anyone clarify:
a) What are the supported JVM's
b) If none, what other languages are being used to develop the apps? (is it just VB .NET?)
:?:
java support

other languages you can use
c#
c++
both are miles ahead of vb imho
Hiya
I do a lot of work with TomTom and it's SDKs, originally using embedded VB and now C#. One thing to note... I don't think the TTTNCF wrapper for the TT5 SDK (I assume this is the wrapper you mean?!) will work with Java! As far as I'm aware it's .NET only - tho that said I haven't had time to play with the new TT5 version yet
C# or Java
Hi
Yes I am guessing I only need the TTNC wrapper if I am using .NET because if I use Ewe Java, I can talk straight Java to the TomTom SDK, is that your understanding? (I think the SDK is Java)...
Can I ask why you chose C# over Java/Ewe ?
and also, if I choose to develop using .NET C#, can I talk to a Java web service (ie. Axis published)? or do I have to talk to a Microsoft .NET published Web Service?
ms hate java so java is much much more limited on the mw platform
even more limited in many ways then on a normal nokia cellphone
dont know if the tomtom sdk is java but it's odd if it is because normaly pocketpc's dont have java support unless you install 3th party software
so unless tomtom include a JVM then it's not java

what about a java plugin for the PIE so i can use hushmail.?
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Java/JeodeForPocketPC.exe
It's a Java JVM for Pocket Internet Explorer.
sweet ill let people know if it works with hushmail
plugin fails to load.. i have no clue whats wrong with it.
Just installed it on my Qtek 9000... works fine with Buzztime (www.buzztime.com) in Internet Explorer Mobile.
RE
Hi BeyondtheTech,
I can access buzztime too
Whats there in buzztime that separates the difference between having java and no java installed?
Any other java-enabled sites that can be tested out which cannot be tested by no java installed?
Thanks
The Buzztime games are Java-enabled internet-multiplayer games. I don't know about other Java sites, though.

Hi BeyondtheTech,
Few questions on Jeode for PPC
1) Does it supports WM5?
2) After installing, can internet banking sites be accessed from the PPC? I was informed that because Jeode for PPC does not have security features, hence, banking sites cannot be accessed ie. login in
3) If no, is there any way that internat banking sites can be accessed from the PPC?
Thanks
i can get in desertschools.org and bofa.com
i can access HSBC Banking from my PPC anyway - althought i dont think thats JAVA.
I do have problems playing games that are made with Visual Basic though - gonna look for a plugin/install now
p.s Using a O2 Exec WM5
